We were searching on YELP for a nice winery to have a BIRTHDAY DINNER at and the Truffle Pig Winery appeared. I checked the ratings and pictures on Yelp and it looked pretty good so we decided to make a RESERVATION for dinner at 6pm... When we arrived there was a sense of familiarity. It appears to be Avensole Winery under NEW ownership!... AMERICAN WAGYU: 10/10 Best thing ever! The marination and flavor was so satisfying. The only problem we had was getting it to be more cooked. It came out RARE then, we asked the waiter to have it recooked then it came out MEDIUM RARE. We asked the waiter to recooked it again and the 3rd time it was MEDIUM. The outside seemed crisp but, the meat was so thick that it just doesn't want to cook!!! TALEGGIO & PARPADELLE: 10/10 Delicious! So worth trying and no complaints... PIGTAILS: 9/10 a must try! If you love French fries but, with a meatier twist then you will enjoy this dish! There's a nice crunchy exterior and soft interior from the fried potatoes... CARROTS: 10/10 sweet, crunchy and delicious! ASPARAGUS: 7/10 I like thick asparagus and this was too thin and chewy... SCALLOPS: 10/10 tiny and delicious little suckers! We were there on a Thurs night, not too crowded. The white wines were from Avenson and not very good at all. We ordered the table side Caeser which was a great experience from the young lady. I then ordered the caviar appetizer. One was brought out and it tasted just as a chip. Then the waiter came over and didn't see we had it and brought another one. Back to that in a minute. I ordered the wagyu steak and discussed at length with the waiter that I wanted charred med rare. He assured me that was doable. Well, the steak was brought out buy a runner and left. It barely had grill marks and was very rare. Ended up having lots of fat left over. Could not get a waiter to stop by for like ten minutes. So tried to eat. I know meats and that was not a wagyu for $100.00! Finally, our waiter came back and apologized but of course it was too late. He did give us a bottle of white that we don't like. Never saw a manager or supervisor. They appear to be understaffed and use runners to compensate but without kitchen controls and front of house oversite this place will not make it. We were excited to come here even though we stayed and had discount available at South coast dining room. Very disappointed. I'm planning on canx my membership and never returning. read more

Our first time eating here and I loved it! The service was amazing (shout out Mark - amazing server!!!) and the food was superb. I got the chicken focaccia and it was very fresh and zesty - I got it with truffle fries , I highly recommend!!! The truffle sprouts are also phenomenal. We filled up on them and we were almost too full for food!! The ambiance was so nice as well. It was a hot day but between the breeze and the misters, the outdoor seating was wonderful! It is a winery but the cocktails were amazing!! Give them a try! We got the lavender martini and the summer breeze and both were perfect (a bit strong but i like them like that ;) ). I ordered the espresso martini, my personal go to cocktail and it was fantastic. There is a large variety cocktails and high end liquors. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Ok, so why not 5 stars, well I would I wish the was a larger selection of small bites available at the lounge. Only 3 small nibbles available which are only 3 different flavors of bagged potato chips. However, you are to walk to the adjacent restaurant and order a too go item and eat at the lounge. Which comes in a low end to go container which takes away for the high lounge experience. The second disappointment is you must leave the lounge to use the restroom and use a code to get in the restroom. I am sure why the code, this lounge is on the remote and large Truffle Pig Winery property deep in the Temecula wine country and not a lounge in the think of the gas lamp district of San Diego. So why the code, who are we trying to keep out of the bathrooms? Despite this two small inconveniences I would definitely be returning to pig Pen Lounge! read more

