Clean and quick service. Food is Sysco.. taste like Applebees, tgif, dennys if you get my rift. Mass produced and lacking nutrients.

Convenient and acceptable are the words I would use to describe the Grand Cafe. We dined here before a show at the GSR and not doubt of the convenience. We dined early, roughly 5:30pm for a 7pm show. There was no wait and was quickly seated. The menu is diverse, offering your standard burgers and salads, but also offered a short list of Asian cuisine, which was an interesting surprise. The Asian food was passable but far from authentic or even flavorful. That said my wife ordered the burger. It was quite good. The fries were excellent. I may have sampled one or two. I ordered the Bowl of Chili. When I asked the waitress what she thought of the Chili, she replied "I'm not really a Chili girl, so I'm not a good judge but people order more burgers than the Chili". Err...okay. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. What the hell, how bad can it be, he says... Much to my surprise the Chili was quite good. A solid blend of beef and beans. The flavor was actually pretty good. I would order this again. Served with a side order of minced onions and sour cream. You won't confuse the Grand Cafe for fine dining, but you can't beat its convenience.

This evening (11pm) we chose to grab a bite @ The Grand Cafe open until 2am on Saturday evenings. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and the music was vibing from the DJ nextdoor at The Crystal lounge. Each of us enjoyed our late night eats. 1. Grilled Chicken Sandwich w/sweet potato fries. 2. Grand Burger (M) w/ff 3. Pesto grilled cheese w/FF *Wine & Spirits available. *Keno while you dine * Mimosa Daily Special Hours: Fri & Sat: 7a- 2am Sun & Mon: 7am-Midnight Tuesday: 7am-11pm Wed & Thurs: 7am-Midnight FYI: This spot is typically packed for breakfast!

We were seated promptly. Our sever was nice and pleasant. She gave me time to review the menu. There's plenty of seating. Very nice old Hollywood, but modern decoration. Food was good and plentiful. The kids menu was a great value. $10 for 2 pancakes, an egg and hash browns. I got the same thing but the adult size and it included two bacon and two sausage For $24. The hashbrowns were made perfectly. I did have to wave down our server for a few items on different occasions, including a spoon for my coffee and creamer, butter for the kids pancakes, so make sure you ask for these upfront so you don't have to wait. Overall, nice breakfast

First off the hospitality is great! Kell is amazing 100/10 service. She's such a gem and was so sweet the entire time. She gave my family and I recommendations on the food and kept it real. We decided to go for the chicken noodle soup, creamy cajun chicken and shrimp pasta and the grand cheeseburger. The burger was an 8/10, chicken noodle 6/10 and the pasta 9/10. Very good food but the service was the star of the show, would come back simply to get served by Kel again.

This is my second review for this place within a few days. That is to thank Claudia for an amazing service during our morning breakfast and special thanks to Terry for serving dinner. Terry did not just accommodate my request but was very helpful with menu and suggested a yummy item. She is very soft spoken and very professional. I appreciate her. Ty Terry for making my boring evening fun.

Two years later and we're back. Same great food. Same quiet and quaint ambiance. Same great service. We were ironically seated in the same table as two years ago. Food and service were even better this time. I love the updates. Hubby had chicken quesadillas and I had sante fe chicken salad. It definitely hit the spot after being on the road. Thank you Sierra.

There aren't a lot of breakfast options at GSR, especially if you're a vegan. Our server was very sweet but didn't know how to help a vegan find options on the menu. I ordered the caprese avocado toast without mozzarella, a side of hash browns, and a side of refried beans (which might not even be vegan). The toast looked beautiful. I was excited to eat it. However, when I went to cut into it, the bread was barely toasted, so it was super soft. That's just not the texture you want for toast covered in avocado, balsamic, and tomatoes. The hash browns were pretty good, just under salted. The refried beans arrived with cheese on them, so I had to scrape that off, but they tasted fine as well--again, just under salted. My husband really enjoyed his breakfast though--country-fried steak with over-easy eggs, dry marbled rye, and a side of applewood-smoked bacon. Our food arrived really quickly, which was great. Since this was the first day of our mini vacation, I'm sure we'll be back for breakfast. I'll try ordering the avocado toast extra toasted next time.

The grand cafe is good for a quick bite. It is your typical diner style food. We ordered a side of bacon, sausage and 2 eggs. The bacon and eggs were very good but the seasoning in the sausage was a little over powering. The plating also looked thrown together and sloppy. We also got the Sierra slam combo which was good. My wife enjoyed the pancake and bacon but also thought the sausage seasoning was overpowering. The amount of food you get in this meal is a great deal. Our server was very nice and did a good job. Overall I would come back here for a quick breakfast.

