It didn't look like much when we pulled up but the ambiance is great inside. It's more upscale than you might expect. We had a couple drinks but I opted for only the Caesar salad (with added chicken). It was excellent but the triangles of croutons(?) are a miss I think. I'd prefer something more flavorful and crunchy like traditional croutons if given the choice. The dressing will make it or break it, and it was "made" with some yummy dressing. Service was excellent and it appeared to be a mainstay for quite a few locals, which is always a welcome sign. read more

I frequently stay overnight in Grove for work, and I have tried Grand Lake Public House 3 times now. I am honestly so surprised at how good the chef/menu is for such a little town that's really only busy in the summer. I always sit at the bar since I'm alone, and I've had great service from a super nice lady bartender once and Jason twice. They are so nice and have great recommendations. The menu changes up every so often, and they have great specials. The food is always really delicious and elevated. It's small and cute inside and tastefully decorated. I highly recommend the crab cake. It rivals anything I've ever had over seas or ocean side. I love that they have small plates, which are still big portions. Everyone loves the Irish egg rolls, but I still need to try those. They use Akaushi beef for several dishes, and it's great quality. I tried the bread pudding tonight for dessert, and it could have used a little something fresh like berries or whipped cream or something to elevate it a bit more. I'll definitely be back for more. I'm grateful I get to eat there on slow winter weeknights compared to the crowded summer crowds too! read more

This little place was a great find! We were looking for something unique to the area. Every single person who took care of us was friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. (& I'd guess it is mostly a local spot, friendly patrons as well!) In my opinion they had an excellent selection of wine, though I had a beer with my ribeye. I saw two of my all time favs behind the bar; Caymus and Stag Hill. We had ribeyes (which were good) and awesome mashed potatoes. They had homemade bread pudding on the menu which is my husband's fav, but we were too stuffed to attempt it. It's located in a small strip mall, we almost couldn't find it. We were greeted walking into grand lake public house with a skull and cross bones on the door that looked like a deceased chef with a knife and fork for the cross bones. It was humorous but did not quite fit with the described "fancy" dinner we were expecting. We were able to find seats immediately even though we did not have a reservation. It is a lot busier during the summer, so I would recommend reservations then. Ambience...the look of fine dining but the bar was not separated from the dining area. Also, a tv had been mounted on the dining wall possibly for the bartender to see. The service was amazing. Multiple people making sure everything was perfect. Drinks immediately refilled. Best service outside of chick fil a (obviously a joke) The food was good but nothing amazing. Fairly priced but a bit on the high end for the area. I had the rack of lamb. (I wanted the elk but it was not available...I was a bit elked about it). It was good and surprisingly the Brussels sprouts were amazing. I would definitely be back. I is small. But the service is good and the food is good. I did have them but my friends said the Irish egg rolls were the best they ever had. The shrimp cocktail was interesting, not what I was expecting. I ordered the special which was grilled perch with rich pilaf and Brussel sprouts, the perch tasted like cinnamon so I was not a fan, the rice was delicious and the Brussel sprouts were just ok. The drink orders were messed up, but the manager didn't charge me for mine and corrected it, because I needed mine with diet soda. Overall the experience was worthy enough to go back. If you ever find yourself over in Grove OK around Grand Lake, I recommend this place! By other Yelpers, I found this on my app when we were on a day off drive. Took us a minute to find it, not realizing it was in a strip area behind a business. *Highly recommend reservations as it's a small popular place We did not and sat at the bar in the last two open seats available. They have a full bar with tv's playing sports. The menu was short but some amazing sounding entrees-pan seared walleye, elk steak, lambchops, ribeye, pastas. You get the idea. My husband had the chicken parmigiana on linguine and a side of sautéed veggies (squash, green beans, mushrooms, etc). Very good! I opted for a wedge salad. It was good though I would have liked more bacon. We started with a baked Brie which was yummo. It had cranberries in it (I think) and served with crostini, homemade Parmesan chips and thinly sliced apples. Next time we are out driving around near Grove, I'll be back. read more

