I went to Googie Grill for breakfast. They've done a great job of remodeling both the exterior and interior. Parking is easier both egress and ingress. The interior has had a fresh coat of paint seating is well spaced. It appeared some COVID Precautions were in use. 2 two-top tables occupied. IL was the only other person. I wanted one over-easy egg and a pancake. I was brought coffee and cream in a pitcher. When my order finally arrived 17 minutes later, I was presented with a giant blueberry pancake and two eggs. "Oh, I only ordered one egg." "This is the only way they come. I spoke to my manager and she said it's two eggs." The blueberry pancakes, as you can tell by this picture , was huge and it was delicious , truly delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Delightful restaurant, where not only does the menu offer frikadeller, fish tacos, clams vongole, and the usual burgers and sandwiches, but they seem to care about getting all these things right. My frikadeller came with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce that had the taste and texture of homemade. It's in the kind of building that every Denny's or Cindy's had back in the day, redone with a very nice modernized Googie MCM look. The result is reminiscent of kitsch while still cool and modern. Service is very nice. There is a parking lot. It is a ways from Monterey's tourist zone, so no lines. If I lived around here, I'd be a regular. read more

The roasted and seasoned potatoes are to die for! Fresh peppers and really delicious seasoning... I also had a short stack of the chocolate chip pancakes and I appreciate them making this accommodation. They are delicious and fluffy! - I ate the entire artichoke, the sauces were a great compliment to the dish. My Chinese chicken salad was OK. The chicken was prepared well but I wish there was a few more items in the salad itself, water chestnuts, crunchy cabbage, peanuts...maybe. Thanks for the quick and easy pick up. So happy Googie Grill is open again...we have missed you! Dinner last night was awesome; generous portions of delicious food/wine and great service. After being seated, we went over the menu and were glad that two of our favorites are still offered so we were set until Jesse, our waiter, came by and mentioned the specials of the day. Okay we said, we'll have the specials (since we can come and have our favorites any time). I had the rack of lamb and hubs had the paella and for app we shared the calamari. I travel a lot and whenever I come to the South Bay Area I always make it a point to stay in Monterey and eat at Googie grill. Aside from the staff being excellent the food is top-notch. This is the type of cuisine that you would expect in a fine dining restaurant Occasionally, my wife will travel with me and we always make an appointment to eat here. I have supported this place for years. I was excited that they finally re-opened today after months of waiting. I placed an online order through their site. I received an order confirmation and planned to pick up my meal after I was done shopping. When I went to pick up my order, I was told they no longer accept online orders (even though they have 3 different options to place an online order on their website). I told the manager that I had received an order confirmation and I had a pending charge that showed on my credit card. His response was that the credit card company had to issue me a refund by law. Seriously? I was told I could place another order and pay again, and wait for 20 minutes. No thanks, I guess this is what I get after years of loyalty. So now I have to contact my credit card company to remove the charge. Do yourself a favor and do not place an online order, or better yet, find a place that appreciates and values their customers that have supported them for years. read more

A solid diner that's pretty big too so you're not waiting super long for a weekend group breakfast. I liked my huevos rancheros and the rest of the standard diner fare looked pretty good too. Waited 10 minutes comfort someone to acknowledge our presence to check in. Obviously short handed. Once we sat, service was just fine and attentive. We have been customers of this restaurant for many years. In the last couple of years it seems evident that there is no night manager. Last week we were there and it was another off night for the service and especially the food. There is no consistency so what may be well prepared one week, will be inedible the following week. The staff just seem to be going through the motions with no desire to make the customer happy. This is the direct result of no one in charge. I spoke with the owner, Jenny, and she explained "There is no budget for a manager." Then why isn't she stepping in herself in order for this place to succeed? It was sad to hear an owner be nonchalant about poor food quality. We won't be back and I am sad about this downfall. read more

Great little diner spot. I came in for brunch while waiting for a client meeting. I ordered the corn beef hash and eggs. The corn beef was shredded with a mix of potatoes and green bell peppers and red bell peppers and onion. Two poached eggs were set up on the top of it with hollandaise sauce. I ordered Rye-bread with my meal and it came with a small little cup of jam. This was a really hearty meal so be prepared with a big appetite. I'll be back again to try the eggs Benedict or come back for dinner as the dinner menu looks pretty good too. Service today was pretty good with attentive staff. read more

I went Back To Googies For Dinner They Had Short Ribs as a Special. It was Delicious as Always a Great Portion With Mashed Potatoes and Veggies. My Server Was Good Tho It Looked Like e was The Only Server For a Friday Night It Was Fairly Busy. So as I Was Eating I Asked about Their Other Waiter Jesse That I Feel is The Best at Googie's. They Need a Server There Like Him. I Only Go When He is There. Took a risk trying Danish food for first time. Unfortunately the Frickadellar was just not it for me personally. The red cabbage had what seemed to be a "diet" sweet taste to it and I couldn't finish them. Mashed potatoes were good and were alot chunkier than what I'm used to. My favorite part of this meal was the brown mushroom gravy, really flavorable and delicious. The three meatballs were all generously big but the inside was bland where it does not come in contact with the gravy. read more

Great service and a very pleasing atmosphere. The food from meatloaf to fish and chips was outstanding! The Chowder was very good as well.
