We've been searching for a great Chinese restaurant in the Cheyenne area for two years. FINALLY, we found it at Good Friends on the edge of downtown. Nothing fancy, but don't let the plain exterior or simplistic interior deter you. These folks at Good Friends really know authentic Chinese cuisine, giving you TERRIFIC food with excellent taste, in large portions, at a very reasonable price. It's a family-run restaurant that knows how to serve you with a smile and deliver outstanding food to your table in a timely manner. I was so happy to find a place with BOMB Chinese food in the area. Currently visiting and I had a wicked craving for some kung pao and crab Rangoons. Good friends did not disappoint! The serving sizes are pretty large which was so nice, I had dinner for the next night too! The crab Rangoons were also 10/10, they had a perfect ratio of cream cheese to crab ratio! Don't waste your time- You will leave feeling robbed and hungry! We were just passing through and placed a takeout order (two entrées, egg rolls, and wantons). The total came to $64.42, which was honestly shocking for what we received. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it--both entrées were mostly vegetables with very little meat and one of them wasn't even what we ordered and disgusting. We ended up throwing it away and leaving hungry. What's most frustrating is that their online menu lists noticeably lower prices than what we were actually charged. I'm not someone who usually leaves negative reviews, but this experience felt misleading and disappointing. I honestly feel scammed! WOW! I just called Good Friends to place a delivery order. The woman who answered the phone was 'abrupt' and misunderstood my address twice. I then tried to ask about their fried rice, since their menu lists 14 options. I wanted a spicy version and wanted it well-cooked. The woman reacted with annoyed surprise, exclaiming, "We only have regular fried rice!." So much for customer service, especially at $14 per serving. I have gone to Good Friends off and on for several years and always thought it was good, nice service. Today I stopped for a late lunch and ordered Black Bean Chicken. The meat in the dish was mushy, as if it had been pre cooked, soft. That was not freshly sautéed chicken from today, I don't think. I let the owner know I didn't like my meal today and the meat was mushy (she didn't ask me how my meal was, even though I was leaving a full meal 10 minutes after receiving it) and she didn't care, just said that's how we make it. After an exhaustive search for a good Chinese Restaurant for a Monday night, we settled for a take out dinner here. It was our last resort, so we decided to give it a try. The food items were typical ordinary Chinese fare, and nothing extra special . The food was disappointing to say the least. It did not appear, nor taste fresh, and quite lackluster. The egg drop soup was dismal. I've never seen grey colored egg drop soup. It appeared to be dish water. This is not a place I would return to. Perhaps the sit down meal may have been better . We ordered from Good Friends because of the good Yelp reviews. We got sweet and sour pork and sweet and sour shrimp, with pork fried rice. We were not disappointed; they were both delicious. They both held up well with the sauce and were still crispy. Even the next day, when we rolled into Iowa, nothing was soggy and still so good. The pork fried rice had huge chunks of pork, with were very tender. We come here at least once each time we're in Cheyenne. The food is always well-prepared, and you can tell that most of it is made in-house and not poured out of a box or bottle. My Wife and I started to eat at Good Friends this year, and finally got to go have a sit down tonight, the Service was Great and the Food of Course was excellent. I know that this is American Chinese food, but this is one of the best place that we have eaten this type of food in a long time. They have the right amount of spices added and sauce as well (not to saucy). We came from Colorado were there are a lot of restaurant to chose from, I'm glad our neighbors turned us on to this one. Much better that the one we use to go in Colorado. Michelle was a gracious host and actually took the time to talk to us, they were starting to get really busy. The wife and I were on a leg of a long road trip from Fresno California to Bristol Tennessee and back home. My point is, we stopped at a lot of restaurants along the way and GFCR is the one we talk about being the best Food and the best price. The Service was fast and courteous.
