I think I am in Love!!!! I knew Grady's from over the years when it had a more formal restaurant style. But, I re-encountered Grady's when it reopened a few months ago. I was immediately attracted to the new "diner-styled" appearance. The staff were all very pleasant and inviting, continuing to provide me that same Cozy Homewood Community feel. The menu options have shifted to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Because I have met Grady's on more than one occasion, I have tried a few items now. I have enjoyed the Prime Rib Sandwich. It was on buttery bread, with moist succulent beef, and melted cheese. On another occasion, I had a simple breakfast of Scrambled Eggs, Canadian Bacon, and English Muffin. Now, I use the words "simple breakfast," but many places find it difficult to cook my eggs as requested. Well, Grady's did not disappoint me. My eggs were correct-- the first time! And, on another visit, I enjoyed the Banana, Raisin, & Brown Sugar Oatmeal. And, I already knew I was "infatuated" with Grady's, but during the Oatmeal "rendezvous," that's when I knew for sure that I was IN LOVE. Came in for brunch with a friend and because of the nice weather asked to dine outside. The hostess gave us a disclaimer that if we dined outside we wouldn't be allowed to return inside and that there were bee's on the patio. We decided that we would dine outside anyway. Once outside we quickly saw that this was more than just a few bees. There were quite a few tables that had not been cleared off full of food and the "bees" were everywhere. Mistakenly when seated we hoped that they wouldn't make an appearance at our table. They did. We used our menus to keep them at bay. When our food came we were now officially under attack. They swarmed our food, crawled atop of the hot sauce, one was even crawling in my butter container! We really tried to get through it but then my friend let out a scream... she had been stung. Unbeknownst to me the bees were actually wasp. Others that were dining outside showed concern. One women offered her bottle of bug spray that she went and got from her car!!! The manger Ian should be fired!!! He took longer than ten minutes to check on the status of my friend. He was argumentative at times when we tried to request to either come into the restaurant or have the food comped since I was no was about to eat bug infested food!!! The manager did agree to comp the food. I suggested to maybe close the patio and was told that people keep asking for it so he wasn't going to close it. They also tell people that Bees are on the patio when they are in fact wasp which might make people change their minds.. All that to say this clearly is no longer a good breakfast spot for me. Won't be dining in or ordering and I'm telling everyone I know how my friend was disregarded and we had to negotiate for proper service. If the concern was about losing $40 he's going to be losing way more than that in the future. read more