We had another opportunity to dine at the Grand Cafe because we were staying at the Grand Sierra and watching another concert in the Grand Theater. We initially headed to the Buffet but the line was too long and we had a concert to attend still; so, we headed to the Grand Cafe. When we approached the hostess station, our 4-person party was fortunate enough to get seated immediately at a nearby table even though the restaurant was moderately crowded. The bus-person immediately took our drink orders (unfortunately I didn't get his name). Then our lovely server, Cherry Ann (according to her name tag) appeared to take our food orders: spaghetti and meatballs, a Corned Beef Reuben sandwich, Fish and Chips and a Cafe Club sandwich. Everyone mostly enjoyed all their meals; the bacon on the Cafe Club was a little tough and the onions with the Reuben sandwich tasted odd. Every time I bit into a ring, I didn't get a taste of the onion, it felt more like it was a battered onion rind (if that makes any sense). Other than that, the rest of our dining experience was pretty great: the tasted good and was well-seasoned, the portions were generous, the price was still on the high end but at least all our orders were correct and arrived with a minimal amount of wait time. We finished our meal with plenty of time to go to the concert. The service was the best part of our dining experience, Cherry Ann, the young man who was the bus-person and even the food-runner were all exceptionally attentive and friendly.

The food, service, and place are always great. The ambiance is family-friendly. That's why we spend our Sunday morning eating breakfast at the Grand Sierra when we visit Reno.

We were greeted by hostess Julie, who was warm and welcoming right from the start. I really appreciated that the staff acknowledged the birthday without us even having to mention it. Our server, Mary Jane, already knew, which was a great touch (likely from reservation notes which, honestly, was a refreshing change from a past experience at Peppermill). Mary Jane was excellent--attentive, consistent, and on top of everything. Even with how busy it was, she made us feel like we were her only table. Chloe, our food runner, kept things running smoothly. The atmosphere was lively with trivia night and team competitions going on, which added a fun vibe. They also have outdoor seating available. Food was good overall. The birthday boy loved the Crabfest! Tried their sampler platter and Lobster fries both were just okay. Our shrimp came out overcooked at first, but they quickly corrected it and the second round was great. The seafood pasta, fish & chips, shrimp, and poke tacos were all decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Service is definitely 5 stars. Food is closer to 4 stars--but still a solid experience overall.

Upon arrival, we were sat immediately and greeted by our waitress. The restaurant was clean, bright, and had very few occupied tables. The service from our waitress was non-existent during our stay even though there were very few tables requiring service. She was at our table to greet us and take our drinks, and to take our order but that was it. We had to leave our table to find her to get drink refills and to ask for our check. To drink, we ordered the Churchill Sour and the Blueberry Mojito with a shot of the house rum (it's a virgin on the menu). The Churchill Sour was well balanced and complex. The Blueberry Mojito with a shot of house rum was anything but good. It tasted like straight soda water...even after being mixed at the table. I did order a 2nd one later on and did 2 shots of the house rum and specifically asked for the bartender to mix it and it did taste slightly better. I was shocked to see that on the bill that EACH shot of house rum cost almost the exact same as the Churchill Sour! To start the meal we ordered the crispy calamari. Not only did this come out barely warm and chewy from being overcooked, but it also came to our table with our main courses (I specifically told her that this was our appetizer and we wanted it out first). For our main courses, we ordered the fish and chips, the warm lobster roll, and the lobster philly cheesesteak. The fish and chips were delicious. The fish was light, flaky, and flavorful. The lobster philly cheesesteak was a good surprise. I was on the fence about seafood with cheese, however they complemented each other nicely. The meat was seasoned to perfection and cooked to beautifully. The fries that came with the fish and added onto the philly were the HIGHLIGHT of the meal! They were crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, and the seasoning was on point. The warm lobster roll was just ok. The lobster was ice cold (the butter it came with to dip it in was cold too) and slightly overcooked. The roll was also lacking all flavor and seasoning. Sadly, during our time at Chickie's & Pete's we were not the only table that had these or similar issues. We watched 2 tables walk out before ordering as their wait time for drinks and/or to be greeted was pushing 20 minutes after being seated, other tables actively searching for servers, and heard several complaints from nearby tables about food quality. Unfortunately, I think we may be taking a break from Chickie's and Pete's for a while when we visit GSR.

