Hands down the MOST ORGANIZED thrift store I have ever been to. The store even smelt good! How does that happen!? Clothes, shoes, books, CDs, and DVDs are plentiful and super organized, although they don't have a ton of furniture or household things. There were also a lot of Halloween costumes and wigs in the front of the store. Definitely will be returning for my future thrift needs! read more

I work nearby and come in here often. I don't know why, I usually leave shaking my head. I understand that they are going for a more upscale look and feel, but frankly I don't feel that the price they are charging is justifiable. Their stuff is not that great... there a similar stores (which I will not name, I'm keeping that to myself for selfish reasons) that have better quality and a larger selection for $2-3 per garment. It's worth the extra gas to go to these other stores rather than pay too much for used clothing. WIth that said, this place rocks for Halloween costumes. The best I've ever seen anywhere. read more

For all of you punks who said that this Goodwill is too expensive - YOU CAN SUCK IT. This Goodwill is fuggin awesome. It is so well organized - BY SIZE, YES, FINALLY. And has NICE CLOTHES. Sorry you have to pay $7 for a NICE BLOUSE, but hey they are competing with FreeStyle - what do you expect? Ok if you want a cheaper place, then go to the Arden Goodwill location. This place is worth the extra money. They basically have the downtown boutique staff scour the other Goodwill locations for nicer items, then they purchase those items from the dumpier Goodwills, and sell it at their location. Goodwill is just getting SMART, that's all :) My first visit into this location had me gasping at the nice scenery. I was in awe. And with a low budget, I managed to buy too much stuff. I found 2 amazing coats that fit my PERFECTLY, hard to do when so many coats are humongous. I also found 2 comfy sweater jacket thingies and a beautiful necklace. The shoes - I wouldn't pay $10 for someone elses shoes but that's just my preference. I went into this place, excited to finally have a Goodwill within walking or bicycling distance, only to be disappointed. The store is clean and well organized, but the prices are a joke. Who is going to pay $20 for used, scuffed up shoes when you can get the same thing brand new at Ross for half that price? $25 for a Forever 21 dress that you can get new for the same price or less at the mall? Ridiculous. I don't know how they're going to stay in business when all the other Sacramento thrift stores are WAY cheaper. Even the Goodwill stores in San Francisco, where everything is overpriced, don't charge this much. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and it's okay. This boutique style Goodwill has a lot of mall clothes and name brands, which doesn't do anything for me because I like going to thrift stores to find random vintage clothes from the early 90's and back. If you are a high school chick from Elk Grove who wants to go midtown to buy chic used stuff, then this place is for you! What really saddened me is that this place doesn't carry VHS movies! I know, I know, it is 2011, but to me, VHS movies are like 12 inch records. I love the quality of a vhs tape, especially when watching an 80's movie. It just looks so 80's. I bought pretty in pink on dvd and it looks too crisp and clean. That is why I like VHS tapes and it really makes me sad that this midtown goodwill doesn't sell them! Anywho, this shop is cute. I'm giving you all 5 stars even though your LP (loss prevention) guy was stalking me the whole time. Well I'm pretty sure he was loss prevention because I've worked retail long enough to know how they work! Do I look suspicious? Maybe I did because I was in there a long time and I was going through every little CD you guys had there for a road trip. Anyway, he was a tall, lanky dude wearing a cowboy hat and everyone that worked there seemed to know him. He kept watching me and then "shopped" next to me the whole time while he gave me sideways glances. I could see him in the corner of my eye watching me. He never picked up anything to "buy", but as soon as I made eye contact with him like "hey dude, I know you're watching me" he pretty much stopped. Then I saw him at the register buying something and then asking the clerk if he works tomorrow. Yep I'm pretty sure he was loss prevention. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I dunno because I could just feel it. This has never happened to me at this shop before, so I'm gonna let it go. Anyway, that kinda turned me off because it made me feel self-conscious the whole time I was there. I wasn't going to steal anything I promise! I just take a long time to shop, especially at thrift stores because that's how you find the gems. But I get it, people steal like crazy and they need to be watched. But still, I didn't like it and I wasn't doing anything weird. Sheesh. (Btw I did notice a disc missing out of one of the albums I was interested in, and so I just want to say to the LP guy- it wasn't me!) Jeez I must sound so paranoid. Lol I do love this shop though because they have such a great selection of books, CDs and movies. They usually have fun vintage lamps for sale, too. Also lots of great shoes along the wall when you walk in, cool jewelry, sunglasses, and a pretty good selection of clothes. My favorite time to come here is near Halloween because they are THE place to find a great new or used costume for a great price, including wigs, makeup and accessories. As a bonus they have clean bathrooms and a few dressing rooms so you can try on all your great new pieces. I really appreciate that they have public bathrooms because I always have to go! Parking sucks because it's midtown so you'll have to drive around the block a few times looking for a meter, but I live here so I always walk. So much easier. Today was special for me at the Goodwill Boutique because I had a poetic experience (other than cowboy dude following me around). Today we all got the news that Prince died, and since I was deeply saddened about it I took a walk and listened to Prince on my ipod. It was just me, Prince, and my fitbit. I decided to stop by the Goodwill Boutique, and as I was shopping I not only heard Prince playing on the radio, I also found the one and only Purple Rain album in the store. The clerk said that a few people came in looking for it but didn't find it. I found it in the Soundtracks section. Guess I was the lucky one. RIP Prince, you will be missed. xo read more

