Good Earth has had a long-time presence at the Galleria. The place always seemed to have a strong following, especially during patio season. The front case of cookies, pastries and teas still beckons you as you walk by, and might actually be the best part of the restaurant, so long as you are prepared to pay the "Galleria" prices. However, Good Earth's theme of sustainable, organic ingredients is honestly, no longer unique and the menu and decor does have a bit of a 90s feel to it now. I have eaten there a few times in the past, but decided is it high time to write my review as I don't think we will be going back. I do want to note that we were there during the uptick of the Delta Variant, and that many restaurants still haven't recovered in terms of staffing. So my husband and I decided to take a chance this past Saturday. The restaurant seemed to be properly staffed and our server was efficient, pleasant and friendly. At this point, one would hope Good Earth's emphasis would be on the creativity and quality of how the ingredients are put together in a dish. He ordered the Wok Seared Vegetables with added chicken, and I had the Mediterranean Greek Salad. Both arrived on BIG oversized plates. BOTH were sadly, completely underwhelming. The stir-fry lacked flavor, seemed to be coated in a dilute concoction of soy sauce and sweetener. It was desperately in need of some type of umami to tie it together: perhaps some garlic, ginger, onion? Maybe a dab of oyster sauce, sesame oil or even chopped scallion? No such luck. He ended up asking the waitress for some hot sauce to spice it up. She offered tabasco (Mexican) or cholula (also Mexican) for this Asian-themed dish. Finally, she offered chili pepper flakes which he accepted, but even that could not rescue the dish. My big skinny Greek Salad was 3 sheaves of romaine, cut up and spread out in a single layer over the plate, a cluster of 6 cut up grape tomatoes, 6 kalamata olives, 4 slices of cucumber, a 2-in. ball of hummus a 2-in ball of taboulleh, dusted with shredded feta and drizzled with oil and vinegar. The thick pita triangles (listed as toasted naan in the menu) were cold and dry on the tips. I would never think to put salt on a salad, but this one practically screamed at me to do so. I ate the whole thing (it was my dinner after all) and felt as though we could have done so much better just by going home and eating whatever was left over in our frig. read more

I saw "huevos" and, quite incorrectly it turns out, assumed that I was going to be receiving a plate of huevos rancheros-style fare. Instead, it was a breakfast burrito. Really disappointing Father's Day breakfast. We had reserved in advance and were seated right away...and then largely ignored. Other tables were seated, served and left before we were able to flag down our sever to ask where our food was. She gave some excuses that orders were taking 20-25 minutes to fill...though we had ordered 45 minutes earlier at that point. Server seemed to be making a lot of excuses (and throwing the kitchen under the bud) and likely forgot to put our order. We had to get all of the food to go at that point so that we wouldn't be late for our daughter's softball game, scarfing it down out for the to-go boxes. The food is unseasoned and the potatoes were so green that they were bitter. The server was snarky with is while we placed our order. Then he put our food down and never came back. We watched him be extra nice to the tables around us. I left him 20%, but I think he acted in a discriminatory fashion toward us. I told the helper @ the front, but she was strange too. She offered me a gift card, but I refused and told her that my preference is dignified and equal treatment. Between the food and the service @ this place, just go to COV. Good Earth has a lot of healthy options which can be nice when eating out. The restaurant is located within the Galleria and is easy to get to. They have a nice sized dining area with a pleasant atmosphere. I've been eating here on occasion since childhood and have always been content with the service. Staff have always been polite and helpful. I ordered a planet burger on my most recent visit. The bun was grainy and toasted. It had a distinct flavor that I REALLY enjoyed. The patty was made up of various beans, seeds, nuts and vegetables. It was a bit crumbly when biting into it but full of flavor! It's a great vegetarian option. This place is one of my favorite restaurants in this area. They have a variety of menu options along with seasonal items that are sure to please whoever you're dining with. read more

I was invited to join friends for breakfast at The Good Earth in Edina, having never been. Breakfast was $34 and change (not including tip). $34!! I noticed at bottom of bill that 5% was added to my meal as a "Safety/Benefits" charge. I asked what?...why? The hostess explained that it was for Covid safety measures taken by the restaurant, and for benefits paid to employees. These both sounded like business expenses, so why was I paying for them? "We have it posted here at the register, and it was on your menu," I was told. No other explanation was given. Please pass on my complaint, I said. Call corporate, I was told. Again, ME doing YOUR job. I went to every Web site I could find for Good Earth and parent company - found NOWHERE to send complaint to anyone. Will NOT be going back, or recommending anyone else to go there. read more

January of COVID lunch with my sister. Made a reservation right at opening at was promptly seated. Server was great, just attentive enough, and conscious of distancing. Masks everywhere on the staff. Felt very safe the entire time. Could tell the menu was reduced, though I had a couple of solid choices. I went with the coconut curry with tofu which was only okay. Sorta tasteless. Redeemed by a marmalade-like side that was very good. But weird that a curry came with a marmalade? I'm a Thai curry fellow, so maybe a style I am unfamiliar with. Amazing green juice. Had a very pleasant time. It was the first time my sister had eaten out since March so glad it was handled so well. I'd go back, though I'd never been to the Galleria before and holy privilege Batman. I felt uncomfortable and judged the whole time walking to and from the restaurant. I came here for a quick breakfast and was in a hurry, so I grabbed a smoothie instead of sitting down and eating a proper breakfast. So this review is solely on the smoothie, and not on the juice or breakfast offerings. There's a sit-down restaurant and the juice bar is outside, around the corner. I was in a hurry and coming post-workout, so I only really had time for a smoothie, and opted for a berry smoothie. This $6 smoothie had strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, ice, and apple juice and wasn't anything super special. I could make it at home myself (granted, I was traveling for work, so I wouldn't be able to just make this in my hotel room), but I expected something a little more special and tasty for $6. I felt like it was on-par with the berry smoothie they sell at Costco for $1.50. All in all, I wouldn't make a special trip to come back here. Perhaps if you're in the mood for a smoothie or something quick on-the-go, this is a decent option, but I was underwhelmed by the selection and also by what I got. read more

