Came here today for lunch, to celebrate my mom's birthday. I wish I would've caught our waitress name - we got there right as they opened and she was the hostess, waitress and bartender, and didn't miss a beat! Really disappointed with the service here, especially at the front of the house. I've ordered takeout multiple times and have received incorrect orders more than once. This time, I ordered the Half BBQ Chicken with lemon Cajun seasoning, but they rang me up for the Cajun Chicken instead. Rather than confirming the order before charging my card, I ended up taking home something I didn't order--and the chicken was so dry it was practically inedible. I called hoping to speak with the manager on duty, only to find out there wasn't one available. That explains a lot. If you have staff running the front of the restaurant without proper supervision, who is ultimately responsible for making sure customers receive what they paid for? A $30 takeout order may not seem significant to the restaurant, but in today's economy, every dollar matters. When someone spends $30 on a meal, they should at minimum receive what they actually ordered and food that's enjoyable to eat. I've given this restaurant multiple opportunities because I like what they offer when they get it right, but repeated mistakes and a lack of accountability have become extremely frustrating. I had high expectations for Maderas Steakhouse, but unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. The restaurant was extremely congested. The booths are so close to the chairs behind them that when you get out of your seat, you're practically hip-to-hip with the person at the next table. There was barely enough room to move comfortably. To make matters worse, children were allowed to run around the dining room playing tag. They repeatedly bumped into our table while we were trying to eat, and no staff member stepped in to stop it. That's completely unacceptable for a restaurant at this price point. Service was slow and inattentive. Water refills were few and far between, and the pacing of the meal was terrible. Our appetizer arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, and then we sat for another 20 minutes after finishing it before our entrees finally came out. We spent more time waiting than actually eating. The food itself was incredibly underwhelming. Honestly, the best things we had were the complimentary table bread and the sweet potato fries. The $17 calamari was mostly fried crumbs with very little actual calamari. The tri-tip dip sandwich was bland and had only a couple of paper-thin slices of tri-tip on each half. The Maderas steak sandwich was equally disappointing, it was sparse on ingredients and was missing the chimichurri that was supposed to come with it along with the chipotle mayo For the prices they charge, I expected quality food, attentive service, and a comfortable dining experience. Instead, we got mediocre food, poor service, long waits, and a chaotic dining room. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a quality steakhouse experience. read more

Finally got to try this place for my boyfriend's birthday. The service and food were amazing! We both got the boneless 12 oz ribeye and both steaks came out to our preferred temp (medium rare). I enjoyed my sweet potato mash, that was something different from my usual sides. We went on a Thursday night and there was live music - not sure if that's certain days or an everyday thing but it was a nice touch to our dinner. Ended the meal with their cheesecake and that's one item I would recommend getting. They told me it's a two day process to make the cheesecake and you can taste it. The crust was moist, the cheesecake was smooth and creamy. Wish I got a picture of it but it was gone in seconds lol. Anyways, def will be back because I want to try their beef ribs next. read more

