This place is open for breakfast but their breakfast menu is not as robust as their lunch menu. I was crazing a sandwich and my sister and I split a prosciutto panini and a signature Cuban sandwich. Yup. Both were delightful. The staff was busy trying to fill catering orders for lunches. But managed to prep our meals quickly. Staff was busy but friendly. The smoked turkey sandwich is quite good, fresh, well composed. Customer service is uneven. I live in alabama but was visiting my dad who works at the VA. We walked over there for lunch and got a turkey and ham sandwich to split & each got a soup. He got lobster bisque & i got broccoli & cheese. i cannot rave about this place anymore it was hands down the best sandwich i have had probably ever! 10/10. Average. DC is the best city for fast casual food, so there is no need to settle for an average sandwich or salad. Devon and Blakely certainly has a large selection of customizable foods, but it reminded me of average grocery store level "custom" - I can buy my choice of pre-shredded cheese, cold bacon bits, or premade chicken salad at Safeway for cheaper (probably). For continence, there are plenty of additional quick and somewhat customizable options around the corner that taste much better. read more

I think Devon & Blakely is an excellent choice for lunch for working professionals and students around Foggy Bottom. The food tastes very fresh and prices are affordable. I recommend the Butternut Squash and Apple soup it is ridiculously delicious. I get it. A lot of people knocked off stars because it's either expensive or because the sandwiches are pre made. BUT, it's convenient, and their sandwiches are hella tasty. They have like 528362827 options to choose from. And, if you were so inclined, you could have them make you whatever you want. With that being said, the reason I go here is the soup. They have so many delicious options to choose from. My personal favorite is the chicken pot pie soup. I still haven't been able to find that anywhere else but here. I would knock it down a star only because they're not made in house. BUT, I'm chalking that up to keeping a consistent product and will let it slide since it's so damn good. read more

It's near the Foggy Bottom metro so I usually stop in here for breakfast. Their breakfast wraps/sandwiches are pretty good. I usually go for the sausage, egg and cheese. All their sandwiches look tasty plus they do catering. My only gripe is sometimes when you're ready to pay, you have to wait for someone to come from around the counter to head to the register to ring you up. I'm hoping they hire a cashier or someone to work the register at all times when people want to pay. It can get irritating if you're in a rush. I guess I'll have to use plan my time more accordingly when heading there for my usual breakfast fill ups. Staff is usually nice although you can tell they aren't morning people. But I wouldn't be either when you have to arrive at 6AM every morning to prep. read more

Foggy Bottom is a desert for a variety of lunch options, but Devon and Blakely at least had a lunch for under $10. Specializing in sandwiches, salads, and soups, it's a quick grab and go place, perfect for picnicking on your work lunch break. I was having trouble deciding what to order, and the girl behind the counter let me do 1/2 Buffalo Chicken Wrap and 1/2 Club ($8). I preferred the buffalo chicken, but the 1/2 was absolutely perfect. I loved the option of mixing sandwiches for no additional cost, and I would come back for that luxury. Compared to a national chain like Panera, Devon and Blakely is much less expensive for a similar lunch. Service was fast as well. read more

Devon and Blakely used to be one of my go-to spots for lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches and soups, so there should be something that satisfies pretty much everyone. They have vegetarian options as well, which is what I usually go with. The avocado cheddar sandwich is delicious, but for what you get (avocado, cheese, cucumber, tomato, and sprouts) the price is kind of high. It comes out to be ~$9 for something pretty simple. Seating inside can be hard to find (esp around lunch rushes), and every time I go, open tables seem to be pretty messy with crumbs and stuff all over the table. Doesn't seem like someone goes around and cleans seating area often throughout day. Overall really good food but on the pricier side. read more

