WOW....Where do I begin? Everything about this quaint, intimate café and market is top-notch!! It is the most unique and delicious establishment with the best empanadas you'll find anywhere on the North Fork. The owner is the kindest, and most welcoming soul. They have wonderful soups, unique salads and delicious desserts just to mention a few things to look forward to ....Being that Mattituck is one of my favorite towns on the North Fork, my husband and I always make a point of stopping at goodfood. The food at GoodFood is not good, it's great! It is a really great little "healthy food option" cafe with a small, solid menu of things as well as some fun empanada combos and a counter of quick homemade salads, sides, and more. It is a great breakfast or lunch option to take to go or to eat there (there are a few small tables inside and outside). My personal favorite is the power bowl (add the salmon)! The ingredients are all fresh - sometimes it can take a little bit for the food to come out so if you are ordering to go I would suggest using their easy online ordering tool on their website. Overall I continue to really enjoy Goodfood. After having been super keen on the empanadas for a while, I bought a frozen package for the first time. It contained a printed ingredient list, and I was kind of taken aback to find that there were elements- I believe it was the dough, specifically- that are imported and as a result seem to contain preservatives. I had- perhaps naively- assumed the empanadas were made entirely from scratch on site. So on my most recent visit I instead went with the milanesa sandwich. So disappointed in this spot. I ordered a pick up order and was very clear I wanted a kids quesadilla add chicken. I get there and they ring me up for an adult quesadilla. I ask them why I'm not being charged for a kids quesadilla and chicken up charge and they state they have no choice but to ring it up that way. I Ask why I wasn't notified that they can't just up charge a Kids quesadilla when I called and placed the order she says she doesn't know. I state if its not made yet I don't want it because it is for a two year old she says it's already made even though I just placed the order and they had just told me the order wasn't ready a couple minutes earlier. I now have to pay a much larger up charge for just chicken. Kids plain chz quesadilla is 5.95 Adult quesadilla with guacamole and onions is 10.95 With 3.00 up charge for chicken I paid the 13.95 for only cheese and chicken. I'm just disappointed I was not notified that a chicken quesadilla for a child was just not possible. I would have revised my order on the phone if I was notified. Rude owner; upon my inquiries regarding types of flours & knowing what my body can handle, the woman was less than polite regarding food ingredients/ sensitivities, basically argued I was misinformed about wraps & flours. I'm required to steer clear of whole wheat due to sensitivities. Owner was less than helpful when I explained my wheat issues. Friend enjoyed her food so I can't-give zero stars but for anyone with food sensitivities (dr confirmed- not restaurant owner commanded) don't go b/c management will tell you what you can eat!!! I'm so torn on my review because the food is great, the service is great, and they are insanely veg-friendly, but the prices seem high for what you get. I paid $13 for one sweet potato taco, one fish taco, and a bottle of water. You could easily pay $50 for a hearty lunch for two here. Stopped in here last weekend for lunch while on a road trip. I was drawn in by the fact that it off the main street, so easier to find parking and also had a solid amount of outdoor seating. When we first walked in, I was a little disappointed because I thought it was going to be like a standard deli but how wrong I was! Everything we ate here was 5 stars! Went here for the first time on July 4th The food was awesome, I had the steak sandwhich with goat cheese arugula and sautéed onions. The sandwich was great! Really enjoyed it, it isn't something I would usually order but I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. I went there with my wife mother in law and dog and sat outside and had a nice time. However when my pregnant wife went inside to put the trays away the staff was a little rude to her. She went to dump the food in the garbage and got hot sauce sprayed on her cuz no one took out that garbage. I love stopping by good food for a nice snack whenever I drive by love lane. There are many different choices for both food and drink that I usually enjoy. A personal favorite of mine is the iced tea and a muffin, but sometimes I like to switch it up. Some of the food that I have is great, although other times it is only "good food."
