Not the greatest experience... technician was irritated when he showed up to my house. Didn't ask what was going on basically just took apart my dishwasher and started using a knife in the sink to start scraping out filters. Didn't seem prepared with any of his own tools to fix the issue. Never asked what the problem was. Service appointment was approximately five minutes long and he ran out the door. Called Gormsen appliance to fix my Maytag washing machine, in Clairemont. Jose fixed it in about 1hr. He charged a $90 service call/trip charge (from PB) in addition to the parts and labor. Maybe I'm wrong but that sounds a little excessive. I had an expectation that the technician would show me that he's using a genuine Maytag part, tell me about the warranty on his work or the part, give me some pointers on how to prevent the problem from happening again, anything that would imply great service. We had just bought a Maytag top-loading washer from Gormsen Appliances, and shortly thereafter, due to our mis-guided efforts, we broke a part on the lid. We left a message on their phone in the evening, and the next morning Axel showed up at 8 a.m. (they don't open until 9) to see what needed repair. Without a moment's hesitation, he took the lid to his store and ordered the replacement part, special delivery. Then, knowing it would take a few days for the part to arrive, removed a lid from a similar washer that was on display, and gave it to me for temporary use. Three days later the part had arrived, the lid repaired, and was back on my washer. And all done with a smile. And treated as warranty work, with no charge to me. Even though it was my fault. Waited a week to hear back about ordered part, available locally. I called them n no apology, just were going to call yesterday. Got repair window. Repair done. I had such an incredible experience with Kai from Gormsen. I ordered a W/D on Friday afternoon and was able to get delivery for Tuesday. Then later in the day he called me back and was able to get delivery set for Monday (one day earlier). I had just moved in to a new home and didn't have a W/D for a week so I was in desperate need (especially with a 2 year old)! Anyways, I got a great deal (way better than what I was seeing on Home Depot & Lowe's). I thought I had everything setup and ready for a smooth easy delivery -- which did not end up being the case. We have a mid century Gaffers & Sattler stove that we adore, but needed a tune up. The oven was running really hot, 100+ degrees over what it was supposed to be, and the cable that operates one of the door hinges was quite literally hanging on by a thread. I had Gormsen Appliance out two weeks ago to give me an estimate on repairing a gas cooktop and a refrigerator. Repairman said he would look up to see if parts could be ordered and he'd get back to me. I have not heard a word in two weeks, so I called yesterday for an update and was told they'd get right on it and they'd call me back today. No response. I was hoping to have them repair my appliances and possibly apply the $77. for the diagnostic service call, or if they couldnt be repaired, to purchase new appliances from Gormsen Appliance and have them install them. I'm not sure why it takes two weeks to look up parts, but apparently it's a much more difficult task than I thought it was. The total lack of follow through is disappointing, to say the least. read more

I had them come out to look at a dishwasher. The pump was broken and Kai gave me a letter to submit to my Home Warranty Insurance Co, who denied the claim base on bogus reasons. I ordered a part and when it arrived I called Gormsen Appliance again. They do not pick up the phone during business hours 1/2 the time. I finally got a hold of the secretary, who claimed Gormsen Appliance computer system went down and they lost all their customers data. She kept asking me for my address and phone number each time I call in. It sounds like she needs help or doesn't know what she is doing. We had an appointment for the technician to install the pump between 9am and 12 noon. I hadn't heard anything and called at 1130am. The secretary claimed the technician couldn't find his paperwork to give an estimated time of arrival and she would have to call me back. No call back again. I called one more time, and the secretary said the technician was backlogged and would have to call me later when done. I gave up at this point and will go with another company. read more

I don't know if our experience was a fluke, as it seems many people are happy with Gormsen, but they stunk for us. We called about a dishwasher repair and they sent a technician out to look at it. He said that we needed some parts and he'd look them up and call us in a day or two with the cost. We never heard from him. After getting tired of washing dishes by hand for weeks, we called again and asked if he was ever going to give us the price for the repair. They said that he'd have to come out again. No sooner had I opened the door than he was marching straight for the kitchen. He spent no more than 2 minutes looking at the dishwasher and then promptly walked out the door. I asked what we needed to do about the dishwasher and he said "buy a new one" and left. It was the strangest experience. I thought maybe the repairman was on crack? I've never had anyone march right through my door, spend 2 minutes looking a something, and leave. I still shake my head when I think of it. As it turns out, I YouTube'd what was wrong and it came down to a little gasket around the diverter motor...probably a 15 cent part. You can't just buy the gasket, you have to buy the entire sump for $100. I decided just to lube the thing up with a lot of plumbers grease and it works just fine. So Gormsen's response to "just buy a new one" was a little rash since it cost less than $1 to fix. read more

