Found another gem in Williams! I love me a good sandwich and man did this place blow my mind! It is a cute little sandwich spot in the heart of Williams off Route 66. Has indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great and everyone was very friendly! It appears everything there is made from scratch and love. From their teas, Mac or potato salad to desserts and of course their sandwiches. Simple, plentiful and satisfying! They have coffee and pastries so we could not pass up an opportunity to try that chocolate chip cookie that looked as big as a steering wheel! Well not that big but definitely so good soft and delicious. I went with my work crew and we ordered a Yavapai, Pima and Havasupai sandwiches. I really enjoyed their homemade iced tea and homemade Mac salad. I personally had the Pima which is their pastrami and rye bread. The mustard dressing in the sandwich really gave it that extra uuuummmf you are wanting out of a good pastrami. The bread was nice and toasted too adding a nice crunch contrast with each bite. My co workers sandwiches looked so good as well. Somehow we ended up ordering and extra sandwich and took it back to the cabin. You know it's a good sandwich when we wake up in the morning and one of them was asking whom ate one half of the extra sandwich we had in the fridge last night . We pulled in here around 12:30pm on Saturday and they were pretty busy. Melissa was taking orders and helping in back; I think there were only 2 of them. She was apologetic about the wait and very nice. We ordered the roast beef hoagie with no pickle and extra mayo. It came in a multi grain roll. It was a really nice Sammy! Cute patio for outdoor seating as well as plenty of space indoors. Food was very good as was the service. Got here around 11am to order some sandwiches for lunch, but they were sadly out of soup, since it wasn't ready. That's a little odd since it was 11am and they opened at 7am. However the cashier said only 3 customers had come in so far. I got the Havasupai and my partner ordered the Bright Angel and mac salad in lieu of soup. The Bright Angel is a classic sandwich with turkey, avocado and other fixings. To me, it was a bit dry. But the mac salad was delicious, I think they used cream rather than mayo so it's more liquidy and well seasoned. I really liked my Havasupai, it's bright and fresh and assembled well. It's something I would assemble for a build your own sandwich as a DIY Italian sub. Decor is pretty Western, as is most decor in Williams, with emphasis on global travel and world maps in the bathroom. I like the wood cabin walls, it's a nice rustic touch. read more

Gateway Sandwich is a gem in Williams. I can't suggest them enough to anyone passing through or staying a couple days in the town. FOOD: I ordered the Havasupai (Italian) sandwich and it was soooo delicious. The roll was soft, the meats were tasty, the veggies were fresh, and the cheese was great. The Italian dressing that comes on it was flavorful and overall just a GREAT sandwich for a fair price. I additionally ordered a side of Macaroni Salad. HOLY COW that's addicting. Just the right amount of dill and flavor that makes for an amazing little side dish. The food here is well worth trying and priced just right. SERVICE: Service was very friendly and helpful.
