I work long hours during the week, and had only had ONE Sunday free to move a 2br apartment from Orange County to Valley Glen (just over 50 miles). I used Yelp to get multiple quotes for movers and I picked Good Deeds over other 5 star movers because they had the most reviews. The online support via Yelp messaging was responsive. The confirmation call was friendly, and the move went very smooth. I would definitely work with this company again. Edwin was an outstanding supervisor and got the job done. It took 8 hours because drive time, by regulations, needs to be calculated as 2X time. That was just over $1000. A bit more than the rough estimate, but still fair. The crew works hard so I did tip generously, it's the right thing to do. Edwin made it a point to split the tip evenly and ensure that I saw that each of the crew got their share. I didn't pre-pack most of my dishes and food, I probably should have but I thought they'd have dishpack boxes and paper. They did provide some boxes (10 came with the service) but didn't have paper. Oh well, we improvised with my paper towels and paper plates and handled carefully loading, securing and unloading and nothing broke. Upon move in, we couldn't fit all the cabinets where we wanted them so they re-moved a few items within the new apartment. Upon delivery, they do ask for the wardrobe boxes (with the bars) to be returned, but they leave the rest. If you want extra help packing and unpacking, you can specify but we did most of it ourselves, and it saved a little bit of time and money. All good things can be improved... one of the crew took a few calls and fiddled with his phone a little bit and when you are paying by the hour, it's a bit frustrating, but it was such a minor thing, I decided it was not worth discussing with the supervisor. The team, led by Sal, worked 7 long hours on my move from the San Gabriel Valley to South Bay. Initially, I was impressed at how everyone grabbed misc items that I had not yet packed and expected to pack/move myself later. After my walkthrough of my house, however, I was dismayed to find they took my four floor lamps but not the glass enclosures. My hall closet was emptied EXCEPT the vacuum cleaner attachments and table lamp. One bathroom was completely overlooked. Their empty tape rolls were found at various places. I was NOT happy with their lack of protection for my 1953 antique stove. Furniture pieces were wrapped in blankets, but nothing for my stove. The damage I found was inevitable and heartbreaking. They wrapped my dresser and carried it UPSIDE DOWN! Who does that?? Every piece of loose trinkets was scattered. I'm still finding things in odd places. One guy DRAGGED my elliptical into my workout shed instead of getting help. Someone shoved SO MUCH packing paper into two silverware drawers of my sideboard that the drawers would barely open an inch. How in the heck is anyone supposed to get ANYTHING out with 1" access? After my queen size bed-frame was reassembled and I had the chance to sit on it, my bed made creaking noises that had not existed before the move. I called Sal to let him know something was wrong, and he gave me a flip template response, "Your bed has been assembled safely. Be sure that it's up against the wall for proper support." GMAFB Next day, my sister crawled underneath and found that none of the three vertical supports were tightened. After dropping off my frig at my brother's, second stop, they tried to force it through the sliding glass door. Didn't fit but they left the door half off its rail. When my brother asked where the shelves were? "Didn't come with shelves." WHAT? He found the shelves in a nearby trash bin!! I do NOT recommend Good Deeds Moving! read more

This was the best moving company I have worked with (and there's been a few)! We got to work with Terry, Dewan, Ron, and Kevin. They were professional, quick, and good guys. They had a good sense of humor and made the stress of moving feel lighter. We had a big move from OC to Corona. It took about 3 hours to get everything loaded up into a 26 foot truck which they provided. They also had boxes, wardrobe boxes, and wrapped all of our TV's, wood furniture, couches, and anything that was breakable. They took an hour lunch which was a welcomed break for everyone. I have mixed feelings about my move from Irvine to Long Beach. This was my first time hiring professional movers, and I shopped around for companies that were experienced with pianos. On 4/28, I asked for a quote from Good Deeds because the associate (apologies, I did not write down her name) who spoke to me over the phone mentioned that the movers would be able to dissemble and assemble the piano if needed to get it to its destination. After going over the specifics of the move (upright piano transported from first story place to second story apartment), I followed her instructions to text her five preferred moving dates over the next two weeks. I was instructed to wait for a response as they checked the possible dates. On 4/30, I received a photo of a handfilled quote from someone else in the company that did not specify a moving date in it. Confused, I contacted Good Deeds but did not get a response. I started packing as a precaution. On 5/3 at 7:30AM from Good Deeds called asking if I was ready for my move. I told them I was not ready for the move as I did not know it was even booked, as I had not received any confirmations. They said that they were ready and could give me two hours to pack as much as possible. I contacted my work to let them know I had a moving mixup, and then packed as much as I could until Good Deeds arrived. I continued packing as the three movers skillfully arranged my furniture into the moving truck. The three movers were fast and helpful. In the end, I was able to get about 85% of my stuff ready to go I decided to cut my losses for the last 15% as