If you want to feel completely ripped off and unsatisfied, please feel free to visit Good Day Café. I work across the street and end up going there because it is convenient, but every time I talk myself back into giving it another try, I am regretfully disappointed. It is one of those places you really want to like. It has a great atmosphere, the staff is decently nice, but the food is only 'okay' and definitely not worth the $20 you will spend on a sandwich and a drink. They also don't offer small drinks (so you HAVE to pay for a medium or large), and for all of you true New Englanders out there that only drink Iced Coffees: count on paying extra for an iced drink versus a hot one (aka: $2.50 for a hot macchiato (+0.55 if you want a flavor) vs. $3.25 for a iced one (and no, the cup isn't bigger but they do fill it with lots of ice). If you want a salad or sandwich, don't bother trying to get it made with or without the ingredients listed - they will get it wrong every single time. And if you get a bagel, it will be burned... So anyways, I wouldn't exactly suggest going to not-so-Good Day Café. And if you are hungry for lunch and in the area - go to Jaime's next door - at least there you can get your lunch card punched and get a free meal every 5 lunches you buy (and you will spend the same amount of money with sides/they will get your order right). read more

If it wasn't for convenience I'm not sure anyone would even go here. The food is often bland and takes forever to be served. They either hire people who can't execute their job responsibilities or have the worst training program in the history or pouring coffee into a cup. Today I ordered the new 350 calorie egg white turkey sausage flat bread sandwich which what about $7.00. Yes folks 7 dollars and once you travel back to your office feeling ripped off you find they did a better job ripping you off than you knew. In the new Egg white turkey sausage flat bread sandwich there is NO TURKEY SAUSAGE. I feel like I have to pat myself on the back and say CONGRATS you let them FAIL AGAIN!!!! I stopped by yesterday to grab a quick chai and croissant...so I'm solely basing this on my first experience and it was quick. Grew up in North Andover so I was curious about this place. Very cute when you walk in...coffee house concept is great. Impression of whoever was waiting on me...bored & not overly customer service friendly...when you work in an industry that caters to people all day...you have to at least ACT like you like people! I always say "Well maybe she/he was having a bad day" but this is a huge issue in this industry. The girl who made my chai and handed it to me seemed friendly though...not to many other people smiling from what I could tell. Iced spice chai was good. I also bought a "Middle Eastern" salad to eat later at work , and, being Middle Eastern myself, there wasn't much about it except a tiny bit of hummus & tabbouleh (feta is Greek not Middle Eastern just FYI lol)..lots of lettuce. The chocolate croissant was good but I wish they offered to heat it up a bit. Seemed a bit pricey...$15 and some change but maybe that's the norm for all this stuff now. I work across the street and there weren't many places to eat in the area so I was excited to see a sandwich place open up that differed from the sub and pizza shops in the area. I've been in on multiple occasions and have never been completely satisfied when I left. I gave them the the benefit of the doubt at first, since they were new and you sometimes have to work out kinks, but now its just ridiculous--nothing is ever right. How hard is it to make a sandwich in less then 10 minutes? I mind as well go to the store, get the ingredients and make it myself in the amount of time I'm waiting. Why can you NEVER remember to toast the bread when I ask? Why does it cost me almost $13 to get a sandwich (with no sides, and seriously...$1.50 for cheese to be added to a sandwich?)? And lastly, its great how nice everyone is, but next time I don't want a cookie as a sorry, I want my sandwich made correctly. Overall the food is good, if you have the patience to wait over 20 minutes to get a sandwich (even sometimes toast in the morning...). They need to work on their front-of-house. Your staff has obviously never worked in a fast-paced lunch environment...its killing your business. Verdit: Even though it has the potential to be convenient for me, I'd rather go out of my way. This is my new favorite place for meeting friends for coffee. Great ambiance, great coffee and the food we've had - strata, quiche and croissants- were all very good. Good Day Cafe is awesome! I have been there for breakfast and lunch and I have hired them to cater several significant events. In fact they catered an event for me recently in which I hosted over 100 people. I had numerous requests for their contact as everyone at my event commented on how incredible everything was. In short, the food is unbelievable and the service is superb! Their pricing is absolutely consistent with what they offer. To the folks that have commented on the prices, no their pricing is not consistent with McDonalds. Found my way here thru a friend who gifted me with pumpkin whoopie pies... wow, what a treat! I've had lunch here (to go) twice and have been wonderfully surprised both times. My first lunch was their chicken salad on a 7 grain bread. The chicken salad was flavorful and not covered with mayo. My 2nd lunch was even better ... the southwestern pork with a spicy mayo. The pork was sliced from a roast with what I thought was a mango-like spread. It had a "kick" but wasn't spicy, which was totally fine with me as I'm not a fan of spicy food. I couldn't resist the whoopie pies calling out my name so I had the red velvet whoopie pie ... though good, not as good as the pumpkin ones which I believe may be seasonal. Service is friendly and quick. The only downside is finding available parking near the eatery but parking is available in a lot towards the back of the building. A great stop! read more

