Although I usually frequent this location on weekends, I decided to go for lunch mid week. Although it was exactly noon and it was busy, everything seemed disorganized and chaotic. I really loved that they had grab and go items prepped, including salads, American chop suey and cold thai noodles (which were very tasty by the way), but the overall atmosphere was different that the weekends- even when they are busy/rushed. It seemed like the staff were getting in each others' way and just general confusion. Food/coffee was still good, but I think I'll stick to visiting on weekends from now on. read more

We love this place. This is a regular go-to for me, my wife, and my two little girls on a Saturday or Sunday morning. It can be hard to get a table, but it's well worth it. They have great fresh baked goods, a small menu of breakfast sandwiches (they have a bigger lunch menu), and a good espresso bar. Because I work across the street, I get to take advantage of this place a lot. After working my way through the items on the standard menu, I now find myself usually choosing one of their daily specials. The stuffed tuscan breads are my favorite, but I appreciate the variety of the sandwich specials and soups. The ingredients are high quality, the coffee is great (especially the iced coffee) and the bakery items (on those days when I can't resist) are always delicious! it took them awhile to work out the kinks - the speed and quality of service is vastly improved from when they first opened - and I love the fact that they all know and remember my name and greet me personally every time. One of my favorite weekend activities is to go for a walk up to Good Day. I've been going here for about a year so I feel I can finally write a review. The food here is delicious. You will pay a premium for fresh baked goodies but it's worth it. The staff is friendly and will bring your meal to you on the patio or inside if it needs to be cooked or heated. Their pastry is buttery and flaky and adds an additional layer of amazing to the already rich quiche. I have been going to the Good Day Cafe for there excellent cold brew ice coffee a couple times each week , so finally decided to try one of there sandwiches. I opted for the pilgrim, which ended up being 2 thin slices of turkey(deli meat) with cranberry sauce on untoasted bread. I was quite underwelmed. The iced latte is not as stong as the ice coffee. My wife and I are regulars for Sunday morning breakfast at "The Good Day". We love so many things about it. The food is always very fresh, well prepared and the atmosphere is warm an inviting. I prefer it to any of the local bagel places for breakfast. The soups are wonderful - try Michele's chowda on Fridays made with sweet baby clams - to die for! Had a wicked craving for one of their lox and cream cheese bagels. Paired it with a dark roast and the most delicious pastry I think I've ever had. Can't remember what they called it, even though I asked. It was round, flaky and buttery and looked like phyllo dough in a pattern on top. Delish! Ask them what they recommend. Good coffee, good bagel but super messy and took a while to get. I have a feeling the the 2 girls working at the counter don't have any prior experience working at a busy coffee shop. Instead of one girl taking your order and other putting the order together, they are both running around making orders and having people wait at the counter in line to pay.Not very efficient. I am so happy to have found the Good Day Cafe in the area. This local business is just what the area needs! The location is perfect, right off the main drag with both outside and inside seating. The interior layout of the bakery adds a special something, open spacing for seating, a beautiful display of goods as well as a creative and fun method of displaying their menu, and best of all it is an open bakery, meaning you can see the bakers work while you eat! My absolute favorite item to get at the Good Day Cafe would have to be the "Donut Muffin" it is absolutely to die for! It is so delicious, I even crave one as I am writing this! You will finish a first and be pondering making that walk up to the cash register for another! I have only been in for baked goods and coffee and I will say both have been fantastic! On the downside, I will agree with other reviewers that the prices are too high and they should consider lowering them a bit. First, they bring my order to me and make us wait 20 minutes to learn - only after I inquired - that my daughter's order of a stuffed croissant wasn't coming because they just discovered they didn't have any left. Second, after she placed an order for a substitute quiche, she waited another 20 minutes only to be delivered a slice that was severely burnt both top and bottom. When she went to the counter to pick it up, a staff member was heard asking the owner/manager whether the quiche should be served because it was so burnt. He waved it on. Shame on them - if I owned a restaurant, nothing like that would ever leave my kitchen. Why did we stay? My order of strata was very good, but I had to give up half of it to a very hungry 15-year-old while waiting for her half-edible quiche, which she devoured to the sound of her stomach growling. Oh, and their celebrated maple bacon donut muffin? Dry muffin, and sugary frosting that obliterated the taste of the bacon. Save your $3. With steep prices to boot, we'll never return. My family and I often go to the Good Day Café for breakfast on Sunday mornings. We live in the area and walk over for yummy pastries. My husband loves the cinnamon rolls and popovers that they have every weekend and I struggle to choose between the stuffed croissants and the lox and cream cheese on bagels. Our girls love the Egg Sandwiches and the weekend egg special- a scrambled egg and avocado wrap. They use fresh bagels from Iggy's bakery- I know they're fresh because when we get there early enough, sometimes the bagels haven't even arrived. The owners are often in on the weekends which is nice to see. They seem to really like their customers- I've seen them take the time to sit down with customers while they eat breakfast. The girls behind the counter are also very friendly and professional. A couple seem like they are high school or college aged but still very interested in making sure that the customers have a positive experience. My only complaint would be the prices of some of the drinks. I'm a sucker for a hazelnut iced latte in the summer, but when I order a large, I end up paying over $4.00 because of the flavor shot. It's a great family run coffee shop and I'm glad to have it down the street! read more

