While I was at Ferry building, I stopped by for a quick soft serve. I was really there for their legendary Double 8 water buffalo soft serve. Unfortunately they no longer serve. Instead of that, now they have Valley Ford soft serve, which is from Jersey cow. I read online that Jersey cow milk is creamier than a normal cow's milk, but less creamier than water buffalo milk. I went for Fior de Latte and Salted caramel. Both where creamy. I liked salted caramel a bit more. As I never had Double 8 version, I cannot compare with the water buffalo version.
A solid place to stop for some soft serve ice cream if you're craving it. There's usually a long line here, competing with the ice cream shop next to it, but I don't think I would wait in a super long line for soft serve. I would only go here if the line is reasonable or short. The servers have to work really quickly to get through so many orders so make sure you know what you want to get before getting to the front of the line. My partner and I shared a medium cup of the latte flavor. It wasn't full to the brim, but I think it was definitely bigger than the small size cup. The medium size was big enough for 2 to share. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor - it was a little too sweet for me. But the soft serve itself was really nice and creamy, and I could clearly tell it was made with high quality ingredients. I think I would come back here only on a slow day, and maybe try other flavors on the menu.
Soft serve here is delicious! Pretty sure it's Strauss ice cream (yum)! Love that Gotts has a takeout window with cookies and soft serve. Makes for a great dessert after dinner in the ferry building
Located outside the Chase Center, this place is ideal for a savory meal and beer before a Golden State Warriors game. I highly recommend a bacon cheeseburger with all the toppings! Add crunchy onions or garlic fries. They have a huge outdoor area, serving beers and wine, but can't beat their strawberry shake.
I hope this is the ice cream place because it was really yummy. It really was soft and the taste with rootbeer is hard to beat. I wish they did let me pick the flavor because my friend got the fior de latte and i really think that it would go well in my rootbeer floats. The best part is that the line is so much shorter than humprey and the flavor is still really good
My kids were craving ice cream after being 'dragged through the city all day' (as they would probably describe it) so we thought we'd check out Gott's as it had a shorter line than the other ice cream stall right next door. They have a very minimal menu selection, but what they make is well done. It was tasty and rich but also light and refreshing. My kids enjoyed the vanilla. Personally, I wish there was a bit more options. I also wish it was a slightly cheaper product. But you're also in an incredibly touristy area so I'm not surprised. In all, the boys loved it. My wife & I just opted to skip getting our own knowing we could get something cheaper elsewhere & just snuck some 'parent tax' from our kids.
Maybe the best soft serve chocolate I've ever had. The Fior di Latte is something special too and the cherry dip paired with it is great. Last time we got the floats which were fantastic too!
Walked to the ferry building on my birthday. Gotta was just opening at 11 and we decided to get some, we both got the salted caramel ice cream in waffle cone. Service was super quick took 2 minutes to get ice cream. It was very tasty, haven't tried this flavor of ice cream before but it was surprisingly good. They had multiple milk options for the cream. We usually come here for the great burgers, fries and shakes. Today, we were eating at an in between time (3:45) before a basket ball game at Chase Center. We each had an order of tacos-- 3 small hard shell tacos that are mainly lettuce or cabbage. My friend had fish tacos and I had the ahi poke tacos. I'm allergic to eggs, so ordered the tacos without the spicy mayo. The tacos definitely needed the mayo. Fresh food in a great location.
Ice cream is good. Not amazing but good. Portion size? Just get the small. The medium (in picture) is the same amount just a slightly bigger cup and not filled. That was a rip off. I said something and the staff pointed out the small cup was smaller. Obviously they didn't really care and it wasn't worth the extra. So buy a small since that's all your getting. Toppings are extra. Vanilla is the best flavor. Could they improve? Not if the owners teach staff what I experienced. I wasn't rude and didn't expect much, but as my medium sat next to a small and a cone had more ice cream than both. Oy! The Malasadas next to this place looked way better and more tasty! And you get 4!!
Gott's is probably my favorite burger in SF! It's reliable and they have quite a few options. I also like their fries and soft serve. Service is always good and they have a lot of seating. It's so fun! Good for groups.
Walked by and decided to grab a treat. Their vanilla soft serve is so creamy and rich. I would highly recommend coming here if you want quality soft serve.
I was visiting The City and we exited BART and walked around the Ferry Building before heading to our actual destination. Wanting to grab a nice dessert, I saw this stand and wanted to give it a try. The line was not too long and I was helped right away. They had a rotating flavors of 6 different soft serves, but I opted for the classic vanilla and chocolate swirl. The soft serve itself was very creamy and sweet. I had it in a waffle coned topped with sprinkles. This really reminded me of my early childhood, enjoying a nice frozen treat (despite it always being cool in San Francisco). The soft serve held its shape rather well and did not melt quickly. The sprinkles are there for texture for me and to give a nice complement to my cone. Overall, a rather enjoyable treat to have. I can see myself coming back here again. read more
Solid soft serve. My boyfriend rates it a 7.5/10 while i rate it a 7/10. The vanilla flavor is great and the soft serve had a smooth texture/consistency. I'd say it's kind of expensive if you compare to other places you can get soft serve, but it really hit the spot. I try not to consider price in my food ratings up to a certain threshold. While the cost is a tad more than you might want to pay, I think it's reasonable after looking at the different flavors and toppings they offer. It's also fast service and a super convenient sweet treat. The stand is inside the ferry building on one of the far ends. The perfect treat for your soft serve cravings. read more

