Had an amazing time here catching up with a good friend after enjoying the Thursday night wine tasting next door. Loved the décor and ambiance. Very clean and minimal without being boring. They played good music all night, lots of oldies, funk and soul, which is right up my alley. I hesitated to post this review because I liked this spot so much and don't want it to get overcrowded but in good conscience I must support. First the doorman started our whole experience on the right foot because he was so welcoming and friendly it felt like we were visiting a friends place. We walked in to a beautiful moody bar that was cool but not at all stuffy. The host and bartenders were awesome. The drinks were cute and tasty. There wasn't really any food but the spot right next door (I think it may be the same property/owner) had a pop up and we were able to order from there and eat at the bar. Super good vibes. I had my birthday here on a Saturday back in February. I didn't reserve a space because my friends were going to come and go throughout the night. The staff was very accommodating, and would let us know when other patrons were closing out their tabs so we could try to sit near each other. (Shout out to Matt!) It can get busy so show up early if you can. I've been a few more times since then, and all the cocktails I've tried have been great! You can tell they put a lot of thought into their recipes. Good Neighbor Bar is a fancy bar with a nice vibe. The drinks are pricey; start at $12 and go up from there. We went to the converted parking lot which serves different kinds of food on different nights. The outdoor atmosphere is family-friendly with large picnic tables and some smaller tables which are sawed off tree trunks. Rustic but relaxed, fun atmosphere. On Saturday night they were serving grilled smash burgers and fries. They hand make them. Both were excellent. And my boyfriend and I also got a draft beer from the outdoor service window. Good food and drink on a fun platform. I always want to see Altadena places beginning to thrive again. On Tuesdays it's taco night; Thursdays it's pizza and Friday oysters and seafood. The service at this bar is impeccable. I came on a Tuesday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday and happy to find that they were open! The bouncer warned us that the parking next to the building was at risk of getting towed (very helpful, since it was dark we didn't see the signage) and recommended the plentiful street parking options. The inside was very beautifully decorated, reminds me of art deco. The bartenders gave us wonderful recommendations on the drinks, even coming to our table to follow-up with us on the drinks. I loved both the non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails. There's a great selection for different palates. Definitely recommend coming here for great drinks and a nice hangout with friends. read more

Went for the first time last night. Servers were attentive and friendly. Love the vibe, low key, loungey. Drinks were good and strong (at least the two different tiki ones I had). This little gem was such a chill find. A friend recommended we meet for drinks after work last Friday night and we had the best time. The inside is so chic and relaxed. Absolutely a terrible place to go to if you're trying to watch a sporting event (like the World Series). They advertised they would be showing the game and the patio is open and kids are welcome. - 2 small TVs, no audio. Had to squint from the back to watch. - patio is NOT open to kids. Do not be fooled by their website. They have 3 tables, THREE, outside the patio that allow kids. No drinks are allowed there. Many people showed up and left when they realized kids could not sit down at all. - service was sparse All in all, seems like a cool place if you want to go for a drink or do anything else, but never go for a crowded even. For a bar attached to a wine shop, the wine selection is, frankly, appalling. Nice ambiance and apparently the cocktails are nice, but, as a person who does not drink hard liquor, it's a bust for me. And the patio? Honestly, I don't go to any bar wanting to see kids. And losing a lot of parking seems to me counter intuitive. read more

I will be honest and say that I've never actually been inside of the bar however we have been on their new all ages patio since it opened last month and it is simply the best! The drinks are great, especially the spicy pineapple margarita and we love that our toddler can run around in a safe and friendly place at the same time. Servers are very friendly and attentive. Great vibes in this place. The drinks were excellent. The music was a little loud, but it may have been where my group was sitting (right near the entrance door). There was a speaker nearby so maybe if we had moved it wouldn't have been so loud. Our server, Nathan, was attentive and personable. We always felt he was on top of everything when we needed it. Lovely new bar in Altadena, CA. Plenty of parking on the lot next to the wine store, or by the taco place in the late evening. They don't have food service yet, however they will sometimes have snacks like popcorn available for patrons, and also a food vendor outside of it. AMBIANCE - 10/10. Really unassuming from the outside but the inside is really sophisticated. It is dimly lit, and feels very cozy/ intimate. They made sure to use local artists to add details and texture to an otherwise unremarkable wall (the artist used parts of furniture he picked up in Altadena / Pasadena to create a cool pattern) and to create unique art pieces in the bar counters (made of sticks and artist picked up). SERVICE - really nice and knowledgeable bar staff. You can tell they're experienced and they know their craft. You can sometimes catch some of the owners working behind the counter and making sure you're having the best time. DRINKS - moderately priced for an LA bar (don't expect drinks cheaper than $13 unless it's a beer). They're not cheap with their alcohol, and their menu showcases a variety of different styles and flavors. There is sure to be a drink for each person. We have been going to this bar since February or March of this year to support a local business after the fires, it is a nice place with a very friendly staff, their cocktails taste very good but I think that they use cheap alcohol to make them because we always get a head ache the day after even after one drink, at 16 to 20 dollars a drink in an area of town that is not prime they could least use good or premium products if they want people to come back. read more

No TVs (THANK GOD), the music was slightly loud but not too bad. We live in the neighborhood and were really excited to patronize a new, nice bar, but we were badly disappointed. We arrived at 5:05 and sat at the bar, the third and fourth people in the joint, and at 5:30 were still waiting for a drink. The bartender yammered some bullshot about fulfilling orders in the order they were received, as ours languished in a pile. We walked. I'll give them another try in a few weeks, by which time the current amateurs will have improved, I hope, or have been replaced with pros. So, so disappointing. So many good things! Would only lower the music a bit (or create places to escape it) and add real candles (not fluorescent LED table lights).
