This cheftestant burger place is in a crowded field of gourmet fast casual burger places with five guys, shake shack and others. The burger was okay with the best part not being the burger which was too well done for my taste. Maybe they were following the current presidents like of well done meat. The roq cheese and onions on my prez Obama were good and I liked the minimalist bun as many places I scoop out tennis bAll size of bread from the bun. I tried the salted caramel moo size. It is much thicker than normal shake and the thick caramel sauce made it no easier to get through the straw. I should have grabbed a spoon or they need to provide either wider or thicker straws. Taste was okay and would have preferred the caramel more mixed in instead of just coating the sides. Place is nice as plenty of seating upstairs. read more

First time here. I got the burger with fried onions and BBQ sauce with a side of fries seasoned with thyme and rosemary. Everything was absolutely delicious. The burger was a decent size. It was flavorful and juicy. They give you so much fries. 1 bag has at least 2/3 servings. No clue how they squeezed that much fries in such a small bag. A little downside is that the place is kinda small. They don't have a lot of seatings and the place seem to always be busy, but service is fast. Definitely will be back. read more

I am from the DMV, but this was my first time trying out this burger shop. I got the Obama Burger with Spike's Village Fries and Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake. Wow wow wow. It was the best combination of food. The Burger is on the sweeter side with the grilled onions combined with the fries...it is really filling. It is definitely comparable to the 5 guys burger that I generally get, just not as greasy for sure. I would 100% come back if I am in Georgetown again anytime soon! read more

I tried Good Stuff Eatery's Obama burger and seasoned fries for dinner. First of all, those fries might be the best seasoned fries I've ever had. I LOVED them!! I also enjoyed the plethora of sauces to dip them in. I probably had way too many fries because I kept wanting to sample all the sauces. The Obama burger - good, not great! The bun was a little soggy and I didn't taste that much bacon in there. It tasted to me like a normal cheeseburger. The burger meat itself was done to my liking and I would definitely try another one with different toppings. UPDATE: So...where do I start? I have to note that I was giving Good Stuff another try after an unpleasant experience trying to place a phone order. The owner reached out to me personally to apologize and invite me back in, and I can't ignore customer service like that. I feel like he genuinely wanted me to come back and have a better experience. Today I placed a phone order as well, and the man who answered the phone was courteous and patient in helping me figure out what I wanted. He explained the shake sizes to me, too--I've never had the milkshakes before today but had looked on enviously as my coworkers enjoyed them. When I went in to pick up my order, the man behind the counter greeted me warmly, smiled as he processed my payment, and actually personally brought my food over to me once it was done. Since everything was going so well, I decided to stay and dine in; I had meant to just take my food and go. But he grabbed me a tray when I changed my mind, and then I walked upstairs to eat. I actually hadn't known (after being here several times) that there was dining upstairs. The upper area kind of reminded me of a 50's diner--but in a good way. Red accents, etc. I liked that there was plenty of seating and even some tables by the window where you could look down onto M Street. My burger was ... amazing. Had the Shroom Burger with everything except onions, because I don't eat meat. It was dressed and looked like a proper burger, and as someone who used to looooove cheeseburgers, I was pretty happy to have something so similar to the real thing. My chocolate milkshake was amazing. So thick I could barely sip it with the straw, which to me, is how a milkshake should be. I hate ordering a milkshake and getting something that's basically flavored milk. It was ice-cold and creamy and I was surprised it took me this long to try one. Here on vacation, heard of this place from a friend. In D.C. a lot of restaurants require reservations but not this one. Burgers are amazing and cheap. Stellar burgers! Seriously! It's so rare that you bite into a patty that's well seasoned and this was my lucky day. I had the Farmhouse Bacon and Cheese with lettuce and I'd recommend it to any other bacon lover. The bacon was the perfect middle between crispy and chewy. The menu features a host of specialty burgers and includes options for anyone in your crew that that's not down with the cow. Highlight: Old Bay sauce for your fries! There are a number of other tasty aiolis, like chipotle, sriracha, and mango, but the Old Bay was my favorite. They've also got a variety of milkshakes, and beer is served if you're so inclined. Have I just managed to hit an absurd number of Burger + Shake places in Georgetown and Foggy Bottom, or are there just an absurdly high number of them? Who knows. After a day packed with visiting the US Botanic Gardens and the Zoo, my friend and I were starving for a filling dinner. We also wanted to see the Georgetown Glow exhibits so this was the right location for dinner. The Eatery is also close-ish to my work so I figured I might as well try it out. I ordered the Farmhouse Bacon Cheeseburger ($7.25), and the regular Black Forest Milkshake ($5.95). The prices had increased slightly ($.35 on the burger) since I had bookmarked it on Yelp so I would guess the popularity is increasing. We snagged a table, but space is limited so be prepared. The burger was good, although the bacon was overcooked. I ate it very quickly, and I enjoyed the mix of flavors, including their house sauce. I really enjoyed the Black Forest Shake, which was the perfect size for my friend and I to split. It