We drove almost an hour to try this place. The kids were super excited about the donuts. They were almost out of them when we got there, so we had our sever set four donuts aside for us to eat after lunch. She was clearly not happy about working there, but we overlooked it. I had wondered if she was sick. When she came to bring us the donuts, she somehow dropped them all on the floor on the other side of the room. After quite a long time, she came to the table and gave us one donut to split between the four of us and offered us no other options, despite the fact that they still had other donuts and pastries. We accepted it as we didn't want to be there any longer anyway and my daughter kept telling me that she needed to tell me something once we were back in the car. It turns out, that when my daughter was in the bathroom she heard our server laughing and telling the other employees that she had a bad feeling about us and that we looked like we had experienced a lot of failure in life. She described us to the others and went on to say how she hated my dress. I took it as a compliment. I hope she enjoyed the $28 tip we left. We leave more when people are friendly or at least decent. Appearing more appetizing in pictures, I would describe the food here as okay. The biscuits and gravy were slightly above average. There fried chicken was very good, while the chicken and biscuit was bland and, therefore, disappointing. My family did not like their veggie burgers, which they described as a hashbrown in a bun, or the fries. My baby kale salad was soggy and limp. Milkshakes were average. The one donut we got to try was delicious. The chili was disgusting, think American public school lunch chili. On the other hand, the sweeping views of the creek were idyllic from the large windows. Got take out and got the 4 piece fried chicken. It was supposed to have a breast, leg, thigh and a wing. The wing was the biggest piece with the breast was more like a chicken tender. Best place I've ever been to. I got the French onion soup along w the fried green tomato BLT and it was splendid. The atmosphere was incredible. It happened to be snowing when we went there and we had a seat right by the window and the snow over the water was GORGEOUS. The biscuit that was in the French onion soup was the best I've ever had. It was my first time trying fried green tomatoes and they were great. I loved that they supported local artists by putting their instagrams next to the paintings that were all over the clean white walls. When we asked for soda they explained that they made theirs in house which impressed all of us and ofc we ordered some. A tiny bit pricy but that's expected w all of the homemade things-- the KETCHUP WAS HOMEMADE. read more

I work locally so I decided to visited Gracie's (formerly Koch's) which had been open for several weeks. The place was clean, which I would expect since it was just renovated and bright, very, very bright. The atmosphere was very sterile, would have been nice to see some local photos of the town or something. The staff was friendly and polite and I was seated immediately. I arrived during what I would consider lunch time around 12:30 there were only two other tables that had people seated. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, med rare, fries and a coffee. When my burger arrived 35 minutes later (I'd hate to see how long it would have taken had they been crowded) I could not believe what was on the plate that cost over $13.00. This poor little thin excuse of a burger sitting between a burger bun, it was over cooked and did not have anything in the way a flavor even the bacon lacked flavor. The last time I had a $13.00 burger it stood almost 10" tall, made with custom blended meats had three types of cheese, onion rings, locally smoked bacon, ham and a mountain of fries, I had to use a fork and knife to eat it and the flavor was awesome. Now that's a $13.00 burger. To add insult to injury the fries were barely warm and were nothing to speak about and the coffee tasted like it had been sitting for quite a while, at $2.50 a cup I would expect fresh flavorful coffee. When I asked my server how they can justify pricing a burger like this at over $13.00 she replied that it was locally raised beef. At these prices and portions it had better be Kobe beef. While I wish the new owners well I don't see how a place like this will survive in the long run with locals with respect to the prices they charge, the portions you get and the overall flavor. There are places to eat just up the road that have a much much better value and in my opinion better tasting food. read more