First, ask for Robin -- she's a true professional server. I don't think I've had service like that since pre-COVID. We came for lunch on a holiday Friday. It was busy, but we were sat right away. Beautiful patio with fans, lovely ambiance all around. Very broad menu with lots of options. Under new ownership, the restaurant has been revamped to a black and white themed mood. And it works! Same chef, similar menus, friendly servers, beautiful setting. You can't go wrong with patio seating. Experience a serene dining experience with a wide menu offering. They offer Truffle Pig and Renzoni wines here. That's a big plus if you know Renzoni wines. And TP wines are pretty good too! We had a bottle of TP Grenache and we were not disappointed. And the price for a bottle was pretty reasonable at $45. The grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup was delicious. We saw plates of food going to other tables and all looked so yummy! Best of all, I'm so happy they kept their beet salad on the menu! The seating area in the restaurant seemed set apart and more part of the entry area. The patio area was busier and had better views. Service was kind, prompt, and helpful. Everyone's drinks were wonderful. The appetizers delicious. Everyone loved their food entry's although the portion sizes were quite small. The salsa on the fish taco plate needs a redo- it had an odd flavor. The mom's angel hair pasta was absolutely amazing. We would go back for that. However, the portion size was very small. I would've still been hungry had I not had an appetizer. A nice complementary cheesecake was provided to celebrate a friend's birthday. The cappuccino ice cream dessert was fabulous. The strawberry crumble was puzzling and subpar. The strawberries were overcooked, and was not like any crumble dessert I've ever had. Recommend they redo this menu item. It was quite disappointing. We'll have to come back to see if there were fixes to the menu at a later date. This restaurant is pricey however it is a beautiful location for a special night out and the views are phenomenal with spectacular sunsets. Great opportunity for photos! I dont know if we went on a bad night but it was a miss for food, drinks, and service. We were seated in probably one of the worst tables in the patio (close to the indoor entrace, with a huge cement pillar next to us). Our server didnt acknowledge us for over 10 minutes. Then finally said I'll be with you shortly (we have been waiting this long for you to just now say that??). We were missing a set of utensils and asked our server for it and she was quick to pass blame on the bus boys when she forgot to bring it (we dont need to hear that). She did the same for our waters. My Filet mignon wagyu steak tasted like it was a lesser quality steak than my husbands regular Filet but they were cooked the same. Im used to Wagyu steak melting in your mouth so Im not sure where this cut was from or how they prepared it. It was dry and I regret not getting a sauce to accompany it. The twiced baked potatoes were also very dry and lacked seasoning. I couldnt finish either which I never leave a steak behind. Our server could of made up for my food experience but her forgetfull, annoyed attitude made it worse. If i went again, I would stray away from steak, the cocktails, tableside ceasar and maybe sit inside. read more

Before wine tasting, we were looking for a good lunch so we would not get too insane in the membrane. I liked the idea of going to Truffle Pig Winery and seeing they had a restaurant sold me. It's more beautiful than I expected. It has a huge outdoor patio and a nice inside/outside bar. We're fans of AC and chose to sit inside. Everything on the menu looked good, but we didn't want to get too stuffed because wine! So we shared a yummy grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and a side of risotto. Newly opened restaurant in the Temecula Wine country area. This used to be the Avensole restaurant that got bought out and now it's called Truffle Pig Winery. I thought the food was better than what Avensole offered. The beet carpaccio was a good starter. Fresh thinly slices of beets with some baguettes. Nice pairing! The table side Caesar salad was the bomb. Love that they add anchovies. The American Wagyu NY strip was the star of the night. Tender and well seasoned. Plus the truffle butter on the side just took it to the next level. Lastly the oysters were fresh! Service was a little bit slower coz this was their soft opening week. But will definitely come back!! Love the new resto they did an overhaul of their decor from the previous Avensole. Definitely a place worth checking out. We love the ambience on the patio. Many items that were on the Avensole menu are included on the current menu. I do have to say I was deeply disappointed when we walked in and through the kitchen glass you could see three to four women working without hairnets or even hats. This is a health rule violation for kitchen workers. Avensole was a major offender for hair/beard coverings as well. I was very close to walking back out. We started with the beet salad. Similar if not the same as the previous restaurant. It was noticeably missing a few ingredients. We brought this up to our server and our wine was comped. (2 glasses) For the entree we went with the chicken forcacia sandwich. It came with fries or a small salad. I'm not a French fry person anymore (heart surgery). My wife said they were delicious. Went for a tasting with my lovely wife at the new Truffle Pig Winery and had lunch at their on-site restaurant, Domenico's. We ate first: Domenico's The inside was decorated very clean and classy. We couldn't help but to take advantage of the beautiful SoCal afternoon and we chose to be seated on their amazing patio. Spacious and a phenomenal space if the weather is good! I ordered the house Domenico Burger which came with fries, and my wife ordered the Bambino wedge salad. What can you say about a salad, other than she said it tasted fresh, crisp and had a lot of flavor. The burger was great, cooked perfectly, and I really like the jalapeños that accompanied that. Nice little heat, but they weren't overly spicy to dominate the whole burger. The fries were really good also which they seem to have quite an original cut almost like a pigtail. Knowing we were tasting wine later, my wife ordered a Rosebery Mule mocktail, which she really enjoyed. Refreshing on a warm day and very fruity. Truffle Pig Winery: This winery is very nice and the members room is very upscale "cigar lounge" atmosphere with a great small patio. Their wines were limited, as this was the first day of their grand opening to the Public. The wines weren't bad, but they weren't good enough to keep me coming back, unfortunately. I like bold reds, I don't really do whites or sweet wines, so if that's your pallet, disregard my "wine" portion of the review, but if you like bold reds, they're not here yet. There are too many great options in Temecula. I'm really hoping that they step up their future wine releases and are able to compete with some of their neighbor wineries, because the property is beautiful and the restaurant was very good.
