This review is for the sports bar area and not the restaurant. The bar area is tucked inside a Thai restaurant, with the restaurant on the right and the sports bar on the left. The atmosphere is nice and modern, with a bar area, a long communal table, and more private seating options on the side. There's a jukebox for music requests (for a fee) and four big screens showing sports. The bar has a full selection of craft beers, a full bar, and access to the restaurant's full menu and sushi bar (except on Sundays). We came during happy hour (daily from 3-6pm and 9pm-12am) and tried the spicy garlic edamame and dragon wings, both priced at $7. The edamame was flavorful, though a bit salty, while the dragon wings, tossed in a spicy Szechuan sauce, were a little too sweet for my taste. Next time, I'll probably opt for the cream cheese wontons (also $7). I also enjoyed a well drink for $4, which had a generous pour. Service was quick and friendly, although it became harder to get the bartender's attention later in the night. I just finished my workout at the LA Fitness gym and decided wonton soup sounded like a good dinner along with a side of shumi. Unfortunately, the Shrimp Wonton Buddha Soup was very underwhelming. Let's start with the stock. It had no flavor whatsoever. It just tasted like frozen vegetables had been boiled in plain water to make the stock, it had no seasoning. There were lots of vegetables in the soup, but they were disintegrating into mush. Even the broccoli and carrots that was in there was mushy. The wontons were so soft. They were falling apart, and they had no flavor either there was one shrimp wrapped in a wonton wrapper again no flavor. Let's move on to the.Shumi, they were very small and dense there were eight of them in the serving, but they were a little more than very small bite. The filling had a little flavor. The noodle wrapper was very dry and rubbery, and the pork and shrimp filling, lacked flavor and was very tough. I will give them credit for being very fast in preparing my order, as I was taking it home. They offered me water at the bar and they were very friendly. I enjoy watching a Food Network show on the TV while I was waiting, in their defense. I did order this as takeout and it took about 10 to 15 minutes for me to get home to eat even with that amount of time, everything was extremely overcooked. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this experience. I was hoping to be able to pick up dinner on my gym nights, but that's not gonna happen. The lunch specials are amazing, the crab Rangoon and calamari are spot on. My kids say it's the best orange chicken in the area. The mango sticky rice is a treat not to skip. The servers and staff are friendly. Sometimes when they get busy they can be slow but that's expected. The bar area is hopping at night. Fresh, tasty and I'm never disappointed. We stopped by this restaurant on the way back to San Diego from Big Bear. This is one of kind Thai Fusion restaurant which also has very big bar. The bar was very busy, and they have very wide selection of Beers, Wines and other Cocktail drinks. We ended up getting Manhattan Cocktail while waiting in the line to get our table which took more than 30 minutes may be because of Friday. Pad See Euw was presentable, however taste was not quite as expected, don't taste enough fish sauce. Green curry portion was too small though taste was so delicious. Mango Sticky Rice as our desert surprisingly was a big portion and we had to have it taken away in a box. Whenever I visit my family in Southern California I always prioritize a meal at Gra Pow. I've probably been there about 10-15 times and each time my meal has been excellent. I have to say they have the best Pad Thai I've ever had and it's what I get every time I go. I try everyone else's food too though and it's so delicious. This time my family and I went during happy hour. We started with our favorite app, Spicy garlic edamame which is so good! We also had the cream cheese wontons ( my mom's favorite) and dragon wings which my dad loves ( I'm vegetarian) . Those apps were discounted ( $7 each) during happy hour. For our main meals we had beef Panang , chicken, shrimp pineapple rice and I had my tofu pad Thai. I tried everyone else's food ( I'm officially a flexitarian now) and we were all pleased ( as usual). They have outside seating in front and a bar area if you want to watch sports. My family and I sit on the quieter side since we aren't there for the sports. Oh and my fav drink is the What are you Tajin about it's vodka based with cucumber and a Tajin rim.