is a fake cherry flavoring with chocolate ice cream, but it really hit the spot. There are lots of unique milkshake and float flavors to choose from, and the shakes are nice and thick. I do wish they had asked about whipped cream, as I do not eat it, but my friend did so it worked out. I think this is a 3.5 star experience, but I am also inclined to come back so I will round high today. It is very similar to Burger Tap and Shake, which is closer to the Metro and cooks your burger to order. However, the shakes here were much better and less expensive. Both fall short of Shake Shack. The Space/Service: Good Stuff Eatery opens pretty late, which makes it a great spot after a day of exploring Georgetown. I've been here multiple times and its typically pretty quiet in the evenings. The cashiers are nice and they are really accommodating with zero fuss when it comes to complicated orders (we had a vegetarian and gluten free person with us). This location is two tiers, you order downstairs and sit upstairs. The only complaint I have is that upstairs is always extremely warm. I get that heat rises, but its a bit uncomfortable when you start sweating from the heat. However, there is a lot of seating here. It can easily sit 6+ people! The Food: If you have never been to Good Stuff Eatery, then I would compare it to the quality of Shake Shack but with a lot more options! I actually prefer their burgers over Shake Shack, because they anything from turkey burgers to fried chicken. My favorite thing about Good Stuff Eatery is their many dipping sauces! They also have many flavors of milkshakes as well. It is the perfect place if you want a solid, burger, fry, and shake combo! read more

Some very adventurous burgers and milkshakes for people that are adventurous in their culinary lives, but also normal options for people who just wanted a burger and fries (like me). I went with a normal burger and fries, and mini shake. I'll start with dessert- the shake was very good, but pretty large. For a mini, you definitely get a large volume of shake. The burger was well cooked and the veggies were fresh. The fries were cooked well and not too greasy. They have a variety of interesting sauce options as well, most seemingly with a mayo base. I would say this place is on par with five guys and all about burger. For me, five guys *greater than* good stuff *greater than* all about. To each their own, so do with this information as you wish. Good Stuff is my go to for shakes while I'm shopping in Georgetown. Their shakes are amazinggggggggggggg! Each month they feature a monthly shake. I usually get the toasted marshmallow shake and it's always good! As far as the food goes I haven't had a burger here or fries. These are the best burgers my my mouth has EVER tasted. The sauce was like the nectar of the gods. The shakes,let me tell you about the shakes. They were like the the milk from Auðumbla. The fries were pretty good. But the sauce choices were an infinite universe of flavor. The salt shakers were so refined my savage eyes could not behold their glory. I stopped in during a trip to Georgetown. They were pretty busy. So, I took it as a sign the food would be worth it. Sadly, it wasn't. The fries were nice. The burger was disappointing. I ordered the Michelle Melt and the patty was so salty I couldn't take more than two bites. I let my teenager to try a bite and he had the same gripe. It tasted like they poured a whole tub of salt into the patty meat. I'm not sure if this is the norm or a one-off, but I didn't want to waste my time going back. It took long enough to get my food, and it ended up not being worth the wait. So, I didn't want to wait AGAIN - especially if this is their norm. Good Stuff Eatery is my favorite hamburger in DMV area. A thing I would call "a hamburger" is different from "a beef patty with 2 slices of bread". They are called hamburgers because the sauce and all other ingredients inside successfully combine and increase the flavor. In Good Stuff Eatery, they have this kind of hamburgers - the flavor is so rich that you feels like everything is melting in your mouth. I would recommend people to try their farmhouse bacon cheese burger in the first time. It's just satisfying. Prez. Obama burger is also my favorite. Other then burgers, their fries (with the sauce bar) and milkshake are also rich with flavor. In general I like this place, I'm unsure why it seems to get overlooked but it's a solid burger and shake. I feel the fact that Good Stuff gets overlooked because it is an Older chain. I'll take old and tasty any day! Also one very nice thing is they have an array of dipping Sauces, which adds the flavor of anything you have. Urges and shakes are SOLID, fries... We wanted something good and something we didn't have to wait long to get (we originally came to the area for vegan cupcakes...then sensibility kicked in). Two sunny side burgers, one large fry and two sodas later, I sat and wondered what all the fuss was about. The burgers were good, but not the best I've had (I'm from a land where cooks put pastrami on burgers and fries and ask if you want to to it off with chili). So it's reasonable for me to give them 4 stars instead of 5. Here are the reasons for their 4 star advantage: 1. I could see them making those burgers that come from grass fed cows. You order your food fast food style at the counter, you get a food pager while you wait, scope out a table upstairs, get a few of their fancy in house sauces for dipping, the wait is practically over, pick up your food, then CHOMP! Hehe. Quite simple really. The burger and fries come in a paper bag and they are wrapped hastily, but the flavor profile and the juicy meat explosion make up for the less than pretty presentation. YUM, YUM, YUM. The burgers are delicious and literally melt in your mouth with every bite. Super juicy and moist. There are several different types of mayonnaise including: Old Bay, Chipotle, and Mango. Cool. It's a casual place and upstairs on the second level there are flat screen TVs (great for watching