I hate dentists and dentistry. I hate going to the dentist. Here are my comments on Dr. Grablin. He is, by far, the most careful and caring dentist...in fact, one of the most caring healthcare providers...I have ever seen. He is very focused on his work. He goes slowly and carefully. Because of this, it takes a long time. The crowns he makes are amazing, and he checks and double checks that they are comfortable and that your bite feels good. He takes time to explain things. He will bill insurance, but you need to pay first and get reimbursement. The work is expensive, but given all my dental issues, it is well worth it. He has shown me the issues with some of my previous dental work. Yikes! He got me to take better care of my teeth...and gave me a rating on my tooth care. While I wasn't super into this, I do take better care of my teeth than I ever have. Dr. Grablin cares about his work and it is clear that he is a master at his trade. He often feels to me like an artist...but not the selfish kind. He is very warm. It is a privilege to know him. He referred me to an excellent endodontist, Mark Manoukian DDS, who is very good and never fails to point out the excellence of Dr. Grablin's work. read more

Dr. Gary Grablin misrepresents himself as a natural dentist. My wife had a broken bridge and we chose Dr. Grablin because his website states he is a natural dentist. He required that we pay $6000 upfront before any work would be performed. She has reacted to dental products in the past and his website says he does "Clifford Reactivity Testing for chemical sensitivity". We requested this test and also advised him that she was having multiple immune system problems at that time. He did not insist or make any effort to make sure that we got the chemical sensitivity testing. After his initial examination he advised and referred her to his group of root canal and gum disease doctors, saying there was a problem with the area where the bridge would go. My wife was not having any issues or pain in that area. He went ahead and began performing the work of taking molds and making a temporary bridge...without the Clifford Test. Only after she reacted to the substances he used did he finally request the Clifford Test. Oddly, he was not able to assist us in finding a lab that would draw the blood needed for the test. After much researching and calling around we found a mobile lab that would do the proper blood draws needed. The temporary bridge he made did not fit right and fell out two times. It hurt her TMJ and she had a lot of jaw pain but had to wait for weeks to get it adjusted due to his vacations. When he examined the temporary he said he left too much glue under the bridge. When the permanent bridge arrived it was made partly of a metal that had not been checked out as a substance that she would not be allergic to, since at that point she still did not have the results of the Clifford Test. We asked for our money back but he wouldn't give it to us. Instead he referred us to his liability insurance company. When we requested the original mold so that we could go to another dentist to start over he said he would only give it to us if we signed a release of liability. We had chosen to wait until now to post this terrible experience as we were not sure whether to seek legal action from the pain, discomfort, weight loss, work loss and unprofessional behavior. I don't recommend anyone use this dentist as he misrepresents himself as a natural dentist, he misrepresents himself as kind and compassionate person and he rushes through his work. read more

