If you're looking for a cozy, small town vibe and got a big appetite look no further. Gracie's Luncheonette is a hidden gem just 30 min away from Windham mountain. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but mother always said don't judge a book by its cover! When you walk in you immediately see plants (my favorite thing after desserts) and a light up sign "BAKERY" on a shelf. Inside the shelf are glorious cookies, cake slices, donuts and, check this out, STUFFED pretzels. We were greeted and seated instantly. The host told us all the bakery items are made fresh daily and by the scent of the place you could tell she was telling the truth. I went with a party of 3 so the four of us split a broccoli cheddar street corn stuffed pretzel. It was warm, cheesy and delicious. My bf and I split the chicken and waffles, while the other two people got broccoli cheddar soup. The chicken and waffles was really good! This is a lovely place with a modern, fresh interior. The menu is a comforting family diner type of fare. We had our grandchildren with us and they enjoyed it and felt welcome. In the back, there was seating with a great view of trees and water. We were seated towards the front but it's an open layout and so we were able to enjoy a bit of the view even from the other side of the dining area. This was my daughter-in-law's selection and clearly a local favorite spot. I'd be happy to go there again when back in the area. read more

We were in Catskills for the weekend getaway and was looking for a quick bite before we headed back and found Gracie's on Yelp. We were in a rush so I didn't get to read all the reviews but saw that the menu had a good selection of sandwiches, breakfast, and burgers so we decided to give it a try. We went in and the first thing that grabbed my attention was how beautiful the interior was. I loved the wooden furniture surrounded by modern, unique wall art, plants, and fresh cut flowers at every table. The hostess sat us by the window where we had a view of the creek -what a stunning view. We got a spicy chicken sandwich and fried steak & eggs. The food was pretty good, nothing mind-blowingly good, but definitely good enough to satisfy our hunger! I was surprisingly happy with unexpected find. read more

ok first thing- if you can leave a stick of butter unwrapped in refrigerator for a month and put it on bread and eat it without tasting the contents of the refrigerator you'll probably have a good experience eating here and you should stop reading this review right now. If not, read on. the food was awful. I got chicken fried steak which tasted like an old dirty walk-in cooler. I'd bet $100 the cardboard box they arrived in had been sitting wide open in some dark corner for a month. I told the waitress and she was not surprised. I shouldn't have been surprised either because that's the first thing I smelled when I walked through the door- ancient unwashed walk-in cooler and rag-water soaked plywood. that old funky restaurant smell. reminded me of a desperate old restaurant from some forgotten dead end in the Poconos. I believe this is exactly what this restaurant was before they covered it in trendy veneer and interior design. the menu is full of fresh and interesting re-imaginings of traditional diner food but it's all being cooked by young passionless people who are clearly not familiar with the history of American diner food or the direction of whoever came up with these new dishes pretty menu, pretty donuts, pretty veneer, pretty clientele and pretty wait-staff. Stopped by this cute luncheonette right off the interstate. Food was delicious and fresh. Really loved the idea that most of their ingredients are sourced from local farms and they make their own condiments and sodas! I tried the Gracie burger at the first visit and it was very fresh with their house made truck sauce which tasted similar if not better than the Mac sauce. Upon reading how you MUST try Gracie's, I had to. When seated I liked the environment right away- spacious and clean with great views if you are by the windows on the right. The staff- pleasant and attentive. The food: I had the beef hash and tried the poppy seed bagel with smoked salmon (bagel and lox.) All the extras like homemade ketchup and capers were great. Everything tasted fresh. I spotted a girl eating a donut and I was just gravitated towards getting a donut. The best decision. I took a pistachio donut to go and oooooh the softness, the creaminess and sweetness. SO GOOD. This donut was so bomb that I went back the next day to pick up another two. This place is an absolute GEM. I had the Smoked Brisket Sandwich and it was 10/10, honestly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life. The smoked meat mixed with the cheese and jalapeños made for an incredible bite. Also the onion rings are like little UFO flying saucers, they are super puffy and savory. My Fiancé had the Fried Chicken sandwich it was also incredible, paired with the Matcha Latte, OH and don't let me forget the ICED COFFEE FIZZ, this is something that you just can't get anywhere else, it is basically a cold brew seltzer topped with whipped cream, how can anyone say no to that. We wanted to love this place with all the lovely reviews and recommendations, but the food just was not great. We started with fried green tomatoes and the tomatoes were not green lol the fish fry basket had a very fishy taste, the cuban sandwich was palatable, but dry, and the fried chicken sandwich was a tad above McDonald's. It was just not a satisfying experience for us and we were starving after a long drive when we got there. I'm glad other people are experiencing the opposite. read more

