I believe this place doesn't have the best wrap. Is it expensive? Yes (The recent raise in prices made me want to cry). Is it an "authentic" New York bagel? No clue, I have never had one. The only thing I can compare it to are the bagels at Einsteins and Noah's I ate while growing up (which I am quite fond of!!) that the ride-or-die New York bagel lover would scorn. Honestly, though? I like this place. Yeah, the online ordering can be inconvenient if you don't know about it (make note of this if you go on the weekend!!! It could take more than an hour). Amazing bagels! Highly recommend trying this place out! I ordered a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese and the bagel itself did not disappoint. However, I did not enjoy my chai latte. I was also confused by the pickup process as I received a pickup time and arrived a few minutes after that, but I still had to wait 10 more minutes to get my bagel and latte. It took about 35 minutes from the time I ordered, which seemed excessive. However I did appreciate having a place to eat inside and I did think the bagel was fabulous, so I will be back! This is my second review for Gotham. Apparently I was given wrong information when I went the first time, and they were still open. Not sure who was right, so double check their hours if you go. We both got the lox and cream cheese sandwich on the everything bagel. I thought mine was delicious with plenty of lox, cream cheese, capers and red onion. He thought there was way too much cream cheese and scraped about half of it off. Beverage options are limited. Moving to Chicago from NYC, it's been tough finding good bagels, but Gotham has become a regular spot for us. The bread is so chewy and flavorful and the scallion cream cheese is a must, a little goes a long way too, which is different from the gobs used in NYC bagels, but just as good in my opinion. Yes. I'm a bae-gel kind of gal. A @gothambagelschi gal. Order online and pick up your delicious order. Not only do they have delicious Bagels, but they have awesome sandwiches also. We had a half dozen bagels, 2 each plain, 2 each of egg and 2 each of cinnamon raisin. All were fresh and delicious even a couple of days later. Look  at this delicious Bagel lox and cream cheese sandwich that we ordered.  All of their sandwiches come with a Gotham's finest pickle. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, it was very hard to choose. You have your choice of spreads either plain, vegan plain, scallion, vegan scallion, brown butter, or honey cherry tart. Next time I'm going to get an OMFG sandwich. It consists of a fried egg, aged cheddar, Nashville fried chicken, thick-cut bacon, spicy aioli and Gotham's finest pickle. Gotham bagels is my favorite bagel place in Chicago. They're operating out of the back pickup window of Eduardo's (which is also a fav stop for me, make sure to check out the Italian restaurant!). Ordering is online only takeout only, but after setting up my payment info it's a breeze to put my order in at home and skip the wait. Their everything mix is great, and love that they have egg bagels and egg everything. There's a very generous coating of topping on both sides of the bagel. The cream cheese tastes different than the usual super creamy Philadelphia-type typical in bagel shops so I assume they either make it themselves or use a different base. There's a bit of texture to it and it's packed with their add-ins. They give you a monster amount of cream cheese which does end up being a bit of a mess with how firm the bagels are but totally delicious. They sometimes run out of bagels in the afternoons. I struggled on the 5 vs 4 star because I seriously couldn't bring myself to 5-star a place where prices were so absurd. I think when it first opened a regular bagel with cream cheese was north of $6+, which was crazy! Things have gotten a little cheaper since they established themselves, but $5 is still a bit steep imo. Regardless, I find myself going back constantly and forking over the dough for the dough, so what can I say? read more

First things first: This is the absolute best bagel west of the Delaware River, and rivals some of the best bagels back home in New Jersey and NYC. They nailed that perfect texture, the crispy outside and the soft, chewy inside. Just the right amount of salt in the dough, and great seasoning on the outside. I'm an extremely harsh critic when it comes to bagels and pizzas, but I can't lie. this is tremendous. Their (I assume) housemade cream cheese is just as good, full of flavor and well beyond the usual store brand cream cheese you usually get at a bagel shop. So, why not five stars? The prices are outrageous. One bagel costs $3.25. A bagel with cream cheese costs $6.25. And it goes on from there. I want to make a joke that those are Manhattan prices, but not even the great Ess-a-Bagel in the heart of midtown charges more than $3.50 for a bagel with cream cheese. I want to go back, I really do. This is the best bagel I have ever had outside of NJ and NY. But, at these prices, I'm just not sure how I can rationalize it. read more

The bagels here are fantastic and while I wouldn't classify them as classic NYC bagels, they are very flavorful and very fresh. While the bagels are good, ordering procedures need to be fixed. I had to cancel my order because it took so long (60 minutes+) and was only an order of a half dozen bagels and cream cheese. I understand hiring is a challenge and with a small space it is hard to manage but there are many other bagel places that get orders out at a reasonable time. Please look to them to optimize.