He even had the audacity to say "Hello come on where do these drinks go" to our table. In the past, I would have given 5 stars, but the last time we went there will be the very last. Hire some new workers please. The waitresses we have had the few times over the span of a year have either been rude or not communicative. The very last time I went there was December 19, 2024, a Thursday, around 1PM. We got seated immediately, I noticed it wasn't as busy as it used to be. We got our waters immediately. A random lady walked by and was sweet enough to compliment my hair. 15 mins passes, turns out that same lady was our waitress. We didn't find that out until my friend saw another waitress go over to her and point at us as they were talking. We were about to leave after sitting 15 mins then the waitress rushed over as I was about to put my jacket on and took our complete order, drinks, food and even a to-go order.... But she never brought our drinks. Meanwhile, my friend is watching her serve two other tables behind me, but in front of her. A table that got there after us was able to get their drinks soon after they were seated. That was another 15 mins we sat there waiting, still with no drinks besides the water. We start to get up to leave since we waited 30 mins and still didn't get our drink order. The waitress rushed over and goes "You guys are leaving me?? Your food is about to be done!" I said "Yeah, we've waited 30 mins and still don't have our drinks, though." She argued back, trying to convince us to stay, saying "We had a party in the other room and they just got all their food and I had to go serve all of them." But, my friend had watched her come and serve tables that got there after us and continue serving surrounding tables, plus she was doing the party? Whose awful idea was that to have one person (seemingly) covering four tables on the floor and a whole party in the other room? My friend is a hostess at a prestige hotel and I am a professional full time hair stylist; in other words we know something or two about customer service and this was not it. My friend told her we appreciated her explanation and I said we still wanted to leave though. Then, the waitress yelled "OKAY CANCEL TABLE 30!!!!! THEYRE LEAVING!!" Hoe unprofessional!!!! And embarrassing for yourself, ma'am. Neither my friend nor I wanted to give into that and we just LEFT and most likely will never be back. Get some new wait staff, or maybe a manager that communicates to customers there may be a wait, even though majority of the restaurant is empty, due to a party. We would have been even more understanding. But after that waitress yelled like that? We won't be back. Other times we've been there recently, a different waitress would let us wait long periods between getting drinks, food, and even our change back. She'd catch and attitude if my friend had questions about the food due to her allergies, and she caught an attitude when my friend asked for her change at the end of the meal. I'm not sure if there are new owners, new management or what, but the food is still good. Just need new wait staff. It *used to be* a wonderful spot... This place used to be my go-to when meeting with friends and going out to breakfast/brunch with my fiancee almost twice a week; one time he and I couldn't decide what we wanted so we both ended up leaving with leftovers and loved the food so much we ordered food to take home to eat the next day. Which, we have never ever done at any other restaurant we've been to. However, coming to meet friends here recently? Within the last couple years the quality of customer service has gone way down. We used to be greeted immediately, taken care of by happy waiters/waitresses, the food would come out quick and be absolutely delicious. We were catered to as if we were, I don't know, paying customers. Not anymore though, not anymore. We found other good places to meet in the area, but this was our favorite. OMG we found our new fave spot. Our children loved the food as did we. The service was phenomenal, our server was very attentive and made us feel comfortable. We sat in their outside patio as the weather was perfect and we couldn't not notice how clean it was. I should also mention that as we walked in we noticed they had a bookshelf for kids to wait for their food (seriously what an amazing idea!!) the food was delicious too, it's like heaven. When it originally opened I thought it was bland and could have been a lot better. I try not to talk crap about a local business. But.... I keep trying this place and keep getting disappointed. Today, I was by myself and was sat next to the "break" table. Their servers were "fuck this" and "shit that" for forty minutes. My server was a tad bit less than attentive. For the prices, you can go to Blueberry Hill down the street for less money and better food. And why does your automatic tip calculator start at 20%? I made a lunch order online, and came to pick it up right on time. But it wasn't ready. 10 minutes later it wasn't ready. People who came AFTER me picked up their food and left. 20 minutes later another person who came AFTER me picked up their food and left. 40 minutes later, I was still waiting. I sat at the counter, and they didn't even have the courtesy to offer me some water while I waited. 45 minutes after it should have been done, my order arrived... 3 hamburgers and some cake. So, not exactly a complicated order. A manager graciously gave me two of my three desert orders for free. When I finally got home, the food was barely warm, the fries were a mush, one order of fries was missing but that was OK, because they were awful. The cake is probably made from frozen. I'll never be coming back again. The food is strictly decent, nothing amazing. If you dine there, you'll probably be fine, but they were utterly incompetent at handling online orders. read more

Having always been a fan of the Egg & I we decided to try Grady's. First and foremost, we came for lunch and the place was packed; however, the lunch rush was ending and we were seated in less then 5 minutes. I was impressed with the extensive menu as I ordered the turkey club sandwich and my friend ordered the chicken salad. I really liked the homemade chips so of course I had to order more. Our waitress was extremely friendly and service overall was excellent with people checking on us for drinks often. The quality of the food was terrific and we were in and out rather quickly. The only reason it does not get 4 stars is that fact that once the server brings you the check you can't pay them, rather you have to pay on your way out (kinda like Denny's), considering the food is not cheap and it is rather a nicely done restaurant. While I understand they want to expedite the servers with food, it is very irritating that you have to wait for the hostess to run your check especially when you are in line with people who want to be seated and ordering takeout. There is a bartender but she was too busy making drinks. I do have to say the food, service, & ambience, are all excellent; however, waiting in line to pay won't have me rushing back..... but, if that does not bother you then absolutely try this place. read more

I like this latest version of Grady's because I am a breakfast freak and they have it available all the time. I particularly like the way you can have eggs Benedict you can split the type you get. I had one traditional and one pork belly, delicious! Every entree I've tried has been fantastic, the food here is terrific. However there are a few ways they could improve. I wish their orange juice was better, so many places have a freshly squeezed version that I've gotten spoiled. I've had their cold brew twice, it's okay but not great. I had the rainbow cake once, it was fairly dry. I love breakfast so I will be back! read more