Well well well.... So, it's not gonna re-invent any wheels, it's not going to get any Michelin stars but what it is gonna do is make ur tummy happy and you WILL GO BACK. Took a friend there for brunch recently (got to park in handicap parking because of his recent health issues, the place was PACKED and parking would have been challenging At the time). We split the wings, he got a chicken waffle (boneless) and I got their lox bagel kit with fancy hash browns. And yes, I got my OM Egg without hesitation (see different review). Fancy hashbrowns came with smoked trout roe and sour cream and chives. They obviously make their own waffle batter, those were delicious. Personally I never understood the chicken and waffle craze but my friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy it! Also had a Bloody Mary which was probably the low point of the meal. It was just not good. We left with some donuts and baked goods from their front counter. Really not fair that they just have this pile of delicious things right where you pay before leaving. Evil genius. Donuts were yeasted donuts and they use the same base for the different toppings. I have slight issue with that but I get it. It's very practical and utilitarian and ultimately, everything was eaten by myself and my kids without complaint so there's that! Looking forward to going again. Many things on the menu to try. A MUST EAT AT when in the Hudson Valley. The donuts, easily in my top five best donuts ever. They are fluffy and squishy. Flavorful and glazed to perfection. Flavors are always changing, and you cannot make a wrong choice. Their other baked goods offering are also glorious and drool worthy. They had a layered Hummingbird Cake on my visit and I nearly wept bc this is my favorite cake and a rare bird to find out in the wild. But Gracies, they know what's up. They have fried green tomatoes. Perfect fried green tomatoes. Get them in a BLT, get them with the Pimento Cheese (oh my lord they have PIMENTO CHEESE!!!), get them as a side, better yet, order a side to take home as well. Very good food; excellent ALT sandwich with a fried green tomato, and some of the best French Onion soup we've ever had. Donut and pastry selection looked popular and inventive. Service was attentive but frantic. Art and decor could be simplified and less cluttered. Our only complaint was that a couple of employees were noticeably sick (one was leaving to go home) and another kept wiping her nose while serving customers. I was looking for a place to pick up lunch on my way from Olana to my Getaway House. I went to Yelp & Gracie was highly rated so I decided to check it out. Gracie did not have in person dining (this was August 2020, during the pandemic) so food had to be ordered and paid for on the website and then picked up once indication was given that the food was ready. I ordered the fried chicken, loaded fries and an Arnold Palmer. The fried chicken was good but the loaded fries were the highlight of my meal. Even though they were loaded, they weren't soggy which is always a concern of mine with loaded fries. I hope the next time I make it up to the Catskills, Gracie's will be open and I can dine in, the decor inside looked really cute. read more

Cute little place, very clean and great decor. Service was great too. They make homemade soda. I had the orange and cream, it was really good, you could even see they used vanilla bean! The cola tasted good too, better than the stuff on the market. I thought it was really cool they made their own sodas, they have other flavors as well. The french toast sticks were so good too, creamy and soft on the inside and super crunchy on the outside. I do wish thought that it came with whipped cream and berries too, just personal preference. The breakfast platter, we had the vegetarian version. They make their own hashbrowns and it tasted homemade, u could taste the seasonings too. The bread and butter were also homemade and omg it was the best slice of toast i had, I wish I bought a loaf. The avacado was surprisingly perfectly ripe, most places the avacado is hard and almost inedible. The ketchup, while homemade, didn't taste that great but I still appreciated it was homemade. This is such a hip place in what feels like the middle of nowhere. We came here after a camping trip smelling like campfire and kind of dusted with mud, but the staff were generally pleasant towards us. Prices are upscale brunch-y but quality of food and taste is all really good. The VIEW at the back is amazing??? Like a painting. And the decor in here is bright and uplifting. Menu is pretty extensive and they serve brunch all day which is awesome. We got a cup of french onion soup - good, but pretty sweet due to the caramelized onions. I got a donut (so fluffy, so big) the selection was limited at 3pm on a Monday holiday but it was yummy. The biscuit with sausage gravy was good and filling. Poutine is amazing (hard to mess this up) and the mac and cheese was decadent as a side (had a kind of sharp/bitter tasting cheese in it. Very grown up mac.) Overall great experience. Yelpers, I have an important announcement: my search for The Great American Veggie Burger has ended (for now) with Gracie's Veggie Burger. I got mine with cheddar cheese added, but don't bother with that. The burger itself - a kind of variation on a falafel, primarily a chickpea-based burger - is moist and flavorful enough that you don't need the add-on, unlike most veggie burgers you might encounter. Gracie's is clearly in the No. 1 spot with this burger. Got the side salad, excellent, very fresh. My deputy Yelper also praised the Gracie's Burger. Excellent fries. Only 5 minutes from the NY Thruway, this is definitely worth a visit. Yes, people, this is not a diner, it's a luncheonette. You'll find the pricing perhaps higher than in a truly low-end diner. But then again you wouldn't find this quality of food. We did not try the baked goods, which look fabulous, although their donuts (and note the ice cream sandwich donut) look like they'd feed a family of 5. Spotlessly clean, very pleasant, airy decor (get a seat with a creek view), and excellent service. Will be back! read more