I have been waiting watching the development of the new complex that is opening up across from the Foggy Bottom metro for a couple of years now -- it has gone from a piece of land to a huge ditch and now, it's almost done! It is amazing to see the process. Other than a Whole Foods and beautiful new apartments, I was not sure what would be there. Today, I walked by and saw that the first store in the complex has opened! It was a Devon & Blakely. This is my first time at a Devon & Blakely and had a wonderful lunch with my friend, Beverly. We snagged a table quickly (it was packed!) and went to look at the numerous food options -- they had a breakfast bar (coffee & patries), oatmeal station, make your own salad station (you picked up a container of salad, small or large, and ask them to put in your toppings of choice), cold foods bar (i.e. different salads and veggies), sandwiches, wraps, & paninis. All of the food was displayed behind glass so you could have an informed survey of your options. Everything looked delicious and I had a hard time making up my mind. I ended up with the Blackened Chicken Gyro. They took it from the display and heated it up before handing it to me. After making the food selections, we went to the cashier in front to pay. The food is a little pricier, but I was pleased when I bit into my gyro. The chicken was tender, moist and perfectly seasoned. The pieces were thinly sliced and completed with a bed of lettuce, bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. Each bite was full of flavor! The pita bread was soft and chewy. The restaurant itself actually reminded me a little bit of the prepared foods section of a Whole Foods, with the various stations and a variety of choices that allow you to make a personalized lunch. There was a section of tables for people to enjoy their meal -- nothing special or fancy. It feels clean and fresh inside and definitely inviting for a lunch spot. Unfortunately, I was reprimanded from taking pictures (company policy, I assume)... and even when I was leaving and wanted to take a picture of the exterior, one of the guys working there was standing outside. I managed to take a picture of my food (that's allowed, right), but that is all. I expect that the complex at 2200 Pennsylvania is going to be a happening place and it has already begun with the grand opening of Devon & Blakely! Located right across the street from GW Hospital in the middle of al the hustle and bustle of Foggy bottom, you'll find this cute sandwich shop. Soups and sandwiches galore! I love the way it's set up. Their sandwiches are all on display. All you have to do is walk in, point to which sandwich you want out of the bajillions shown, and they'll heat it up for you. If you don't like any presented, simply make your own from all the ingredients shown on the board. Besides the sandwiches, they also have an array of salads, soups, and baked goods. One of my favorite fast and healthy options for the Foggy Bottom area. I always get the tomatoes and mozzarella on sourdough ficelle, muahh just the perfect amount of crunch, cheesiness and freshness. My wife and I were looking for a nice sandwich. There were not too many options in the neighborhood we were in, so we chose D & B. The absolute worst service we have ever experienced! The staff behind the counter was a cackle fest. We felt as though we were imposing on them, to give our order. Interacting with us was obviously a chore. I had a really bad experience here. I've been coming here for a while but after today this might be my last trip. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. The nice lady behind the glass told me that I was ordering the last one. She threw together a broken crab cake and heated it in a microwave and toasted the bun with the lettuce and tomatoes in the toaster. The crab cake was AWFUL. Living so close to Maryland there is no excuse why the crab cake was 80% breading. The sweet potatoes it came with were burnt. And I didn't enjoy my lunch one bit today. The chicken looks more like turkey and only a couple thin pieces were added (for an additional cost of $2.95. Is the chicken made of gold?) This is conveniently located near GW and the metro. Their section of soup is amazing! They had over ten different kinds of soups! I did not sample any but they looked good. I wish I had. They have a large salad station. Not self make, you tell the workers what you want and they'll make it for you. They also have a menu of ideas to pick from. Then the last section is pre made sandwiches. Again, over ten different kinds. It reminded me of Europe of a bit. Pick your sandwich, they will toast it (if needed) and go! I opted for half a wrap. I like that you can get just half vs the whole. The whole Buffalo chicken wrap with avocado and lettuce was $8.00. The half seemed enough for me. I asked if it was made that day and said just said some this morning some yesterday morning. I would say mine was made the previous day. The chicken was good and flavorful, the Buffalo sauce was pretty standard. I liked that the chicken was shredded and not fatty. It was a good quality. The lettuce in it was decently fresh. The avocado was fresh. I think it could have used a couple more items. When checking out I asked for a cup of ice water to go. It was 50 cents. This always gets me at restaurants. If I'm a playing customer I think cups, lids, and ice should be complimentary. Versus the small shot glass size cup they give you everywhere. Get to know the soup guys! They're so nice and will get to know your usual flavors. Also, if you're pretty, they will always hook you up with a sample. Use caution because sometimes the soup is very hot and you can burn your tongue. I would recommend the Corn Chowder or Baja Chicken. It's a little pricey for a college guy like me, but hell, sometimes you have to splurge. A fun little fact about this location that not many people know is that the doors work both ways!!!!!!!! If you like to push, you can push the door. But if you like to pull, by all means, pull that door! It's a great people watching activity with your friends and you can place bets on whether the approaching patron is going to push or pull the door upon entry. read more

I have ordered food in from Devon & Blakely several times and I enjoy the healthy selection. Their soups are tasty and I love the build your own salad option. Their delivery men are also really nice. I do however, think they are a bit disorganized over there and careless with their preparation. I ordered lunch after lunch hour (around 1:30) and they took over an hour and a half to deliver. Today I found two large pieces of paper buried in my salad...gross. Because of those surprises I don't think I'll order from here any more. read more
