I have personally dealt with the dishonest employees at this Goodwill. I bid on an auction they sponsored, won the auction, and paid for the items along with the shipping and taxes. However, this Goodwill's employees have refused to ship my items to me and now I am forced to file a complaint about them and then have my District Attorney pursue criminal charges of theft. Do not trust them about anything. read more

I saw another review with the exact same experience as me today... so I thought I'd share. I believe that my ShopGoodwill order from this location may have also been cancelled fraudulently. Particularly because the item I purchased was jewelry made from semi precious metal, I got an email that my order was shipped, and then later on it was somehow cancelled and refunded under a UTL code. This has never happened to me with ShopGoodwill & seeing a similar review raises some red flags for me. Management may want to investigate. read more

Similar to other Goodwills in some respects, but a number of drawbacks too. The store is smaller than most, with more limited items. The non-clothes section is probably half as big and the men's clothing section is much smaller too. I also felt like the store was more picked over with not as many quality things, plus the prices seemed higher. I don't think I'd come back to this location. read more

As a longtime Woodstock resident, I've been going to this Goodwill for 15 years, and have always really appreciated having it in my neighborhood- I've always felt it was a cut above the other area Goodwill locations. The merchandise has always seemed to be good quality, it's always clean and well lit, the racks are rarely overstuffed, and an important aspect to me, it seemed like there were several long term employees, a sign of a good employer and a higher likelihood of very good customer service. Which has always been my experience, until today, when I had the most genuinely shocking experience. My partner and I stopped in today to kill a few minutes while we waited for our kids to get out of school, and so I could look for a few pieces for a crafting project I'm working on. I quickly found an item that seemed like it would work well for me, picked up a couple of other unneeded but fun items, and made our way to the register, just as I had many times over the years. As I reached the front counter, I was suddenly accosted by a female employee who I didn't recognize from prior visits. She informed me that she "knew that I had been trespassed" from this location. I was literally astonished, as I've never had even the smallest unpleasant exchange with staff here and would certainly remember if they had kicked me out! I assured the woman that there was a mistake, explaining how many times I frequent this location, often with my kids. She replied sarcastically "oh, I know". Still shocked by the accusation and even more so by the rude demeanor, I asked the woman what this could possibly be regarding- I would've been glad to show my ID and verify that neither she nor any other employee has ever "trespassed" me or my partner. She told me that she couldn't tell me that. Even stranger, she told me there was one employee there who, if she said that I had been trespassed, she would 100% take her word for it. This woman came over to where we were standing and "verified" that my partner and I were not allowed in the store. Having shopped this goodwill probably at least once a month for 15 years, I can tell you I have never seen this woman before in my life. They then made us leave the merchandise we planned to buy and leave the store. This experience was so surreal I don't even know what to think. Again, I've spent probably well over $1,000 in the years I've been going to this store. I've never even had a disagreement with an employer here. I understand that some businesses can attract shady characters, and I don't begrudge them keeping an eye out. But to respond to a longtime customer not only with the absolute certainty of a mistaken assumption but to do so with such utter lack of manners or professionalism is truly shocking to me. I would gladly have shown ID, politely found a way to show that this was seemingly a case of mistaken identity, but it was clear from the outset that these employees were not interested in a positive outcome. What disturbs me most greatly is that this was one of only a couple times my partner has joined me shopping at this store, and it's really difficult for me to not wonder if the treason these two white women suddenly singled us out (again, because I am in this store so often) is because my partner is a BIPOC. I truly hope that the reason I was, after 15 years, accused of a being a pretty crook banned from their neighborhood thrift store was simply coincidental to my partner's race. In any event, I still cannot believe or accept how rude, hurtful, and unprofessional these two employees behaved. Surely there must be some kind of policy of Goodwill of the greater Willamette to ensure that banned individuals are not mixed up with loyal, long term customers who are normally quite happy to spend their money supporting Goodwill and their mission, rather than leaving in tears of embarrassment and frustration. I really, really hope someone higher in the Goodwill organization will take the time to reach out and make this right. Until then I feel like my only recourse is to publicize this horrifying incident. read more

