OMG!!! One of the best breakfasts I have ever had! Such a creative menu. This breakfast hash was phenomenal. They smoke the brisket for 36 hours. Homage brisket, they make their own hot sauce, local honey, and local products. Their tuna salad is made fresh from a tuna steak. The smoked fish salad is locally sourced & great smoky taste. They bake on premises and what a selection at the counter. The service was incredibly attentive. My waitress Gloria really pointed out things I would enjoy intuitively she really reflects that hometown hospitality. This place was packed when I got there and never stopped, yet they made you feel as if you were the only one in the place. Stopped here on my way to Kaaterskills Falls. There was a short line to get in as they had just opened. Everyone in front of me was dining in so I told the host that I just wanted to order donuts and coffee and she said I can wait in front of the donuts. Stood there for a few minutes without any acknowledgment from the 2 girls working that area. Was a little confused if I was standing the right area to order the donuts. Eventually a different girl came to take my order but that was a strange encounter. Anyways, I got the Passionfruit with Cocoa Nibs and Cinnamon Apple Cheesecake donuts and hot coffee. The service left much to be desired. Long waits in a half full restaurant and an inattentive waitstaff are the reason for three stars. After all the written hype this Chef and Companion took the ride to see for ourselves. Breakfast at 9am with a smile from our waitress. Coffee and tea in a jiff. On to the orders. Companion had the Avocado Toast with 2 sunny side ups and chili crisps (chili oil with deep fried garlic bits). The Toast, I believe was from 2 heels of fresh baked farmers bread but were toasted to a rock (Companion had to use a serrated knife to cut it). Two perfectly cooked eggs and the sliced avocado was spotless and vibrant. The chili oil was pedestrian. On the side, my Companion ordered Maple Sausage that where about 6 inches long and barley a pinky in circumference. The maple flavor was there but the herb(s) were too pronounced and not in a good way. Her entree was $14. and the side of Sausage was $8. (that's pricey). I ordered the Fried Steak and Eggs with Sausage Gravy, I was so looking forward to this.......The "Steak" was a slice of Top Round (I can't say 100% but it wasn't cubed steak) and a little tough with no seasoning and the breading was falling off. This was accompanied by 2 perfect "in & out" eggs. As far as the sausage gravy goes, I really don't know. There was maybe a tablespoons at the most on the plate. One slice of brown rye bread was sliced in half on the plate as well. My breakfast entree in my opinion was to small for the price ($18). This is just our experience. Yours could be different. I rate the food at a 3/5. Service was 4.5/5 and the Ambience was a solid 5/5 (The view out the window was superb). Go and make your own opinion My review is only my opinion. Today we stopped in with our visiting niece so she could enjoy one of the places we've really enjoyed eating since we moved out of Brooklyn. As COVID rates are on the rise again, and as one of us has a genetic immune deficiency that requires we be very careful, we masked up before coming in. It was after 2:00, and the counter was completely empty, so we thought we'd risk eating inside instead of wasting the disposables needed for a take-out order to sit outside. Half-way though our meal, people came in and sat on either side of us. After quick consultation, we said the person waiting on us at the counter, "Okay if we take these outside to a picnic table? We'll bring everything back in." She said, "No problem!" Apparently she was mistaken. When my dear spouse took things back in, a different employee took it upon themselves to b*tch him out for taking dishes outside. Prices are high, but quality of food has always been really good, and we've not thought it is out of line. In fact, we've never had food we disliked here. Well I salted garlic, tomato, onion with oregano, salt, pepper ... and I made an a,zing meatloaf sandwich. Gracie's needs to rethink and reconstruct its meatloaf. All day breakfast! I liked my Turkey club but it was very dry. Their waffles were great. I got the Irish Coffee Shake and the alcohol was strong. Their vanilla malt was very yummy. Loved their shakes. Cute restaurant - it was pretty empty when we arrived around 5pm and the service was great. We went back the next morning for pastries since they were all out by the evening. You can drive past this place a dozen times and not even take notice. If you did notice you would assume it's a old fashion small town diner that is mostly filled with locals and serves stale coffee. However none of that is true. Inside you will find the modern version of what diners should be. Clean, sleek and welcoming. First I must mention the doughnuts. Seriously look away. One won't be enough. You must try at least two maybe three. Then take two more to go. Calories don't count if you are on a weekend getaway is what they say..right? You are going for a hike or a kayak ride so you deserve to indulge in these treats is what they say...right? The menu has a good amount of choices but not overwhelming. Everything is homemade and super flavorful. The Turkey sandwich with fries was delicious, and they have the thin shoestring fries that taste so good. The chicken and biscuit could have been a little bigger, but was the chicken was super tender with the right amount of sauce and the biscuit was not dry at all. Their sodas are homemade, so it's not quite as sweet as store-bought, but still taste good especially the ice cream floats. The staff was friendly and quick to help, and asked if we wanted to buy a doughnut while we were waiting. This spot has a pretty view of the river and very much a diner-feel. read more

