The food was pretty okay. It lacked a depth of flavor. I had the sweet potato burger, kale salad, and brown rice with a Golden Latte. The burger barely had any sauce on it and the patty was too crisp. It tasted like grilled cheese placed directly on the grill. I asked for more sauce which helped. The kale salad was pretty good. Really loved the dressing. The brown rice was just brown rice. No seasoning. The golden latte made with oat milk was delicious. My friends and I shared the Dip Trio which came with guac, salsa, and queso. The queso tasted like soy and was way too greasy. The oil separated. The flavor was flat with no depth. The guac needed lime and salt. The salsa also needed lime, salt, and cilantro. Maybe some jalapeño for a kick. My friends had the pesto pasta, Mac and cheese, and the Buffalo cauliflower quesadilla. They didn't enjoy them. The Buffalo quesadilla actually had too much cheese on it. Surprising with it being a quesadilla. It was just not the right texture of cheese you'd want with a quesadilla. Two of us ate lunch here. Management does not know how to run a restaurant. I've worked in food and beverage, and the two servers were not experienced. Waited too long to put in an order. Server had difficulty entering the order into the handheld. Ordered vegetable noodle soup (as was described to us) w/ grilled cheese and side salad; and tacos w/ French fries; and two glasses of wine. Here are the results: A bowl of chili was served instead of the purported vegetable noodle. It took 10 minutes to get the corrected soup ("It's being heated" - WTF?!). The vegetable noodle soup turned out to be a bowl of elbow macaroni surrounded by a broth. Broth was good - didn't want a serving of macaroni. Tacos were tasty but the tortillas had been pulled directly out of the fridge, so I'm eating a refrigerator cold bread blanket. The fries were tasty but soggy, and the only reason for that is because the fry oil was not hot enough. Wine was very late because "She had to find the serving glasses." First time I heard that one - IN A RESTAURANT. Side salad never came, and we honestly didn't give a damn at that point. No comps, BTW. $50 for strange food and poor service. This cafe is an amazing eatery in Columbia- for the area, it's 5 stars, but I am going to give it 4.5 stars and 4 for the review, just because when I think 5 stars for a veg*n eatery it's got to be extraordinary- have some housemate ice cream or haute cuisine. The menu is clearly marked for allergens like CN for contains nuts and CS for contains soy. If you avoid gluten, you'll do well here, too. This place has so many delicious choices from salads to wraps to nachos to bowls- something for everyone. They also have alcohol and liquor for those who want to jazz up a meal. They have outdoor seating, too, and a bar, so you can have your choice of seating. Nachos and taco salad, raw lasagna and manicotti (so much delicious nut-based filling- it could make two meals!) nori rolls (pimento-less 'cheese'!) and portobello caps- I am drooling remembering how good the food is here. They have raw sides that accompany many entrees, like kale salad or fresh fruit. The eggplant bacon wrap is extremely popular, but I couldn't try it because it was all gone when I got there! No matter, I was happy to try other items. I loved the zucchini raw pad thai- maybe my favorite zucchini noodles ever. Simple ideas like salad and wraps are just tastier here! Their desserts are vegan and many are gluten free- like cupcakes, cookies and cheezecake. Hit this place up when we first moved here (prepandemic). I liked it alright but the prices were a little higher than I would have liked and if I remember correctly the hours were strange so I was only able to try once. Since restrictions have loosened up my partner and I passed by during Soda City one Saturday and sure enough they were open with brunch!!! Great flavors but poor service.. dined here twice and the first time I came, my friend and I walked in and waiting to be seated. We were overlooked and not welcomed by staff after standing for about 10 mins before one server finally asked if we were helped. We asked to dine outside and was offered a dirty table then we chose a table that was clean. It took a good while to get water refills but my friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere of downtown cola. Food was good but waited even longer to pay for the meal so we could leave because staff seems to just forget about their customers. I came here once more because I mean it's the south and finding good vegan food is like a needle in a haystack down here in BBQ heaven. We were seated a little quicker this time but again offered a dirty table. I don't know who made my tacos on July 15th 2021 between 1:45-2:00, but they must been hella sad/mad or having a bad day. I came and got the tacos from all these raving reviews. I've been craving an Açaí bowl for literally weeks and it