sports). The staff was friendly and our food came out promptly. Overall, great experience! I will start by saying that this place is all hype. I was super excited to try this place after passing it by every time I'm in Georgetown. But...sadly, it did not do too much for me. 3 stars for excellent service because the guy at the counter had a lot of patience for our family of 5 who did not know what to get but not giving full 5 because of the food part. My family and I waited only about 10 minutes to order our food, which was surprising since it was 1 pm on a Friday. But who's complaining? Just glad it wasn't any longer like a lot of other people are saying about the wait. Ordering is simple, just go through the line, order with the cashier and they will buzz you with the buzzer (beeper?) when your food is ready. When you wait, you can check out some of their sauces located next to the soda machine. My favorite was the chipotle and the mango sauce. Great dip for your fries! Colletti's smokehouse was the burger I decided to order - bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce. Simple and what's better than bacon and onion rings? I took a bite and thought eh, what's the big deal? It tasted like something from Red Robin. The patty wasn't juicy, it was quite small like a cheeseburger from Mickey D's and it really wasn't that good. My uncle got the Blazin' Barn and he said they could have put more vegetables. It's a burger with daikon and carrots with thai basil and spicy mayo. It didn't wow him either. The only thing I really enjoyed was the village fries with thyme, rosemary and sea salt. I could have ate those dang fries all day long. It was a bit on the greasy side but what's some fries without grease. I wish they would also put a soda machine upstairs so lazy people like me would not have to walk up and down the stairs to gets more to drink. Kind of annoying. I know it's probably because they don't want people who get water cups to not get soda but still. High expectations, huge let down. Maybe it was a bad day? Who knows. I ordered a farmhouse cheeseburger and loved the toasted bun and fresh toppings of lettuce, tomatoe, onions, and pickles. The burger here is delicious. I also very much like the Sriracha mayonnaise that you can get with the fries. My "beef" with this place is that I ordered a thin vanilla shake and a few minutes later literally watched the lady have to hit the metal canister violently onto a surface in order to dump an extremely thick shake into the paper cup. It turned out she was making my shake. This place uses biodegradable straws which are incredibly flimsy. That's fine, but versus a thick shake they complete implode. So the shake was undrinkable. I never do this but said I needed them to make another shake which was thin. I then watched the woman run the metal canister under the sink to heat it up. She did this multiple times while making the shake. A thin shake is literally a shake with a higher ratio of milk to ice cream. It is not a cup of melted ice cream. It was thinner in the sense that I could suck it through a flimsy straw, but it was basically melted ice cream so very sugary. I am a Chef Spike fan from every cooking show he was on, but the four stars I gave this restaurant is not because it's my fav, but it has tasty food and all of the options available make it hard to decide. That said, I need a bigger patty Chef Spike. The flyer says 1/3 lb ground beef. I didn't believe it today. And MY burger didn't look like Chef Symons when he visited with one the Jersey Shore tarts. I don't even have to use any condiments on my burger (except the special sauce that already comes on it, which is a delicious chipotle mayo btw), so that's when I know it's top quality. The fries are killer as well, and paired with some of that chipotle mayo like I was talking about, and you're in heaven. I'm a fan of Five Guys, and thought to myself "I wonder how this will compare." Now I realize if the two were side by side, I'd run into Good Stuff happily. I ordered the Obama Burger, which includes Applewood Bacon, Onion Marmalade, Roquefort Cheese & Delicious Horseradish Mayo. Somehow this sweet/savory mixture hit just the right spot. Great spot to get a burger, shake, and fries in Georgetown. Considering the alternative dining spots in this area, Good Stuff Eatery is also relatively well priced. I went with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and there was pretty much no line (we arrived around 1pm). We decided to get burgers and share a regular size fries and shake (ok, the shake was purely my idea, but after reading all the reviews about amazing toasted marshmallow milky way shakes, how could I say no!). I got the bacon cheeseburger and my buddy got the steak burger. We got the village fries and a regular size Milky Way shake. We were able to grab a seat upstairs by the windows facing M street easily. The food took around 15 minutes but we entertained ourselves with the nfl games on the tvs. Plenty of screens upstairs. The food arrived and we loaded up on the sauces for the fries. When we got upstairs we were surprised by the size of everything! The fries were huge (would recommend sharing the even smaller size). The shake was also huge! We decided to share one after seeing what size everyone was walking ways with when we ordered. Must have been that everyone (except for us) ordered the kiddie size shakes! The patty on the burger was also a good size. There were some folks on yelp complaining about the potions but I would say they were plenty big to get your gluttony on! The burgers were delicious and I devoured mine between swigs of the shake and chomping the fries. The breads were even unique to each burger which was really cool. Not what I expected at a casual spot. The fries were over seasoned for our tastes. Some portions were doused in Rosemary and others had none. They were also not consistent in terms of crispness but overall good. Like I said, sharing the small would have been fine. The shake was amazing and very creamy.
