We LOVE Gracious Plates, however we left today because although we had reservations we were seated right next to the bathroom. We did politely ask if we could be seated elsewhere, however, the hostess briskly said "everything is reserved." Really? Funny... place was pretty empty and many openings for tables present online .We will return because the food is great & service has always been on point. Very disappointed in the hostess' lack of customer service - hope it won't happen again. read more

I just have to say I have been in the Food and Beverage industry for years, I also like to point out the positives as well as why I am writing this review, first I have been here now about three times, all of the appetizers are wonderful, my favorites are the crab fritters and the scallops, the flat bread is amazing as well, they have a decent wine selection, the atmosphere is great, you can sit outside or inside which we did last night. When we first arrived the hostess was nice and asked us to wait a minute while she checked on the tables and servers to see where to seat us, after seated she brought us water promptly and said our server would be right with us, it was steady but there were plenty of tables open, so we sat and sat for a while, so long if fact the other server asked us if we had been helped, then our server finally got to us and the first thing she said was " I almost forgot you ha" so to be honest we were happy she at least was honest with her approach and ordered some appetizers, then we ordered another round of appetizers, then the entree which were both steaks, I ordered mine medium and my friend medium rare, when they came out they were both over cooked, but being in the industry we decided that we were not going to make a big deal about it, but it would have been nice if our server would have checked on us before we were half way through so then we probably would have told her, but she kept disappearing ( I personally think she was over sat and weeded), then my friend asked for a glass of wine which it took a long time to get, then we asked for a dessert menu and ordered dessert which never came, as I looked around she was at other tables and then another server came over to ask after awhile what the dessert order was, so then it finally came out, by now my friend and I are both annoyed but able to deal with it, so as we were in the process of eating the dessert our original server came over and stood there awkwardly and fumbled and said here's the check, or something to that effect, by this time with her rude behavior and attitude we were done, now mind you they were not even close to closing, she still had other tables, so to me that is just rude, she disappeared for most of the meal, yet had the nerve to present the check while we were still eating! Plus the table we were at was on the smaller side so she had to slide it onto the table by the silver wear, NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL, so that was it, then my friend puts the credit card out on the table, so she walks by at least four times without even looking at the table ( she had to walk by our table to get to the kitchen) so first she is rushing us, then ignoring us, we even had to ask the server next to our section if he could run it! My friend ALWAYS tips over 30-50 percent ALWAYS, IF THE SERVICE IS GOOD, but when you have all of that, THE SERVICE SUCKED, HER ATTITUDE SUCKED.... so the tip sucked, as we were walking out, the server came running after us yelling DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG!? and at first I couldn't believe she was doing that, first she approached my friend who politely told her yes you did but I do not feel like getting into it ( something to that effect) then she kept yelling to me and literally CHASING after me as I am leaving! Im in the industry so I figured if she was going to hound us about it I would tell her, so I did, I really looked at it as maybe she was new and wanted to know, but I quickly realized she was mad and unprofessional and arguing with me about it, so I removed myself from the situation before it got out of control, because by that time I was getting mad, ( that is not my ideal dinner situation) what she didn't know is my friend knows the owners quite well, so as one was sitting outside she saw this happen, and she was mortified of the situation, this server who I could name but I wont out of being in the industry and trying still even to be respectful, was the most rude, unprofessional, unfriendly server I have dealt with, and it is really a shame do to the restaurant itself. I will wrap up this by saying the food is usually really good, atmosphere is great, but because of her behavior and horrible attitude I will never return, so hopefully she will get more training on how to wait tables, and have a better attitude even under pressure and understand if you are a horrible server you do not deserve to get a good tip, honestly she is lucky she got anything for her performance or let them know not give her so many tables when she definitely CANT HANDLE IT so that makes the tables she does have suffer with horrible service, so this restaurant will not lose anymore patron's. read more

The best restaurant by far during our two week trip in the smoky mountains. Everything we tried was insanely tasty (from Chef Jessie who stopped by our table to say "hi"). The service from Emily and Teagon was friendly, fast and over the top responsive. We had a healthy/ delicious salad, blackened ahi tuna and a tempura shrimp that was probably the best shrimp we've ever had. For desert, the flourless chocolate torte topped with bananas foster was out of this world. read more

The restaurant is so uniquely decorated and very quaint. The server Jacob was wonderful. He was very attentive and assertive. He has great people skills and is a natural. The food was amazing! What a nice restaurant in downtown Franklin, NC. Food was excellent with great service. Pricing was very reasonable. Had the Appalachian Humus Sandwich, which was very unique and delicious. Really like the mixture of Hummus and Olive Tapenade. My wife had the mushroom cheesesteak, which she thoroughly enjoyed. We ended the meal with coconut cream mini cannolis. We visited twice while staying in Franklin. Our evening meal experience was enjoyable. The service was great and the food was tasty, but maybe a bit bland, particularly the pasta. However we enjoyed the experience enough to return for lunch on another day. Unfortunately the service was not so good and the sandwiches were disappointing. We were passing through the small town of Franklin, North Carolina on our way back home from vacation and came across Gracious Plates on Main and decided to stop in for dinner while passing through. The restaurant was clean with an inviting atmosphere that was perfect for the small-town setting. The restaurant staff made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. They took great care of us, taking the time to explain some menu items along with keeping our drinks filled and continuing to check in on us periodically to see if we needed anything. We were pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu as it was filled with an variety of spectacular dishes. Everything sounded delicious and we eventually settled on a variety of wonderful appetizers followed up with the Brasstown Ribeye Steak which was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The steak was so tender and full of flavor making it one of the best steaks that I've ever eaten, ever. The sides that came with the ribeye complimented it well, included were garlic blue cheese mashed potatoes along with sautéed brussel sprouts. The sides were delicious as well and were presented nicely on the plate. The only downside of Gracious Plates on Main is the fact that it's located nearly eight (8) hours from our home in Virginia Beach which sadly will limit how often we can actually dine there. Moving forward I will plan our future trips to Tennessee with a route that goes through Franklin, NC so we can stop in and grab a great meal at this establishment. The next time you're in the small town of Franklin, NC I urge you to stop in and experience this wonderful little restaurant. They have something special going on at Gracious Plates on Main and it's definitely worth taking a detour off of your route to experience it, you won't be sorry that you did. read more

It's that type of good menu you want to order every single thing from :) Cocktail menu is deliciously unique not your typical boring basic generic drinks everyone has, there is inside and outside seating.