I adore me some good second hand retailing, so I was pleased to see a new Goodwill pop up right by my work! This Goodwill location opened today and so far it is one of the nicest ones I've seen in the area. Of course it is clean and nicely organized since it is new, but the merchandise seems to generally be more desirable than some other locations I've visited. By this I mean that I think I'd have a better chance of finding cute stuff I'd actually wear here. I only stopped in briefly on my lunch break for a quick peek, but let me assure you that I will be back soon to buy lots of things that I probably don't need...and not even feel guilty about it because it's a charitable organization! =) read more

I'm a thrift store shopper from way back...and this Goodwill Thrift store is great. I was hesitant to even write a review because I'm not sure I want anyone else to discover this downtown gem...but here goes! First the store is spotless and we noticed there was NO stale stinky smell. All the clothes are hung neatly by size. The store does looks more like a boutique than a thrift store. The clothes items themselves are uber nice and in good to excellent condition...there are also high end items. Nothing smelled of Febreze! (Don't you just hate that smell?) I saw one woman leaving with two beautiful purses. I could just kick myself for checking out the dresses first! Faced with lots of choices...I finally bought a beautiful summer dress with original tags still on...and a light summer jacket in perfect condition that I would never have paid the original price. Can't wait to go again. BTW: Because the location is downtown you will have to be alert when looking for a place to park. read more

This store reminds me more of a small vintage boutique clothing place then a Goodwill location. But it's not a bad thing. It's great for cool finds at a very cheap price. Not only is it one of the cleanest Goodwill's that I have been to but the clothing organized by department, size, style and even color. They also have used shoes, purses, books, CD's, movies, dishes, vinyl records and appliances. The only bad thing is that you have to be really patient and shift through almost every piece of clothing to find something worthy of purchase. But with enough time you can leave the store with a new outfit to wear. I went and found a cute skirt from Banana Republic (in great condition) for only $7, that could have easily cost $70 at the actual retail store. So if you are on a budget and dying to wear something new (at least new to you), I would highly recommend Goodwill downtown. read more

Early Warning: There are kids' books and DVDs, but no kids' toys, games, clothes or shoes. This is actually a plus, though, because it makes for a quieter shopping experience. I have four kids and know of many other places I can find them clothes at discount prices. This is an excellent thrift store: clean, well-managed, with sizes where they belong. I now buy all my purses here because I am a Liz Claiborn fan-they always have a good supply of authentic designer purses. I give it four stars because the prices are too high. How have to shop here knowing that it is a cross between a thrift and a bargain store, with quality thrown into the mix if you are willing to look for it. Somtimes, the sales people are great. Other times, they seem a little overworked. They are not rude, however, and that is a plus. Overall, a good store. read more

