1 Star - Wheel Works Performed Unsafe, Dishonest, and Completely Unacceptable Work I am writing this review to get the direct attention of Wheel Works management, because what I discovered after my recent service is absolutely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about safety, honesty, and the quality of work being done here. After being told several front-end components were replaced, a follow-up inspection revealed the exact opposite: Outer front tie rods showed heavy oxidized residue, clear evidence they were not replaced as claimed. Inner tie rod on the driver side is absolutely NOT new--the condition makes it obvious no replacement occurred. Front boots were extremely loose and worn, and the passenger-side boot had completely failed/disconnected, which could easily cause damage to the rack & pinion assembly if left like this. Instead of using proper metal clamps, the shop used zip ties to attach the front passenger-side boot--an unprofessional and unsafe shortcut for a critical steering component. There were abnormal and excessive grease leaks and residue all around the assembly, indicating careless or incomplete work. Several suspension components showed premature wear and oxidation, again contradicting the claim that new parts were installed. To make matters worse, unreliable, cheap aftermarket parts were used instead of OEM parts, despite the cost and expectations of proper-quality repairs. The fact that I was charged for work that appears not to have been done--and in some cases done incorrectly or dangerously--makes this experience even worse. Not only was the service unprofessional, but it also put my vehicle's safety at risk. I strongly advise others to avoid this location. I will not be returning, and I am escalating this matter further. Management needs to take a serious look at the quality control and integrity of the technicians at this shop.

Thermostat Housing

The technicians were unable to replace a thermostat. I went in with that very specific request and money to burn. I was called back an hour later telling me that my leak was coming from the intake despite active leaking from the thermostat housing. I ended up having to learn and perform the repair myself. After replacing the thermostat my leak went away, which tells me the technicians are either lazy or incompetent.

My tire pressure light came on and I did not know where to go. I saw wheel works and took a chance and pulled in. I saw a free air pressure check so I Pulled up. Picked up the air hose and was gonna check my tires. Travis walked over and offered to help. He checked for proper air pressure and kindly proceeded to check each of my tires. Sure enough my left rear tire was low. He promptly filled it and with a friendly smile told me a little bit about their services. Thank you Travis!

Shop replaced the wrong tire after waiting 3 hours and tried to blame it on me. No apology, nothing to rectify the situation. Pretty disappointed. Wait a little longer and go to America's Tire, this shops is not worth the visit. Update to add pictures: This is the state of my wheels when all said and done, they didn't even wipe off the substance they use to get tires on rim. Update 2: third picture other review. This is not the first time they have done this there is another review with the same issue.

Don't speak to or deal with Stephen.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT! Went to wheel works Mountain View where we have gone for a long time. The previous purchase statement in the tire purchase said LIFETIME WHEEL BALANCE. Also, the web site states LIFETIME ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. So, we went to get this done. The manager STEPHEN DE LA ROSA said that he would not touch the tires and the had to be replaced. The tires have plenty of life on them. He said they were dated. STEPHEN said they can sell tires that are less than 3 years old AS NEW! Check to make sure that new tires are on the car. (Google how to find the date, it's easy). WW had sold us old (but legally new) tires then said they were too old to touch. DON'T GO HERE! DON'T TALK TO STEPHEN. IT was the last day of the month, I wonder if he just wanted to make is sales numbers. We went to another Wheel Works. No problem, they rotated and balanced the tires for nothing as promised in the purchase contract and on the web site. The Regional Manager per STEPHEN is ASHLEY BANET. After a lot of asking he offered her name. I hope she reads this and FIRES STEPHEN DE LA ROSA. He would never get a job with me.

They'll refuse to help you 30 minutes before closing, even just to check if there's a nail in your tire. Horrible customer service.

America's Tire is a great family business that is trustworthy. We frequently choose this business…read morefor tires and appreciate the straightforward service and their sole focus on tires. It reminds me of other family run businesses like In and Out and Chick fil A where you're valued as a customer, the prices are always fair, and the quality & service stands out. First time at this Mountain View location for tire rotation and it was relatively quick as we had an appointment.

