We visited twice while staying in Franklin. Our evening meal experience was enjoyable. The service was great and the food was tasty, but maybe a bit bland, particularly the pasta. However we enjoyed the experience enough to return for lunch on another day. Unfortunately the service was not so good and the sandwiches were disappointing. Was not impressed by either the service OR the food. First off, we saw a table outside and asked the hostess if we could sit there and she waved us on. However, she didn't come back for at least 10 minutes. Though the table had been bussed we had to ask for it to be cleaned. The waitress who came was very effusive and a bit overly familiar but made a good wine recommendation. Unfortunately she was so interested in talking about her preferences in wine that she got my food order wrong. I literally had to get up and go flag down another person on the waitstaff. Then I waited 10 minutes after I received my sandwich to get the fries (that were supposed to come with it). And...they were barely warm to boot! We chose the Downtowner and Happy Trails sandwiches and neither sandwich had anywhere NEAR enough ingredients on them...except for the inordinate amount of goat cheese on the one. The Happy Trails sandwich had more fig jam on it than anything else. The cucumber 'salad' I ordered (for $4. mind you) was nothing more than limp slices of a small pickling cucumber thrown in vinegar with a smidge of dill. Being an avid foodie and traveler, all in all this was a very BIG disappointment and I would not recommend this establishment. read more

We were passing through the small town of Franklin, North Carolina on our way back home from vacation and came across Gracious Plates on Main and decided to stop in for dinner while passing through. The restaurant was clean with an inviting atmosphere that was perfect for the small-town setting. The restaurant staff made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. They took great care of us, taking the time to explain some menu items along with keeping our drinks filled and continuing to check in on us periodically to see if we needed anything. We were pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu as it was filled with an variety of spectacular dishes. Everything sounded delicious and we eventually settled on a variety of wonderful appetizers followed up with the Brasstown Ribeye Steak which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The steak was so tender and full of flavor making it one of the best steaks that I've ever eaten, ever. The sides that came with the ribeye complimented it well, included were garlic blue cheese mashed potatoes along with sautéed brussel sprouts. The sides were delicious as well and were presented nicely on the plate. The only downside of Gracious Plates on Main is the fact that it's located nearly eight (8) hours from our home in Virginia Beach which sadly will limit how often we can actually dine there. Moving forward I will plan our future trips to Tennessee with a route that goes through Franklin, NC so we can stop in and grab a great meal at this establishment. The next time you're in the small town of Franklin, NC I urge you to stop in and experience this wonderful little restaurant. They have something special going on at Gracious Plates on Main and it's definitely worth taking a detour off of your route to experience it, you won't be sorry that you did. read more

The food is delicious. Depending on your appetite, they offer unique small plates as well as outstanding entrees and craft cocktails. Reservations recommended as they are usually busy. I really enjoyed this place! Great menu, food is so tasty & so colorful, variety to choose from. It's that type of good menu you want to order every single thing from :) Cocktail menu is deliciously unique not your typical boring basic generic drinks everyone has, there is inside and outside seating. Outside seating is nice, you can people watch in cute small town of Franklin. Service was wonderful :) our waiter was a Spanish gentleman that super nice & attentive, entire staff very kind & welcoming. I definitely look forward to coming back here for dinner. What a nice restaurant in downtown Franklin, NC. Food was excellent with great service. Pricing was very reasonable. Had the Appalachian Humus Sandwich, which was very unique and delicious. Really like the mixture of Hummus and Olive Tapenade. My wife had the mushroom cheesesteak, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We ended the meal with coconut cream mini cannolis. My husband and I had a couple of appetizers at Gracious this afternoon and they were amazing. We had the Lamb Meatballs and a house special bruschetta. They were both awesome We are visiting Highlands and took a drive to see some waterfalls and the town of Franklin. We are soo glad we did. Our server was Emily and she did a fantastic job. We ate here on Friday after Thanksgiving. We had the truffled white cheese fondue appetizer. I had the tempura fried shrimp and my husband had the special which was a steak sandwich with shoestring fries. Everything was very delicious. Definitely going again. read more

Stumbled on this place one random Tuesday afternoon on vacation. Can't recommend it enough! Everything was super fresh. Service was great! Started with the pickle martini sounds weird but delicious if you like pickles. Had the sampler appetizer. Highly recommend! My husband had the special-chicken salad. If you're trying to get business, I would advise not to ignore a customer waiting to get service or talk to someone while one waitress hangs out at a table with a customer talking and the other person is preoccupied with someone trying to do business with them. My wife and I have been here several times and never had a bad meal. Don't know what happened tonight but we both ordered the ribeye and it was terrible. Ribeye should be fatty but not all fat. A 150.00 meal should never be as bad as my wife and I had tonight. Waitress was very good so I still left her a good tip but this meal was criminal. Please take this as constructive criticism . We had the roast chicken and the sautéed shrimp, both of which are repeats (our standard for whether it's good). Craft cocktails were great! Didn't try wines, but did indulge in flourless chocolate cake w strawberries marinated in Grand Marnier. Meats/veggies locally sourced. Will most certainly come back w friends and family. This is my favorite restaurant in Franklin. We eat here at least 2-3 times a month. I try to follow a Mediterrean diet as much as I can when eating out and GPOM fits that cuisine very well. The Chef knows how to cook fish and steaks so that they come out exactly as you ordered. Their cocktails, wine and beer selections are top notch. Their salads are fresh every time. I can't say enough good things about GP!! Love there menu!! I've ordered almost everything on their menu and not one item has disappointed me or my guests. All of their staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Our favorite waiter is Steve! We will go back again and again. Thank you GPOM for preparing my Salmon just the way I love it!!! I am amazed at the great reviews. I thought I would treat myself to a good meal tonight. I can ignore the hostess with the attitude, I just wanna good dinner. So being one of the only customers in the room, I waited and waited for a server. She asked for my dinner request never asking what I would like to drink. Ordered an Old Fashion... it came , tasted like pure fruit juice! For my meal I ordered the scallops and an order of sautéed mushrooms.. The mushrooms tasted as though they were drenched in salt. Found the whole experience to be non personable, not professional and above all a waste of my time and money. read more