It was not busy since it was a Sunday so we sat down right away and then a waiter came over to give us water. Our waiter came by shortly after that to see if we wanted drinks or appetizers. I ordered a nice glass of chianti red wine from Italy and my friend ordered the spritz. We also ordered the French onion soup to share. Our drinks came out pretty quick along with bread and our soup. The drinks were great, the soup was one of the best French onion soups that i've ever had. Our waiter came back to check on us and told us the specials. We ended up ordering the 24oz ribeye and the side of lobster mac n cheese. Our meal came out right on time after we finished our soup. When we showed up, we asked if we could sit at a table outside, the guy was a little overwhelmed, he said "I can sit you in 10 mins". I said "can we have this table". OK, but....just know I'll be with you as soon as I get caught up, I'm totally fine with that I said. . He bought us a couple menus to look over. Then a table on the railing with shade opened up, I didn't care about the table was dirty with dishes, so we decided to move. I love to look at the river and watch the people go by. The server said, I'll be over soon! He was never so happy when Sierra showed up to help him out. He came over to our table I said "I hope you don't mind, I moved to be in the shade, I know I'm one of those pain in the ass customers". Then he started joking with me and it was the perfect ice breaker. My server and part owner's name is Casey! He is an awesome guy and such a hard worker to ensure his customers are taken care of. I love that. We had a couple beers, he has quite the selection of beers on tap, he supports the community breweries such as Lead Dog and Revisions. My husband had the breakfast burrito $13, it was huge with homemade tortilla chips with salad and guacamole. I had the fish and chips. You get three large pieces of fish, fries and yummy coleslaw. I love how they put the tater sauce and ketchups in personal cups for you that shows class. My fish was absolutely delicious better than the old Smees and especially the new location. You get a nice meal for $20. They have indoor, outdoor, bar seating. They have a little merch area and a gaming bar if you feel lucky. I know the Open Championship Bowlers are in town, if you're looking for nice comfort food "tavern style" location this is the place for you on the Reno Riverwalk 50 N Sierra. It upstairs.

Unfortunately, this second experience was even worse. We visited as a group of four during the Reno Wine Walk. One person in our group does not drink alcohol, and we were explicitly assured by the Home Means Nevada company at the starting location that every participating bar would have non-alcoholic options available. When we asked, the front desk guy grabbed the manager and he informed us we'd have to pay full price for a non alcoholic beer. He then went on an entirely unnecessary monologue about how the business makes "no money" from the wine walk and claims they do it out of the "kindness of their hearts." We completely understand the economics of a wine walk, which is exactly why we checked beforehand to ensure our non-drinking friend would be accommodated. No other bar on the walk had an issue with this. Hoping to salvage the afternoon, we asked if we could sit down for food (since the restaurant was slow). The front desk guy gestured to the menus and said "I mean sure" and told us to grab menus and seat ourselves. The menu stack happened to be under a host's phone and keys. While holding our items and wine glasses we tried to pull out menus, as he watched us struggling to grab them as our hands were full and a hosts personal items were on top of the stack, we knocked over a glass. As we scrambled to help clean up and keep the host's items from getting wet from the spill, the front desk guy sarcastically snapped, "Uh, can I get those back?" as if we were trying to steal the employee's personal belongings. As working professionals in the local community, we were highly offended by how we were treated. There is a severe lack of basic hospitality, kindness, and respect here. We will absolutely not be returning.

Harris Ranch beef, local fried egg, perfect acids from the kimchee and pickles and superb bacon rounded out this organic burger But the fries really made the meal to the point where i ordrred a second order to go with my second pint! Service was top notch, too This restaurant is worthy of a Michelin Star!

88 dollars for two plates and a drink. Incredibly high priced. Walked in blind on that one i guess…read more I was hungry and wanted to give it a shot. I will start by saying my sandwich and beer were tasty and good. They will boast all local ingredients, but 30 bucks for a cheese steak on ciabatta bread is steep. The burger my wife had was the same price and nothing special to note exept she ordered no tomato and it came with tomato. Both of our fries were soggy and cold. A draft beer for 16 dollars is also more than expected. Our bartender was professional and chatty. He did pull a nice bottle of tequila down for us to admire, and told us about some other fancy top shelf stuff they had. I appreciate they were even open. Service was great, everyone looked taken care of. The place looked clean; and the food looked great everywhere, ours just flopped. All of the other patrons there were probably late 50s and up at 2pm on Memorial day. This is one of the most expensive underwhelming lunches I've had ever had in Reno. I am sure if we had said something they would have given us new fries, but that isnt the point. You have a price set well above average so I expect that it will be executed suprbly.
