Managing a party of 18 is no small task, and Sam made everything feel effortless. The Sangiovese Room was the perfect setting for such a special celebration, and Sam truly helped make our son's birthday dinner a memorable one for our entire family and group. Very disappointed with the service last night. We eventually walked out. It took the server over 30 minutes to come greet us. We told her we had just placed drink orders at the bar, had not been served or paid for them. The hostess advised to just let server know what we ordered and she could add to our bill and bring us the drinks. Server was very irritated and said she was going to speak with the hostess. Our server never came back to the table to give us any update of drinks or even take our appetizer order. After being at the restaurant for over 45 minutes with a reservation we decided it was time to leave. All guests around us were serviced quickly, even the ones that came in after us. Luckily we were able to be seated, order drinks, appetizers and dinner at another restaurant. We were in & out within an hour and had fantastic food & service. Good thing we left as the restaurant was too loud to enjoy anything and then on top of that, extremely poor service with an attitude. Very dissatisfied with Gourmet Italia last night. We went to this place as just casual dinner. We ordered the seafood pasta, but unfortunately there was a significant amount of sand in the noodles (our whole family tastes the sand at every bite). We immediately brought this to the staff's attention because we had not finished eating the dish. The manager brought us a replacement, but it consisted of only noodles without the seafood. Later, when the original dish was being taken away, the manager pointed to several mussel shells and implied that they had already been eaten (I was shocked about this behavior). However, those mussels were not empty. I showed him that they had not been touched and that we had not eaten them. What disappointed us most was not the mistake with the seafood, but the manager's attitude and the way he responded to our concern. He told us that the restaurant could not control the sand in the seafood. We understand that seafood can occasionally contain some sand, but we expected the situation to be handled with more understanding and professionalism. To be fair, our waitress was very apologetic and felt bad about what happened. She removed the pasta from our bill and offered us a complimentary tiramisu, which we appreciated and gave her proper tips. Unfortunately, the manager's response left us feeling as though we were being blamed for complaining about something we had actually experienced. We were not looking for anything unreasonable--we simply wanted our concern to be acknowledged and handled respectfully. The food issue was disappointing, but the manager's attitude was what made the experience particularly unpleasant. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and works on providing better customer service when handling legitimate complaints. read more

Wow this place is so delicious! First visit was yesterday for Valentine's Day and there was a set menu at $125 per person, we got a welcome glass of champagne and a rose and the whole meal was five courses. We had Samantha as our server and she was great, very friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed the server who came over to offer fresh Parmesan cheese and pepper for our food. I ordered a mocktail which was citrusy and fruity very delicious. My husband love his Cabernet wine too. For our starters we chose the ahi tuna and the crab risotto. Both were absolutely delicious, very flavorful and the risotto was warm and you could taste all the fresh ingredients. The salad was included for both is us and in my opinion was the best part of the five courses. The flavors were so beautifully incorporated and they went perfectly together. The chef outdid themselves with this salad. The next course was the raviolis. Both were so good! The lobster option was full of lobster meat and a beautiful sauce. The black truffle ravioli was warm and delicious I just loved it. The main entree of the roasted trumpet mushrooms was pretty good, they were super thick mushrooms almost thick like a steak and the sauces paired pretty well too. The halibut was amazing! Before ever tasting it, I could smell how fresh and clean and well cooked it was & when I ate it omg so good. The final course was the dessert. What a beautiful Italian restaurant in Temecula. This is my first visit at Gourmet Italia for a Friendsgiving with San Diego Yelpers. There were 12 of us. Thanks Janet T for the lovely evening. Ordered: Spaghetti Amatriciana-Pancetta and onion in a spicy marinara sauce Soda I substitute Pancetta with Chicken. It was charged extra to replace the meat. They served complimentary bread with dipping sauce. The pasta was flavorful and delicious. I added crushed peppers to kick up the knot. Tiramisu was absolutely delicious with a perfect sweetness. Both the owner and server, Jeremy, were super amazing and welcoming! Before heading out for the evening, there was beautiful band playing for the night at the bar area. Highly recommend this place. Came here to have dinner with a reservation at 715. Got seated at 720. The hostess had a rude demeanor. Although it took 20 mins for the waitress to get our orders. She was a good server. Excellent