Great lunch today at Grain. We had the potato kegs for an app followed by a Caesar salad with chicken, the birrea grilled cheese and the salmon BLT. I enjoyed the bacon and cheese potato kegs. My wife and I split the BLT and grilled cheese. Hers came with a side salad mine with shoe string fries. My son has the salad. Salmon was very good, it was vodka cured; bloodline and skin removed (+++)! Grain was pretty busy for mid-afternoon on a Sunday. Modern pub/ sports pub feel. Phillies game on the TVs. Music playing. Service was OK. My one pet peeve is allowing servers to leave dirty dishes and empty glasses on the table. And our server, although attentive, did not clear any dishes or glasses. Thank god I don't have epilepsy, the light over our table kept blinking non-stop. Plenty of off street parking for patrons. Lots of varied seating, both indoor and outdoor. See warning sign in my pics (haha). As far as prices, they are in line with any other places, as far as these other reviews that said it is excessively expensive, not true. Lunches are $15-20. Casual bar & restaurant Extensive brunch menu with unique choices as well as traditional. We were here for Easter, visiting our Blue Hen. Was able to secure last minute reservation. Not surprising, as on holiday weekends most students go home so the town isn't crowded like a usual week. Service was friendly, fast and attentive. Everyone's meals were very good, except for mine. I made a bad choice. Skip the hot honey chicken over donuts brunch item. Its nothing more than 3 chicken fingers over what tasted like a couple of dry entemann's donuts. (Missed opportunity..theres a greta bakery across the street..should get fresh glazed donuts from them. The donuts ruined the dish. Other meals were very good. Easter quiche special with hollandaise sauce and fried potatoes was delicious, although the size of quiche slices was kind of small. Burrata avocado toast was great, and so was their cheese omelette. It was perfect dining for us as we didn't want a heavy, upscale meal at 1:30 in the afternoon. Will definitely come back next time we are in town for dinner and drinks. read more

One of the few dog friendly restaurants in the area and located on Main Street. Usually when we drive by it's very busy but today it wasn't very crowded. We sat at a picnic table and first complaint was it took awhile for our waiter to come. Like 15 minutes. Not sure why it was taking so long but we were debating leaving. Anyway when the waiter did come, the drinks and food came out pretty quickly so I guess it balanced itself out. We had our two small dogs and I believe it was the manager who came and brought them a big bowl of water and then later on when our food came they also got two nice strips of bacon! Very hospitable! The fried pickles were the best I've ever had and the strawberry crush drink was my favorite. Entree I got the pulled pork Mac and cheese and it was ok. The person I was with got the steak and she said it was tender but bland, and the sweetness of the caramelized onion was too overpowering. The truffle fries were also good. I'm very much a regular, but just ate at grain with my girls and had the most incredible experience. The assistant manager treated us like royalty and made sure we were helped the minute we sat down even though he is the general assistant manager and not a waiter. We took my in-laws to brunch Sunday and the place wasn't too packed. It was a warm day, so we opted to sit at a low table in the bar area. Plenty of TV's for game watching. Tap list pretty solid. Well rounded too. Our server was super nice and patient as we all decided on what to drink/eat. Everyone loved their meals and we were in and out in an hour. Ordered some takeout from Grain that always catches my eye with their witty slogans and signs as I drive down Main St in Newark. Ordering online the menu looked very appealing with so many options to choose from. My coworker and I opted to enjoy the fish and chips with the aioli on the side along with the burnt ends on a bed of seasoned spicy rice and corn. The order gave me a small window that could be done right at the mark or 10 minute later. Usually don't want the staff to feel rush I dropped by on the later side. The food was ready for pickup and heading back to my office. The fish and chips had plenty of chips but could have done with one more freshly fried fish. My coworker enjoyed the aioli that came with it but did think that a side of cole slaw would have balanced out the meal a little more. I tended to agree with the comment especially for the price point. The burnt ends with a peach jam was very flavorful while the rice had a creeping slow heat that my coworker enjoyed but couldn't have more than a bite or two. I mixed everything in together so that the sweet jam melded with the spicy rice and corn. All in all my dish was the better dish but I would hope so with the price I paid. Middle of the road review with one dish being good and the other dish being lackluster. We will be back for a dinner at the restaurant one night and look forward to seeing what the place is all about. My boyfriend and I were visiting my sister. We had our dog with us so we were limited in dining options. Luckily Grain had a heated outdoor dining area. We started with the crab nachos and mozzarella chips. The nachos were really good. The mozzarella chips were ok but they would've been really good if they were seasoned more. I got a cheesesteak and subbed the chips for fries. My sister got a crab cake sandwich and also got fries and my boyfriend had the southern chicken sandwich with chips. My cheesesteak was ok but could've used a lot more seasoning. My sister liked her sandwich and my boyfriend said the chicken was good but the sandwich overall was just ok. Subbing fries is an extra $2.50 which is little steep but luckily they were tasty. My sister got a small side of bbq sauce for her fries and that was also $0.50 extra. I get the need to charge extra for things, but pricing seems a little high. Our server was really nice and the outdoor area was pretty warm. My sister mentioned that this place is pretty popular. Came here for lunch on MLK Monday, definitely a decent amount of people inside. We ate lunch and everyone loved their food! We had the chicken Caesar wrap, pork belly tacos, wings, short rib grilled cheese and avocado citrus salad. I was really excited about this place. The bar is a cool area to drink and while the food menu is large it's ehh. Goat cheese balls came out warm and not crunchy like typical ones I have had in other states. The bacon chicken sandwich was a good portion size for me but my husband was disappointed. Went here with my wife and daughter the night before orientation at UD. The location was proximate to both my hotel and the campus. Chris from Long Island took extremely good care of us. We ordered the fried pickles, fish and chips, lobster roll, and the avocado wrap. All were delicious. Outstanding votes for the lobster, pickles and sweet potato fries. Only minor critique was absence of tartar sauce for the fish, but Chris saved the day with the cilantro aoli. Beer selection was also top notch. My Wife and I along with our 1 year old son recently visited the location in Newark. We were surprised by sun-par service as our waitress forgot to sub our sons chicken tender order's fries with Broccoli. My meal was good but my wife upgraded her chips to truffle fries that were very small in portion and also very cold. Additionally our sons order did not come on a frisbee which was disappointing and was not reflected on our bill. 3/5 rating for good food and poor service read more

