Persian ice cream in chocolate chip cookie cup.
    Ree T.

I got the Persian ice cream and it was really good - there was saffron and pistachio in it - great combo! Ice cream was flavorful without being too sweet. I did get the cookie cup, which I'm not sure I'd do again. The crust was on the harder side (I like soft and gooey cookies). Price was reasonable too. There is seating in the way back if you'd like to sit/rest.

If I lived here I would make this MY. SPOT. The cookie is amazing and the ice cream equals if not goes beyond expectation. I'm obsessed and will be going back for a shirt or tote. I am over the moon about this place!

You know an ice cream is good when there's a line after dinner time! I originally wanted to try the fresh cookie cup, but they didn't have any when I went. It was on the menu, but I couldn't tell if they were sold out or just didn't offer it anymore. I ended up getting a chocolate peanut butter scoop ($5), which was super creamy and a good amount of peanut butter. It was a bit on the sweeter side for me, but still solid. One of my friends is allergic to egg and this place offers a lot of egg-free flavors which is a perk!

Super tasty! I got one of the cheesecake ones and it was really enjoyable. There's a little bit of seating in the back if you want to sit and eat. It's also nice that they let you try as many ice cream as you'd like! A perfect dessert spot for a late night treat!

I don't have much to say aside from the honey lavender flavor is amazing. It is just the right amount of sweetness, and has such a nice aroma, I would come back just to order a pint for home. Over the Moon is located along many other restaurants, perfect for dessert right after you finish dinner somewhere else.

Second time going here and a little disappointed that they didn't have the ginger ice cream anymore. Especially because this was the only place that I know of that had ginger ice cream and it was SO good. The quality of the ice cream is really good too because it is very creamy. They have pretty unique flavors, which I do appreciate in an ice cream shop. But they should make the ginger ice cream a full time thing

Cookie Monster (right) and Root Beer (left) flavors in a single scoop

Came here on a weekend night in the Marina District, and loved the blue and white theme of this small little ice cream shop! In the front of the hallway/walkway is the place to get your ice cream and cookie. I settled on a single scoop for the night, consisting of the Cookie Monster and Root Beer flavors. After ordering my friend and I sat in their small back area that can probably seat around 10 people. I liked the contrast in the flavors that I chose; the root beer flavor was strong and was able to mimic that aftertaste sparkle you usually have when you drink soda. The cookie monster flavor was sweet and had fun chocolate chunks in the colorful scoop. There's many unique flavors they have, more than a dozen that I'd love to try in the future!

Probably one of my favorite ice cream spots in SF! The amount you get isn't overwhelming and the flavors are all so good! I love going here for the cookies as well! Such a nice after dinner treat!

Got an ice cream sandwich with their house cookies and ice cream $8 - cookies and cream cookies with earl grey ice cream. The earl grey was yummy and I wish it could be stronger. The cookies were just okay, too fluffy and not enough cookie bits. Very nice staff who helped us just before closing.

We stopped by for something sweet. We had some strawberry ice cream in a purple cone and it was delicious. They had plenty of seating for us in their establishment and they served us right away. They had merchandise with their company available for purchase and cute accessories. It was a cute dessert spot and I love this area to walk around and shop.

gets pretty busy and there are limited seating! we tried the drumstick ice cream cookie sandwich (peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, cookies & cream cookie) ($8) and a single scoop of caramel cookie dough ice cream ($5). the drumstick flavor was pretty interesting! and all the ice cream flavors tasted very much like the flavor name, no surprises. the cookies were a bit chunky for an ice cream sandwich, but they were toasted and warm which was nice

Stopped by on my way home to the Sunset from the Financial District, looking for a little pick-me-up after my mid-dinner. I'm a simple man--I love vanilla ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. This place does both, and the idea of a freshly baked cookie shaped into a cup to hold my scoop of ice cream was genius. The setup is straightforward: street parking, order at the ice cream display case, and pay at the kiosk. The gentleman working inside was very kind and welcoming, offering samples of their flavors before customers commit. As soon as I saw the vanilla bean seeds in the vanilla ice cream, I knew I had to get it. He was also proud to mention that everything, including the cookies, is made fresh in-house--that level of care makes a big difference. The shop has a bright and inviting atmosphere with a clean, modern design. The seating near the front provides a nice spot to enjoy your treat, and there's outdoor seating as well for those who prefer fresh air. Along the walls, they display tubs of their flavors in large refrigerator, and they also have merch for sale. Prices are fair for the quality and location. A simple yet well-executed concept with top-notch ingredients and great service. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to come back again and again.