memory, very polite. Our food took 1 HOUR to be served. I ordered the halibut on the special menu. The halibut wasn't anything special. It had an uneven sear and it cost $50! Not worth the hour wait. It was Seasoned well. And the sauce was decent. veggies were a little overcooked. But overall not worth the price. It also took 20 mins for the check to arrive. They had live entertainment as far as the ambiance goes. The live entertainment deserves 5 stars. After day of wine tasting, our family were in the mood for Italian. Finding this restaurant nearby on Yelp was a godsend. We called ahead for reservation, and they were able to accommodate our large party of 12. The place itself was very nice and classy with white tablecloth, dim and intimate lighting. We got seated in back section of restaurant and had our own private room. Our family can get a little loud when we are all together, so this was perfect setup. I thought service was a little slow in the beginning, but soon as we ordered and got our food, everything was fine. Staff were friendly and welcoming. For appetizers, Calamari Fritti was fresh and perfectly prepared, paired well with the marinara sauce. The Cozze e Patatine (mussels in white wine garlic sauce) was delicious and comforting. Though the crispy fries were nice, I would have preferred bread with it for soaking up the delicious broth. Both Bruschetta alla Siciliana and Carpaccio di Bue were solid dishes and on point as well. Their beet salad was really refreshing. Candied walnuts, blue cheese and Balsamic vinegar do wonders for salad. As for entrees, we got the special Seafood Pescatore and it was amazing. Kind of reminds me of cioppino, but with less sauce. The delicious ensemble consisted of shrimp, mussels, calamari, and clams. The Tomahawk special was excellent and cooked to perfection. It was served on a huge cutting board with mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms and vegetables. Everyone enjoyed the Ziti baked with bolognese sauce (Pasta al Forno della Zia al Sugo di Carne) and Capellini alla Checca (spaghetti pasta - Fresh tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, and Poggio Leano Olive Oil). We had Spumoni bomba and Pistachio Profiteroles for dessert. Both had ice cream in them and was perfect way to cap off our evening. I've never been to Italy, but I imagine this is as close as it gets. I can easily say Gourmet Italia is the best Italian restaurant I've been to. The menu is simple and pasta is featured heavily, which only makes every dish that much better. If I lived closer I would make it a goal to try every single offering. The first time my wife and I went there was 20 years ago. At the time, it was a tiny restaurant in a strip mall. While it's still in the strip mall it has expanded, but it's just as busy and just as good as it was 20 years ago. Although we go to Temecula often, it's not easy to get reservations at Gourmet Italia. This past weekend I was lucky to get one. I ended up getting both specials, an amazing butternut squash soup that was perfectly creamy and sweet, as well as a healthy portion of seafood pasta with massive amounts of mussels, clams, squid, and a jumbo prawn. I was so stuffed I didn't even have room for dessert. To be honest, my wife's spaghetti with pancetta may have been the best thing I tasted that night. If you live within an hour of Temecula, or are visiting, you need to make a reservation at Gourmet Italia. I can't wait till my next visit. BTW, 20 years ago the owner made our experience amazing with his enthusiasm and clear love for his restaurant. He still does, with a little less hair on his head, but he is still amazing. The place is high class, but also warm and welcoming after hours a couple people got up and started dancing to the music and it was such a blast. The food is really good. We've been coming to Gourmet Italia for many years, dating back to when we lived in Temecula. It had been a while since our last visit, so we decided to celebrate Father's Day weekend there, hoping to enjoy one of our old favorites. Unfortunately, it was such a disappointing experience that I don't think we'll ever come back. Our server, Nadia, was very unpleasant from the beginning. She never smiled, wasn't warm or welcoming, and gave the impression that she didn't want to be there. We had to ask multiple times just to get water, and she hardly checked on our table throughout the meal. Her attitude alone made what should have been a special Father's Day celebration feel uncomfortable. To make matters worse, several menu items weren't available. We wanted the side vegetables, but they had run out. I ordered the seafood pasta, and they were out of that too. I also wanted a glass of white wine, and they were out of the one I requested as well. It was surprising how many items were unavailable. We were also seated at a small table tucked away in a corner. It was actually the second table we were moved to, and even that one felt isolated and uninviting. This restaurant just isn't what it used to be. Between the lack of menu items and the poor service, it was a very disappointing experience. If Gourmet Italia wants customers to return, they need employees who genuinely want to be there and provide friendly, attentive service. How the heck have I never written a review for this place before?? I've been coming here for years. One of my favorite places for pasta. My