Shockingly bad... even by very low Santa Clarita standards. Haven't visited Grand Panda in a long time (10 years maybe), but as it is the closest "good" Chinese restaurant on this side of town thought I'd give another try. Saturday night about 8 pm... place had a fair amount of diners, one of which I heard say to staff on the way out "Great dinner as always!". Perhaps different dishes were ordered, perhaps some sort of luck was involved, or most likey (since this is the SCV) this person has no clue what good Chinese food can and should be. Now I'm certainly not expecting historically great Chinese food like The Mandarin or the original Hunan restaurants (both in San Francisco) or even SoCal places like Yang Chow or (especially) Chengdu Taste, but Grand Panda served me among the worst "Chinese" dishes I've ever had. In all seriousness Panda Express is better for what they serve. Pre-cooked sickly looking bland Pan Fried Dumplings (pot stickers), and Three Treasure Sizzling Rice soup (with what really seemed like canned chicken broth), Volcano Shrimp (perhaps an homage to Yang Chow Slippery Shrimp) with an unexpected and ridiculous tableside flambe (the tastiest dish of the evening but still not very good), and something named like Pan Fried Noodle on Sizzling Plate (beef, chicken, shrimp, scallops, and veg), again a ridiculous tableside production of putting the fried noodle cake onto a cheap thin (not cast iron) heated metal plate, and literally pouring a stir fry dish on top of the noodles. Very little sizzling was observed. This was the most amazingly bland Chinese dish ever. Now for something that was even more stomach turning, the waitress took the pieces of food (shrimp, beef, whatever) which missed landing on the "sizzling plate" AND PUT THEM BACK INTO THE DISH from the big serving tray of unknown cleanliness setup tableside. I am not easily disgusted at all but they managed to do so. The last indignity was that because Grand Pando is using some fly-by-night credit card processing setup, they returned to the table and asked for my bank card PIN. Needless to say it was not revealed to them. Unbelieveble. Zero stars from someone who knows what he is talking about, Now in regards Yelp promoting some reviews and downgrading others, I do not use Yelp on mobile (so they can't spy on me) and since they have no GPS data showing I visited Grand Panda, Boom! my review is downgraded. Don't fall for that stuff. One more thing. Though this is being posted on April Fool's day this is no joke. read more

Bland. Blanf food, bland flavor, definitely not enough seasoning. I ordered beef and broccoli and beef soft noodles through Grubhub. The beef and broccoli had extremely watered down sauce and the beef had no flavor to speak of. The beef noodles smelled promising, like garlic, but again, they were disappointingly bland. Both the beef and the noodles have virtually no flavor. The slices of beef are nice and and lean with little to no fat, but the lack of flavor makes it unpleasant to eat them either alone or alongside the noodles and broccoli. The noodle texture is quite pleasant, so I think I'll maybe save them and re-stir fry them with some garlic, salt, and parmesan, and it'll probably be fantastic. The portion size is quite large, so I'll probably have enough leftover noodles for two meals tomorrow. For the price of the food, I was expecting better, to be honest. I've had more flavorful beef and broccoli, and much tastier noodles from Panda Express. read more

Basic chinese in the SCV...the better spot is across the street and behind this place!! But if that is closed, e.g. on Christmas night and you are too lazy to cook, this is the only spot! Nothing I would write about here, all pretty traditional American Chinese food. Service was pretty slow on Christmas night despite them taking reservations. They were totally unorganized. The food was terrific, but management is cheepo and unworthy. They left out of my to go bag one of my half-eaten dishes and when I called them on it a couple of days later they said that it was too late and that they don't prepare half orders. And, when I offered to pay half price for a full order so they could replace the delicious dish that they didn't pack for me, they wouldn't. So, don't trust them, and be sure to open their bagged-up leftovers and search your to-go bag before you leave the joint. They are not honorable! And the place is so busy that it can't be a money issue with them. They're simply cheap and unworthy of your or my business. So somewhere else. Shame on them....and I am a regular customer, but don't plan to continue to dine there. They aren't worthy....and it's too bad because the food is better than ever. read more

Wow I am so appalled! HORRIFYING! Not only did my soup have someone's short hair in it..I ordered the Sweet & Sour Pork...it came with red onions. I am allergic to red onions and kindly asked the waitress for an order without the vegetables (which includes the onions) she told me that she is not the cook and she cant send the food back because the cooks will be mad at her. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!? I AM ALLERGIC PERIOD! All I asked for was for food that wouldnt send me into an allergic attack and send me to the hospital. How dare they put someone at risk due to a food allergy just because the kitchen will be mad. She refused to fixed the order so I refused to eat somewhere where they would rather send a customer to the hospital rather than fix it. JUST HORRIBLE! I had lunch here last week. The broccoli beef was very good. It had first opened. Tonight was a different story. Ordered $70 worth of food. The cashew chicken tasted awful. It had a funky smell, like dirty socks. I tried this restaurant because another Chinese place the noodles smelled funny, and were slimy. The rice was dry as a bone. What you get: an option of egg drop soup or sweet and sour soup, a salad with shredded chicken and pieces of fried won tons, an eggroll with veggies and shredded chicken, a cup of fried rice (no veggies or egg) and your main dish. I didn't love the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was white meat which I thought was great however it lacked of seasoning. Nice seating, booths are kept clean, floor is always kept debris free. The food is full of msg unless requested to be kept free of it. That limits quite a bit of the menu. I ordered a pick up on Sat. 1/12/19. It was delicious!! I opted for the salt and pepper shrimp (be aware that you will have onion breath if you order this), soft noodles and wor wonton soup. I usually order this when I eat in. This is my first time ordering for pick up. It was really ready in 15 minutes like they said. I got there and the food was packed amazingly well, you can tell they are pros. When I got home, which was in about 12 minutes, the soup was still hot and the shrimp and soft noodles were at a perfect temperature. I highly recommend if you want to impress friends or family at home. I have tried other dishes and they never let me down. read more

The tradition lives on... Every year on Christmas eve since I was knee high to a grasshopper, my parents have been taking my brother and I to this restaurant. Without fail, again this year, it was the same choices--Wontons for the appetizer, Sczheuan Beef, Lemon & Honey Chicken, and Peking Shrimp. We're a loving family yet quite quirky. My brother and I will make fun of each other & pretty much everything else in the world for the duration of any public experience together. Our parents listen & wonder how they created two amazingly weird yet handsome kids (or so they think).