Totally unbelievable! Won't be donating to Goodwill again. So many other worthwhile organizations. I have read articles suggesting against donating to Goodwill. The reason is money made from the sales of donated good benefits the CEO's and upper management and not those really in need. We had e-waste and planned on donating clothing as well. Goodwill was close and convenient. We arrived at Goodwill and inquired if they wanted old hangers. They said no...they couldn't sell them. No problem. We advised we had clothes on hangers since we thought it would be more convenient instead of folding and unfolding. They advised they would need to inspect each hanger before they would accept. Seriously??? Needless to say we left and did not make the donation. So...Goodwill. your lost. We went elsewhere and they were more than happy to take our donation. Lesson learned...won't be back! read more

Not a huge fan of this location. Small, awkward parking lot with doors facing the road rather than the parking. Very busy inside and relatively small. I'd rather drive to the locations on 82nd or Powell. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill in town. So much so I've debated writing this review I always find the best home goods items and glassware. I've also found entire sets of perfection condition, vintage plate sets. You just have to take the time to go through the entire section to bird dog all the plate sizes, bowls, tea cups, saucers, gravy bowls and creamers etc. Target also does donations here. We always find brand new items from Target at highly discounted prices. New in box without flaws. We've also found some amazing footwear. Brand new adidas for $24 and Levi's jackets for $10. I loaded up on gifts for my brother this Christmas. All NWT or in brand new condition. Managed to pick up a duraflame heater for $25 and they're going for $200 online rn. Also grabbed a new Target hanging chair for $15 and it's still on their website for $234. If you take the time, you'll find amazing things. I've found some of my favorite wall art here over the years. One of which is a wood inlay piece of 7 different types of wood with a scene of mountains and antelope by a PNW artist from the 70's. read more

We went to see Mercedes at The 91st and Southeast Powell Goodwill in Portland Oregon because we had accidentally donated a bag which contained a wallet. She took our name and number and within an hour she called us back with not only the wallet but a cell phone and a wrist phone that was in the bag as well. 100% customer service thank you Mercedes great job for you and your folks at The 91st and Southeast Powell Goodwill. read more

I was shopping in the front part of the store where women's dresses are and there were maybe 3 of us, and 4 security guards up our a$$ watching every single selection we made. I understand that theft is an issue but this was definitely overkill. I've been to all of the goodwills in the area and this was the only one that's acted like every single customer was some kind of kleptomaniac. Then on top of this, a girl left her cart with items and said she was going to run next door to get some cash. When she returned the employees had taken her cart and threatened to trespass her if she came back. Nothing more to the story, I saw the whole thing and told them that was ridiculous. So clearly some of these employees are on a power trip. I highly recommend watching "The Stanford Prison Experiment." It shows how power can go to your head, even perceived power. I won't be returning to this branch and encourage everyone to stop shopping here as well. read more

Well, for a Goodwill this place is really, really clean! Everything is organized well! The electronics, especially, aren't overloaded or junked together. You can easily browse the electronics, select, and try out what you may want to purchase, without feeling overwhelmed by junk! The bedding section doesn't have as many comforters as I'd have thought. The staff are helpful and don't mandate a bag check. That's nice and you aren't accosted for no reason. All the workers are hardworking and pleasant to be around. read more

Living only six blocks away, it's a nice walk away. I once needed a shoulder strap for a larger carry bag, so I bought a small satchel bag for it's strap for $4.50. Got home to find a $10 bill in one of it's interior pockets; better than free, thank you Goodwill! Just last month my new housemate wanted to go there, her looking for clothing, while I looked through housewares. I found six tea plates, hand-painted with old Dutch scenes. My Dutch mother collects anything of Dutch/Delft nature, so I bought the best one. When I researched the maker's mark on the back, I found that it was made in Germany in the 1907-1928 period; Wow! Next morning I bought the other five, carefully packaged them, and mailed them to mom. My mother was quite happy with the 100 year-old antiques, that cost me $18+shipping(basically nothing for your mother). Score! read more

This location may be small but they have amazing selections every time I go. I've gotten most of the clothing I wear here from name brands that easily saved me hundreds of dollars. Moving in nearby, this store has aided in providing all the basics over several months. Even with shifting staff, it's kept in order consistently and is always a pleasant experience. read more