go to is always the seafood pasta. I'm usually a light white or wine sauce pasta girl, but the tomato sauce on there is so good. I'm obsessed with their complimentary olive tapenade & bread. Honestly one of best meals we've had in this area. Service was quickly, friendly, and amazing. Our server recommended a blueberry mojito mocktail drink for me and it was delicious! We celebrated having family come to town and our baby announcement. Everyone's plate was tasty and cooked extremely well. My husband and MIL ordered their lobster ravioli (special), my FIL ordered their lasagne, and I ordered their seafood pasta (special) - everything was amazing and cooked perfectly. What should have been a fun date night turned into an awkward marathon of being absolutely aggressively ignored by our waitress for an hour and a half. We showed up and sat down excited to try the food. Things seemed to start off nicely as we sat down and ordered an appetizer. Then we continued sitting there for an hour and a half before we were ever acknowledged. We watched people sit down, be served their food & leave whilst we were still being ignored. I asked my boyfriend if we did something wrong. Both of us are pretty laid back and were just chatting about our every day things so I don't know how we could have offended our waitress, but she acted as if we had ruined her entire day (we were both very polite. We're not problematic customers.) Finally my boyfriend had to ask her if our dinner was coming soon. She was rude then slapped our silverware on the table aggressively. Then she plopped out plates down and walked away as quickly as she could. By the time we got our food, we were both too uncomfortable to even be there anymore, let alone eat. We paid the bill and went to get burgers and ice cream elsewhere to escape the weird vibes. I can't even tell you if the food was good because the waitress ruined the whole experience for us. Parking can be a bear on a Saturday night but it's possible. Definitely reserve a table beforehand or you will be waiting. There were 12 of us and without the reservation it would've been impossible to get in. I was the last to arrive and it was difficult getting the attention of the front desk. Thankfully another guest noticed I was lost. She pointed me toward the direction of the table which was tucked far away in the back. This place is bigger than I thought. There's a antique style part and a larger, modern addition. I will say our waiter, Jeremy did a great job handling all the Yelp Elites at this table. We can be a handful. He also helpers who brought out the food and cleared the table. I am giving it 4 stars for the lasagna. It wasn't my favorite. The price point for it was very high. It was mushy. I did try my friends lamb chop and out was fire. I don't normally eat lamb but this was cooked to perfection. I also got the Gourmet salad. The salad was very good. My teen got fettuccine Alfredo. She said some of the pasta was al dente. She does not like hard pasta. I guess you have to clarify here. The highlight of our evening was the owner came by to every table. He's a hoot. The first time I visited was for a dinner with 12 Temecula yelpers (thanks Janet for putting this together!), and I was really excited to try the place with them. It was dinner time and extremely crowded, but thankfully we had a reservation. There was live music, which added a fun energy, even though we were seated in a different room. The service was great, and the gentleman who helped us was very attentive. I ordered the lamb shank, which was absolutely delicious -- fall-apart tender and full of flavor. The friend next to me ordered the lamb chops, which were also cooked beautifully. All the plates around the table looked amazing and well-prepared. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was rich, creamy, and very filling. I also ordered a glass of Cabernet, and it paired perfectly with my meal. We really enjoyed our time there, so much so that I ended up returning a few weeks later for lunch with a friend. The service during lunchtime wasn't quite as good as dinner, but still acceptable and the food remained excellent. I ordered the seafood pasta, which was outstanding and is now one of my favorites. Italian run restaurant just on the other side of old town Temecula. The ambiance is intimate, but has a very comforting atmosphere at the same time. Decor reminds you of the furniture and pictures you'd see at your grandparents (nonna's) house. The reservation my friends and I made were at 8:30 on Sunday evening, so being we didn't come during the height of dinner rush we were sat immediately, and everything we ordered came out quite quickly. For starters I had the Insalata fattore. The tomato and mozzarella were lightly seasoned but very fresh. It was a very tasty salad and was a pretty decent portion size as well. My only complaint is the menu claims there are Kalamata olives in the dish, but I didn't see nor taste any which was a bummer. For my entree I opted for the classic Bolognese. Very hearty meat sauce with fresh made noodles, and again was a decent portion so definitely expect to get full. The waitress who recommended the dish did mention that she usually adds red pepper flakes to offset the sweeter aftertaste you get with this dish, which I should've asked for & definitely will tell you readers to do, but even without it was a well executed dish. If you're a pasta lover like me I think you'll really enjoy Gourmet Italia. If you're a first time visitor of the Temecula area though just be sure to make an earlier reservation, so that you can also drive over and walk/shop around old town before the sun sets. read more