We noticed an error on our bill, after paying (overcharged for a drink) The manager was rude and aggressive when we brought it to her attention, even when we were not initially requesting a refund. The coolest thing about Grain is that you can see caricatures of people you know on the walls of the dining room. I've know several people who frequent this place, so to my surprise, an artist has immortalized them and their families on the walls. The server didn't really give us a great answer of how to get our faces on the wall (she was relatively new), but it's nice to see a familiar face. Now for the food. Nice jumbo size wings. My two young sons aren't quite able to handle the spicyness, so I asked for mild sauce. Still a little too strong for them. The brussel sprout appetizer is adds a nice touch to your meal and they would great with the meal. Good burgers, good homemade chips, nice kid's meals. The menu is diverse and I'd love to explore it more on a future visit. Hopefully, I can get onto the wall as well! read more

The ambiance is hip (mix ages) from old to young. They have the live band while we're there and happy hour is from 3-5pm M-F. Even though they're jammed with customers, food are coming out quickly. Alexia was our waitress and was very attentive and made sure that we had everything that we needed. I wasn't very hungry so I had the Meat & Cheese Board and it had a delicious fig preserve. The meat was not that good. If I had to guess, I think it was a very cured ham and overly cooked beef. It was more like a beef jerky. The smoked Gouda was standard and so was the cheddar cheese. The pickles were gourmet and were spicy with garlic. Overall the presentation was nice. My friend had the fish & chips and Brussel sprouts. She thought that both were okay. My boyfriend and I come here rather frequently and are pleased to say we are never disappointed with the food! Excellent flavors, food is served hot, and fresh produce is always used. They serve brunch as well as dinner which is a bonus, as we love their breakfast menu! There is a full bar with an extensive drink list as well. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they also offer seasonal cocktails that are delightful! The atmosphere is partially a restaurant, partially a bar scene, but also has elements of a cafe vibe! They have live music on the occasion which is fun if you are into that. The service is good for the most part; we have had some inconsistencies, but it is usually not an issue.