The nicest Goodwill I have ever been to--- this location is one of the Goodwill "boutiques." Employees personally choose products at the warehouse that are then sold at this location. Overall, I'm VERY happy with this location - I came by on President's Day with several bags of old clothes to donate. Decided to look around, again, as I was in the nicest Goodwill I have every laid eyes on! Everything was 50% off. Employees were friendly and helpful. I didn't see any clothing that interested me, but I got a beautiful copy of The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins, a large 3x3' handmade Indian wooden tray with inlaid tiles, a gold mirrored vanity tray, a Japanese handpainted tea pot, gold U-shaped earrings, a silver-plated dish, a Mikado crystal clock Made in Germany -- all for less than 50 bucks. UPDATE_1: I WENT HOME AND THE GOLD EARRINGS AND MIRRORED TRAY ARE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!! I'm so sad.... the earrings were Tom Binns-esque without the triple digit price tag. :'( UPDATE_2: I called Goodwill and they will contact me if they find my stuff....fingerscrossed. They're so niiiiiiiice. UPDATE_3: Polishing silver is FUN! The silver dish looks AMAZING and SHINY! It was only 6 bucks too. read more

Clean, well-organized Goodwill, set up as boutique. Prices are higher than a normal Goodwill, but im pretty Goodwills send their "good" stuff to this location. Mostly clothes, shoes, hangbags. Small (compared to other Goodwills) housewares, kitchen stuff. Pretty large book and DVD section. Check out was a little annoying and moved slower than molasses. 6-7 people in line and one one register going, while other coworkers fussed about and didn't offer to help at all. But Ill try to chalk that up to a one time thing. I love thrift stores, and would more than likely visit this one again. read more

This store could easily pass for a vintage shop or trendy boutique. Very organized, clean and orderly. Found a faux leather bomber jacket for $13...great selection of women's shoes, mostly under $15! Want some used books? Okay, you should go to Beers because their selection is better. I always manage to find something awesome here, though. The other reviews are right on...everything is clean and well-organized, but of course they have only been open for a few days. They are a bit pricier than your average thrift store, but it is for charity, folks. I loved how they organized the books and CDs in the back of the store, and the staff was very nice and polite. However, I think the hipsters might drive away the average shoppers...I was pretty annoyed by these skinny jean guys crowding around me and tearing through all the racks for stuff to resell. The cleanest and most well-organized Goodwill I've ever been! Or because this one goes for the boutique style. I visited Crossroad Trading the day before and was totally confused by the tags on the rack. Here, I got a way better experience and was able to start my hunt. Forget about your Goodwill-impression, this location definitely serves tons of better quality (and also not your typical $1.50 cloth) items including women's and men's (only a few racks) cloth, shoes, accessories, home decors, DVD/CD, records and books. During my Sunday hunt, I got a few items that I couldn't resist of not taking them home. A brand new pair of GAP stretchy pants with tag on (was $48) for $8.00! Also got a couple tops and loving the style & price. I'm a happy shopper. I went around 11AM and people started to flood in around 12PM. Cashiers were busy but still remain their friendly-ness. If there is anything I know how to do well, it is being bougie on a budget. I heard through word of mouth that Sacramento has a great thrifting scene and I do not pay full price for anything except food. My first choice was the Adoptable Goods Spca thrift store because this animal lover wanted her money to go back to the animals. However, they were closed because it was a holiday. Goodwill it was then. I must say that I love and appreciate my Clovis and Fresno thrift stores so much more now. I got confused and went to the donation center first, but the employee directed me to the actual store. This Goodwill is located not too far from the State Capitol building on 17th and L street. When I finally found it, I parked in the public parking and paid for an hour of parking which was $3. The Goodwill is located next to the tire shop and looked rundown at first glance. However, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a young and friendly staff of cashiers and was surprised by how small it was. It looked like an upscale boutique. They had almost everything half off because of Presidents' Day. However, even with the half off, things were still pretty pricey and there were no children's clothing at all. I don't have children, but I have nieces, nephews and friends' kids that I would have loved to buy things for. It is very organized and you can easily find things. I was on a search for active wear, but that was a bust. Nonetheless, I did walk away with a pair of Rock and Republic skinny jeans and Michael Kors sandals for a total of $16 which would be a great deal for other people, but I've found Rock and Republic jeans for $6 and a similar pair of Michael Kors heels in Clovis for $3. Overall, it was cool, but I'll stick with my local thrift stores from now on because through meticulous strategizing, there are some great treasures right at home. read more

