I wasn't sure if this place would be overhyped, but it was genuinely so good! The ramen was so flavorful, and filling. By the way - the spicy is not too spicy

The ramen here was SO good! Definitely recommend stopping by Gonzo's! The service was great and there was indoor and outdoor seating.

Super cute ramen spot! It's inside a shopping plaza that has lots of little shops and restaurants you can visit! The service was super quick even though the line looked a bit long! You order first then they seat you! The system works very well so you don't have to worry about keeping an eye out for a table while waiting in line. The food was delicious! I tried their tonkotsu ramen and asked them to make it spicy! They offered two different spice levels and I went with the lowest one!

I recently tried Gonzo with my boyfriend, and overall it was a good experience! The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with unique decor, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly, and everything looked fresh and well prepared. I'm a pretty picky eater, so ramen just wasn't really for me, which definitely affected my experience. My boyfriend, on the other hand, absolutely loved his meal and would definitely come back. Even though it wasn't my favorite personally, I could tell the quality was there, and I can understand why so many people enjoy this place.

Liked the look of this place as soon as I came in the decor was like china town feel They to our order right away and made sure we had everything we needed The food was exellent for all of you ramen lovers and the presentation was exemplary I also had a hazy ipa enjoy....

We have seen this place before and finally got a chance to come. We all got a ramen and gyoza. The Gyoza was half chicken and half pork and it was delicious. My ramen was the spicy tonkotsu and it had great flavor without being too spicey. The vibe here is awesome and the decor is pretty dope. The service was amazing and they even had the entire staff come out to sing happy birthday to me. Seriously, these guys went above and beyond to make our experience special and we cannot wait to come back.

Offering a menu of ramen and rice bowls, GONZO! freshly prepared my pickup order very quickly after I ordered in person. AMBIANCE The indoor space pays homage to Japan with paper lanterns, anime figurines. There's also plenty of covered outdoor seats. FOOD 5/5 Chicken Karaage: freshly fried, crisp, flavorful served w a lemon wedge and mayo

GONZO! is located in one of my favorite little areas of Carlsbad. There was a line to order, but I liked how they get a table ready for you so you have somewhere to sit down after you do order. While we both really enjoyed our ramen from here, it was also, I'm sad to say, not very memorable. The chashu pieces were very good, but the broths were really lacking in flavor (especially the black garlic). I would be happy to come back and eat here again, but it's one of those places that I would forget about if I didn't have pictures, ya know?

Delicious! Pretty good ambience for a Sunday ramen date night. I got the Gonzo Black but next time I will definitely get the Red for the spicy warmth. Staff was great, circulating around to check on people.

Very yummy spot, one of the only ramen spots my partner goes to. The staff is friendly and I love the order at the counter set up. They have live music on certain dates and expanded seating.

I feel so inclined to give this little gem 5 stars! Atmosphere is adorable, I especially love the wood interior with the hanging lanterns, great vibes here. Service is fantastic, the workers are all so friendly and seem to like what they're doing. Brought my daughter for her birthday and asked if they did anything special for the occasion, in which they brought her out some ice cream and all sang happy birthday with us, now that's impressive! Not everyone does that these days. Our ramen was good, but...I ordered the vegetarian and I don't care much for the vegetable broth, I wish I knew before I ordered that they had miso both, that would have been my choice. Love that they have gluten free noodles, would like it if there was a choice to put some broccolini on top, however it was still really good, can't wait to come back and would totally recommend to my friends who are looking for a good ramen house.

A fantastic experience. Gonzo kept showing up on my yelp feed when I was searching for some eats after a long day at Legoland. So we made the trip there. It's a lovely decor, massive size and quite busy at 8pm at night on a weekday. It's a great place to hang with friends. I really like how they do seating. You queue up for an order at cashier first and the staff then finds you a suitable place to sit. Lots of art and posters on the wall to look at while waiting for the ramen to come out. The service was quick and efficient. The ramen was legit good. Was skeptical of the name, but he food was good. They also have a full bar/lounge area and al fresco dining on the patio outside. It's a great spot, next time I'm in town, I'll definitely check it out. Really liked the downtown area at night. Seems lively and a good place to hang. The tonkatsu was really yummy, rice broth, I drank the whole bowl. Great char siu, good flavor.

