Chris at Wheel Works Mountain View helped me when I was really upset, he had to tell me my original OEM Dunlop tire (with only 2200 miles) was unrepairable. And, because it was a OEM tire it would have to be special ordered, it would not arrive until the following afternoon (I was leaving on trip at noon). I ended up finding one at a Toyota dealer in Dublin, bought the tire and dropped it off at Wheel Works just before closing time on Thursday. I got a call from Chris just after 9AM Friday morning, my SUV was ready for pick up. Exceptional customer service and cost for mounting, balancing and spare tire removal and reinstall. I am impressed with their service and for saving me when I was in bad situation. read more

1 Star - Wheel Works Performed Unsafe, Dishonest, and Completely Unacceptable Work I am writing this review to get the direct attention of Wheel Works management, because what I discovered after my recent service is absolutely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about safety, honesty, and the quality of work being done here. After being told several front-end components were replaced, a follow-up inspection revealed the exact opposite: Outer front tie rods showed heavy oxidized residue, clear evidence they were not replaced as claimed. Inner tie rod on the driver side is absolutely NOT new--the condition makes it obvious no replacement occurred. Front boots were extremely loose and worn, and the passenger-side boot had completely failed/disconnected, which could easily cause damage to the rack & pinion assembly if left like this. Instead of using proper metal clamps, the shop used zip ties to attach the front passenger-side boot--an unprofessional and unsafe shortcut for a critical steering component. There were abnormal and excessive grease leaks and residue all around the assembly, indicating careless or incomplete work. Several suspension components showed premature wear and oxidation, again contradicting the claim that new parts were installed. To make matters worse, unreliable, cheap aftermarket parts were used instead of OEM parts, despite the cost and expectations of proper-quality repairs. The fact that I was charged for work that appears not to have been done--and in some cases done incorrectly or dangerously--makes this experience even worse. Not only was the service unprofessional, but it also put my vehicle's safety at risk. I strongly advise others to avoid this location. I will not be returning, and I am escalating this matter further. Management needs to take a serious look at the quality control and integrity of the technicians at this shop. read more

They sold us tires for our EV which barely lasted 2 years and 15K miles. We took the car to them for regular rotations as well (which we pre-paid for). When I told them they sold us the tires that barely lasted 2 years they claimed the prior sales person sold us the wrong tires and the ones we had weren't good for EVs. They always want to sell you something every time you go in. They must be paid on commission. read more

The technicians were unable to replace a thermostat. I went in with that very specific request and money to burn. I was called back an hour later telling me that my leak was coming from the intake despite active leaking from the thermostat housing. I ended up having to learn and perform the repair myself. After replacing the thermostat my leak went away, which tells me the technicians are either lazy or incompetent. read more

I had new tires installed at this shop, and they didn't mention any issues during or after the service. Shortly after leaving, my tire pressure warning light came on. I later discovered the TPMS sensors were not functioning -- something that wasn't a problem before the visit. When I returned, the shop claimed the sensor battery had died, but offered no diagnostic report or proof. They also said that a pre-scan -- which could've verified the sensor's condition before service -- is not standard and would've required an extra charge. That's a convenient excuse to avoid accountability. If a sensor fails immediately after tire service, it's reasonable to expect the shop to stand behind their work. Instead, I was left with broken sensor and no support. If you value transparency and customer care, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I simply came here to get an oil change and left out with an additional problem that was NOT caused by me. I received a call saying that the dip stick broke off when they pulled it out, so they said they can replace it for $40 , which already seemed like a red flag since most dip sticks especially for a 2010 dodge would usually be no more than $15, also felt strange to charge me when your team was the one that pulled it out and broke it . I decided to not make a big issue about it and told them to go ahead and replace it. I then have them call me back & tell me they are not able to remove the current dipstick as it is stuck. Now I understand an employee could have pulled out the dipstick and it accidentally broke, I get it , things happen. But to NOT offer a solution or fix the problem that was caused by your team makes it feel like a shady practice. I am now stuck with no dipstick to check my oil level, I really hope this can get resolved. read more