First time I came into his office, I was in such a bad shape. It was after I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and discovered that I was chronically mercury poisoned. I was in a lot of pain in my throat, neck, shoulders, fingers, knees, ankles and feet. I had no idea what it would be like to go through replacement of all the "silver" (mercury) fillings in my mouth. I was desperate, horrified and in pain. When I walked into the office of Dr. Grablin, Gail and he introduced themselves to me in such a welcoming and positive manner. They were concerned, caring, respectful and confident. At the initial consultation, Dr. Grablin intently listened to the problems I had and solution that I was seeking and put it his highest priority to get rid of all mercury fillings in my mouth. We started the work a few days later. When we began working on the procedures, Dr. Grablin was extremely careful in not exposing me to any mercury during or after each procedure. He used the rubber dam, high speed vacuum and lots of water to prevent it. And I experienced no acute mercury poisoning symptoms after each procedure. Every time I sat in his dental chair, he offered these thoughtful items that made his patients most comfortable they could ever be in a dental chair. I could not have felt nearly as comfortable or relaxed without them; an airplane pillow, tinted goggles, a knee support cushion, blanket and lip gloss. His very thoughtful and caring personality also extended to the communication with his patients. He asked me how I was doing several times during the procedure and made funny jokes to make me laugh and relax. Trust me. It works. When it comes to the quality and accuracy of his work, he never, ever, ever, ever compromises. He practically re-constructed my entire mouth in order to replace 8 mercury fillings I had in my mouth, redo the awful and cheap work other dentists had done on me in the past and correct other dental problems that I had. He wants the best of best for his patients, so that the patient will experience the best dental health for the longest time which will inevitably affect his/her overall health for a long time as well. There were a few times I actually fell asleep while he was drilling into my tooth. I had developed that kind of trust and secure feelings about his work. I had never in my life trusted a health care practitioner before I met Dr. G. None of the doctors or dentists that had worked on me had true interest in the long-term health of my body as a whole. But this one, Dr. Grablin, will be even more eager and committed than you are for you to achieve the best dental health of a life time. He is the very, very best dentist I have ever known and the only one I can trust. For the first time in my life, I could just sit back and relax, instead of carefully looking for their own agenda, correcting their approaches and insisting on not further harming my body. Dr. G is the best! I can't thank him enough for his willingness to care so much and do such amazing work to transform my mouth and life. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. My daughter suffers from chronic illness, and her doctor suspected some dental issues may be contributing to her poor health. Her doctor recommended that she see Dr. Chalmers, a functional dentist in Santa Rosa, but as she had a 5 month wait list, my daughter chose to see Dr. Grablin, as he advertises himself to be a health centered dentist. Now let me preface by saying this: If you are someone who has money to burn and a sadistic desire to endure unnecessary dental work, he may be a good fit for you. Otherwise, PLEASE proceed with caution. I don't take writing negative reviews lightly, but I feel I have a responsibility to warn others. I'll provide an example. Dr. Grablin told my daughter that one of her teeth would almost positively require a root canal, as he could not see the root of the tooth at all in X-rays. Flash forward to my daughter's first appointment with Dr. Chalmers. My daughter explains to Dr. Chalmers what Dr. Grablin had said about not being able to see the root. Dr. Chalmers, reviewing the very same X-rays from Dr. Grablin's office, says that she can see the root perfectly fine. She then proceeded to fill a small CAVITY on that tooth during her next appointment. He also botched a crown (over contoured on both sides), and only agreed to fix it after my daughter expressed her dissatisfaction, despite the fact that he was aware of the mistake from the moment it happened. If you're somehow able to get past the fact that he's dishonest, and you're seeking a health centered dentist who is knowledgable about metal allergies, he will NOT be a good fit. When my daughter requested a MELISA test to determine potential metal allergies, he told her the test was unnecessary and performed a completely inadequate test in it's place, causing her to have to redo the crown AGAIN. I asked Dr. Grablin for a refund for the crown, and he had the nerve to tell me there were "factual inaccuracies" in my story, and gave my daughter a referral to a periodontist. If he thought she needed a periodontist, why on earth would he refer her NOW? This just demonstrates the fact that he has his own interests in mind, rather than that of his patients. The one positive thing I will say about about his office is that the receptionist and hygienist are incredibly kind and professional. In sum, I'm fully prepared for a similar response from Dr. Grablin, claiming "factual inaccuracies" in my story. That's fine. If I can save one person from having to go through what my daughter did, I'm happy. My daughter is now seeing Dr. Chalmers, who is WONDERFUL, and well worth the 5 month wait. Dr Grablin advertises his practice as "health centered", so I want to clarify: this dentist is in no way biological, holistic, functional or integrative. There are no digital x-rays, non-metal or bpa-free material options. I had a crown done at this office that needed to be replaced by my new dentist. He drilled tiny fillings into my front teeth that fell out. I completed all the work he recommended, and none of it lasted. And Dr. Grablin is the only dentist I have ever been to where I felt uncomfortable in the chair, to the point I asked to take a break during my last visit. I've moved on and found an actual biological dentist I MUCH prefer. Choose carefully what work you allow. Get a second opinion. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Gary (or Dr. G. as I call him) for over a year now. A friend had amazing things to say and I was long overdue to see a dentist. Enter: Dr. Grablin. In the last year my mouth has gone through a complete transformation. I do not have dental insurance and I do not make all that much money. Dr. Grablin's office was willing to work with me to get the work I needed done. They helped me get financing and helped me prioritize what needed to be done first. It's rare that you will find a Dr. that offers such care and follow up. Every time I have a major procedure done, Dr. Gary has reached out to me to see how I'm doing. On a few occasions, I wasn't doing too well and Dr. G continued to follow up with me even once when he was on vacation! I hate going to the dentist but Dr. G makes going to the dentist not so brutal and actually kind of fun with his sense of humor and awesome personality. Dr. Gary Grablin was recommended to me by one of the best dentists in SF, and assistant Professor in Dentistry, Dr. Jeff Brucia. Both Gary and Jeff have done extensive post graduate studies, which is very comforting to me as a patient, as in that they constantly keep up with what are the latest, newest and best approaches, products and techniques. Besides the thousands of hours spent on this continuing education, what makes Gary unique is that he is one of the very few dentists in Marin who do all their work through a microscope. As a (former) craftsman, this makes a lot of sense to me. Always enjoying his work and in a good mood, he jokes : "The good thing about working through a microscope is that you see everything,...the bad news is that you see everything!" Besides, if you want to try Gary out, he makes an incredible offer for new patients: He did a complete and very thorough examination, including gum fitness, a complete set of x-rays and a consultation at absolutely no charge and no commitment, and gave me the whole report to take home. ( a $275 value) His care, expertise, dedication, thoroughness, patience, humor and kindness make me feel I am very lucky to have found him. I have had many crowns done by him and they all look great, never cause any issues and every time he takes his time to do a perfect job, no matter what. And with the perfect combination of many, many years experience and simultaneously the knowledge of the very latest in the the science of Dentistry. Jan. 3, 2019 June 5, 2017 I saw Grablin. He misrepresents himself as a natural dentist. You pay this dentist up front before the work is done. $6,000. for the bridge replacement. I have reacted to dental products in the past and his website says he does "Clifford Reactivity Testing for chemical sensitivity". We requested this test. We also told him I was having multiple Immune system problems at that time. I didn't receive the test. He first refers you to his group of Root Canal and Gum disease doctors, saying there was a problem with these two areas. I was not having any issues or pain with those teeth or gums though. He went ahead and began preforming the bridge that needed replacement anyway without the Clifford Test. After I reacted to the substances he used on 9/18/17 he did request the Clifford Test, as I was reacting to the substances he was using, but he could not find a place to do the testing. The temporary bridge he made did not fit right when I left his office on 6/27/17. The temporary bridge fell out 2 times. It hurt my TMJ/Jaw pain but I had to wait for weeks to get back in to fix it due to his vacations. When he quickly looked at the temporary he said " there was too much glue left behind", from his dental work. He quickly adjusted it. When the permanent one arrived it was partly metal and I still had no Clifford Test. We asked for our money back and he wouldn't give it to us referring us to his his Insurance company. He wanted us to sign a release of liability before he would give me my original molds so I could go elsewhere to get help. Dr Grablin is the best dentist I've been too. He removed my mercury fillings and did an outstanding job replacing them with resin. He is caring, trustworthy and professional. He's got the best equipment to really see what's going on with your teeth. The office staff is also wonderful. Highly recommend. read more

I did a root canal on my front teeth in 1999 with Dr. Grablin and never had any issues with my front teeth. He is absolutely amazing person, blessed with a big heart! I am so thankful for all the things that he has done to me! read more