This is by far my favorite ramen in north county. I was excited when it first opened because the reviews were fantastic. They didn't lie. I've been quite a bit over the years so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed yet. I've actually been craving it for a while now but don't get to down to the village that often. I was visiting a friend last night and knew what I wanted after. The parking last night was awful. They have changed a lot of spots to 20 minutes in the parking lot for the mall. It was more like a summer night down there than March so we had to park a few blocks away. There was no line when we ordered and there was plenty of seating. We sat outside in the covered area. It was a bit breezy due to the Santa Ana's but it was still pleasant. I got the black garlic, one friend got the spicy red and another just got the plain tonkasu. We all enjoyed our ramen. The staff checked regularly to make sure we were enjoying our meal and to see if we needed anything. Will definitely be back the next time I crave ramen

Are they open on New Year's Day and Eve?

Hi Alice, Yes, we will be open on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day! Please check our Yelp page…

    Do you need reservations?

No reservations are needed, walk-in only!

Is it a pet friendly establishment?

They have outdoor seating where you can bring your dog. Indoors is fairly small, not sure if they allow dogs inside.

What's the largest party they can accommodate for? Looking to celebrate a birthday dinner with ~10+ people.

Gonzos has very limited seating inside, but outside they do have picnic tables that can probably have or hold large parties. I would strongly recommend calling first and have them advise if they can accommodate that.

For anyone that has been to Japan, how close to authentic is this? Or are they an American version of ramen?

It's legit! 2nd Gen Japanese here and trust me this is on point. Plus the owner is Japanese from Japan.

Is it fair to say you have gluten free noodles but no possibility of a gluten free broth? Hoping I'm…

We offer gluten free noodles (shirataki noodles) but not gluten free broth. After we tried doing gluten free broth, we realized that we can make gluten free ramen but cannot guarantee our ramen is 100% gluten free due to chance of cross contact from…

What kind of noodles do they serve? It was really good!

Regular ramen was egg ramen noodles, they have a gluten free shirataki noodle made of konjac

Is this place have seating for large families with young children?

Yes we are able to accommodate large families with children.

    Do they take reservations?

No, first come first serve walk ins only!

Do you have gluten free ramen and broth?

We offer gluten free noodles made out of shirataki (konyac yams). Although, our broth contains a small portion of wheat.

Does Gonzo have happy hour and if so, what days/times?

Daily Happy Hour from 2pm - 6pm $3 Sapporo Draft Beer 16oz $5 Sapporo Draft Beer 32oz $1 off gyoza $1 off edamame

The restaurant is small, cozy, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. It isn't well suited for larger parties as most tables are tables for 2 unless tables are pushed together. They do have patio seating and heaters outside, but it didn't appeal to me being so close to the street/loud traffic. Gabriel checked us in, seated us, took our order, served our food and waited on us for majority of our visit, I would give him 10 stars just on his impeccable service. The food though? The food was AMAZING!! Everything we ordered was the best we have ever had anywhere. The buns were very kawaii (and we ordered ever single one to try). The fillings were savory, but we also loved their seasonal panda bun with ube filling while the kids preferred the nutella bunny. Best chicken karaage we've had by far, the coating almost tasted like it was rolled in kinako powder. The ramen broth was "chef's kiss" with so much flavors, the crab rangoon were jumbo and the filling was delicious, but the chicken katsu was also the best we have had anywhere (including Hawaii). The breading was just top tier crunchy while the chicken was thick and juicy. There isn't one bad thing I could say about this place, from the service to the food, I would make the drive out here again. Super duper, highly recommend, don't sleep on this little place, you'll regret it!

Since I'm a lover of information, I looked up "Harumama". It's a combination of two words: the Korean word haru, which means "day," and "mama". Together, it translates to "mom's daily food". The name reflects the restaurant's mission to serve dishes prepared with the same love, care, and attention that a mother gives to her family's everyday meals. How lovely is that?! Anyhow, I was able to find street parking and walked into a clean dining space with a nice atmosphere. It wasn't too busy. Again, the staff was very attentive and provided stellar service. My food came out pretty fast. I loooved how my Drunken Noodles had the right amount of chicken and peanuts. Overall, another fun flavorful time. I'm still a Harumama fan. I can't wait to try more dishes. I highly recommend this location to the Yelp Community!!

We ordered the Spicy Garlic Edamame, Garlic Bomb Ramen, Ichitaru Ramen, and the Tsuke Men Ramen. The Edamame came out in a timely manner but we had a much longer wait for our Ramen. Hearty, warm, full-flavored. The noodles had the perfect bite. This place is a good addition to Poinsettia Village.

The place wasn't too busy but had decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try (for the win!). They were able to accommodate our large group with seating, which was really appreciated. Once we sat down and placed our orders, things initially seemed fine. But then the service slipped. When I asked for water, they only brought out three cups, just for the kids. We had to ask multiple times before my wife and I finally got ours. Most of the food arrived, but my eldest daughter's meal was completely missing. After we inquired, it took another 15 minutes for it to come out. It really felt like they had forgotten half our order. The fried rice and broth arrived even later. On the positive side, the food tasted fresh and was genuinely good overall. What really stood out negatively, though, was the staff's response every time we said "thank you." Instead of "you're welcome" or "no problem," it was always just "Yep!" It came across as dismissive and disrespectful. While the food was solid, the service and basic human interaction need real improvement. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll probably look for other options.

