I used to come here a lot, maybe when it was newly opened and remember it being good and having huge portions. Well the food quality is the same and this place has apparently blown up in popularity because it was packed with long waits tonight. It's located in a big plaza, so there's plenty of parking. The environment here is lovely, with areas to sit outside, inside, plus the bar area. If you're going to order takeout, maybe order an hour in advance. I arrived and thought I'd place a takeout order and was told the wait was an hour and a half. Wtf, right? Went back to my car and thought, well, what's the wait for dine-in? Bar seating, it was about 35-45 mins. So try and get reservations or plan ahead of time to avoid the waits. Everything here tastes great and you're certainly going to be full so it's worth the prices, which is a little bit more than your usual Thai spots. This visit I got the pad woon sen. Don't come close to closing. Had a rough experience here a few days ago. My family was celebrating my sisters birthday and originally planned to have dinner at home, but things fell through so we decided to go out and eat. We've been here a few times and everyone already knew what we wanted before we even walked in the doors. We got there probably an hour before their kitchen closed and it seemed like no one wanted us to be there. Felt very uncomfortable and o ur waitress seemed to be neglecting us. Never refilled our drinks and dropped off our check before anyone was finished. We asked if we could put in a mango sticky rice when she did this and she informed us that the kitchen was already closed. No communication whatsoever. Our server, Oliver, was sharp, friendly, and handled everything like a pro--kept the vibe fun and made sure we were well taken care of. The food is fantastic and the service is great! We went for a weekday dinner and decided to sit in the bar. Next time we'll wait for a table in the restaurant. Some of the regular clientele feel a little too comfortable there and made the experience less pleasant. But the food was a 10/10. read more

It was a pleasure having our dinner there yesterday and our server Nichole was fantastic. The resturant was clean...the food was cooked fresh and might I add delicious. Atmosphere was extremely pleasant. Nichole our server was that extra touch adding to our fantastic dining experience. She didn't miss a beat. Seriously the worst take out ever! They don't answer the phone and when they do they are unprofessional and have no clue what actual food they have. Ordered 200 worth of food and waited two hours and they still screwed it up! How to you fail on so many levels? I even stood at the counter to tell someone the order was wrong- and not one person came back to ask me if I had everything I needed! This place used to be good, what happened???? I love their food it's so good but sometimes the service can be good and sometimes it's okay depending on how busy it is and when you go. The ambiance is kind of again busy so there is a lot that can seem like is going on around you. They give you time to look through their menu with no rush. I love going there with my family it is still a nice place to eat at even with it being a busy place. read more

I have always had a positive experience here but I would not say it is authentic Thai food. I have been to Thailand and it doesn't even compare. Miss Pad Thai down Alessandro is very authentic, but it's further away from me so sometimes I will still come to Gra Pow. We've been coming here since 2011. This place is always good. Food is always fresh. Dishes evolve with the times. Haven't had a bad meal here yet. Customer service is always welcoming and above and beyond. Setting is nice and intimate without being too dark. Prices are great and portions are big. Beef salad was great. I ordered my usual Mixed Vegetables & Tofu. *my go to dish at these restaurants since I'm vegetarian* My group which was thirteen people, ordered a variety of dishes. The general census was that the food was very good. My dish had a very delicious broth along with fresh vegetables. My partner ordered his usual prik king* I think that's how it's spelled * The medium hotness of the dish was more hotter than the usual medium hotness. It still was spot on with the flavors. @grapow_ig in Riverside offers a variety of Thai dishes. After two visits I've tried several menu items. Some were great others were meh. I really enjoyed the garlic noodles with shrimp and heat level 7. They restaurant offers spice levels from 1-10 with a 4 being their default/standard spice level. I liked the option to intensify the heat. Unfortunately, the beef garlic noodles were nowhere near as good as the shrimp. The beef was chewy and dead. For appetizers I had the cream cheese wontons, a rainbow roll and tuna tartare. The wontons were great, who doesn't like fried cream cheese? The tuna and sushi were underwhelming. I also had both the specialty soups and they were surprisingly delicious! I'd definitely order both again. There was so much flavor packed into that broth. The last item I tried was the Seafood hot plate. It was tasty, no complaints there. If there's one thing I learned, your experience here really depends on your server. My first visit I had much better service than the second visit. My second server never mentioned the option to chose a heat level or brought the extra 3 top spices to my table that my first server did. When I mentioned it to them, they said "You have to ask for it." Well, how would I know I have to ask when the first time my server brought it without me asking? Overall, even with the menu and service misses, I'd prolly go back and try more from their extensive menu. read more

