When I originally called to schedule an appointment, they spent a great deal of extra time on the phone walking me through some steps of doing an initial check of my chimney and what to look out for to minimize risk of fire/CO exposure. They did not have to do this, but went way out of their way to spend this extra time with me and lend a hand. Scheduling was easy and efficient, and they use Square app to confirm, track, and enable notifications for the appointment. During the inspection/cleaning, they were very friendly, transparent, communicative, and efficient. They prepped the work area which was then spotless upon completion as if they were never even there. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I had great conversations with the two sons during the appointment, and they took extra time to answer my questions and to walk through safety and operational concerns I had. Overall, this was an excellent experience and I'll be recommending Family Chimney Sweeps to everyone going forward. Great job!

Joel and Armando showed up on time and with all of the necessary equipment to get the job done effectively and efficiently. They showed great respect for our home both inside and out inspecting and cleaning our wood burning stove chimney and the gas fireplace chimney on our 37 year old home. Armando showed his great climbing skills as he walked up their 40 foot ladder like it was nothing, cleaned and inspected everything from the top. Inside, covered everything and removed the chimney flue, cleaned and inspected the flue, chimney and stove. Armando is THE MAN!! When the job was complete, Joel gave me some good maintenance tips for our roof. I have scheduled this company for fall 2024.

Beware of this company! We hired them for a routine chimney cleaning in November 2022. After…read moreseveral scheduling delays, he finally arrived and, after a brief inspection, told us that he did not have the proper tools to complete the job. Blaming creosote buildup, he said we needed the replace our fireplace insert and install a special liner. He charged the full $260 fee, although no services were performed. We clean our chimney every 2 years and never had a problem like this, so we checked with the company that referred us, only to learn that Kent Chimney had run the same scam on six other customers. They are no longer referring customers to Kent. We subsequently hired Advanced Chimney Sweeps, Inc. who performed the cleaning without a problem and inspected the flue with a camera to ensure its integrity. The fireplace is working fine now, saving us thousands of dollars in unneeded repairs.

BEWARE!!!! WOOD STOVE ENTHUSIASTS…read more.. After a long search in my area for an installer of a wood burning stove (purchased from a well known company) I found Hancock Chimney Service. All of the other companies would not install due to the fact the stove was not purchased from them.. Hancock would. Hancock Chimney charged $99 off the bat to come take a look, then they would send a quote. If I ok-ed this, the $99 would be taken off the total, otherwise you were out of luck - basically locked in. I was quoted $6,000. High end from my research. With obviously wanting the stove, I agreed to have them install. End of October 2022 was set for installation. They had called for the stove manual to be sent before installation, so it was HAND DELIVERED to them. Installation date was approaching and after many attempts to reach the installer to go over what I needed and when to expect the installer, I finally received a call TWO days beforehand. The installer ASSURED the 2 pieces I did not have (hearth & stove board) would not hold up the job. Morning of installation came and the two installers spent half the day measuring where to place the stove and looking in boxes of parts. They informed me that unforeseen parts were needed (couple elbows & straps). They were going to pick them up and return the next morning business as usual and get this thing installed!!! The office called the next morning.... $1,700 ADDITIONAL CHARGE, for the few pieces. That was the end of this disaster. Classic bait and switch.... To make this even more of a scam, they sent an invoice for $1,400??? WTF Having worked hard for a living, I understand paying the two workers for their time. But that is just unreasonable for what "labor" they did do (approx. 6 hours). They really expected me to pay a total of $1,499 for an incomplete job and a run-around. UNPROFESSIONAL! Shady company. When they finished, you could not tell they had been here, except the chimney exterior looked great. Mortar joints repaired and sealed, an old ash door removed and replaced with a stone that matched the chimney. They're coming back to work on our driveway pillars next.