I went here one day with a group of moms for the first time and thought it was great. It's got a cute atmosphere and I really liked the mocha latte. I've been back many times since my first visit and even brought other people with me. Today, I was very disappointed and probably won't be returning. I decided this afternoon that I was in the mood for a mocha latte and so I packed up the baby and hurried to get there before they closed. I got there in time and I was also excited to see that their special was still a dark chocolate mocha, which I planned to get as a surprise treat for my husband. The woman who took my order was clearly incompetent. I had to repeat my order multiple times and she had a very difficult time putting in the register. I got my two lattes and headed out the door just as they were locking up. After I got my daughter in the car and sat down myself, I put the cups in my cup holders and went to drink mine. I see that one cup says caramel and the other says dark chocolate. So both drinks were wrong. However, with them locked up already and my newborn in the car, I wasn't about to get out and ask for new drinks. And it's not like I ordered crazy complicated drinks. I was so disappointed not only because I really wanted my mocha latte, but also because I live in North Haverhill so it's a bit of a trip to go there and lattes aren't cheap drinks. The sandwiches taste like homemade-perhaps even better... And perfection takes time. So I don't mind the wait. Let me start off by saying that the food here is great, but it's not worth the hassle. I work in the building so it's nice that there's a spot that I can run to whenever I want something quick, but lately that's not the case. The workers up front are friendly and really try their best to keep the line moving, but it's the crew on the other side that really turn me off the place. They are constantly yelling back at the front workers which does nothing whatsoever to help the problem that they are yelling about and just causes more delays. The woman who seems to be in charge doesn't seem to have proper management skills and takes it out on the employees. I've noticed the frequent changes to their staff, and honestly it doesnt surprise me. On the rare occasions I decide to take a chance and order a sandwich, it is very good, but not worth the time and the price. I also don't like the way they shout out the names for the sandwich orders as if I were a dog. The baked goods are delicious, and honestly are the only reason I drop in once in awhile. The muffins are amazing, especially when the baker decides to change it up once in awhile. I've noticed that the best times to go are in the morning. Then it's usually not that busy and the people working at that time are much more friendly and organizied. The baker, I have yet to catch her name, is very friendly and has definate skill. If you go early in the morning, you're guareenteed correct and good service if the women with the very short red hair or the asian girl are there, though unfortuanely I haven't seen her there in awhile. The espresso drinks are also really good, though I would only order one if you have the time to wait. It seems as if they don't have much experience in making beverages and I've noticed that the quality has decreased in the last couple of weeks. Basically, this place is hit or miss. If you're looking for a quick muffin and a coffee, then this is the place you want to go. But if you're looking for a nice latte or a sandwich, you'd have better luck looking for another spot. read more

I sat at the counter where I could get a clear view of the young lady preparing my meal. I was actually busy eating my muffin and a tad annoyed that the plate muffin was on was still wet! Regardless, I was really hungry so when i did happen to glance up she was finishing up & plating my sandwich when i noticed a part of the sandwich (couldn't tell if it was the egg or cheese since it was white) fell off onto a dishtowel clearly used to dry the dishes it was next to. The young lady proceed to pick up and place back in the sandwich and gave it to me, i told her "was that the egg that fell, i dont want it" so she told me no just the cheese. I said again "i dont want it witht that then." instead of politely turning around and putting the new slice of cheese, this yound lady actually had the audacity to make a face as if my request was too mcuh to ask for. I asked for a new piece of cheese to be used. If it wasnt because me and my pregnant self werent starving i would have gladly asked for my refund and left. I am still in shock by this, more so by the employees reaction. Mistakes happen, you apologize, fix it, and as a customer I'll understand. read more

My on star review is not based on the food but on the customer service or lack thereof. My husband and I have been here several times for breakfast and overall the food is very good. However, what I am assuming to be the owner/manager is very rude and acts like she could care less about her customers. I was introduced to this place from our good friends who have used the yelp groupon "10$ for $20" by showing the groupon on their phone on more than one occasion without any problems. When I purchased the "groupon" for myself she told me there is no way to redeem it on my phone and I would need to print it out (even though my friends had used it on their phone). Fine. I printed it out and went back today to use it. The cashier stated "we haven't run that deal in a long time" which my response was my friend used it two months ago. He then went to ask the manager/owner woman about it to which she stated it expired when the date on the coupon clearly said Aug 2015. She then replied with well there is no way to redeem it. I then said "no you told me to print it out and bring it here which is what I did. Her reply?! "I'll take it today and then I'm removing it from yelp." No apologies or understanding whatsoever. That's fine if you don't want the coupon up but 1. Remove it and 2. Don't be mad at your customers for buying it?! Seems like bad business to me and she has been rude on several occasions.