Looked at our dryer last Tuesday. Picked it up last Friday and said they would have it back in one week. Now we have to wait until next Friday to get it because they ordered the wrong part. If I sucked this much at my job I'd be fired. How do you order the wrong part and it still takes more than a week to get another one? Will never use them again. read more

I first called Gormsen to come have a look at my circa 1980 Maytag washer that was doing the watusi across my laundry room floor and making a huge racket during the spin cycle. Jose (long time employee) came to have a look. He ended up replacing the lid switch that had been the cause of the intermittent on/off problem. He said the problem with the machine was not a balance issue within the machine itself because this particular model was made before they started using weights around the tub to keep it steady. He told me the shaking and noise was due to the floor itself. That room was originally with a sloped cement floor that we had covered with a raised, plywood flooring back 11 years ago. The flooring had lost it's stability and needed to be reinforced. I just couldn't wrap my head around this idea. I was sure there was something going on other than the floor. I was having some other work done and so I asked my handyman what he thought was the problem. He was convinced it was the machine itself that needed to be repaired. I had also reached out to another appliance repair man who agreed with my handyman. I called Axle, the owner of Gormsen Appliance and he came out that same day to check on this situation. He agreed with Jose that indeed the unstable flooring was the culprit. I was not convinced, but I thought I would try a few of the make-shift remedies that I was told about. When none of those "easy fix" remedies worked, I called back and spoke with Axle again. This time we made an appointment for a couple of weeks into the future to have him come out and drag the machine out onto the concrete so that he could let me see that if the machine was on a solid surface there would be no problem. Yesterday morning, Saturday, Axle and Jose showed up at our appointed time to meet and did what they said they would do. Once the machine was out on the level cement drive-way, when we ran a very heavy blanket/comforter thru the wash, rinse and spin cycle, it ran as smoothly and quietly as it once had when I first got the machine, 11 years ago. The guys from Gormsen Appliance removed all doubt as to what was causing the problem and they did it at "no charge", other than the cost for the initial service call. I was truly impressed with their level of integrity and professionalism. Without a doubt, Gormsen's will be the only appliance repair guys I would ever call for any appliance issue. read more

Fast, friendly, honest. Gormsen is great! Gormsen has repaired my 80s vintage Maytag washer and dryer before, so when my dryer started making scary loud thunking noises, I called them again. I was able to get an appointment the same day, and right on time Jose showed up. He listen to the dryer for a second, said, "Sound like the blower," and got right to work. Less than 20 minutes later, he had replaced the blower and the dryer was running like a champ. Since he had the parts he needed with him, I didn't have to wait for a part. He showed me how the spindle on the old blower had worn down. I signed off on the work order and he was off. The dryer runs great, he left it cleaner than it was when he started, and the price was fair. $65 for the service call, $22 for the part, and $22 for the labor. I just hope Jose never retires, because he's definitely the Dryer Whisperer. read more

Do not do business with this company. They are untrustworthy and do not honor their agreements and commitments. I purchased a washer and dryer with a 7-year warranty. Immediately the dryer was not working and would not dry clothes. They replaced the part, but it started having the same issue again. After multiple attempts that took weeks for them to come back out, they were not able to resolve the issue. Now they need to replace the dryer as it is clearly a non-operable machine they cannot fix. They will not return my calls. Kai has been avoiding me for over a month after claiming he would resolve it with the distributor to replace it per the warranty. No one else will help when I call claiming it has to be him. He has been non-responsive for over a month while I suffer without a working dryer. This is a completely unacceptable and dishonest way to do business. I've contacted the distributor and they referred me back to Gormsen. Honor your agreements and stop giving me the run-around. You've cost me an excessive amount of time and money. read more