The dessert version of a bread bowl is an edible ice cream cup. In this case, it's cookies. They have limited flavors of cookie cups aside from the cookies, which the friendly worker listed for anyone ordering a cookie item. I opted for the chocolate chip cookie cup, which had an unexpected hint of cinnamon and sea salt. For ice cream I got Nutella banana which I got to sample beforehand. It had that real banana flavor and not artificial like a candy taste. The Nutella flavor is light and compliments the banana well. My only complaint is the texture is very chalky. The more you have it, the more present it is. I'm not sure what causes this and if it's present in other flavors. It's a bit distracting and makes the eating experience a bit unpleasant.

I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

Their Hotplate drop every Tuesday at 12PM is literally a war zone, reminding me of trying to get VIP concert tickets on Ticketmaster. And sadly, I haven't been able to score another box since then but oh well, at least I won once lol. I came during my pickup window and there was already a line out the door, maybe 10-12 people. I've heard it can wrap around the block, so honestly this wasn't too bad. The bakery itself in this adorable white and pink building, with cute window details, and neon cake sign. Pre-orders can skip the line, so I went straight inside to collect my little box of victory. My small box came with four pastries: Twice Baked Bourbon Peaches & Cream, Cheesy Ratatouille, Mocha Graham Butterscotch Cruffin, and Strawberry Vanilla Bun. And I gotta be honest, I loved them ALL. The Bourbon Peaches & Cream was heavenly. The pastry was perfectly buttery and flaky, while the cream and filling were rich and smooth. Easily one of my favorites. I'm normally not a cheesy vegetable savory pastry person, but I had to try the Cheesy Ratatouille for the plot lol, and surprisingly it was delicious. The veggies were cooked just right and the combination of cheeses was phenomenal. Strawberry Vanilla Bun was a classic that couldn't go wrong, fresh strawberries, delicious cream, simple and so good. Sadly, I saved the Mocha Graham Butterscotch Cruffin for the next day and all that generous filling made it pretty soggy. It still tasted good, but the cruffin had lost that crispy, flaky texture. That's on me though, so I definitely need a redemption round in the future. Overall, Butter & Crumble is absolutely worth the hype AND the Tuesday 12PM battle. Hopefully one day I can win the war again because there are so many other pastries I still want to try!

Pineapple King Bakery is a takeout suite in the Outer Sunset district. There was no available seating inside or outside. You can save time by preordering online and then coming by to pick up your goodies. Parking was really tough in this area with all of the curbside metered spots occupied. The line wasn't too bad when I stopped by on a weekend afternoon. Posters showing some of the different products were placed on the front windows along with a copy of the menu. You ordered at the service counter that was just a few feet inside the front entrance. Several of the baked goods were on display inside the glass case underneath the counter. A larger menu board hung behind the counter. You could see the army of workers busy in the kitchen preparing different items. Pineapple buns/puffs (bolo baos) of multiple varieties were the stars of the show. Buns with other fillings like BBQ pork, hot dog, coconut cream, etc were also available. Egg tarts, some pastries, and drinks (e.g. milk tea) rounded out the main categories. Combo boxes allowed for larger quantities to be purchased. Coming from the southern most part of this state, we don't have anywhere near the choices for pineapple buns like they have here. I purchased a Deluxe Box to give as a gift for my relatives. It consisted of four mini pineapple buns... Original Pineapple Puff, Matcha Pineapple Puff, Mango Pineapple Puff, Mini Pineapple Bun with butter. For myself, I bought a Pineapple Bun with guava butter, a BBQ Pork Pineapple Bun, and a Pineapple Bun with custard. The total for everything was less than twenty dollars, and the business accepted cash only. The pineapple buns had a milk bread base topped with a crackly, golden cookie-like crust. They were soft and of a decent size for the respective prices. The version with the guava butter was warmed up by the kitchen. They recommended that I consume it right away to appreciate the decadent butter. In hindsight, my only regret was not ordering at least one of the egg tart types to taste and compare to what's available in my hometown. I gave a 4.5 star rating for the products I sampled at Pineapple King Bakery and rounded up.

The pizza crust was thin and crispy - with just the right amount of chew - and tasted slightly of sourdough. Topping-wise, the mushrooms were abundant but not overpowering; however, I wish there had been other vegetables to balance out the flavor. Paying less than $5 for a generously-sized slice (adorned with a mini slice on top) felt like a bargain, especially in SF.