I was concerned about hitting traffic. When it came time to move the piano, I watched with worry as these three men fought gravity to get this piano up the stairs. They exhausted every muscle in their bodies hefting it up without taking it apart. The piano, wrapped generously in blankets, creaked as they tried their best to get it to the second floor. I was scared, but I wanted to trust their experience since the three movers were what suggested. Once done, my piano's paint was chipped and the pedals were broken. I saved whatever paint chips I could find so that I could try to restore its wood on the future. The three movers agreed that the piano should have been four people, and were shocked that whomever booked the job suggested only three people. In the end, my move was rushed, stressful, and long-- my studio apartment move's total was ~$1300. Now I'm saving to get my piano repaired. I'm grateful that the three movers did their best, however I feel like this move ended up being way more trouble and money due to the lack of communication on moving dates. read more

A late review. We moved two months ago from SoCal to NoCal. All the process was smooth from the quote to the delivery. Danielle's customer service was like a breeze of air when you are dealing with all the moving tasks. The price was fair and fixed. No surprises. Christian & E-Z arrived 8am sharp to pack and pick up all of our stuff with other three crew members and did everything in 3 hours. They packed so fast that I didn't have time to digest what was happening. Everyone was nice, friendly and experienced. 24 hours later they were calling me to let me know they were ready for drop off and did it with expertise and were able to accommodate all of our requests. AVOID! ..I'm not sure how they acquired all these reviews and a five star but the service I got was far from a five star. The one star goes out to the guys that unloaded the truck when it got to my destination ( who are only partners of the company and not the actual company) and to Sal our driver that brought our stuff and on time. I booked a long distant move from CA to WA. The initial move quote was done two weeks prior to my move. The gentleman that gave us a quote made it seem like our move would be so easy and stress free and told us that our stuff would be packed by professional movers. At that point I was so relieved. Two days after the initial walk through Julia called me with a quote that I agreed to. She also mentioned that they offer complementary packing so I wouldn't have to worry about packing my stuff. I told her that I would pack whatever I could first and if I don't finish on time then I would love to take advantage of their complementary packing. One week before our move, I texted Julia saying that I will go ahead and have them come pack my house. We made an apt for the day before our move. The appointment was set between 8-10am .Friday comes and it's about 9:45. I texted Julia confirming that they were still coming at 10. She said in a couple of hrs. I waited .. one two three four hrs and nothing .. this was our last day and I wanted to spend my time with family instead of just waiting for the packers. It was now around 6 pm. I called the manager and he told me that he never knew about the move and didn't even know what they were packing. He apologized since the office didn't communicate that with him and told me to wait while he finds two guys to come pack. 6:30 7 pm they showed up. Packed the kitchen and bathroom and left the rest for the movers to pack. They told my husband that they were going to charge us 4$ per box and at the end of the packing that we owed 125$ for paper. Saturday is move day. My husband and I were long gone. I asked my sister for a favor to be there with the movers. Again Julia assured me that I was the first truck to be loaded and that they would be there at 8. My sister was there at 7:45 to not be late. They arrived at 10:15. My sister ended up packing our wardrobe. Some items were packed very poorly. The Xbox was just thrown in one of the boxes so was my Cricut machine , which is not cheap. Sal our driver gets to WA on time. He was very friendly. They unload the boxes in about 2 and half hrs. At the end he collected the rest of the bill minus the deposit. I see the 125$ charge for paper. I refuse to pay it since I was never informed of it. I stayed on the line with Danielle for about 30 minutes trying to fight this charge. She then asked if I'd be willing to pay half. I refused so she kindly removed the charge. 7500$ and they were concerned about 125$. read more

Absolutely the worst moving experience 1. First off, the guys asked many times if they could push the start earlier. I finally agreed the morning of to a start between 11-noon. I got a call at 10am saying the movers were there and I had to drop what I was doing to go meet them at my apartment. 2. I spoke to the manager the morning of move in who suggested I change to 3 moving people even though I had a 2 bedroom unit where one of the bedrooms was empty (so only 1 bed, 1 dresser, etc) 3. Although there were 3 guys who I was paying for, 2 of them took long breaks sitting in the truck/smoking and on their phone while the other guy moved everything (and that guy had a hurt back) who said he was being "hazed" for being the new guy 4. The guys had no power tools (drill), and had to take apart our bed frame with a screw driver which took way longer than necessary. (Especially when I'm being charged hourly) Not only that, but they had 2 extra boxes (the email from the company said they would have 10) 5. They also had no tools to take my TV mounts off, or our curtain rod, which we discussed beforehand and said they'd be able to do that & so we will still have to pay a new company to do both those things at the first apartment 6. We had expensive indoor rugs that they moved without