This restaurant is becoming a family favorite. My wife and I eat here for lunch usually but it's become a celebration place too. We came here my wife's birthday, my dad's birthday, and we came here Christmas Eve with my parents. My mom's a vegetarian and they have a full sized vegetarian menu you can ask for with lots of choices. Her veggie burger was massive! My dad always gets the Santa Fe which is a flat iron steak topped with manchego cheese and hatch chilis. I loved that steak too but for Xmas Eve I topped my steak with chipotle peppers and blue cheese. That was pure heavenly. My wife had the peppercorn filet mignon which she loved. Tri tip is always a safe bet. Top it with BBQ sauce and you can't go wrong. Yesterday we returned and tried their entree salads which are delicious. I really like the huge selection of side dishes too. I can't resist the corn nuggets! Drinks are cheap and service is usually really good. Only thing preventing 5 stars is the desserts are pretty bad except the ice cream and there are inconsistencies with cooking the steaks. None of us liked the cheesecake and my dad said the keylime pie is the worst he's had. My wife and I split the bananas foster which was really bad. I do love their vanilla ice cream topping with Pedro Ximinez sherry. Unique and delicious. My mom had this enormous brownie sundae. She's ordered it three times so I assume she approves. Parking can be cramped on a busy night keep that in mind. We got there and were seated right away. Hostess and staff were very nice. The place has an upscale but local vibe. Best way to describe it's a feeling like you're going to see a good friend. The old fashioned was Ok. The margarita was also ok. The wilted spinach with garlic and feta was so good I had it as my entree and also as a side to my 14oz prime rib. The prime rib was super tender and flavorful. At first it looked less pink than I would expect medium rare to be - but no worry it was juicy tender and one of the best I have had. We have dined here probably 8 times in the past 4 years and we've had hit and miss experiences. We are not big fans of their steaks or prime rib. We are big fans of their burgers, BBQ items, their fresh hot dinner rolls, their deserts, and especially their New Mexico inspired menu items. We came for their small weekend brunch menu this morning that is only good from 11 - 2 pm. Their version of the green chilaquiles (El Paso style) include beef tips with melted white cheese and New Mexico green chili's is outstanding! The semi-pureed black beans has great texture and flavor and perhaps made with a little lard? A must to to get with any of their New Mexican dishes is a side of their flour tortillas shipped fresh from New Mexico. Absolutely the best I've ever had. Not sure how I feel about this place. I'd been wanting to try it for a while and proposed it for lunch to a friend yesterday, who agreed. Service was friendly enough and very efficient. Restaurant seemed clean and wasn't terribly busy so we got seated right away. Food was good, not great. I had the bacon bleu cheese burger which was a bit well done for my liking and definitely could have used more bleu cheese. My friend ordered the Tri-tip dip which she said was very good. Both the burger and the sandwich were very large. I ate most of the burger (against my better judgement because I knew I'd be stuffed) because the bun started to get soggy pretty quickly. This is such a wonderful place to have a date. The ambiance is romantic yet lively. The bartenders are so friendly, as well as the servers. The food is out of this world delicious. My husband and I have been coming here for years to celebrate special occasions. We recently celebrated our 16 year "together " anniversary, and knew this would be the perfect spot. My husband loves the ribs, Mac and cheese, and green beans. He orders the same thing every time. I usually get tri tip, but this time I got the sirloin. It is AMAZING! By far one of the best sirloin steaks I have ever had. The inside was a perfect medium rare, and the outside had a nice char. I added the seared blue cheese crust and it was absolutely fabulous. I got cole slaw, which I also always get. I tried the dirty rice for the first time and it was so delicious. I will always get that from now on. I love a good rice pilaf, dirty rice and this one was top notch. The bread that is complimentary is delicious. Its a lovely sourdough roll. The cheesecake is also the best around! I have yet to try a better cheesecake. The wine selection is great, and the martinis are glorious. I recommend the cucumber martini. Its very refreshing. I had a good meal here with a friend several years ago. My girlfriend and I finished up a leisure activity a few blocks away so we decided to visit Maderas since I was in the mood for a good steak. The front of the restaurant looks classy with stacked stone, nice exterior molding, and wood window and door accents. They share a parking lot with a small strip mall and there is not a lot of parking. The last time I was here, I had to park on Katella a few hundred feet away from the restaurant. However, this time we arrived around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and got a parking spot right in front. The inside has a nice warm and cozy feel and there is a good sized bar area. We ordered a wedge salad to split for a starter. Unfortunately, the bacon seemed like it was barely cooked at all and was soft and mushy. You usually expect a wedge salad to have the bacon be at least a little crispy. I asked if they could make us another one with some crispier bacon but our server said all the bacon was batch prepared so we settled for another one without the bacon which was good otherwise. For my entrée, I ordered the Sante Fe steak. I have never had a steak before with this preparation and it was really good. The flat iron steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and the hatch chiles and melted manchego cheese on top was a great flavor combination. The spinach was prepared perfectly, had a bold garlic flavor, and the feta cheese on top provided a nice complement. The green beans were blistered nicely and had a lighter garlic flavor than the spinach. My girlfriend had the Thai Salmon from the specials menu. The salmon was cooked well done as ordered but it was a little too drenched with sauce. She had the green beans and the garlic mashed potatoes which just had a little garlic flavor. It must have been good because the plate was empty afterwards. Our server was friendly and took good care of us. The prices are just a little bit above average. Overall, we had a good meal aside from the wedge salad, and we would probably return once in a while if in the area. read more

Overall, the food was decent, the service was good, and now that I have a better understanding of the restaurant's style and concept, I would definitely return. We tried this place because a friend recommended it. It was our first time here. There is not alot of parking we found a place on the street a block away. It is a small steak house and busy most of the time. The service was ok took a while to get a server after the guy put our waters down. I ordered filet mignon and my husband french rib eye cut. We both got spinach for our side and I got ranch beans for my other side and my husband a baked potato. My husband's bake potato was so cold the butter didn't melt. By the time our server came around we were almost done with our meal. Basically he felt his whole plate sat before it got served. Food temp was less than warm. My food was delicious and temp ok. The server didn't come and ask how everything was otherwise we would have sent his plate back. This is a pricey place the service should up their game. It was a busy night for a dinner date, Valentine weekend. I had a different expectation of a steak house not realising a lot of factors had played into it. Maderas is a local steak place in Los Alamitos and the locals love it. So, I have to give it a try on this special night when an hour and half was the normal wait time. The place was buzzing like more of a bar than a romantic steak place. Fast forward to our table, our steak was divine. Decided to go here for lunch today with my son because hey its Friday,and who doesn't like a good steak on a Friday especially for lunch. i've heard good things about this place, so I was curious to check it out for myself. The waitress was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated and I asked her for suggestions on the menu which I thought would be helpful in making my decision I could've opted for something off of the lunch menu, which would've been cheaper, but she recommended the prime rib as it was only served on weekends and you know what ? why not. My son who is 10 and really does like good burgers opted for the kids burger special, He usually orders off the adult menu, but said he wasn't very hungry. This is where it all went bad, my prime rib, looked like it had been straight broiled and never seen an oven the whole time that it was cooking, not only was it tough but it's supposed to be prime and I'm telling you right now this thing was barely choice. There was no marble or vein in it and to make matters worse they cut off all the exterior of the prime rib ,reasons being unknown, but it was definitely weird (as seen inPhotos.) my son's burger was sad too. This thing had absolutely no dressing, no lettuce ,no tomato just bun meat and cheese. The damn thing didn't even have ketchup on it for christ sake. Honestly, super disappointed in this meal look at the pictures and see for yourself. I'm telling you right now. This meat is absolutely not prime as advertised because it was so chewy that it was almost inedible It felt like this place was trying to do a lot, but really struggling with its identity of fine dining. Probably should've told the waitress about my food but then again she never asked how it was so I didn't want to be that guy and just left it alone. 100% will NOT be back and I would not recommend it to others either. read more