Used to love this place when it was a Grady's Grill and decided to give it a try since it's transformation to Grady's Snack and Dine several years ago. I must say it was quite a disappointment to say the least. The food used to be upscale and quite tasty with a much more extensive menu. So disappointed to see that they didn't have appetizers anymore...They were some of her of their best dishes. My chicken sandwich was good yet nothing special. Everything seemed to be kind of run down and inside was very cafeteria like. The outside is still an enjoyable café type setting, but the furniture has become worn and things have become somewhat dingy for lack of a better word. Our server was pleasant, but seemed as though his mind was somewhere else, and he just wanted to go home for the day. All I know is it wouldn't take much to revive this neighborhood spot with a little sprucing up to give some ambience and add some great appetizers, etc...to the menu and make it shine like it used to! read more

Grady's Snack N Dine is doing something right. Both times I've visited they've had bustling crowds, cheerful employees and solid food. The best way to describe Grady's is as a modern diner. It's not trying to be kitschy, throw-back or uber trendy. The employees are personable and adroitly complete their tasks. It's a great place to go with friends because you can focus on your conversation rather than anything else. There's no super cool decor that keeps catching your eye. There's no slow service that ends up being the topic discussed. There's no unusual food that your table-mates MUST try. Grady's is one of those rare gems where it does it's job so that you can focus on what you want. You could go and read a book, chat with friends, or even share a milkshake with a date. The food is good. The first time I went, some people in my party thought that the menu item they ordered was amazing. I thought my dish was good. I went again and my friend and I didn't have any exclamations of deliciousness; it was solid. I haven't had much luck with the drinks. The Chai'd & True cocktail was kinda gross (really spicy) and I don't recommend it. I had a glass of pinot grigio last time and I didn't care for it. I'm interested in trying more of their beverages. Anyway, I'll definitely be back to Grady's. They have a party room, bar and a rewards program. I like the atmosphere, friendly service and the food. I'm always game to try more drinks. read more

Normally, I like this place. I've gone several times. However, today's experience may change that. Today, I met up with a friend to have brunch at Grady's, which has been a favorite of both of ours. When we got there, the waitress told us that there were bees outside and if we sat outside, then we can't decide to come back in later. I was at Grady's recently with clients where we sat outside and encountered a few bees. At that time, the bees were few and mostly docile. So, remembering that experience, my friend and I said okay, and sat outside. Well, when we go outside, I learned that these weren't bees, but they were actually wasps - very aggressive wasps. For the most part, while we were sitting, the wasps didn't bother us too badly. However, when our food arrived, that story quickly changed. I table was swarmed by the wasps and I got stung. Now, yes, I remember, they did give us a disclaimer. However, bees and wasps are very different. Had they said, "We have some very aggressive wasps outside that's making dining outside difficult for most customers than normal," as opposed to, "there are some bees outside that you'll encounter while you dine," then I would have made a different decision. However, my frustration isn't' about us sitting outside, and I know being stung isn't their fault. My frustrations lies with the following. 1. When I got stung, the staff ran inside and refused to come back outside. One of the waitresses acted like she was mad at me because I got stung. No one asked if I was okay if I needed anything etc. (NOTE: We went to another restaurant to eat later and while they had nothing to do with me being stung, and noting that I wasn't stung on their premises, they still offered me an ice packet to help ease my new wound) 2. After I got stung, the wasps immediately swarmed my food, making it no longer something a human wants to eat. Do you want to eat food after it's been swarmed by wasps? I only took one bite of my food and never had the chance to finish. One waitress was really nice and said I could come in and eat, but the manager, Ian, was very cavalier about the situation and said that I had to either pay for my food twice or I have to eat the contaminated food. This is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. My friend later negotiated that we leave without paying, which Ian agreed to eventually. 3. When my friend tried to talk to the manager, Ian, about me getting stung, it was his demeanor and disposition that really just gave a sense of someone not wanting to provide good customer service. He was most concerned with money. He didn't care about the customer experience or experience we had at that time. And he also communicated to my friend and me in a belittling way. 4. My friend suggested that they close the outdoor area so no one else has the chance to get hurt, but Ian outright refused this suggestion. I hate that I have to stop coming here. But Ian just made this experience so unbearable, how could I come back? read more

Grady's is a great breakfast spot hear in the Windy City. During this time of year (December), you need a filling breakfast to weather this cold. Chicago is great, but I am glad to be heading back to SoCal since this cold is really cold (not including the wind). I thought February was cold here. Grady's offers a great selection of home made breakfast items are really reasonable prices. This place was good for about a month after the remodel. Now...don't bother. The food is mediocre at best and the quality is inconsistent. They took some of the better items off the menu. Waitress told me I could buy the matzo balls from GFS myself. I'm sure all the soups can be bought there. Service is so-so these days too.