wrapping in anything, and then dropped on the pavement outside of the truck, and now the rugs have black marks on them. 7. In between apartments, I was waiting for them and called them and they informed me they were taking a 45 minute break to get drinks and that they wouldn't charge us for the time-- they did. 8. On move-in, one of the guys banged multiple objects into the walls, not only causing damage to the object, but chipping drywall which I will now have to pay for at my new apartment 9. I also just saw on my receipt they charged me $135/hr, even though it was told to me it would be $125/hr 10. They cracked our new tv, chipped our walls/furniture, dented our new floors, etc. It is unfortunate as I was recommended to your company, and yet there were multiple issues that will cause us to still move a lot of our apartment on our own (at one point, 2 of the guys were sitting in the truck, and multiple things were left in the apartment). I have posted the above before but the company said they would work with us if we took it down. We took it down, and they still haven't worked with us. We have given them many chances, but y'all need to know what you're getting into if you hire this company! Here is how they've handled our situation: We took down the Yelp review and said we'd repost it if they didn't work with us (hence this post) they said this situation is their first priority on Monday (2/8) and that they fired the 3 movers and that they would call us back... didn't hear anything from them. Called them Tuesday & they said they'd get back to us. We called them Monday-Thursday and finally on Thursday we get a call from the "boss" who had us explain for an hour what happened even though we've already explained this to someone and he finally agreed to refunding us for the horrible experience + a tv since they broke ours. Then, he called us back 30 min later bombarding us with one of the movers that was so called "fired" so that we could explain what they did wrong...?!?! (VERY unprofessional & also not our job.) & then once the mover got off the phone, the boss said "you could save all their jobs if you renegotiate"... you've got to be kidding me. You already told us they were fired, now you're for sure lying about that. And I don't think they're getting fired regardless if we take less money. We said no, it's your business whether you fire them or not we want what we agreed to 30 min ago. He said okay you got it, but can we pay you back in a payment plan.... we didn't pay you in a payment plan and we're not asking for much!!! But fine, we agreed to split the payment into 2. & then Friday morning, he calls my boyfriend multiple times while he is at work and tried renegotiating, and asking for a 5 week payment plan to pay us back/ and then says "actually, the owners say you guys are being unreasonable and wanna pay you less" .... your movers didn't finish the job, damaged our property, etc. Like I said, we have tried working with them and they are just being very unprofessional & now just wasting our time. Terrible experience. Was told I had to pay for truck and fuel, even though loading a pod. Workers showed up in their vehicle. Worker did not bring any packing materials, they used mine. One worker had a monitoring anklet, I was not advised ahead of time. Money was missing from vacation piggy bank after they left, conscience? Maybe? This company has communication issues between order taker and workers. The workers did an overall adequate job in loading a pod; but I would not use or recommend anyone use this service! Move went well and the guys were efficient and nice. However, what is taking away stars is when they surprise you on day of the your quoted rate is only for cash. My only reason for a "3" review is because my T.V mount was damaged BB (Best Buy) came to remount the T.V and it was damaged on one side. I personally watched the movers take my T.V off the mount and it was a bit of a struggle for the two. Between Bin and the other guy. And one of my work monitors screen was damaged/cracked. I hired these guys off Yelp. They have some coordination issues I think, but that's typical for successful small businesses. For instance, they confirmed my move date with me, but then I got 2 different calls about the movers being on their way 2 different days before my actual move date. I had to be very thorough with Robney and I confirmed with him about 4 times the actual move date and the size truck I needed. Even still, they showed up with the wrong size truck and have to go get the right one, delaying my move by an hour and a half. THAT BEING SAID... these guys WORK THEIR BOOTIES OFF! They work hard! They were courteous and respectful, as well as knowledgable about what they were doing. They protected everything VERY well. I was impressed! 10/10 could not have asked for a better moving experience. I have moved nine times in the past seven years just due to the crazy nature of my job. For this move I said enough was enough and decided to hire movers to help with all of my belongings. I reached out to several companies and Good Deeds was so quick about getting back to me. The woman I worked with in the office was so friendly and so kind and I really appreciated being told upfront and clearly how much this move is going to cost me. Day of the move everything went so smoothly I genuinely can't believe how stress-free these guys made my whole experience. They arrived on time worked efficiently and effectively. I also really appreciated how flexible they were (I had originally expressed that I did not need any of my furniture wrapped and then changed my mind when they got there LOL). Broke a lot of things, lied to us that they would cut their hours as a result (and because they were slow), and then harassed us afterward to demand payment for hours they already said they would cut. One of them parked outside