Just left this place after stopping in for lunch. The guy manager was welcoming and nice. He got us waters and put in our order for chips, salsa, and guac. The salsa is definitely house made and so is the guac and both were great! A different lady came over and took our order and put it into the toast handheld. We got our food and ate. The tacos were tacos! Wasn't a fan of the Spanish rice or refried beans. We didn't see our server the rest of the time and a different nice man cleared our table when we finished. The last server came over and we asked to pay and we tried to split items but she didn't say much and walked off. After we were looking around the manager came back up and asked if we needed anything and he said that they could only split evenly. So we did. Why have toast if you cannot split checks? That is what the system was made to do. As a server, it's pretty easy and I could've been given the handheld and done it myself. Oh well, but something to make note of. Also expecting a tip just for taking our order is giving cashier. But I will tip for the manager and the busser. read more

this has been a staple place to pull up to for my bf and I. but recently service hasn't been as consistent as we're used to. Went there last week pretty busy and lively. We love when Sammy is our server he always takes care of us! as we take care of him as well however the last server we had seemed to be new. Only checked on us at the end of our meal and we had to go to the front to ask for our check. Left a bad experience for us unfortunately. We decided to go again today...it was pretty empty. We were greeted nicely in the front, got sat and got served our waters. 10 minutes, 15 minutes go by and not one server came by to greet us and take our order. We just walked out... Omg!!! Let's start with my favorite part.... The food!! The ears here are worthy of the highest praise only. I had the pickle taco, bean and cheese burrito, and ethical pork rib taco. The ethical pork rib taco should be illegal it's so delicious. From The first bite until the last it's like my taste buds were romanced and made love to. It left me wanting more... after the romancing with the ethical pork rib taco I had the pickle taco... there is something about having this second that just made me feel complete. The contrast of taste between the 2 is so much that it could have only been created by the taco gods. For the bean and cheese burrito.... I had a few bites of this and it was delicious. My dear friend asked to meet us to meet last minute for some weekend, late night tacos. I checked the menu, yep, there were vegetarian ones. Thanks! So off we drove; hubby and I for a late evening meal together. First time trying this spot and I enjoyed it! I've heard mixed reviews and honestly it was good! The bean and cheese burrito wasn't anything special but it tasted nostalgic. The wagyu burrito was pretty good. I actually like the size of their burritos because it doesn't feel like too much food. I was expecting more out of the green goddess salad it was good but kind of lacked flavor. The guac and salsa were very good! We also loved the horchata with coconut so delicious not too sweet. Escuela has always been one of our favorite go-to restaurants since its inception at its original location. We would eat at the restaurant once or twice a month, and order delivery multiple times per month. I loved (note, past tense) the skirt steak burrito and the guacamole, as well as many other tacos (og chicken , beef and pickle, poblano chili and cheese, pork ribs, and lobster to name a few). Sadly, many of the items have gone down hill. In particular, the skirt steak burrito changed when it became wagyu skirt steak (meat is rubbery and flavorless) and the guacamole tastes like watery grocery store guacamole since they began pre-packaging it. The hard shell tacos are now wrapped together when sent via delivery and become soggy even on a short distance. I am giving three stars based on its history and the hope it will return to its original excellence. read more

Tacos range from $6 - $15 and burritos are $15 - $35. Margaritas start at $18 and are extremely sweet so I've found it difficult getting a drink that I like. That being said, despite the prices, the food is all delicious. The guac and salsa portions are generous. The chips are perfectly salty and crispy. They have both hard and soft shell tacos and all the ones I've had are excellent. The burritos are bigs and they're not stingy with the protein. It's a cute little corner restaurant on bustling Beverly Blvd. It's packed day and night and sitting outside is definitely a vibe. Had to try the $35 wagyu beef burrito while I was in LA, which comes with avocado & sea salt. They also charge $1.50 per side of hot sauce, which is pretty crazy.