was finally fulfilled yesterday. To start I ordered the macchiato. I was surprised it was served in such a small cup, but it sure did fill me with caffeine. Really packed a punch! The bowl was flavorful and well made, personally I had wished I'd gotten one with fruit besides banana. It lists banana but then at the bottom says served with fresh fruits so I assumed that there would be other kinds of fruits too. But that's okay, it was yummy! So I love Good Life Cafe. I have tried several different items on the menu that were surprisingly good. Today I had the Sushi and the Kale Salad. This dish tasted really good and fresh. The sushi was very flavorful with a savory flavor and their famous Kale Salad was on point with the right amount of their house tahini ginger dressing. It was not so crowded and the food came out in good timing. I must say I am so happy they have changed their Compost Straw to one that is more durable. Wow what a treasure in Columbus South Carolina. We enjoyed delicious smoothie with mango banana and spinach topped with fresh pineapple chunks and granola crunch it was frozen and delicious so refreshing and felt cleansing. We also had a walnut meat taco beautifully spice to cilantro and cashew sour cream do you amazing mixture of French and spice. It put this with two side dishes some pinto beans and also some kind of squash vegetable ratatouille stirfry which was good. Smoothie and taco the show stealer. The servers were good and made sure that we were served really quickly as we had to get on our way much appreciated at a really nice vibe it's really played spacious with high ceilings it's a different table options we preferred to sit at the window and gaze at the passing parade in Main Street Friday night. This place has a great atmosphere for starters. It's downtown and you have the choice of eating either indoors or out, we chose out. When it comes to options, you have plenty which isn't exactly typical from my experience with vegan establishments. But here you literally have pages of them. The good: Just about everything. The Buffalo Bites were delicious (and taste even better as leftovers the next day!!), service was prompt, our server Bella was delightful and gorgeous, the food LOOKS great, and tastes fresh. The bad: I ordered the Eggplant Bacon wrap. I love me some eggplant and who doesn't like "bacon"??? I found it disgusting as hell personally, tasted like straight raw spinach and idk bout y'all but I HATE the taste of raw spinach. Typically it's not an issue in dishes because the other ingredients tend to mask or at the very least complement its taste but the wrap tasted like nothing but it. I even picked the leaves out and still that horrible spinach taste persisted. Also when unwrapping my wrap to pick the spinach out, all that was left were two sad lil strips of "bacon" it was devoid of nearly all the other ingredients listed on the menu. Needless to say I left the wrap for the flies and enjoyed my rice and beans (which were delicious.) All in all: I'd come back here again and really want to try the desserts, they looked delicious. I don't typically eat vegan, but the food here was surprisingly flavorful and satisfying. There is outdoor seating, so you can enjoy some fresh air and time with your dog if the weather is good. Our biggest complaint would be that we came on a Saturday around 1:30pm and it was explained that you could order from the brunch menu until 2:00. It wasn't really clear, but that meant you could not yet order lunch. I really wasn't interested in the brunch options. Luckily you could still choose from the raw/live part of the menu or get a salad. I ordered the noodles with pad thai sauce from the live menu. The sauce was delicious and gingery, but I was a little disappointed that there were no nuts thrown into the mix for a little extra protein and crunch. The kale salad it came with was also delicious and I was very impressed with the dressing. The Asian noodle salad was tangy and had a good variety of toppings. The only disappointment were the fries, which were small and lacked flavor. But overall, the quality of the food was high. Good Life is definitely a great place to go if you have any dietary restrictions, but I think it is a place that just about anyone could enjoy. read more