Had some family show up on a surprise visit last minute on a Friday night, called Gra Pow and got an order Togo... lettuce wraps, satay chicken, egg rolls, BBQ chicken, Mongolian chicken, cashew Chicken. This place is nestled in the mission grove shopping center off of Alessandro and Northrop. I would say it is a little hard to miss if you don't pay attention. It's next to la bufadora pretty much smack dab in the middle of the parking lot. Service-they definitely we short staffed. It took a while for food to get out, they forgot my sons meal for a whole 20 minutes, our drinks never came out, until we reminded the waitress. Food- everything was good. No complaints here. Good service but food was so bad, I've never had such horrible food, my husband and I got the lunch special king Pao and bbq chicken. Just nasty. The cucumber drink was good. I was to embarrassed to not pay, came home and threw it away. Couldn't even give it someone else, why would I give them bad food. Also very expensive, last week we went to Market Broiler and paid less for filet mignon and shrimp that was delicious and fresh. Save yourself don't eat there. On multiple occasions (at least 3 out of 5 of my last visits) the ladies who take the phone carry out orders do not pay attention to what you order, and they often have an attitude if you have to bring something back for THEIR mistake. Wow... The last time I have been to GraPow was probably around 2008. I was surprised to immediately remember the flavor of the GraPow noodles when I tasted them. The fried calamari was delicious and the added spice from the jalapeno was a wonderful treat. Yellow curry was good and the fried rice was also. Can't wait to go back. read more

Been here for lunch and after work drinks. Service has been welcoming and attentive. It's a chill vibe during lunch, but the music is pumping loud at the bar area after work. And it only gets louder as the night progresses. Food wise, I haven't tried much, but of what I have had, I've enjoyed. Pad see ew - good standard flavors. One of my fav Thai dishes that's hard to get wrong. 7.8/10 Fantastic Four - a sampler platter of appetizers, including: veggie egg rolls, shumai, chicken satay, and dumplings. Chicken satay was brushed with a peanut sauce. The sauce was really good, so I wish they served it as a dip instead. The chicken wasn't dry and was seasoned well on its own too. Egg rolls were good. My review is more like a 3.5 star. The pros: 1. Taste. The food itself tastes pretty good. Well, I can't speak for everything. I stick to curry. So the curry is tasty 2. Communication. They call you when your takeout order is ready which is pretty nice. No other restaurants will call you. 3. Larger portion size. The cons: 1. Price. The price of this place is getting ridiculous. We've been in this area since July 2023. The price of curry went from roughly $18 to now close to $23. In a little over 6 months. Placed a togo order for an order of yellow and red curry & the total was $45. Since the portion is on the larger side it's really the only thing that makes me feel better about paying this price. 2. Was craving some Thai food and got the Seafood Noodle. I was only able to find this offered on their lunch menu, so I wasn't entirely sure what I was ordering. I told my server that I had a gluten allergy and she made sure that the dish was made with rice noodles, which were actually pho noodles. The service was slow and the food took awhile to come out, but I was really happy with the soup and Seafood Noodle. The Seafood Noodle tasted like a Pad Thai with lots of calamari. It also came with a small soup and salad. The salad came with fried tortilla strips. I asked the server if it was safe to eat (which she said it wasn't ) and she brought me out a new salad. I ended up finding a small piece in my salad but I'm sure it was an accident and they didn't just pick out the strips from my salad. read more
