This place has a lot going on, I loved it! All of their games are completely free & they have a ton to choose from. They have arcade games, darts, basketball shot game, card games, cornhole, air hockey, shuffleboard, pool, etc. all for free. It is also attached to cinder block brewery which has a really cute vibe to it. To make it even better, there is a bay boys sandwich window inside with super delicious options! Bar is 21+ after 3pm so keep that in mind if coming here with kids. It was so fun & I will definitely be bringing people back!!

Stopped in The Commons on a Thursday to grab a sandwich for lunch. Loved the atmosphere so much I brought my husband back the next day. Of course the Bay Boy sandwiches are fantastic. A very no fuss way to get a great but simple bite to eat while having a beer and playing a few games. Had a chance to sample the Commons Lager and Pale Ale. Both great beers for a hot summer day. Everyone from the bar to the sandwich window were very nice and welcoming. I love that you can bring the kiddos here during the day but then it's 21+ after 6pm. My family and friends will definitely be back.

Bay Boy has some of our favorite sandwiches in kc, so we were happy to see them in the northland!

We were in search of mac & cheese, so doing a quick search led me to Two Birds, and we settled here…read moresince my goal was to try more new places this year. When we arrived, it was a little quiet, so we sat at the bar. The two bartenders working were welcoming. One of them asked if we were there to eat, handed us menus, and then let us know what wasn't in stock. It was a little weird that they were out of chicken quarters, pasta salad (or was it potato?), burgers (maybe that's a testament to their popularity), and bacon... Thankfully, the mac & cheese was available, so the mission wasn't a fail. The plus was that it came with a side of fries, and not just any-- they were seasoned sidewinder fries, for those of you who are fans of thicker potatoes. I had the Italian po-boy, which I really enjoyed. I thought they constructed it well, and the spicy relish wasn't too much heat if you're worried about that. It was definitely the right amount of food, too. I was able to clean the plate and not regret the last bite. At this point, they've been open for 8 months, so I think they've worked out the kinks, but we also showed up on a Wednesday night, so service was great and attentive. It might be different on weekends, but I'd come back to try more things on the food menu.

Sort of an odd vibe the day I was there but could've been just that day. I was with a larger group so it was probably complicated but any time someone would order a drink a new bartender would come over looking around confused like no one could communicate to them who ordered what. They have a lot of different cocktails but no gin ones? Thought this was weird. The beer isn't listed on a menu. You have to go look at the wall behind the bar. Maybe the beers are all rotating? I wasn't sure. The food was the unfortunate downfall. I got the fish and chips. The fries were fine but the fish was a... shape. As in it was for sure frozen and flavorless. I think maybe just skip serving stuff like this and do more of a beer hall thing. I'm sure they're trying to appeal to a lot of people but because it's very much a bar vibe maybe just stick to burgers and wings? I'm also wondering if it just wasn't my vibe. So much like this already exists and there's nothing unique bringing me here.

We went there before a Knucklehead's show, which allowed us to just hop down the road conveniently. So don't overlook this if you're headed to the East Bottoms for some live music. While the food was good, this will definitely be a little better ambience with a good crew, soccer game, or weekend. Food was delicious. Pork belly bites were cooked to perfection, fries perfectly crispy, the grilled cheese sandwich was still good even left over the next day!! So, so good. With that said, I took off a star because while it was empty, the bartender was not the friendliest. We were asking about the menu, deciding between choices and he was rolling his eyes and loudly sighing, like we were inconveniencing him. Meanwhile, there were zero people in the other area of the restaurant, and all of the patrons were sitting at the bar. Maybe 6-10 max? There were two of us girls. I'm not gonna say he was hired because of muscles and being good looking... But I'm going to say customer service isn't his forté, rubbed us wrong when excited to try a new place. I absolutely hate including this on reviews. But being a new restaurant on a slow night, I don't like feeling like I'm supposed to profusely apologize for sitting at the bar.