2.75 stars. I was torn between my absolute favorite, Humphrey Slocombe, & Gott's Soft Serve, which I had never before tried. Curiosity killed the cat as I lined up at Gott's takeout counter. The soft serve flavors are limited to Vanilla, Dutch Chocolate, non-dairy versions of the aforementioned, Fior di Latte, & Salted Caramel. In hindsight, I should've gotten a swirl because while the Fior di Latte ($5.29) was rich & creamy, flavor was on the light side. My server asked if I wanted it "dipped," which I thought was odd, as I had ordered a cup instead of cone. I chose a cherry dip (+$1.39) which was topped onto a meager portion of soft serve that did not fill half the medium cup. The consistency was waxy & not especially reminiscent of cherry. The Orange Cream Float ($6.29) unfortunately was no better. Needed a bit more syrup to fully get that good orange taste but the soda was weak & watery. Next time, I'll stick to my guy, Humphrey. read more
This place was good. There were tons of different burger types as well as an extensive beer list. I got a delicious burger with bacon and special sauce and my friend got the California burger with avocado and a fried egg. The fries were good, not the best ever but good. The service was friendly and fast. It was easy to order at the window and pick up at a different window. We got to sit outside the front of the Pier and it was nice to enjoy the beautiful weather and just watch the coming and goings outside. read more
Came upon this little soft serve ice cream shop by chance while visiting the Pier. I got the fior di latte and hubby got salted caramel. The soft serve was so creamy and smooth, I dare say the texture is inconceivable. No ice crystals at all. The fior di latte had a rich milk flavor, and mildly sweet. The salted caramel was also well balanced and not too overpowering. I think this soft serve ruined me for all other soft serves. The bar has been set very high. Flavors were limited to about 6, but it doesn't matter if you can do each of them well! Service was quick and prices were fair. Would definitely come back to try the other flavors. read more
With the huge OATLY sign I thought they only had oat soft serve, but they also have QUALITY DAIRY like Straus milk (vanilla, chocolate) and Double 8 Dairy (fior di latte, caramel). I sampled both Straus vanilla and Double 8 Fior di latte - so creamy and milky!! I loved Fior di Latte for just a beautiful dairy forward flavor, it was a bit too sweet. Straus vanilla tasted classic. Wish I could get both in a cup haha. Oatly soft serve was good too! I LOVE oat milk but do not like the flavor of their pints. But in soft serve form, in both vanilla and chocolate, it's creamy and quite delicious. It tastes a bit like tofu, which is interesting! Honestly I might pick this place over Humphry Slocombe if I am feeling something super smooth, creamy, and milky. read more
simply delicious!!! no wonder there are so many songs in the ferry building pointing to Gott's soft serve window. service is quick and there are both indoor and outdoor tables. we got both the chocolate and vanilla soft serve, and i opted for the oreo crumble topping. this was wonderful, but not mind-blowing. it tasted very much like a textbook-definition of vanilla ice cream, and the oreo chunks added a nice layer of texture to each bite. if you're craving some soft serve, gott's will satisfy it! read more