The Tea firstly the Herb and Spice house mix and Mango green tea, both absolutely amazing and fresh. You even have some choices in cold teas. Food - my wife had the "Just right for you" with Salmon, salad and fruit. The taste was great and the portion size perfect for a person with all the right ingredients. I had the Good Earth Turkey Meatloaf and it was just amazing. The meatloaf was great, the side broccoli n carrot salad thingy was great as well All in all a great place to get some great food and tea. We had a quick lunch and got the Manhatten clam chowder and the bison burger with a "salad". The soup and burger were good, the salad was just some lettuce and the dressing was mostly oil with a hint of lemon. The server did not come by very much and we waited quite awhile for the server to bring the bill. We would try them again and maybe choose something different. I am a loyal Good Earth customer. I have been going to the Good Earth since I was a toddler when my mom would take me after a day of shopping at the Galleria. I'm sure I have had more of the menu than I can remember but I now stick to the same thing every single time. I get the Stoneground vegetarian nachos. Yum. My mouth waters every time I see the server coming out of the kitchen with the plate of chips loaded with cheese, black beans, guacamole, chilis, chipotle sauce, sour cream and salsa. Absolutely delicious. But one of my favorite things about going to the Good Earth is the hummus and bread basket is a great start to the meal. This might be my favorite hummus in the entire world. It's consistent time after time. The atmosphere of the Good Earth has not changed since the early 2000's. It is quaint and clean. Everything is extremely healthy on the menu. They have a great selection of fresh squeezed juices and smoothies as well. Not in the mood for a sit down? They have a to-go cafe right outside the actual restaurant. Growing up, I would always get the frozen yogurt (so good) with my mom and we would continue our shopping. It has now become a tradition of ours every time I am back in the Twin Cities. The gathering was for a birthday of a friend!! We all ordered different items from the menu, I ordered the scramble and I ate half. I also had tea with honey and that was very good. I brought the other half home for my husband ate that portion!! It was delicious! I also grabbed some bakery items from the case , cookies to share with the family! All the times that I've visited Minneapolis, I have stopped at the Good Earth Restaurant and have not been disappointed. Never ever had to wait that long. Love their iced green tea mango! Delicious and refreshing. They even that various hot teas from the Nepal/Himalayas (delicious and impressive). The first time I came I had their Thai chicken wrap which was delicious (the sauce definitely makes this wrap scrumptious). The second time I had their vegetable bean soup and their veggie pizza. Very fresh and great taste! Love their bread they serve before the entree...yummy! Staff very friendly and the restaurant is always busy (a good thing). Restrooms are towards the back, only two for entire restaurant but always maintained and clean. Will see you soon! read more

Cashew Chicken Salad from the deli for the win! I've been eating in the restaurant on and off for many years and agree that it has gone from very good to fine. Oh well. If your friends suggest this, you'll be fine, but you can do better especially in the Southdale area. But the take out counter! You can get amazing sandwiches and pastries. A bag lunch will set you back $10, and seems like a great deal bc it is. There seem to be plenty of places to eat inside the Galleria, including right near Crate & Barrel, which is the reason everybody goes to the Galleria, right? read more

My team from work were headed to a conference and decided to start here for breakfast. We were seated at a table for 8 and I ordered a Diet Coke, which was refilled often, they even brought a carafe of it over for us. Score. The breakfast menu was expansive and I ordered the Turkey Sausage Egg Scramble. We had a lot of laughs while we waited, and about ten minutes later our food came. The pancakes looked fantastic and the quesadilla that people ordered looked wonderful. The skillet dish was large, but not overwhelming. The eggs were fluffy, the sausage was flavorful and the cut up potatoes and peppers just added to a great dish. I topped it with pepper and it was just amazing. This review is for their counter service only - no matter how few people are in line, the service at the counter is glacially slow. Expect to wait 10-15 minutes just to buy a cookie and heaven forbid someone ahead of you orders a smoothie. Now I certainly don't expect this to be McDonalds, but come on, it's not rocket science here. I bet they could double or triple their revenue from the counter if they could fix their super inefficient processes. It's not unusual to see people give up from the line, even when it's only 3 people long, in frustration at the level of service provided. read more

I brought a group of 16 senior citizens there during the flower show. An incredibly busy time. I called ahead and they had a large table set up for us. The service was great even though it was noisy and crowded. I can't believe that we were able to secure a place to have lunch with such a big group on such short notice! Whenever I make a trip to Galleria for good, I usually default to People's Organic, but today for lunch I decided on Good Earth with my mom. And I'm not mad about it! A lot of good stuff in this menu that made for some hard decisions. They also had a specials menu that had some really good items too. We ended up getting one of the specials which consisted of a cup of Wild Rice Soup, Cod (this was cooked perfectly. The outside was so crisp and the inside was nice and juicy) and it came with some black rice and black beans. The last thing it came with was your choice of a Gingerbread Cake or fruit. Those portions were pretty small (they mention that in the menu for this special) so we decided to split the nachos too. AMAZING!! We went with the vegetarian style (but I'm positive it'd be even greater with meat loaded on top). This portion was so large. My mom & I couldn't finish it so we got a to go box. But it was so great. Not too greasy and the perfect amount of toppings. P.s.- the basket of bread they give you to start has a really nice selection of carbs. The crisp pieces were my favorite! read more