Definitely will come back and it was an awesome value at only $25 a person.

I want to start by saying that I very much enjoyed eating at Tabu Shabu. It's very fair to state…read morethat my three star experience is mostly my own doing more so than the restaurant itself. Our server was fantastic, the setup clean, and the menu was fairly easy to navigate. Where it fell apart for me all came after that. This is not my style of cooking. So many places I've been to, where you cook your own food on a grill or hot plate at your table, you're mainly dealing with thin cuts of meat, salt and pepper, and possibly a dipping sauce. This makes the cooking simple, a quick sear, a light crust on the beef or pork, and the finished product is basic and delicious. Shabu, though ... it's boiled meat. That's not to say that Tabu Shabu isn't good, but unless you're really adept at making soups, it's easy to be completely out of your element. And I can safely say I was a bit over my head at this restaurant. You start with your broth, where I am ashamed to admit that instead of opting for the Tonkostu with its deep and rich fatty flavor, I chose the basic umami of the White Miso. Because of that, I spent most of my meal mistakenly chasing flavors I would normally find in a Ramen Shop. They give you a plate of chopped herbs to add and some basic instructions ... I like garlic, so I added the whole thing, radish sound alright, so add in the whole ball, what was the last thing I put in? They give you a few squeeze bottles of oils with paper labels ... this one makes it more sour, this one makes it more spicy, this one has sesame, and I'm too timid to add enough of any to truly add to the flavor of the broth, so it just keeps that basic umami flavor without being as salty as it should be. Then you have a plate of vegetables to steep in your creation. Cabbage, broccoli, spinach, bok choy, tofu ... all of it serves as a way of soaking up that broth you've made. Other options, like the carrots, mushrooms, and squash, become sweet and tender after taking their turns in the pot. And they're nice as they offer a different flavor other than that umami. And then there's the meat. A wide variety of options ranging from salmon, to chicken, to pork, all the way down to multiple versions of beef. But, all of the meats we ordered seem to differ only in texture after spending some time in that broth. Some fell apart on the tongue, some still had a nice chew, but all shared that umami from the pot, with an aftertaste of beefy flavor before swallowing. After a few initial pieces, I found myself thankful for the dipping sauces to distract me from how boring I had made my broth to be. You also get a choice of rice, which I don't think you really need. You get a choice of noodles, which they give you a good amount where it doesn't fill you up with carbs. And anything left over is readily bagged up to eat at home after the flavors mix together and mature. In the end, it's a very filling and fairly healthy meal. I think it's difficult to not compare this to eating a bowl of Pho or Ramen. All the ingredients are there, just instead of eating it with a spoon, you pull out the individual bits with some chop sticks and pretend you're not eating boiled beef and spinach. If I were a better cook, or had another ten visits worth of practice, Tabu Shabu could easily be 4-5 stars. As it is, though, I think I would rather just go to GONZO and get another chef's creation to be sure of the flavors I want. Regardless, I want to come back here and try again one day. The variety of options and the wait staff alone are enough for me to learn more and expand my Shabu options, as well as recommend this place to others.

The meal was overall delicious, and while there are already plenty of five-star reviews, a few specific details stood out to us: The Starters Excelled: We actually found the creative appetizers and starters to be the absolute highlight of the meal (my favorite was the oysters but everyone had their own!) , even outshining the more expensive entrees (notably the steak which was a little underwhelming, though the fish was good). The Famous Broccoli Lives Up to the Hype: Yes, the roasted broccoli was truly exceptional! Superb Drinks & Kid-Friendly Touches: The craft cocktails were delicious, and we appreciated that they are highly accommodating to families with a dedicated kids' menu. Room for Dessert Improvement: The only miss of the night was the baked Alaska, which we didn't particularly love. I think I would try the Smores and/or head over to the nearby ice cream shop for another local flavor. Overall, it is a wonderful, highly versatile restaurant that we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area. We can't wait to return!

I would say campfire focuses on flavor blasts, with enhancement of the food through certain garnishes and sauces. The portions are not very large, but they are filling depending on how many different items you get. Our server was very kind and helped guide us on our journey. We had an outdoor table around 6:15 PM and it was absolutely gorgeous. Inside seemed nice too, but I did enjoy outside more due to the calmer and quieter atmosphere. I would highly recommend trying this place out with a group of four.