Gott's provide an alternative ice cream dessert for those who may want to avoid dairy. Although Gott's offers oat ice cream (no dairy), I couldn't pass on the salted caramel and for di latte swirl. There's option to get it in a cub, cone, or waffle cone, and I opted for the waffle cone. The salted caramel mixed with the for di latte was the perfect blend since 100% salted caramel may have been too much for me. It was thick and creamy, fresh, and very enjoyable. This is definitely a competitor to the other ice cream stand just across the ferry building hall. The difference here is be mindful it is soft serve, so be sure to consume it quickly before it melts in your hands. read more

I love soft serve and Gott's Soft Serve served some of the best I've had in recent memory. I got the Double 8 Fior di Latte soft serve in a medium (6 oz) cup ($4.99) with rainbow sprinkles (+$1.29). It was phenomenal. "Double 8" refers to Double 8 Dairy, one of only two water buffalo dairy farms in California. They're located in Sonoma County. This sweet and creamy Fior di Latte soft serve from Gott's was perfect in both taste and texture. Heck, even the rainbow sprinkles tasted good (above average). Overall, the quality was top-notch. During our visit, the menu was simple with only six soft serve flavors. Those flavors included Vanilla and Dutch Chocolate made with Straus Family Creamery organic milk. Like Double 8, Straus farms are based in Sonoma County, as well as Marin County. The menu also had non-dairy soft serve made with Oatly oat milk. That's what my brother-in-law got, Oatly Chocolate soft serve (medium 6 oz for $4.99) in a waffle cone (+$0.99). Others in our group got the Straus Dutch Chocolate (small 4 oz for $3.99) in a cake cone (no additional charge) with rainbow sprinkles (+$1.29), Straus Vanilla (small 4 oz for $3.99) in a cake cone with rainbow sprinkles (+$1.29), and a combo of Double 8 Fior Di Latte and Double 8 Salted Caramel (small 4 oz for $3.99) in a cake cone with almonds (+$1.29). Yes, you can mix flavors here even though the menu doesn't state it. Everyone loved what they got. Gott's also offers sauces/dips (e.g., chocolate, butterscotch; priced the same as toppings at $1.29 each) and floats ($5.99 each) too. Service was good, from our cashier Giovanni B to the rest of the staff. They were polite and efficient. The line moved fast. Gott's is called "Gott's Roadside" because it started as a roadside restaurant in Napa Valley in 1999. The brand has since expanded to include several locations in the Bay Area including the restaurant and this soft serve counter at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. It opened in 2004. This Yelp listing, which is called "Gott's Roadside - Takeout Window" at the time of writing this review, was created in January 2014 (I think). During our 2023 visit, the storefront said "Gott's Soft Serve" and this counter only served soft serve. Maybe they served burgers and fries in the past. Perhaps this Yelp listing should be renamed to "Gott's Soft Serve," but I'm too lazy to do it and my suggested changes (business info edits) to Yelp over the years have been hit or miss. My go to for a quick, sweet pick me up in the Ferry Building. I like how creamy their soft serve is and they always offer a decent amount of toppings. Service is usually pretty quick even if there's a line. You can also ask for samples before deciding on what you want. read more

It's very family friendly and great for lunch. In my opinion, the service is quite slow. The chicken tenders were breaded in almost a panko which gave it such a yummy crust. The kale caesar was so refreshing and perfectly dressed. I loved the garlic fries, they were coated in a garlic parsley butter. read more
Go here if Humphey's is swamped. They have less flavors, but the ice cream is still great and will solve your ice cream fix, no-problem. Gotts usually has more people manning the machines, so the line goes faster too. They also offer two types of cones: actual cone-shaped and a flat base cone. I also love their dipped add-on which you can get, where they'll dunk your ice cream in a hard-shell coating of something of your choice! read more

While visiting San Francisco and wandering around the city, I popped in the Ferry Building and was delighted to find dairy-free soft serve!! You just order at the window so I can't speak to the ambience, but the service was good and line moved quickly. It was so good, I went back every day we were in San Francisco (and I am not ashamed!) read more
