I came here for a going-away and usually detest buffets but I left full and impressed with the variety of food. It is your standard Chinese food buffet with some random American entrees tossed in there but actually everything I ate there was delicious. Its also cheaper than other buffets I have been to. The servers are very polite and accommodating. Its also very clean inside so it doesn't feel like what I normally expect when i eat at places like these. Grand Buffet in Centre Pointe North Charleston are not following guidelines for public safety, I observed two small children without PPe masks getting food from buffet and no one said anything to them and one Gentleman without gloves which is supposedly required, this was during a slow time. I've been dining with the fine family at Grand Buffet & Restuarant for more than thirty years. Back when they were on Rivers Avenue. I am well pleased they are back open due to the Coronavirus. The food is as superb as it has always been. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Always ready to help. This is my fav chinese buffet restaurant..I need to get here more often...I don't really care for crowds and traffic which is what Tanger Outlet by a Walmart and Sams is all about.. I'm not a buffet fan either, but as long as I bring my sanitizer along I can get by. Outside of the busy location, this is a pretty quiet,clean, well organized restaurant with excellent chinese and american food choices for dinner and dessert. Staff is friendly and attentive. Of all the Chinese buffets in the area (and for some reason in Charleston there are way too many of them), this one seems to be a level about the rest. Considering the "Buffet Factor" of Chinese restaurants, the food at Grand Buffet seems just a bit fresher, and better prepared than at other places. For the money you get pretty much anything you can imagine and most everything is great. Needless to say, I do avoid seafood at buffets just because seafood setting out (especially shellfish) under a warmer, is not a great idea. However some people love it. The Mongolian BBQ cooked to order is always wonderful and simple all you can eat (safe) sushi like California, tempura and Philadelphia rolls are there as well! The buffet food is always great from the pepper steak, to the various chicken choices as my vice is their fried chicken wings, but they also have baked which are great as well. From the Egg Foo Young to the Soups to the Potstickers and so much more, you will get your money's work and the restaurant is always very clean and they are always replenishing food so you will usually get hot, right out of the kitchen food. I love the place and for the money, always a great deal as you can get whatever here, even crinkle cut French fries and fritters. There is a small salad bar as well along with a small desert bar. Not from this area but j have family i come and visit 3 times a year. So husband and I wanted Chinese!! So don't get me wrong good service but truthfully food was not great at all. They had a variety to choose from. But food was not tasty at all. It looked like a lot of the food was just sitting there from earlier. My favorite things to eat From Chinese restaurants are there fried rices and Mongolian beef and I have to say there beef was the worst. Even the texture of the meat was kind of iffy. A pretty good deal. Only $11.00 for real food when you compare to a fast food meal full of artificial flavors and preservatives at $9.00. And the food is already prepared so there is no long waiting while it's cooked. The food on the steam tables were also kept very fresh. This is one of a few Charleston restaurants that I ate in that did not automatically add the gratuity to the bill. You can dine in or carry out. And the carry-out is a flat fee, not based on weight. Though there was a slight language barrier, the staff was as friendly as can be. I enjoyed the selection of foods, especially the Honey Chicken Wings and the cheese filled fried Wonton. They had some sushi and would do a stir fry with the ingredients you chose. The owner was very humble and did not stand out as if she was the boss and was not above doing the dirty jobs, which is probably why the staff was so friendly. Ate lunch here today. Location was clean. Had 'Mongolian BBQ' and it was very good, perfect level of spice and heat that I had requested. On my second trip, I had some pepper steak from the buffet. Beef was a bit cold, but still had a good flavor. Was well cooked. The spring rolls were good and hot. Service was good. Overall a very good meal for the price. $9 with a water to drink + tip. This place is reasonably priced and has all of your standard chinese buffet treats. They have a very good hibachi station, limited sushi selection (although they do have a fried roll that is above average!), good beef, chicken and shrimp options even at lunch. You can't beat $8. This place seems to cater to people who want Americanized Chinese food because they do have mac n cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza sticks etc. but their Chinese options are good. There are a ton of construction workers that come here for lunch which should be a clue that this place serves hearty amounts of food at a good price. Vegetarian review: Not a HUGEEEEE selection. At 1st I went to the buffet and only could pick from like 4 things to eat. And Im not picky at all. The tofu vegetarian delight was crap. The other things were ehh ok. The sugar doughnuts were awesome hah. The spring rolls were good to. So after just taking tow bites, I left that plate and went to the hibachi grill area. Food was good for the most part, very wide variety and the sesame chicken was great for the price. Service was second to none and pricing was fair on both sides. I don't understand the reviews that criticized certain staff as everyone I encountered was very welcoming and treated me as family. If you have been to Chinese Buffets before, you know what to expect here. Nothing special, but enough variety to satisfy everyone and quantities to eat yourself sick. On the upside, they do have soft serve ice cream, and a growing selection of "American" food such as ribs, corn and mashed potatoes. The big secret is the Mongolian BBQ in the back where you build your own plate the way you like, which for me is lots of beef and shrimp with zuchni and mushrooms, freshly cooked and flavored. The service was good and attentive and everything was clean, but the food just wasn't hot. There is a special place in my heart for hole in the wall, average Chinese food. This place delivers. While the food here isn't top quality, it's rather tasty. I have a weak spot for the deep fried creamed corn balls. Seriously, they're delicious. They also have a banging espresso chocolate cake thing. Get three slices.