My tire pressure light came on and I did not know where to go. I saw wheel works and took a chance and pulled in. I saw a free air pressure check so I Pulled up. Picked up the air hose and was gonna check my tires. Travis walked over and offered to help. He checked for proper air pressure and kindly proceeded to check each of my tires. Shop replaced the wrong tire after waiting 3 hours and tried to blame it on me. No apology, nothing to rectify the situation. Pretty disappointed. Wait a little longer and go to America's Tire, this shops is not worth the visit. Update to add pictures: This is the state of my wheels when all said and done, they didn't even wipe off the substance they use to get tires on rim. Update 2: third picture other review. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Terrible communication right from the start. They had my car for a month, couldn't tell me what was wrong with it, couldn't communicate with me or the warranty company. Finally, after more than a month, they called me and told me my car was fixed and had replaced the engine. I showed up to get it and the check engine light was on and the engine was misfiring. In addition to that, the AC was no longer working when it worked perfectly fine prior to being in their hands. That's not even considering that the car was filthy and the tires all had low pressure as well. No one seemed to be able to tell me what was wrong or have any solutions for it. I attempted several times to speak to customer service and the manager, and nobody returned my communication attempts. I have since learned from another repair facility that they botched the engine install so badly that they completely ruined the new engine. Stay far, far away. I'm seriously considering legal action. read more

The previous purchase statement in the tire purchase said LIFETIME WHEEL BALANCE. Also, the web site states LIFETIME ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. So, we went to get this done. The manager STEPHEN DE LA ROSA said that he would not touch the tires and the had to be replaced. The tires have plenty of life on them. He said they were dated. STEPHEN said they can sell tires that are less than 3 years old AS NEW! Check to make sure that new tires are on the car. (Google how to find the date, it's easy). WW had sold us old (but legally new) tires then said they were too old to touch. DON'T GO HERE! DON'T TALK TO STEPHEN. IT was the last day of the month, I wonder if he just wanted to make is sales numbers. We went to another Wheel Works. No problem, they rotated and balanced the tires for nothing as promised in the purchase contract and on the web site. The Regional Manager per STEPHEN is ASHLEY BANET. This brother right here attempted to tell me I would have to pay 100 or $400 for a headlight replacement, but he could not tell me which price it would be until after they started the work. It was quite a crazy and by far the craziest mechanic encounter I've ever had. I went to speak with his mechanic about it, and he quickly declined service and proceeded to kick me out as he did not want his mechanic to reveal anything. By the way, I showed him the compartment in which you changed the headlight indicating that it was not the $400 big labor deal. instead, he insisted that I let them take my car and start the work and later on afterwards he would tell me if it's 100 or 400. I made an appointment for 4 tire replacements. My car was sitting in the parking lot for 1 hour before they worked on the car and it took another 1 hour 15 minutes for the tire replacements, a total of 2 hours 15 minutes I spent in the waiting room. I went to Wheel Works because they had a tire sale. I have been using Ameria's Tires for the last 20 years, they took an average of 1 hour in/out for 4 tire replacements with an appointment. I purchased the TPMS valve replacement. When I got home, only one valve cap was on the tires, which made me wonder if they even changed the TPMS valves. This will be my last time using Wheel Works. read more

Got a nail in my tire that I had bought (set of 4) from the Sunnyvale location (now closed), so I came to the Mtn View location for the repair. In the process of the repair the tech snapped off a lug bolt..he essentially blamed the previous tech for over tightening the lug nut as the reason. It cost me $350 to repair the broken lug nut. Unfortunate I suppose, but all I know is a Wheel Works employee is responsible, but I ended up paying for it. I feel they could or should have done more financially; offer a complimentary oil change or something. The tech was nice, polite and repaired the tire no problem....$450 later! I guess the gold tire protection plan doesn't cover this, being a loyal customer for decades is nice but none of that covers this, which is understandable. Add this to a couple years back, at the Sunnyvale location they did an oil change but replaced my oil pan nut without a new or old gasket, which caused all sorts of hassle!! I took it to my regular mechanic to replace the pan nut gasket and oil change...The manager at Sunnyvale did offer a complimentary oil change the next time...but I have no confidence in this company. How can you mess up a flat repair and an oil change?? That's a pretty low bar for getting your car serviced. Never coming back to Wheel Works. read more

Bait and switch. Requested an alignment for my model 3 on their website and was quoted $111.99. Made and appointment and brought the car in only to be told it would be $389 because they said Teslas have an undercover which is a lot of work to remove. This is not true - there are only a few bolts securing the panels and I've removed them easily in the past when working on the car myself. Very disappointing to see this place has gone downhill as I had used them several times in the past for my older gas powered vehicles. read more

