Delicious ice cream with unique flavors in the ferry building that is open late! They also let you sample the flavors. The three scoop is the best deal. There's usually a line during the weekend, but service is very fast. There's no place to sit at the restaurant, but plenty of open space in ferry building. Really like the honey graham flavor.

I have been to ferry building and pruneyard many times but didn't get to try this icecream before! Finally got a double scoop cup from the ferry building location this past weekend! They were out of most of the popular flavors, but GOAT and Lavender Crumble flavors were still available. We got a double scoop (one of GOAT and one Lavender Crumble).. and both were mind blowing, grainy cheesy texture, pefect blend of cheese (goat cheese and olive oil in the GOAT one, and mascarpone cheese in the other one). This was sooo yum!! It was sunday late evening and most of the ferry building shops were closing, so lines were small and service was fast! Worth a try!! Will come back to try other flavors! I am sure they will have seasonal flavors too!

This is a great little spot in the ferry building. Many interesting flavors to choose from. I had the bourbon, cornflake and peanut butter fudge ice cream. The bourbon cornflake was great flavor. The corn flakes were a little interesting not necessarily soggy, but not crispy in the ice cream so kind of a weird texture. I would've just been happy just with the bourbon ice cream itself. The peanut butter fudge was amazing and the scoops are large so be prepared. The staff is very accommodating if you want to sample flavors prior to purchasing. Would definitely stop by again.

You can't walk the Embarcadero without eventually being lured into the Ferry Building for a scoop of Humphry Slocombe. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they stay open until 10 PM on weekends, the perfect timing for a late-night dessert fix while strolling by the pier. I'm a huge fan of their rotating weekly specials, and the Berry Kouign Amann immediately caught my eye. If you love the pastry, you'll appreciate this: somehow, the Kouign Amann pieces managed to stay flaky and buttery even while submerged in the ice cream. The berries added a lovely, bright freshness that balanced the richness. It is definitely a "decadent" scoop a bit on the sweeter side for me, so I couldn't quite finish the whole thing but the quality is undeniable. The service was great, you can get samples before picking a flavor.

Came to this spot after having lunch nearby and I am so glad I did. My colleague said this is an amazing spot and the breakfast surprise is to die for. Which, it really is. Reminded me a bit of a cereal and milk, but with a twinge of something else I couldn't put my taste on. Definitely amazing and worth it.

First time trying the famous Humphrey Slocombe, and it did not disappoint. I got the cereal, milk, ice cream, scoop, and while it was very sweet, maybe even too sweet, I finished the whole thing. I need to come back and try more flavors. We sat in the ferry building, since there was ample seating. Since we came in the evening, the line was long, but the workers worked fast.

Delicious and continues to deliver year after year. I love the secret breakfast flavor with bourbon caramel. The special Sunday's are great, too.

I ordered a fudge sundae delight with a scoop of peanut butter fudge ripple. Loved the warm, small pieces of brownies included with this. The ice cream was not too heavy on the peanut butter taste with a slight hint of fudge. Convenient place to grab some ice cream. There was a line but I was in and out in under 5 minutes. Pretty fast service.

We walked by and saw the secret breakfast and we were like we gotta figure out the secret. The secret was that this was one of the greatest scoops of cream I've ever had. So delicious, right amount of creaminess and sweetness and that corn flake nostalgia that invokes those 7 AM milk and cereal before school vibes. Ratatouille adjacent. Worker was kinda mean though :(

I finally did it. I finally stood in the super long line to try the secret breakfast at Humphry (...and I may have also indulged in an Oreo s'mores sundae with their malted chocolate as well). The great news is, each item was 100% worth eating an entire week's worth of sugar in a sitting, and the time spent in line. We only live once right?! It's difficult to define what separates good from great ice cream. Both good and great are decadent, smooth, and bursting with flavor (imo, fresh textures too). For me, the difference is in the luxury of the product. That being said if you're looking for a sweet treat that will satisfy all of the above, plus capture luscious textures and flavors you'll crave for the next week, you have to save room for Humphrys! Fruit, milk, chocolate, and tang, lovers unite. Whatever you choose, it'll be divine.

Located in SF ferry building, Humphry's is the perfect spot to get some ice cream after a meal or just because! Some of their original popular flavors are secret breakfast (has some booze and cornflakes for texture) and their super flavorful Vietnamese coffee. In the past I used to get their Harvey milk n honey graham with brown butter which had a nice graham cracker crumble. My 2 new fave flavors are matcha cookies and cream (ton of Oreos) and lavender crumble. I love the sweet salty flavors and textures I get with each bite. Also their waffle cones were being freshly made and couldn't resist pairing it with my double scoop. Happy and stuffed camper - good thing all we can do is walk around!

First time visiting Humphry Slocombe in the Ferry Building! I sampled several flavors and decided on Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple and Vietnamese Coffee. Both were delicious and yummy!

Always a long line, located at a very touristy place of Ferry Building at SF. They have some special menu which attracted me every time I visited the place. Pink Jesus - rasberry ice cream is quite refreshing, it's a bit of sourly and texture like sherbet. Tahitian vanilla is great too, a bit overly sweet. Earl grey tea & cake - not my favorite, lack of tea taste and too much of cake chunks. The thing I like the most is - they let you sample the ice cream and decide what you want.

There is no seating located in this particular cafe but plenty of outdoor seating directly outside. The general area can be pretty crowded due to the other store fronts within the mall so if you want a more relaxed matcha tea shop to do work or relax it would be better to order and then leave. Service: They have both a kiosk and a barista taking orders. Staff were friendly and working efficiently and quickly to fill the orders as they were being placed. Wait time: Generally depends on when you go since Japantown mall is a heavily toured area by locals and visitors to the Bay Area but I'd say roughly 10-15 minutes max from standing in line to receiving your drink. Food: The matcha ice cream has a deep matcha flavor with a nice concentration of powder which can be tasted in the soft serve. They also top the soft serve with a light dusting of matcha powder to further enhance the flavors. The cone was soft and light with a gentle sweetness that pairs really well against with the earthiness of the matcha.

Overall, I thought it was good. Not something that completely amazed me, but definitely worth trying if you already enjoy matcha desserts. The biggest strength here is definitely the matcha flavor itself. A lot of matcha desserts nowadays are overly sweet to the point where you can barely taste the tea anymore, but here you can still clearly taste the earthy matcha flavor with a slight bitterness that makes it feel more authentic. The sweetness level was balanced well, so it never became overwhelming or too heavy by the end. If you prefer Japanese-style matcha flavors that actually taste like tea instead of pure sugar, you'll probably appreciate this place more than many trendy dessert spots. I tried one of their matcha soft serve items, and the texture was smooth and creamy without feeling overly rich. The matcha flavor stayed noticeable from the first bite all the way to the end instead of fading away after a few spoonfuls. Everything paired together nicely, and overall it felt like a lighter, more refreshing dessert. Especially after eating ramen or heavier food nearby in Japantown, it was actually a pretty nice way to finish the meal. The shop itself is fairly small, but clean and simple, with the typical Japantown dessert shop atmosphere. It feels more like a quick stop for dessert while walking around rather than a café where you sit for hours, but it fits the neighborhood well. The location is also super convenient if you're already shopping or exploring Japantown. Overall, I'd say it's a solid and reliable matcha dessert place. The matcha flavor is definitely there, and the quality feels consistent, but it wasn't something so incredible that I'd make a special trip just for it. Still, if you already like matcha or happen to be in Japantown, I think it's definitely worth stopping by and trying once.