Loving Gracie's! The outside is a sleeper, but the inside?! First, be sure to sit at, or at least look, at the view out of the back window. Nice. Then, the staff is always helpful and accommodating. But the star of the show is the food. Both my meat and veggie-eating friends are delighted with the menu. I can't speak highly enough about their broccoli cheddar soup, their veggie burger (I get is as a Gracie's burger, sub the veggie), and the grilled cheese. We ate here for lunch while spending a weekend in Catskill. The food was very good and every detail homemade! I had the Gracie burger. The truck sauce was great. If I go back, I'd order a double, even though that starts to make the price a little much for the quantity. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich and that was excellent as well. My husband and I were SO excited to try this new restaurant, me especially as I am also a CIA alumni. We arrived on Sat. 12/31 at 4 pm and the waitress brought us to a teensy table in a crowded room right next to a table with eight people and two children (UGH! I have no children and certainly don't want to put up with anyone else's when I dine out!) I asked to be seated in the back where there was only one other couple and it was by the window with a gorgeous view of the snowy creek. We sat for several minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted a beverage, and by that time we were ready to order. The menu is very limited, but I was there to try a big juicy burger! I saw the $13 price and thought, that's more than fair. It's grass fed, ground in house with bacon and homemade cheese on a homemade bun. I was tremendously disappointed as it was about the size of a dollar menu item (very thin) and the bacon was IN not ON the patty. NO lettuce and tomato! All $13 burgers should come with L&T. The menu said the Gracie burger came with Fried onions, they were Sauteed, not crispy coated and fried. There was a huge portion of hand cut fries which were ok but not hot and crispy. The flavor of the burger was acceptable, but not spectacular and I just couldn't get over the size. It cost $3 for a second patty and if that is the case then something is wrong with that math! I was jealous of my hubby's spicy chicken sandwich, and thought I should have gotten that or the homemade Pastrami. I steered away from that selection because it was served on white bread, and it just isn't the right bread!Rye bread just sets off the flavors. It would be like getting a meatball parm on multigrain... it just doesn't work. I ordered a $4 donut that was made from the same dough as the burger bun. It was fresh and the salted caramel and toasted coconut schmear was very tasty, but it was NOT a proper donut dough. It was nowhere near as light and fluffy as a true donut ought to be! I am a pastry chef and baker who has made my share of donuts! The coffee was bold and delicious, but it was only 3/4 full and got lukewarm by the time they brought me the cream and sugar. I had to ask twice. All around the place is nice and clean, the wait staff is pleasant and the food is fresh, but they need some time to fine tune everything and so I will go back in a couple of weeks for another go. The prices are a little steep for this area, and I get it that it's all fresh made right down to the ketchup.. they just need to up the protein portions a little and have a little more variety on the breads. They did come through by for me when I asked to HOLD THE PICKLES. Most places ignore that request and contaminate my food anyhow, leaving my plate with a puddle of green juice that makes my bun and fries soggy. Looking forward to another visit, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised! read more

Went for lunch on a very sunny March day.the space is beautiful. The owners carefully restored this roadside diner! It's clean and bright. The view is beautiful. I had a 1/2 soup 1/2 sandwich combo. Baked potato soup which was hot and delicious. It was topped with a bit of crumbled bacon and sour cream, just enough. I picked the 1/2 turkey, which was fresh roasted. It was excellent! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I'm from Pennsylvania, but I would make the trip again! By the way, I adored their pie case!! read more

Hubby and I went to check out this great looking new place in Leeds. Barnwood is close by too but looking for something a bit different. Very disappointed. Prices were a bit high unless this burger is grass fed beef. Nowhere does it say on menu that it is local or grass fed beef. A fiend told we it was local beef but why not advertise that. Fries were tasty but barely warm. There were only 4 tables full and we were the last to be served so no excuse. I asked for burger, no pickle and hubby no onion on his. After taking our bites, I had pickle on mine and hubby had onion on his. What?. Watress even wrote it down and then said she fixed the burgers. DUH! Wasn't even asked how we wanted burgers cooked. Now I hear they only cook them one way. What's up with that. Friend had plain salad that was $13,hope it was Organic, there wasn't anything on it! Don't get me wrong, I'm not against paying a price for great food but they won't last long with this gig. If you want a real small choice in menu, you got it here. Hope you guys can get your $&@? This place is well worth a detour if you're on the Thruway! The food is excellent, and the staff chooses the best quality ingredients, then butchers, bakes and crafts them so you will find house baked hamburger buns and donuts, house made condiments and sodas, etc etc. The food is thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and the service is excellent too. I think the servers are proud of what they serve! We visited twice: once for breakfast and once for lunch. The baked goods (cornbread and biscuit with breakfast--hamburger buns at lunch--donut for the car) made our meals special. The Classic hamburger and fries was wonderful--a cut above. So disappointed by the rude behavior this morning. After waiting 45 minutes for our brunch, we asked for a biscuit for our 4-year old. That took another 15 minutes. When we complained and asked to speak to the owner, who was sitting on the counter, the manager said he couldn't see us. When some food finally did arrive, we found a spider in our salad. That was explained by saying the greens were fresh and organic! The manager also told us it wasn't a big deal to wait an hour for food on a weekend. And we didn't get so much as a sorry from her -- she acted like we ruined her brunch. The management and ownership is so rude, I've never experienced that before and sad to say we won't be coming back and definitely telling our Hudson community about this experience. read more