(01/23/21) While researching places to eat in the area before our short weekend trip to Catskill, NY - we knew that Gracie's had to be on the list. They have a (deserved) high rating with lots of reviews so we wanted to see (and taste) for ourselves. They did not disappoint. We ordered two burgers, one Breakfast Burger and one Classic Burger. Both were delicious! A little heavier than my usual breakfast but totally worth it on vacation. We also ordered some treats to go: Salted Chocolate Chuck Cookie and Passion fruit with Cocoa Nibs Donut - I'd say if you were only going to buy one go with the donut, it was a treat. My bf ordered the Ice Coffee Fizz and has been hooked ever since, it's a combo of both of his favorite drinks. I got a lemonade, nothing to complain about there. The only thing I would probably not suggest personally is the cornbread. I've attached photos for reference of our meal. The service was nice, we dined indoors. The tables were properly spaced out and labeled so there was no confusion of where to sit to maintain proper social distancing. Was on the road - out of cell signal - when we passed by here and figured it would be a good rest stop. My expectations honestly were a little low, thinking that this may just be another greasy American diner, but was happily surprised to be completely wrong! First of all, inside is CLEAN and CUTE!!! I could see the staff constantly making sure everything was immaculate, even as I ate. If you're lucky with a window seat, you can get a great view of the river behind this restaurant I had the ALT - Avocado Lettuce Tomato with poached eggs. That fried tomato was excellent! First off the table was dirty after seeing us, the person I was with had a dirty coffee mug with lipstick all over it. And I couldn't help it over here a table right next to us also had a glass that was dirty. So that didn't start out so well. Came here via the suggestion of friends who live in one of the nearby towns. Its got a cute modern vibe to the inside, it's clean, and service was quick. But what I would say is "great" is the food, and the views. Food: We got the spicy chili, the full breakfast, kale césese salad, pulled pork sandwich, fried green tomato BLT, a matcha latte with oat milk and matcha lemonade. Everything was delicious! I just broke out of jail, stole a car and found this gem of a fancy dinner. The staff were super attentive as they noticed I looked a bit frantic and so they made my food to go and in a hurry. Fortunately for me they took Apple Pay as the car I stole had an unlocked cell phone in it. I noticed they had homemade pastries and donuts so I grabbed a few (peach fitter, yum) and had them throw it on the bill. I ditched the car in their parking lot as I saw a beautiful creek in the back of their lot. I made a mad dash to the trail leaving no crumbs behind. My tasty tuna melt and addictive fries gave me a warm belly, a smile on my face and the energy to push on. I saved the pastries for when I found a good hiding place for the night. Delicious classics in a chill setting. We were driving from lake George back to NYC and wanted basics but not fast food and saw that this was right off 87 and then saw photos of the food! I believe this is exactly what this restaurant was before they covered it in trendy veneer and interior design. the menu is full of fresh and interesting re-imaginings of traditional diner food but it's all being cooked by young passionless people who are clearly not familiar with the history of American diner food or the direction of whoever came up with these new dishes pretty menu, pretty donuts, pretty veneer, pretty clientele and pretty wait-staff. It had some jalapeños & melted cheese as well. The Fries were perfectly seasoned as well. Overall, I'd DEFINITELY come back when I come up to visit again from queens for my annual fall trips. If you're looking for a cozy, small town vibe and got a big appetite look no further. Gracie's Luncheonette is a hidden gem just 30 min away from Windham mountain. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but mother always said don't judge a book by its cover! When you walk in you immediately see plants (my favorite thing after desserts) and a light up sign "BAKERY" on a shelf. Inside the shelf are glorious cookies, cake slices, donuts and, check this out, STUFFED pretzels. We were greeted and seated instantly. The host told us all the bakery items are made fresh daily and by the scent of the place you could tell she was telling the truth. I went with a party of 3 so the four of us split a broccoli cheddar street corn stuffed pretzel. It was warm, cheesy and delicious. My bf and I split the chicken and waffles, while the other two people got broccoli cheddar soup. The chicken and waffles was really good! This is a lovely place with a modern, fresh interior. The menu is a comforting family diner type of fare. We had our grandchildren with us and they enjoyed it and felt welcome. In the back, there was seating with a great view of trees and water. We were seated towards the front but it's an open layout and so we were able to enjoy a bit of the view even from the other side of the dining area. We were in Catskills for the weekend getaway and was looking for a quick bite before we headed back and found Gracie's on Yelp. We were in a rush so I didn't get to read all the reviews but saw that the menu had a good selection of sandwiches, breakfast, and burgers so we decided to give it a try. We went in and the first thing that grabbed my attention was how beautiful the interior was. I loved the wooden furniture surrounded by modern, unique wall art, plants, and fresh cut flowers at every table. The hostess sat us by the window where we had a view of the creek -what a stunning view. We got a spicy chicken sandwich and fried steak & eggs.