Tonight my husband and I had date night at this restaurant, I ordered a glass of red wine, 20 minutes after ordering midway through my dinner I had to ask the server hey can you bring that glass of cab that I ordered? He asked me if I wanted Parmesan on my pasta I said yes he never came back by the time I was done with dinner, I asked him to put the Parmesan on my pasta and packed the rest to go. Gourmet Italia could easily be on "Kitchen Nightmares." Pretty good food hampered by the worst service I can remember in years. To that point, this will be my first true one star review in a long time. To set the stage, my dad made reservations for 7:30 for 8 for my mom's birthday. We came to Temecula as a destination and none of us lived particularly close. We arrived at the restaurant at 7;25 and were met with hostility. My mom (the birthday girl) was scolded for going in the wrong door to the restaurant (though there was no signage indicate you couldn't use it) and my dad and I were rather curtly told our table wasn't ready and we couldn't stand near the host stand. Time passed, 40 minutes in fact. At 8:05, 35 minutes after our reservation we began thinking they had been lying to us about having a table "almost ready". We scoured the restaurant and found only one table big enough to suit the party and then applied a bit of pressure asking the host stand why it is taking so long. Finally at 8:10, 40 minutes late. We were seated. The night progressed from bad to worse. We were informed many items were not available on the menu (including a Caesar salad, multiple beers, and some appetizer type items) and then had a confusing interaction over the specials. Our waitress told us the specials included a filet. When I ordered the chop (another special) the "manager" came around and informed me they were out of that too, so I asked for the filet. I was told they didn't have a filet by her. So I ordered lasagna. Then our waitress came back and said they did in fact have a filet. In the end I did get the filet... Which brings me to my next problem. Dinner took 70 minutes to arrive! So at 9:20 pm, almost 2 hours after we arrived, we had got dinner. During this time, the restaurant cleared out, and people coming near our table were few and far between. It felt like we were just forgotten about. We contemplated ordering DoorDash because we truly didn't know what was going on. Multiple times we had to go back to the kitchen and try to find somebody to check on the status of our meal. Even the band who was playing packed and left. When the food came out, it was good. Generally no big complaints other than the quality of a few of the items felt a bit cheap (e.g. gristle in the filet). But the notion of being nearly the last table in the restaurant, with a crying 2 year old an hour past his bed time, alone in a corner, really hampered the taste of any food and cast a shadow on my mom's birthday. The insult to injury came at the end. No discount or concession was offered. The only thing they offered was a free dessert, which we politely declined as my dad had a custom cake for my mom waiting at home. They forced the dessert on us however... and didn't even give us enough places or utensils to eat it with! My dad graciously tipped the waitress the full 20% as she was quite apologetic and seemingly embarrassed by the hellacious service. She took down my dad's number to have to owner/manager call and "make thighs right." They never did. If you are a party of 2 or 4 and want some good, Olive Garden grade food, Gourmet Italia may be for you. But otherwise, steer clear. This is an embarrassment to the restaurant industry. We haven't been here in a while. This place is still SUPER CONSISTENT in terms of the flavor and the quality of the food! Francesca's & Trattoria Toscana doesn't even come close... We like to celebrate an occasion like an ANNIVERSARY, BIRTHDAY or CHRISTMAS. This place is beautiful and it has a winery bar lounge.... LIVE PIANO: SATURDAY & SUNDAY from 3-6pm. ( young girl playing Classical music ) LIVE MUSIC: Friday and Saturday at 6pm. SEAFOOD PASTA: 5/5 looks as beautiful as it tastes! The mussels were so sweet and the seafood was so FRESH! SQUID INK PASTA: 5/5 signature dish! BRANZINO: 4/5 Very good and doesn't smell. However, there are lots of bones! CHICKEN Parm with spaghetti : 3.5/5 PASTA was delicious but, the chicken was DRY! LOBSTER RAVIOLI: 5/5 muah! CALAMARI: 5/5 Magnifico! Lunch time is pretty open so we would definitely be back! Highly recommend making a RESERVATION for DINNER! Last saturday I was invited Gourmet Italia to celebrate my aunts birthday. My cousin made reservations for saturday lunch. Since we live in L.A. this wasn't a restaurant I was familiar with. Restaurant looked kind of nice from out side. We entered the restaurant and so how beautiful it was. Ambience was exceptional, cozy and very calming. While waiting for the hostess, we read the story of "Gourmet Italia" and was touched as we are also immigrants from South East Asia. We ordered, appertizers arrived with the best Tepenade ?? I ever tasted. Dinner was no exception. Service was undeniably the best!