So it is with some reluctance that I post this less than positive review because on one hand, people might get fired, and business might be negatively impacted. On the other hand, I really feel obligated to tell my story so that others don't go through the same nonsense that I was put through. This would be my second time using this garage. The first time they did an ok job so stupidly, I decided to return. The horn was not working. They determined that it was a small part under the steering column called a clock spring. It took them forever just to get the part, so I had to wait for that, then, finally I took it in. Upon completion the horn worked but they did not replace the cover in the back where they were working. I had to ask someone to come out to my car, bring tools and put it back together. Please take note, this was the second time this happened. All the buttons on either side of the steering column, plus the cruise control were busted. I brought it back in and really complained. Finally, the manager agreed to send me to the dealer to get this fixed which took an additional 10 days of waiting for parts, etc. Finally, after a couple of weeks of dealing with this, the dealer was able to fix it. Wheelworks paid in full for this, for which I am very grateful, because the final bill was around $1500 (mind you Wheelworks original charge was just under $900). So my advice is this, anything but new tires, or new battery (and make SURE you specifically request that they put everything back the way it was, otherwise they simply won't do it), go elsewhere! Granted they did make it right, but it was downright frustrating. I want to add, I do not know if this was just a case of them not really knowing what to do, or sloppy and careless work, but it should not have happened! read more

I went to replace my coils and spark plugs only for ALL FOUR to stop working within the next week. I then took my car to a different mechanic shop who said all the replaced coils and spark plugs were faulty. I feel robbed and deceived. This location has wasted my time and created many inconveniences for me. The parts used on my car were defective which just shows the quality this company provides. I have been coming to Wheel Works for a couple years now. I thought they were responsive and showed respect. But I was kind of disappointed today. I got 4 new tires from Wheel Works about a year ago. Recently my 2 front tires kept deflating. I brought it in for service. They claimed my 2 front tires were fine but my back tires had nails in them and they weren't fixable. I asked if the tires were under warranty and they said no. Hmm. I bought 2 new tires and they said these were under warranty. When I asked why these were under warranty and the 4 tires which was bought a year ago wasn't, they said I opted out from the warranty. I don't know. I felt it was kind of shady. read more

I wish I went on Yelp before going to this business. All I can do now is warn other people. Be very careful when you sign the work order. We went in to request only one item done on the estimate. All other things we did not want done. We specifically said we wanted Steering and Suspension work done and verbally confirmed with Travis, the guy helping us. Then we proceeded to sign on the keypad and left. They called us in the afternoon and said that we needed additional things done which would total around $3000. We asked why, we only requested Suspension and steering fixed how could it add up to this number. They said "well the work you authorized us to do was $2600" and they emailed us the work order. There was our signature under everything listed on the estimate but we thought we only signed for steering and suspension work. They did not give us a paper copy of the work order upon signing and there was no total due on the keypad screen, just a signature line. Very dishonest way to do business. When confronted Travis said that he told us the total due when we were signing, but both of us specifically remember that he did not otherwise we wouldn't have signed. Make it make sense, we requested $610 worth of job done and if he did say a different number we would not have signed. Now it's all he said she said and they kept our car until we were able to pay for it. Safe to say we will not be coming back. read more

Stay away from this location. They will diagnose, give you a quote, and not actually do work on your car if you are not car knowledgeable. I had my brakes and rotors done, but I still heard grinding noises. I had them recheck the issue and said that everything is fine. Do not trust this establishment. I brought it to another shop and they definitely said that my brake pads and rotors needed replacing and issue is now resolved. Very bad experience and very costly. I feel somewhat bad leaving a negative review because the customer service was really excellent and everyone was kind, but the actual car repair services were so so terrible. Despite making an appointment far in advance to get my tires changed, I still ended up having to wait 5 hours. I understand that these locations can get very busy and that there is a general labor shortage amidst an ongoing pandemic. But the very least you can do is be honest about how long the services are going to take. When I asked, I was told it would take no more than 1.5 hours and "likely would be less than that." Obviously that was extremely incorrect and I ended up being stuck there for significantly longer. When I finally managed to pick up my car with a fresh set of tires and started driving back home, the check air pressure light immediately came on. When I inspected the tires, I discovered the mechanic didn't put ANY caps on the tires....so they were just leaking air for who knows how long....And all of this after paying $500 Again, I am sympathetic to the current economic and public health conditions and how generally difficult it is to be a mechanic, but letting my tires leak air and having a ridiculous wait time is just not good service. I definitely won't be coming back to this location or this business in general. Get your car taken care of somewhere else. read more