Sometimes, unexpectedly, you need to run out to get cheap blankets and stuff them alongside the house so the pipes don't freeze (again). And maybe one curtain panel. And some extra work pants. I have to force myself to not stop in here every day. It's in my way home and so convenient. The location is nice and great for our neighborhood. They have a decent sized lot, but drive cautiously because of pedestrians and bad driving. The store in not too large, which I like since I get overwhelmed easily. I'm almost always greeted or smiled at on my way in. They offer smaller carts for their smaller sized store. Should you need a regular sized cart for your baby or whatever your needs may be, make sure to ask up front. They only have two and it might take a minute, but they are happy to help. There are always employees actively working throughout the store to try to keep things stocked and in order. They really seem to. Have a great team atmosphere in this store. I always here them joking with one another or conversing like family. That makes me happy to see. Although, not always attentive or privy to eye contact, you might have to hunt someone down for assistance. I appreciate the diverse group of people they have working for them. The prices are okay, but I'm used to it being cheaper where I am from. They get a lot of new stuff from Target that seems to be priced higher than the retailers clearance price! I really wish they would make items a bit cheaper. The aisles can get crowded and stuffy. You get all sorts of characters in here, including the lovely parents that can't seem to watch their own children. That's not the stores fault, but I would like to see management take a more proactive role in making sure parents watch their kids. I tend to come when there aren't as many people so it's not so picked over or crowded. I try to look through the bins they are using to stock the shelves before anyone else get to it. You never know what you're gonna get. It could be a bust, but I typically score at least one great item I can't seem to live without. The bathrooms have been cleaned and fully stocked every time I come and they offer a changing station for my baby! Thank you Goodwill. That's a BIG deal to me. read more

I am always on the lookout for good cast iron skillets and pot's or lids. I come to Goodwill on the chance that I will score but have come to find that more often than not, their cast iron is way over priced. Just because you found a rusty pot does not make it antique. If you can't prove it, it's just rusty. My advice. Check the Wal-Mart site for the best prices. Because they buy in bulk, they sell lodge cast iron cheaper than the Lodge web site offers! Check and see for yourself. read more

Goodwill is like a box of chocolates. "You never know what your gonna get." This is a small Goodwill. I roll in here sometimes when I'm in the neighborhood. I've probably visited 8-10 times. In that time, I've purchased exactly one thing. A semi-rare, vintage (ok, 1992) kid's board game called "Forbidden Bridge". Cost? $2.99. This game was tremendous fun for the one time I played it. What was more fun (for me) was selling it later for $39.99. read more

As is the case with many Portland thrift stores, this one is somewhat overpriced. They do have a lot of nice, gently used items. I wouldn't really purchase much besides clothes here though because of the prices. I saw a used, dirty coffee maker there that was at least 5 years old...and they wanted more than you'd pay for a brand new one! I guess it depends on the worth of the item to you. Every day they have a different color tag on sale. I last got a super cool vintage linked purse that was priced at 5 dollars, for 2.50 because 'green tags' were on sale that day! It also looked like they had some good books. read more

The best section in this Goodwill is the book section. I also find newish office supplies here which saves big any day over Office Depot and the like. Need a basket for home or a gift--this is the place to find on the cheap. Don't like the color? That's what spray paint is for...see my Woodstock Bi-Mart review if you need some. Most items here other than the books and office supplies are rather overpriced for a thrift store but, it is, for the most part, clean and organized and the workers are polite. Vintage hunters should be aware that the Goodwill now has their own online selling venue sorta like eBay. They employ peeps to research pricing on older items and you won't find any real deals on vintage at any of their stores like back in the "old days". read more

I don't think it's right to mark up a dress to be $20 when it has been used. A lot of items are priced fairly though ... I will forgive the minor transgression. This place was the smallest Goodwill I've been to. Really boring, dark. Very small selection. The people shopping didn't seem that cool. I checked the aisles and looked through the shirts. I'm religious about checking through every t-shirt 'cause sometimes you'll score something you're interested in. Anyway, if I don't find something cool I don't bother going back and I'm never going back to this place. DEAD ZONE!! I didn't bother to look through the music/books area 'cause I try to get in and out quickly. Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

One of my favorite Goodwills around town. They seem to get higher quality items pretty regularly. There are some stores that I have been to a number of times but have never purchased anything ever. This one, it's more unusual if I don't find SOMETHING here, although I will not compromise my standards for the sake of spending money. Besides this being conveniently located less than 8 blocks away from my home, it is my favorite out of the many around my se portland area because of their FRIENDLY EMPLOYEES!! I appreciate genuine people and the workers here are helpful in anyway possible.
