My husband and I love to go here during regular times on the weekends. It's a wonderfully comfortable atmosphere, with a friendly, attentive staff, and always delicious food and drinks. We have continued to go and pick up takeout, and were particularly relieved when we were able to resume purchasing Texas margaritas, which we bring home and put in our own blender. Very authentic and absolutely delicious food! Service was prompt and we didn't have to wait too long for our order. The desserts were not my favorite, just because the churros were spicy, but that is just personal preference. I understand many Mexican desserts are spicy, it just didn't occur to me at the time to ask before ordering it. The guacamole was also pretty heavy on the red pepper, but my 2yr old clearly was not bothered by it as he devoured the entire bowl of it! The service was friendly enough, not everyone spoke much English but it just added to the authenticism, so i wasn't bothered by that. We tried out Grand Azteca in Troy. This was not a good experience. My wife had a tamale, enchilada, burrito combo meal and I had Chile rellenos, burrito combo meal. Her tamale was almost like raw dough, the meat was very under seasoned, and the enchilada was almost raw as well. Part of my chile rellenos was cold and under seasoned. The chips that came with our meal had absolutely no salt on them. This was a bad experience that will last for quite a while. I don't believe I'll return here. read more

my favorite mexican restaurant! we eat here all the time! i always get the fajita burrito with chicken and it is so delicious and really filling. i usually have leftovers since they give so much food. my boyfriend gets the burrito azteca and he loves it! the chips and white sauce they serve when you first get there is so yummy as well! i love this Grand Azteca and will be coming back again soon! read more

I used to go here a lot. Then one time I went here, this waiter was eating in the booth next to mine. Then after I had finished my meal he tried to charge me $20 for a $10 meal. When I asked him why the price had increased so much, he had claimed that I was at his booth. Basically, we sat there for like 10 minutes and I was like, I'm only paying for what I ate, not for your food. The guy who did it still works there. I came back a few times, that dude still works there. The other locations are ok though. The food itself is delicious, I'm just mad because of the waiter that tried to scam me. read more

Yum! I had combination number 16 and it was a perfect sample of a good amount of good. Chips and salsa are great and the ranch style dip in addition to the salsa takes it to a new level! After living in Michigan for 30 years, I wound up taking a job in San Diego where I have resided for the last 6 years. Living literally 5 minutes from the Mexican border has resulted in me being able to enjoy some pretty fantastic Mexican food over the last several years. Now, every year I come home to visit since all of my friends and family are still here and usually when I come back someone will tell me that I have to go to some Mexican place because they have the best Mexican food evers!!! Except they never do. The food always winds up tasting like they bought some Ortega taco shells from Meijer and then had a school lunch lady make some generic tacos that are terrible. But then my friend Schuster said I should try Grand Azteca and after buying a bunch of fireworks from down the street I was like hey, why not. First of all, this place offers a California Burrito which is awesome. Now, from what I could tell there weren't any french fries in it which... is sort of the entire reason why a California Burrito is called a California Burrito but despite this, the burrito was covered in delicious cheese and had enough guacamole and sour cream on the side to make it one heck of a good burrito. I opted for the Carne Asada California burrito since, any other choice would be dumb. And the delicious food, along with the insanely quick turn around time from placing an order to receiving the food and a funny/excellent waiter are the reasons why I give this place 5 stars. Additionally, receiving free chips with salsa before the meal made me feel right at home. And despite not having Adobada on the menu, it was still a pretty robust menu with a lot of choices. Long story short, this place is great and I think my giant burrito, along with my girlfriends taco salad, and our two cokes came to about 22 dollars. Which is fantastic for the amount of food you receive and how good it is. This place is now one of my favorite places to eat in Michigan right behind Blue Nile in Ferndale. Nice work Grand Azteca. I truthfully don't know what the big deal is about this place? I have only been to this location 3 x but last time was nail in the coffin.. It started with not fresh tortilla chips. I ordered steak fajitas on the lunch menu. Burnt steak and veggies. I would not be surprised if it was reheated leftovers from day before. Razor thin strips at that. the beans and rice were good, but a portion that would be small for a 4 year old. I do not get why this is so popular. Food was horrible. Had a beef taco combo pate. One bite of the tiny taco and I knew it was canned meat. Tasted like and had the pink color and mushy texture of spam. Had another person taste it and asked, what do you taste? Immediately they said spam. It may have been canned corned beef or something similar, but it was definitely processed meat not fresh. My fiancé, and I came in for dinner last night. There was no wait around 5/6. They serve some kind of Baja-esque sauce, mild and hot salsa with their chips. (The Baja was strange and sweet).The server wasn't too friendly, but we didn't really mind. We ordered the fajitas for two with steak, shrimp and pork. That came with only 3 toritillas for a giant plate. It was annoying to have to keep asking for more. There were some flies buzzing around so I got dive bombed a few times, that made me a little uncomfortable thinking about how many might be in the kitchen, but nonetheless everything was decent. When we were ready for the check, the waiter brought it to me instead of my fiancé which I don't REALLY mind, it's 2018. I pay often, but I thought it was kind of awkward and tacky. He stood there waiting for our money so I just laughed and gave my man the check since it was a date on him this time. If it was a first or second date though, this would be SUPER awkward for a lot of people. TLDR: the waiter was a little strange, but the food was ok. Will probably go to the other location on mound because they're much more personable. Unfortunately not extraordinary. Pretty high price for low quality meat. Just missed the mark for us. read more

One of the worst Mexican food I ever tried. I wanted to give zero rating if possible. What they gave me as Enchilada had bad smelling and tasting chicken in it. The tacos given to my wife (I was told) were very bland. The rice given was hard. Only the beans were good. We went there 45 minutes to closing. Didn't have time to tell them and get our food replaced. So, had to eat it and paid 25$ ! I believe they know that they are giving shitty food, from the expression of cashier when I mentioned about our dissatisfaction. Poor quality food at a high price. Should have read all reviews before trying this place. Will never ever go back. Oaxaca in Troy or Carnival Market in Auburn Hills are half the price compared to here and 10 times the quality. read more

Absolutely loved the food. Service is expeditious. My favs are the lunch taco salad, chicken enchiladas, fajitas...pretty much everything is delicious. Downside: no changing table in restroom for small children. Can change on counter, but not a very sanitary option :( read more

Service has been awesome every time we go. Margaritas are great. The shrimp fajitas are amazing and the best part is they don't use mushrooms as one of the veggies they sizzle them with. The guac is good too, but I always add more lime juice, because I am silly like that. I am sure I always miss happy hour, but apparently this is the place to be for happy hour.