Honestly, wow. What a disappointment. This place took 30-40 minutes to get us our waters when we arrived at the restaurant. 45 minutes to an hour for 2 beers. The bartender told us to sit down when we asked for our drinks. There was one waitress on the floor the entire duration of our meal. Multiple things were forgotten about when we requested them. The shrimp linguini was watered down with no flavor. Our burger was brought to us on a MOLDY BUN. Literal MOLD GROWTH. So disgusting and they scuffed at us when we showed them. We could overhear other tables complaining stating they needed silverware, had waited too long on drinks, and even watched people walk out. This place needs some serious help. We had a very nice dinner here while in town camping at Honey Creek. Honestly we were way too underdressed as it seemed like the locals dressed up a bit to eat here. At least more dressed up than my shorts and tshirt. The staff was very friendly as well. We started with the perfectly fried calamari. For our entrees we had the filet and the shrimp pasta. Great quality food, reasonable prices and better than I expected for a small town. My only complaint is that being called a public house made me think they'd have a larger beer selection than just a few basic options. read more

This was my 3rd trip to this restaurant. Usually the service is really great - but tonight I brought my son and his family and every portion of the meal had an extremely long wait. Long wait for drinks, long wait for refills, long wait to order and long wait for the food. We ordered the special, which was the Seafood Platter. It was good - not outstanding. The Chilean Sea Bass that my daughter in law got - she said was wonderful. My son had the lamb and he said it was good, but very tiny. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and and there were about 7 tiny shrimp. Not exactly what I had pictured. I'm assuming this was just a bad night as they had a lot of people there when we first arrived, but by the time we finally got done - we were among the last. I will definitely give it another chance, tho. read more

The flavor of their crab cakes is phenomenal. It is perfectly balanced with crab meat and a little spice. It's no fishy, and sauce was a welcome addition. I'd definitely order it again! The shrimp linguini had big shrimp in it that I had to cut in half. Wonderfully fine pasta and yummy, light sauce! The ribeye was a strong 8/10, being a bit tougher than my husband liked. Good flavor, cooked well, nice and thick. It was just a little overdone than the medium rare he'd requested. Overall, I loved the English pub feel, personable staff, and relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful bar/restaurant. The waitress was very helpful with navigating the menu and was very friendly. I had the shrimp po boy and fries which was phenomenal (maybe some more shrimp would be appreciated) and I tried the beef Wellington (absolutely fantastic!) and the chicken Parmesan. My husband and I walked into Grand Lake Public House tonight at around 8:30, without reservations. We were still offered to be seated with a short wait (they were busy and bussing tables) or an immediate seat at the bar, we decided to sit at the bar. I ordered a mixed drink and my husband ordered a beer. Our bartender was wonderful and so friendly! We enjoyed chatting with him! We both had the shrimp linguine for dinner and it was excellent. We're looking forward to coming back soon to try the prawns and chicken parmigiana! read more

We love the Public House. This is the type of place where the owners (Mark and Jill) are always circulating around the restaurant visiting with guests and making sure they have a great experience. Mark is also the chef and creates some amazing dishes. The ribeye is delicious and so flavorful. We also love the pork chop which is always juicy, well seasoned, and delicious. The chicken parm is fabulous, the sauce is spot on and the chicken is always crispy. The specials are always superb. My favorite thing to do is have the chef just create something for me. I leave it up to him and he knocks it out of the park every time. James runs the bar and is a friendly and talented mixologist who offers amazing handcrafted cocktails. We actually eat at the bar most of the time and always get great service and fabulous food. read more

