My wife drove her car over to Discount Tire and were asked almost immediately how they could be helped. They took down her information and were told that they would get her in as soin as possible. After a shirt wait, Tyler called her up to let her know that she had 2 nails in her tire, but put her at ease,and told her that he can get the tire repaired. She told me that it was such a good experience and that they had her done in less than a half hour, without an appointment. The mechanic talked to me like I'm an idiot. I told him it wasn't working and rather than take a look at it he said I would have to bring it in for a diagnostic test. For a blinker bulb? So I went home. It still didn't work after I had paid $80 to have them fix it. I took it back and they had a mechanic look at it again and he actually fixed it, but not for good. It worked for a while off and on so today I called them back because I want my blinker fixed and they told me the manager told them that since I'm not happy with the service I should go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. WTF!!!

On more than a couple of occasions, I have tried to develop a relationship with local Durango, CO professionals, only to be overcharged and under-serviced. Yesterday, my daughter proudly calls me to share that she is at a competing service center (GreaseMonkey) to secure an Oil/Lube/Filter change. I was shocked to discover that they were planning to charge her $109.00 for a basic synthetic oil change. On top of that, the attendant was indignant when I began asking questions. This fee seemed extreme to me, so I had my daughter call the local Walmart Automotive Service Center to inquire as to their cost, with me remaining on the call. While she was parked in the GreaseMonkey drive-up lane she called the Durango, CO Walmart Automotive Service Center. We asked the GreaseMonkey attendant for a few minutes, but he hovered over my daughter's window while my daughter and I spoke with the Walmart Service Center's attendant. The Walmart Service Center attendant was welcoming, professional, empathetic, knowledgeable, and supportive of my daughter all the while transparently detailing his cost for in-kind services, which was a full synthetic Mobile1 Oil/Lube/Filter Change at $54.00. I remained on the phone to hear him welcome us to his facility, offering guidance for my daughter along the way, and greeting her upon arrival. The service was professional, and upon completion the attendant provided a thorough overview of the general condition of the vehicle, offering me comfort that my daughter's vehicle would be safe for her travel back to Texas. The price was as advertised, and the service was more than expected. I am so thankful to have a dependable proxy that is not taking advantage of my daughter in my absence. THANK YOU, Walmart Service Center! As a consumer, great service at an honest and fair price is considered to be a 'unicorn'. In a small college town, I did not anticipate this quest to be such a challenge. You have earned the 'Unicorn of the Day Award' with my family...as unicorns are magical creatures that are impossible to find. (meanwhile I stopped by a muffler and brake shop and was told they could get me in NEXT Monday). When I returned, CJ got my van in as promised, diagnosed the issue, ordered the parts and had me out the door shortly after 5:30 and the price was entirely reasonable. I worked from the waiting room via their free wifi and over the course of the day overheard the way CJ treated his customers... always with respect and honesty. I heard him say, "You don't owe me anything for checking it out, just bring it back when it has something that needs to be fixed." That is how you build a great customer base. Honest work at decent prices.