This place was highly recommended to my boyfriend and I from the hotel front desk we were staying at about 30 minutes away. It was a rainy day, and she described the food and the ambience as being the perfect comfort food spot. She explained that Gracie's started off as a food truck then opened up the restaurant. We fell in love with the description and were impressed by the online reviews, so we decided to take the 30 minute drive to this highly hyped up restaurant. SERVICE: It was Labor Day, so we expected the restaurant to be packed in the afternoon. There were many open tables, and only 1 family ahead of us waiting to be seated. Yet the hostess seemed scattered, we had been standing there for quite some time before being acknowledged, let alone be taken to a table. Our server was friendly, but ultimately inattentive. Took nearly the end of my meal to get my glass of water refilled. FOOD: The menu options do seem to provide all the comfort foods you would want. We decided on sharing the chili to start. It had all the fixings of cheese, sour cream, and heat. Though we agreed the actual flavor of the chili was missing. My boyfriend ordered a burger and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Both were 3/5. Neither were impressive. Perhaps the lackluster experience we had here was due to the fact that it was Labor Day, and I can assume they had a busy morning rush that exhausted the staff. Gracies food is absolutely delicious and is reasonably priced. The waffles were cooked perfectly and the fruit was all fresh. The kitchen sink was an adequate portion and was very tasty. Both of the items ordered were a little overpriced for the amount of food that you are receiving but delicious none the less. This is another establishment that seems like it is aimed more towards tourists or visitors vs locals. The view is nice but isn't something to be thrilled about. My dad lives up here and I've been wanting to try Gracies for years since good food is not easy to find around here. I'll say the menu is diverse the food good and fresh. My issue is no management present ( that I could detect). My dad is 99 yrs old, we were made to stand and wait for a table while there were plenty available. No one there to push the staff which there were many. Ladies room no TP or paper towels ketchup bottle Uber gooey. Just think they could tighten it up a bit but worth a visit. read more

Gracie's Luncheonette was the site for our "adopted" daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner this May. We had a grand time. The view from the private dining area looked out over a beautiful mountain and valley vista. The dining area was just perfect -- full but not packed. The drinks flowed as did the appetizers, dinner and desserts. The bathrooms were clean, the wait staff attentive and friendly, the atmosphere welcoming. If I lived here, this would be one of my frequent restaurants at which to eat. read more

Started with the root beer/ ginger soda and the orange cream/ vanilla soda but was a tad disappointed with both. Refreshing yes, but lacked punch. The coffee/ soda thing was also not for me I'll say. Strong coffee- wish I had ordered just straight up iced coffee :( I had the Cuban sandwich that was toasted perfectly. The roast ham and pork was out of the world. We are in this area occasionally and specifically for PYO cherries across the river in Hudson. Usually tired and hungry from picking mounds of dark sour cherries, we stop for some food on the way home and, depending on our route home, we may stop in at Gracie's. Our recent visit, the third, proved satisfying once again. It was late afternoon on a Saturday. The main dining area was rather empty when we sat down around 4 PM, but started filling up by the time we left. The dining room is large, clean and has great scenery outside. Our server (did not get his name) was quite friendly and interested in hearing our questions and comments about the food and the restaurant, in general. He emphasized the baked goods, donuts of course, and breads are made in house and produce is local. The beef they use comes from a relatively local farm across the Hudson. Which explains why their smashed burgers are quite meaty and juicy. A homemade sauce, melty cheese and grilled onions on a house made roll with excellent crisp shoestring fries accompanied by house made ketchup completed a delicious dish. A delicious Cobb salad had a large bed of fresh local greens covered with generous amounts of sliced avocado, excellent crumbled blue cheese, cubes of fresh turkey, and ripe juicy cherry tomatoes. A generous spread of bacon bits was not quite as good as the rest. And, of course we had the obligatory house made donut (Boston Cream Pie) which lives up to the hype. Yes the prices are up there, likely due to, according to our server, the house made quality and ingredients. My biggest complaint was no mention of charging for drink refills. I think 4.5 is more accurate, overall. However, the 5 recognizes high quality effort to make the food and dining experience top notch. If we lived in the area, we would be regulars. read more

Unfortunately the servers were overwhelmed as orders were messed up, people served who'd arrived after us when we'd not gotten our food yet. It took ten minutes to get coffee and juice and another twenty to get our oh so delicious breakfast sandwiches. I saw that they were hiring but they should've been more prepared just after opening on a Sunday morning. Maybe make people wait so they could serve properly? P.S. the windows on the front open out which has allowed bugs to get in. The first table we sat at had about 100 tiny little green gnats hanging out about 8 inches from my seat. We moved. If you're visiting here, you're probably visiting the Catskills region for the scenery. This restaurant is a perfect complement with a sunny classic American dining room with all glass windows. We ordered the fish sandwich (the flakes of fish melt in your mouth as you eat it), as well as a kale caesar salad and French onion soup. Visited Gracie's the other day. Love the decor, view, service and music. I had coffee with an egg cheese and bacon sandwich (on a average soft roll.) Sandwich was average sized. Also had a small cup of mixed fruit that was fresh and not run of the mill (sliced apples, oranges, berries and melon.) Very tasty! The infamous donuts were a disappointment. I agree with the counterperson that the Boston Creme is outstanding, but Fruity Pebbles were stale (Ie the pebbles were) and overall the doughnuts were heavy and tasted very yeasty. And you MUST eat them the day you get them because they do not hold up well. Kitchen sink cookie was primo. So, if heavy donuts are your thing, enjoy!