Back in a little strip mall out of sight. This is a nice little startup. We have been here a couple of times. I hope the Coronavirus doesn't mess them up. They are one of the best places in Grove and try ultra hard. Their food is good. We are sheltering in place and waiting until things have cleared so we can come back. For a brand new establishment in a small summer resort town I wasn't expecting much..... Well let's just say I found my new haunt! The food is excellent! Nice menu variety, nice presentation and best of all excellent taste. The Ribeye was perfectly cooked, the scallops succulent, and the sea bass I now know why it's a customer favorite. The wine selection while small was eyebrow raising! Let's just say the last time I had Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz by the glass was 8000 miles away at a high end steakhouse. One doesn't expect a $50 bottle of fine Australian Shiraz at $9 a glass and it won't last long as long it's I keep going there! read more

We came in on June 15th. We had the same experience as Karissa B. Same order except we had the spinach dip. The spin dip was fine and my seabass was fine, but my wife's scallops were extremely overcooked, so chewy she almost couldn't swallow them. They made that squeaky sound between your teeth, I tried one. Also, when I order any risotto, I expect a creamy rice that doesn't hold it's shape on the plate. We love the menu and feel it should work in Grove, we were just disappointed in the execution. For the price, I expect something better than what I can cook at home. read more

Like the above reviews the atmosphere was nice and the wait staff was friendly. But the wait on the food was very long. Three of us had the chicken parmesan very bland. Served with bread and some nasty dipping sauce and 2 stalks of asparagus. The price was 14.00 and you dont even get a small salad. The chicken was frozen you could tell by the breading. My son who loves great food said he has had better chicken parm from a TV dinner. His wife had the mushroom swiss burger with fries. She said it was good. But the fries were frozen and for the class of restaurant they are trying to be and prices, nothing should be frozen. Everything should be fresh and homemade. read more

Nice place to eat in Grove. For the area a top 10 place on my list for sure. Great atmosphere, small, good beer, wine and bourbon selection. Service was great, which in this area or guess now most places is becoming harder to find. Table had the chicken parmigiana, fish and chips, lobster linguine and all were good. Only thing that prevented me from a 5 rating were the side brussel sprouts were a little to soft for my taste. Will be on our list for return visits! read more

WOW! Our dining experience was sheer excellence! I am visiting family in the area and we just happened upon GLPH for dinner. I admit we arrived in a bit casual attire but this place was anything but casual, I willing venture to say the place is upscale, a well appointed decor and quiet atmosphere was a pleasant surprise. Laura was our server, she delivered a very nice selection of the chef special after kindly seating us. We had the bacon wrapped prawns for an appetizer, they were quite delicious. For our entrees we chose the ribeye and shrimp linguine, of which we split with each other... the ribeye was perfectly prepared and seasoned, the shrimp linguine was just as divine as everything else! We ended our meal with the bread pudding, it was excellent. When we first walked in the mood was great. Low lighting, flowers and candles on every table, we were seated immediately. Fairly small place, but the seating at the bar takes up half of the area. The hostess and wait staff were perfectly friendly. We tried to order calamari as an appetizer and they didn't have any prepared, we chose not to try any other option. I tried to order the lobster manicotti, they had also ran out of that. I chose the Sea Bass. It was cooked fine and seasoned nicely though it was half of a filet. It came with 2 stalks of asparagus and a half of a cup mound of over cooked mushroom rice. My husband ordered seared scallops. The flavor was great, the texture was not. I am a big fan of scallops and these were very chewy. His dish also came with 2 stalks of asparagus and the rice. We were very disappointed with the food. First thing, we arrived at this restaurant without a reservation on Friday night. Knowing that, I left my wife in the car and went to the hostess and inquired if they were seating without reservations. The nice lady said yes and I went to tell my wife. We arrived back inside and waited for about 5 minutes for someone to show. Shortly another official lady asked if we had a res. I told her the other lady said they would seat us. The official lady didn't like it but they seated us. IT is a very small dining room very well appointed. The bar it has was busy and looked well stocked. It was easy to see that the two servers knew a lot of customers and continually visited. We sat there for 20 minutes and no one so much as offered us water. We decided to leave and the official lady walked up behind us and "in a very tacky voice wished us a good evening". Don't waste your effort. Felt like we were iced for showing up without a reservation. Btw, we left there and came to Shebang where the very overworked staff got us seated.