my place and took videos of us to intimidate us. It was a nightmare. They scared my daughter. After having quite the experience, DAVE and SAUL made me not want to work with this company again. They proceeded to take a SUPER slow time after telling them the faster they work, the higher tip they'll get. After completely shattering a glass lamp shade, ripping the back of a famous painting, breaking the wheel off of a roller chair, dragging our mattress that became completely black, I am VERY disappointed. We sent pictures of everything we wanted moved. They came, did the job then charged us an extra $3000 more than what was quoted with no indication of a price hike until the end, which we had to pay in cash. The movers from the first group were good. Almost all from the second group were lazy and uncaring. I watched as one guy in particular dropped a box marked FRAGILE in bold, black letters. We have a lot of Princess House crystal, mostly vintage. Some of it now broken, a lot of it stacked improperly. Despite paying everything accurately and on time, Rodney was hounding the movers for our final payment before they even arrived at our house. After everything was unpacked, we noticed we had 2 couches missing and several items damaged, including an adjustable bed. We might also have several bags of clothes still missing. It took at least a month just to get the missing couches they tried to tell us they didn't have. And even then, we're still missing half an L couch. Cut to nearly a year later and they still haven't sent the rest of the couch, nor paid out the measly penance for the things they broke. They're also blocking/avoiding our calls. Oh, and when we spoke to the main mover, he said that Rodney wasn't going to pay them and had no plans to despite literally across the country with only 3 or 4 people. The movers are also made to work without a lunch. I've used these movers twice. Both instances, we were provided several examples of how they were the best. In the first move, I spoke to the owner of the company, who explained that he would send his best guys knowing that I'm extremely particular, and have some rather large OCD concerns. Sadly, the home I was moving out of was damaged, and so were a number of my items. They were willing to work with me after the move to ensure that it was made right and did so pretty quickly - cutting a check for damage that legitimately caused by their team. In my second move, I had a few additional items damaged, and it was a pretty short move, from 1 unit to another (same building). They put together my bed frame incorrectly but did offer to pay for a replacement and did so. They did everything to try and make it right. Another oddity, was that one of the guys was doing nothing for 2 hours. Then, in a completely strange occurrence, I discovered this moving company had 2 separate moves going on in the same building at the same time. At this high-rise building, you pre-reserve the freight elevator for moving, which I did. However, the movers for the other move in the building "stole" the freight elevator, and my movers couldn't move... even though I was paying them, on the clock. When I mentioned this to the Good Deeds mover for the other residents' move, he threw that person items out of the elevator violently and started cursing. It was beyond upsetting knowing this company was moving my things, and this is how their staff acted. I reached out to the management team several times recently about my prior past experience. They finally called me weeks later but at this point I'm just over trying so hard to give them a 3rd chance. The owner is very nice and so are most of the guys, but I opted to use another company this time whom provided great service. The 3 stars is for the efforts they did put forth, the missing 2 stars is for the absolutely horrible experience I had with the other movers and the damages caused to my belongings and home(s). I had scheduled them to come for my moving day and everything was set up. Never received confirmation or a follow up call. They told me they would call the night before but never did and I tried getting a hold of them but their voicemail box was full. A move is never fun. Throw in toddlers and during a pandemic...what was I thinking?? Anytime you're hiring for a service, whether it's cleaning, painting or moving, it's hit or miss depending on who is sent to finish the project. Rodney (the owner I believe) was very helpful with my multitude of questions as this was the first time we hired a moving company. The day before the move, Rodney called to confirm for the next day. Fast forward to the move date. Duane gave me a call about an hour before (very much appreciate the heads up!) arrival and sure enough, the team of Duane, Jose, and Johnathan arrived as scheduled. Duane was able to disconnect our washer and dryer and his team hauled it down 2 flights of stairs with narrow spaces and sharp corners to navigate around. The three of them worked hard and made sure to take great care with all of our belongings. I initially thought I wanted to stack my washer & dryer as I wasn't sure the laundry room space was big enough and Duane was nice to try side by side for me to take a look. Sure enough, the fit was perfect! I had purchased new connectors for the washer and dryer and Duane installed those as well. I was lucky to have some moments to chat with the 3 of them in passing and they were all down to earth from my perspective. If I ever need to move again (hopefully not, realistically!) I would absolutely go with Good Deeds Moving again and specifically ask for the team of Duane, Johnathan, and Jose! read more

Not to mention we had to transfer from a 2nd floor apartment to another apartment where there is no clearance for big trucks, but they were prepared with the right equipments and was able to transfer all of our stuff efficiently.