I went in for some coffee and a pastry, which all look amazing and ordered a decadent looking maple bacon frosted donut muffin (which tasted great). As I ordered my coffee I asked for lite ice as I always do (don't like paying for a cup of ice with a little coffee). The cashier got my pastry while a man behind her got my coffee. He apparently didn't hear my request for lite ice as he proceeded to fill up my cup with ice. I questioned it and he re did it to my request. But then began telling me about the coffee and how it was stronger and so on. I explained to him why I always request lite ice and how I prefer to pay for coffee and not ice as I can purchase a bag of ice for a dollar. He and I according to him understood where each was coming from and concluded the conservation. I then went outside to enjoy the day (already 80 degrees at 9:30) on their patio. Having thought my interaction was completed I began to enjoy my decadent treat and had only gotten 2 bites out of it when a woman (I believe the owner) came out and said did you have a question about the coffee? Somewhat confused I said no because I didn't have any questions at all. She went on to explain that they do everything by the poor and that if I wanted lite ice I couldn't get any more coffee. Now as the customer I find it ridiculous that the owner would chase me down outside to argue with me over 2oz of coffee. I told her that if I pay for a cup of coffee that I should get a cup of coffee. When I got to heavenly or Perfecto's they never ever have questioned me about lite or no ice and they happily give me (the customer) what I want. They even know me by name because I am a good customer that patrionizes their businesses frequently. I live in close proximity to the Good Day Cafe but the bad customer service by this owner has caused me to not have a good day! The only reason I gave this cafe a 2 star rating is because they have good food. If the owner only knowingly gives customers a cup that's only half full of coffee I'd say stay away, your being ripped off. read more

A good friend recommended Good Day Café - in fact, she raved about it. Having never been misguided by this friend before, we decided to check it out. It is an absolute gem!!! A quaint spot set in the amazing old mill building in North Andover, it is simply charming and the service could not be better. And the food? Tremendous. Everything they serve is freshly made...and fantastic. We ordered two sandwiches - a chicken salad in a Syrian wrap and 'The Pilgrim,' sliced turkey with lettuce, stuffing and cranberry compote served on 7 grain bread. The chicken salad was delicious (not too much mayo) and generous BUT, a special nod to the turkey. FANTASTIC!!! We were so taken with the food we brought home a freshly-made, still steaming Stuffed Tuscan bread with cheese, tomato, and broccoli for dinner. Again, out of this world. My favorite thing to do on Saturday & Sunday mornings is to take my 2 dogs for their morning walk and run in for a cuppa joe and a pastry to go! While GDC's hot coffee is great, their COLD-brewed iced coffee is fabulous and gives a nice caffiene jolt! I have never had a bad pastry, that's the problem... It's so hard to choose... But my favorite is their chocolate chip cinnamon muffin, their donut muffin and their berry crumb coffee cake-hard to choose just one! They also do great whoopie pies of the month. They have lots of other great breakfast foods (I always take house guests for a nice eat-in meal) and have a wonderful lunch menu too, while this is a great "walk to" destination for me, it is well worth the drive for anyone else who wants to check it out... I have been to the cafe a quite few times now,so with that being said I am not basing my review on 1 visit.I have been there during the week and the weekend. I give it 4 stars because the food has been spot on for me. I had the Bullfinch on a sourdough bread and it was very good.Also breakfast on the weekend bagel are always so fresh On the weekends customer service everyone is so friendly.Few times have been a gentleman or a young girl at the register.While waiting for my order the woman making my lox sandwich,suggested that I try the chive cream cheese with that.It was very good! We love the Good Day Café! The perfect place to walk to for a hot cup of coffee and a yummy pastry. Very child friendly and plenty of space to park a stroller- the kids love the donut muffins. The sandwiches are delicious and on a nice day you can sit outside. Atmosphere is inviting and staff very friendly. We have also ordered their pastry tray of bite size desserts on multiple occasions (whoopie pies, mini brownies, 7 layer bars...) and we have always been extremely pleased with the quality and presentation of the trays. Great ambiance here...and the food is delicious. The staff is friendly and go the extra mile to make it like you want. Their ice coffee is cold brewed so it's very smooth. The bagel sandwiches are yummy, oh and the quieche is all home cooked and large portioned. We go for lunch after 1pm so we are sure to get a table. In the summer there is outside seating too. The previous lady said they were out of maple doughnut muffins but that's because everything is baked fresh and sometimes they do run out by late morning. Can't believe anyone was rude there but, oh well, everyone has their opinion. If you are looking for fresh food with no preservatives, give this place a try. read more