The restaurant is attached to a hotel but had a ton of different seating options. I had planned to stay for a while, but our tow arrived unexpectedly early. The bartender and kitchen staff were amazing and changed our order to carry out, put a rush on the food, and gave us the check. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and even as take out it was so good. There was a ton of chicken and cheese inside and even some vegetables (I think pico). I would definitely return and the friendly staff knocked it out of the park!

My friends and I visited before a stand up night at the Rino Theater next door and it was a perfect stop! Plan to wait a little for drinks due to a solo bartender, but it's worth the wait. My drink, the Hola Hola Back Girl- was very unique- Jamaican Rum (1 1/2 oz) + Overproof Rum (¾ oz) + Mango Liqueur (¾ oz) + Pandan Liqueur (1 oz) + Ube Cream Liqueur (1 oz) + Lime Juice ( 1/2 oz)- I could taste the notes of all! Producing great tasting, low fluff, minimal garnish drinks is their speciality and the bartender was incredibly knowledgeable. A great stop to upgrade your liquor/cocktail knowledge and try something completely new!

The ambience is clean neat and not over crowded considering it is a bar in a liquor store. When I say liquor store I mean they carry mid to high end liquor with the unique ingredients that make your cocktail a tasteful event. You definitely will not find anything basic here. If you are a big mixology fan this is your place to taste something unique and different and the best part is the ingredients are on their shelf to buy. We sampled the fall menu with our group of 4 each ordering two different drinks each and sharing to taste. The bartender (so sorry I forgot his name) was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging with us. Just a side note- they don't serve food however two tables bright food in so that is a great option. If you are looking for a different option and experience this is definitely a place to check out. Note- they will be changing to their winter cocktail menu soon. They will be featuring "warm drinks ". If warm drinks are not your thing there is always the basic drink options as well. I love tasting so I and absolutely coming back to try the Winter menu. For those interested in Amaro liquor the serve flights so you can truly get the scope and find your preferred flavor profiles. They are not on the menu but you only need to ask the bartender and they will help set you on your journey. Last note- the prices are mid range better than most for a great cocktail. Cheers!

That changed yesterday, when Diana Condori, the bar manager, was named a 2026 James Beard Outstanding Professional in Cocktail Service semifinalist. As we love supporting restaurants and bars that receive that kind of recognition, my wife and I headed to Fern Bar that evening. I was especially curious what exactly a "sugarcane and agave bar" meant. We arrived around 5:30pm and found only a handful of guests inside. After congratulating the bartender who first served us, he mentioned that Diana was working that night and would stop by to meet us. During our conversation, Diana shared that she didn't even know she had been nominated. She woke up Tuesday to a call from owner Bryan Arri, who said he had big news and was coming over. Her first thought was that something terrible had happened--like the bar had burned down. Instead, he showed up with coffee and told her she was a James Beard honoree. Diana is originally from Bolivia and has lived in Kansas City most of her life, with the exception of time spent in San Francisco during the pandemic. She further refined her cocktail craft through local pop-ups in Kansas City under the name Condor's Cove. When Bryan was preparing to open Fern Bar, he reached out to bring her onto the team. The printed cocktail menu immediately reminded me of the Monarch and the Mercury Room--not surprising given Bryan's background at Manifesto and the Monarch. Thoughtful, intentional, and clearly designed for people who appreciate serious cocktails. We planned on having one or two drinks but ended up staying for three, thanks to an outstanding lineup and a memorable conversation with Diana. We tasted: * No Fly Zone - Rum, agave, pineapple foam * Mr. Collage - Smooth, elegant, egg-white cocktail * Three Negroni Lunch - Bitter, boozy, and beautifully balanced * Pendergast No. 4 - Complex and spirit-driven * It's Bananas - Banana liqueur with bright tropical notes * Off the Rails - Creative and well-executed rum/agave cocktail One downside of many cocktail-forward bars is the lack of food, but Fern Bar offers two varieties of mini burritos for $4--just enough protein to keep things balanced while indulging. Great concept, exceptional service, and truly memorable drinks. Check it out--and be sure to say hello to Diana.