I love thrift stores, so I go to a ton of them, but this Goodwill is probably the best one I have ever been to. I try to go at least once every few weeks or so to see if there is any new stuff! Since it is in the heart of mid-town, I expected them to have good stuff. But in all honesty, they have all kinds of stuff here including name brands and unique gently-used pieces from off-brands. Although it is mostly secondhand, there is also stuff that is brand new (with tags!) from pretty good companies. I see a lot of New York & Company, Express, Gap, Forever21, etc. They also have clothing for every body size, including a plus-sized section. The store is NOT limited to "just" clothes though. They have a great selection of CDs, movies, TV on DVD, accessories, books, shoes... name it, they probably have it. I would also like to mention that the staff is GREAT. They are ACTUALLY friendly unlike some of the people at other stores in the midtown area. My only complaint? It can be a bit pricey for a Goodwill. I mean, I can understand because there is great stuff. However, there are no sales, or days when certain tags are "half off" or anything. So that would be a great add. They don't bargain either, so if you like a shirt that is $8 but it has a small hole & you ask for a 10% discount... they don't do it. Also, there are no refunds or anything like that, so make sure you like what you buy. Overall it is a great store - I would recommend it to anyone. read more

This place is pretty cool. I didn't expect much from the outside, but this goodwill was ripe with clothing, TONS of DVDs/CDs and even some new items?!? I'm a big goodwill fan in general, but I was amazed by the DVD/CD selection here. Multiple times better than any I've seen at other Goodwill stores. This is the cleanest and nicest Goodwill I have visited, as one of their "Boutique" destinations. Most of the clothes are priced higher than the regular Goodwills ($6.99 and up), but the quality is higher overall. The clothes also have those ink thingies on them that stop you from stealing them. Not that I would, but it was different than the normal Goodwill. :-) Also, no kid's clothes, although there are some children's books. I found some really great clothes for myself and the selection for men here was WAY better than any other thrift store I've visited, so I also bought some work shirts for my husband as well. this is the cleanest and most organized goodwill I've been to. yes, the prices are higher but the items they offer are mostly name brand and in great condition. I've seen a lot of Ann Taylor and gap items but most of them are older styles. you have to dig to find something good. I was lucky enough to find an adorable free people sweater for $7 that I had in a different color. when i went to buy it the cashier told me it would have originally cost $200...which made me laugh because free people of course is expensive but not $200 for a lightweight sweater..maybe $90 at most. I told her that and she said we look the price up online...the workers should probably do a lot more research before pricing things.. overall I will be back to find more treasures despite the lack of knowledge on brands..it's still better paying $7 for a sweater that was $90. read more

This store made me fall in love with thrift store shopping. I have always been on the heavier side and whenever my friends would go out thrifting, I hated it. Part of it was that I wasn't looking hard enough. The other part was that it was just difficult finding decent items. When my co-workers recommended that I go to Goodwill, I laughed and approached with caution. I am now broke. But the best part is that I am broke on items that I really, really love. I have found items from Talbots, Lane Bryant, and Torrid (most of them brand new) for very cheap. I built a brand new wardrobe for a little over $100.00... and then built it up a little more. Everyone at work comments on my style and are amazed that most of what I have is from Goodwill. I will admit that sometimes the prices are a little on the high side, but they always have 1/2 off sales once every two or three months. I don't really come here for decor or home goods, but I have looked around, and they have some amazing items if you catch it at the right time. This is known as their 'botique' store with good reason - upon walking in, you would think you are at an upscale consignment store. I have always found quality clothing here. Plus size gals like me appreciate going into a store and finding designer clothing at thrift store prices. Buyer beware - check your garments carefully *before* leaving, as you may find rips/tears or stains. They are pretty strict on their return policy. That being said, I have found some great books here as well, yet the most helpful tip I can provide is : Great music deals!