Heard interesting things - all homemade food. Decided to try it. The service was awful. Not only was the young woman inexperienced, but not at all welcoming. Great busboy - almost made up for her. The onion soup tasted better than it was presented, thankfully. Spilled over the sides of the bowl, greasy looking. Kale salad overpriced, but tasty, and steak was just okay, again thankfully cooked properly - rare. Was told all hamburgers are well done, do couldn't order what I wanted. Sides were great - braised greens and onion rings. The view by the creek was beautiful. The bathrooms a bit baffling - 3 doors, each marked with a letter - M, F, W - my husband had no problem - I decided to wait. Wouldn't try it again. read more

This is one of my favorite places to stop for lunch. The inside is nice and bright and the whole place is just very modern. They make from scratch house made sodas which use fresh ingredients that taste amazing. I got the pimento cheese burger which was juicy, creamy, and cooked to perfection. The key to this burger is the fried green tomatoe on the bottom, along with deep fried olives. The only downside is the food took a little long to come out. And finally, you can't leave Gracie's without getting one of their signature homemade donoughts. They have chocolate peanut, dark chocolate sea salt (the best), vanilla glazed, and many more. OMG! Gracie's is not to be missed! My friends and I have stopped here multiple times on our way up to windham and we always leave stuffed to the brim. The place is clean, bright and has a gorgeous view of the creek out back. I always love the music they have on too. More importantly, the food is next level delicious! Breads, sodas, condiments all made from scratch! I swear I've never tasted actual ketchup until I had theirs haha. It will change you! Even their bacon and lox are all smoked on the premises. Met the owners and they are really cool, down to earth people too. My favorite things on the menu are the vanilla soda, bagel and lox, doughnuts and bread pudding! They also make really excellent burgers and such (so I hear, I'm vegetarian). They have something really special going on that I think the food world really needs; honest, fresh and delicious food made with love :) read more

Went here for an early dinner and it was fantastic! I got the chicken and waffles and a homemade orange cream soda and it was SO delicious. My friend got a classic BLT with fries which she was happy with. The real star of the show though - donuts. I got some to go to treat myself to and they were to die for. After slugging through Home Depot, we wanted a great meal. We didn't know what we were in for. We saw the sign coming of the highway and looked up Gracie's. They were so welcoming, and asked us to wait a second while they cleaned off a table with the glorious view. I was just mesmerized by their baked goods counter. Big pretzels filled things, like pepperoni pizza, jalapenos and cheese, and Donuts, wow, the donuts! Kitchen sink cookies, and mocha cream cake. Then they explained how every single thing is fresh---baked rolls, bread, they butcher their cows, smoke their meats, make their ketchup, mayo, dressings, even soda! For those who say it may be pricey, I can't imagine what this freshly deliciousness would cost anywhere else. I had the Gracie Burger, Drew had the Pulled Pork. I took about 10 minutes choosing because I wanted everything! I can't wait to get through this menu. I almost didn't want to post out of selfishness. I want Gracie's to myself! read more

Stopped in on New Years Eve, and had low expectations based on predecessor at this location. Boy what a surprise. Clean, bright, simple decor and welcoming staff. Nice selection of "craft" bottled beers, but I opted for the local Suarez Family Brewery Vienna Lager that was on tap and it did not disappoint. I had the Smokehouse Burger which was way too large but very good. My wife enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. Service was excellent, and price was very reasonable. Good food, good drink, good service, reasonable price--what else can one ask for? Definitely worth the short 5 minute detour off the Thruway if passing through, or even shorter detour off of NY-23 when traveling from Catskill Mountain skiing or hiking sites. read more