This downtown restaurant was in an old building decorated a bit funky. We arrived at 1 o'clock on Sunday when they were still having the brunch menu. There were a few luncheon items so we chose a sweet potato burger and fries and mango spring rolls. Everything was tasty, healthful and , attractively served. I think my french fries could've been fried a bit longer as they were a bit soggy but they were fresh and not frozen first. We saw the buffalo cauliflower being served at the table next to us andthey looked delicious. Next time. Also, there were many smoothies on the menu that looked tasty. I was in Columbia for a few days and needed a refreshing and healthy lunch. I've never been to a vegan cafe before, so I was a pretty wary. Really, could so many vegetables taste this good, or were a lot of vegans just used to subpar meals? Per usual, Yelp steered me in the right direction. The first time, I had the tacos. AMAZING. I wish I could eat these every day of my life. I barely noticed the taco shell was made of flax and the toppings were ground walnut meat, cashew sour cream, and cashew cheese. And I am someone who cannot live without cheese. The side kale salad was so fresh and delightful - I'm dying to make this at home for lunch. I would actually want to eat a salad every day. Next visit I had the eggplant "bacon" wrap with the kale salad (of course). I also tried the brussel sprouts. I wasn't a big fan - it was mushrooms and brussel sprouts and also spicy, so not really to my taste. However, I loved the wrap. And let me say, I'm not a big fan of eggplant and decided to be adventurous today. I still loved it! Although, nothing can beat the tacos. The service is also wonderful - the waittresses both times were kind and attentive. It was slow the second time I visited and I had some work to do; they let me enjoy my wrap in peace. My husband and went here to pick up food at this restaurant yesterday on our anniversary. We'd been hour at the zoo and needed to eat. We don't live in the area and this was our first time visiting here. We were greeted when we walked in the door but after we told them we were placing an order to go, after we asked for a menu the server literally stood right over us while we viewed the menu. It was extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary. Even the hostess (I guess that's what she was) standing at the podium right beside the sever stood there watching us view the menu. I know we all had on masks due to Covid 19 but I personally don't like anyone in my space that close. Although the food was good I would not go there again because how I'm treated when I go into a restaurant is just as important as how the food taste. Maybe it's a training issue. I'm not sure. I know that it made me extremely uncomfortable and I hope others that come in to place orders to go that this doesn't happen to them. I went to Good Life Cafe while in downtown Columbia on a business trip. The interior is nothing fancy, and to be honest, not impressive. The floors were sticky , too. If your order is to go, you just go to the centrally located front desk and they'll take care of the order for you. I had a brief wait for my salad (Good Life Salad). It was very good, and the lettuce and components were fresh. There are a number of "to go" items in a refrigerated display case, too. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is not a place I'd necessarily go to sit down and eat at, though. While the pedestrian traffic would make for interesting scenery, the currently run-down condition of the interior would counteract that. read more

I came across this restaurant on the Find Me Gluten free app. I always feel with my gluten free diet that I'll have to eat like a rabbit, but I loved the variety of options on the menu. I don't remembered what I ordered, but it was tasty, filling, and gluten free. The smoothie was refreshing and customizable. Vegan love here! We had one of the best breakfasts we had in a long time. Everything here is vegan but doesn't taste bad at all or is expensive! The server was so nice and explained the menu well, it didn't take us long to decide, My bride had the pancakes and fruit and I had the biscuits and gravy. I'm still a southern boy no matter what I eat! The food smelled amazing and was hot! My wife raved about her pancakes! I was going to taste but she didn't share! My biscuits and gravy tasted like there was sausage in them! The biscuits were a giant size and they gave me two! I had ice tea, really good not bitter and my bride had the coffee, She also like the creamer they used, coconut. Wow, the menu here is fantastic! I couldn't believe the options. Plus the daily specials were all pretty amazing. I loved the food so much that I ended up ordering another entree to go for Lunch the next day. Most vegan restaurants tend to be on the bland side of flavoring and spice. Every dish I tried was exceptionally well balanced. I ordered the daily burger (a butternut squash and roasted veggie blend) with the garlic roasted potatoes. I also had a Dirty Chia cupcake for dessert! My only complaint might have been the amount of black pepper on the potatoes. I liked it, but I could see how it might be a bit much for others. Normally when you tell them you want a cold pressed juice they grab it for you. She told us we can grab it ourselves. I was confused because I wasn't doing a grab and go. We were siting to dine in. We had harmony bowl, it was beans topped with kale salad. Mushroom nori was seaweed wrapped veggies and mushroom, yummy. We also had unicorn latte and golden latte.