I placed my tire order and scheduled my installation appointment six days in advance for 8:00 AM at…read morethe Mountain View location. Earlier today, America's Tire even sent me an appointment reminder confirming that everything would be ready for my 8:00 AM appointment, including instructions on where to park when I arrived. That level of confidence would be fine if the store actually had the order ready. Instead, the night before my appointment, I received a call telling me that not all four tires were in stock. That is unacceptable. This was not a same-day walk-in. This was not a last-minute request. This was an order placed almost a full week in advance with a scheduled appointment. If inventory was not complete, that should have been identified and communicated well before the night before the appointment, not after I had already planned my Saturday morning around an 8:00 AM installation. The most frustrating part was the handling of the call. Luis was unable to provide a clear timeframe for when the fourth tire would be available and came across dismissive instead of solution-oriented. When a customer's appointment cannot be honored because the store failed to have the order ready, the bare minimum should be clear communication, ownership, and urgency. I had to escalate the issue to Robert, a senior manager, who was finally able to provide a more realistic update and estimated the tire would be available around 10:00 AM-ish. I appreciate Robert stepping in, but it should not take escalation to get basic accountability. The issue is not only the missing tire. The issue is the breakdown in process: America's Tire confirmed my order. America's Tire confirmed my appointment. America's Tire sent an appointment reminder saying everything would be ready. Then America's Tire called the night before to say the order was incomplete. That is a failure in inventory control, appointment management, and customer communication. If a business is going to ask customers to order ahead, schedule an appointment, and follow specific arrival instructions, then the business needs to honor that process. Otherwise, the appointment system is just theater. Very disappointing experience from a company that should know better.

Since it was conveniently located near my workplace, I figured it would make things easier and save me some time. I brought my car in for a simple balance and rotation service--nothing major, just routine maintenance to keep everything running smoothly. It was a Friday evening, so I wasn't surprised to see that the garage was pretty crowded with cars. In the past, I've made the mistake of walking in without an appointment and ended up waiting for hours, so I've definitely learned my lesson. Scheduling ahead of time really makes a difference, especially going into the weekend when most people are trying to squeeze in last-minute car maintenance. The young gentleman who assisted me was friendly, professional, and welcoming from the start. He explained the process clearly and gave me an estimated wait time. Even though the shop was busy, the service only took about 45 minutes, which was actually faster than what they initially predicted. I appreciated that they managed their time well and stayed efficient despite how packed the garage was. Overall, I had a great experience. The convenience of the location, the courteous customer service, and the quicker-than-expected turnaround time made the visit smooth and stress-free. I really appreciated the service and will definitely consider coming back to this location again in the future.

I had a great experience at America's Tire on El Camino Real in Palo Alto. I initially went in for…read morea new tire and was helped by Brian, who was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He really took the time to explain my options and made the process easy to understand. During the visit, I realized my tires were still under warranty through Sam's Club. I ended up canceling my service at America's Tire, and they refunded me without any issues. What really stood out was Brian's attitude. There were no hard feelings at all. He told me his offer would still stand if I decided to come back and remained just as professional and pleasant throughout the entire interaction. After driving to Sam's Club, I found their prices slightly more affordable due to the warranty, but the difference wasn't significant. Ultimately, I decided to come back to America's Tire purely because of the outstanding customer service. Brian made such a positive impression that it outweighed the small price difference. I even had the option of going to Costco or Sam's Club, but I chose America's Tire because of how well I was treated. When I went back Brian was not available but Alejandro helped me out with the same level of professionalism. They replaced all four tires in less than 30 minutes, and the pricing was very comparable to Costco and Sam's Club. I literally came back because of the customer service alone. If you're looking for a new set of tires and value professionalism and great service, I highly recommend checking out America's Tire on El Camino Real in Palo Alto.
