Normally I avoid buffet-restaurants at all costs. I always find the food terribly sup-par. Today, however, I allowed myself to be coaxed by some coworkers to join them at the Grand Super Buffet for lunch. I'm surprised the establishment's name doesn't include "China" somewhere, but I suppose since its offers more than just Chinese food, it's a bit more accurate. To me, however, it really is a chinese buffet that also offers typical american food. The space is large, the tables and chairs are cheap but sturdy. Exactly the same furniture found in 90% of american chinese restaurants from the 80s, except the color scheme is not as bad here. There are 6 islands of food, one dessert, one salad, and the rest have assorted cooked foods (at least 12 dishes to each island). Sushi and "sushi" rolls are provided at a wall-attached counter. Well, I guess the geography doesn't matter much. The people: clearly eaters come here. Seeing a skinny person is not impossible, but, obviously, they are by far in the minority. It actually makes me kinda sad when I see people so obese that they can hardly get up to the buffets, but I also see them taking many trips with heaping piles of food. The endless supply of food must be a good motivator for them to get up and walk .... it's sick, I know. The food: I am not really sure I know where to begin. Again, its all terribly sup-par. Nonetheless, the chinese food dishes are emptied quickly. As a quick example: I will usually eat any kind of pizza (even bad pizza is better than no pizza ;-) but this is not true here :-(. The lunch buffet was $6.99 + tax, drinks are extra. (Dinner prices must be more.) They say there is an inverse correlation between weight and wealth. All you can eat for 6.99 helps to reinforce the actualization of the correlation. Please, please, let me never return here, or to any other buffet (except for brunch or breakfast). Zero stars. The initial smell of dead fish should have stopped us at the door but we were starving so we blamed it on the fountain. I don't normally leave reviews but I'm trying to stop you from making a huge mistake. Wegman's dumpster contains better food than this place. If anything but curiosity for how gross food can get makes you walk in here, be prepared for disappointment. I gave it the benefit of doubt and tried some things but couldn't stop many of my favorites from coming right back out of my mouth and onto the plate. Nothing is labeled correctly so you get the ultimate guessing game, your prize could be fish that's still looking at you posing as chicken wings. If you like pigs feet and other oddities, maybe just maybe you would like it here...but the dining area also looks like they walked the pigs through before boiling down their tootsies and dumping them in a steam table. Be prepared to share the sauce too...if you want to drown your dish to gove it any kind of flavor, the community soy sauce is located by the sushi which I cannot review. There is an endless supply of unhealthy food as far as you can see, but if you are a college student looking to fill up for the weekend, this is the place. However, this was the choice for a networking event, so I went fearing the worst and it wasn't quite that bad. Nothing was delicious, but nothing warranted going back for the same thing twice. Keeping in perspective of Chinese buffets, this one was one of the better buffets I'd visited in quite some time. I'd been here several times before over the years. The fact that they've lasted for so many years is a statement in itself. This time I was here for a quick lunch. They have quite a large variety of Chinese style, American and even Japanese foods. From sushi to egg rolls to chicken on a stick, there's enough to feed a small army. Many steam tables which were well attended with the exception of the peel & eat shrimp which ran out and was never refilled. The stuffed shrimp was a bit too dense with a pork meatball type stuffing. It's a buffet... Not much NEEDS to be said about it, but I'll say it anyways. 3 stars because it's 50/50. Yes, really. The pro's - You can eat tons of food. On the weekends (Fri + Sat), the food goes quickly, so it's fresh. I've eaten here several times and never had a problem with getting sick like other buffets, so in terms of buffet over all, if you're going to be a proud american and eat 5 plates of food, this is the place to do it. The variety is pretty huge, and quite impressive. From mac and cheese, to bok choy mix, to meat dishes & fruits / veggies. Whatever you're in the mood for SOMETHING will satisfy it here. The Cons - If you are going there for crab you'll be horribly disappointed when you realize that there will be a few full families camping that crab for dear life, each time they bring a new dish of it out, one or two people will plop it all on their plates and be done with it. I've never seen that dish full longer than 30 seconds. The sushi is very bland. It's not to say it's horrible. But it's about the same quality you'd get from wegmans. Not good, not bad. Just somewhere in the middle. If you go on a day that isn't Friday or Saturday you're brave. The food is generally left out a bit longer and doesn't have high turn over due to limited customers. This is a buffet however, and you can't really expect them to keep tons of fresh food to feed 2 or 3 tables. It's perfectly reasonable, but, still should be mentioned. The 'whatever' fact (Not good, not bad...just whatever) - It's ~12-13 dollars. Look at that how you will. That's a very good price if you go all out and eat a ton of food. So i have been to this location numerous times...i would say out of 10 visits, 3 of those visits were "excellent"....Which is why we kept going back. It's not just that the food is awful and cold and tastes like yesterday's leftover, it's not just that the place is smelley like an open-air fish market, it's not just that the place is super overpriced, they are extremely rude. They made us change our seats three times (with my elderly mom) across the whole f-ing restaurant and demanded proofs that we have paid already in the middle of our meal (they makeyou pay as you enter, so it was unnecessary). We still tried to eat the food because we had paid and were famished from a long travel - and failed ... and trust me when I say this, I have never tasted anything worse and tasteless than this. There are 4 rows of food to choose from, and it varies from American foods such as pizza, hot wings, and crab legs to what you would expect from a typical Chinese Buffet. Not just a Chinese buffet. Not just a grand buffet, but a GRAND SUPER BUFFET! The name says it all, and yet it says nothing other than leading you to believe there will be rows of fried food lathered in butter and most likely fried. With that imagery in mind, Grand Super Buffet (hereby known as GSB) doesn't disappoint. There were certainly rows and rows of food that came in shades of glimmering reds, yellows, and oranges, with a few spots of green mixed in (gotta keep it healthy right?). I wish I could remember what the inside foyer looked like but I was quite distracted by the holographic depictions of scenes from the bible displayed a long a table. We were whisked to our seats, waters were set at the the table and then we were piling food on to plates. GSB follows the trend of a Chinese Buffet offering sushi as well, and it also follows the trend of the sushi being mediocre (does anyone really attend a buffet expecting high-quality sushi?). Expect a few variations of rolls with fake crab, and some ebi that looks a bit flat. Here's the thing with GSB: it knows what it is and it works with it. For about $7.00, I had an all you can eat buffet where my water was always filled up, empty plates were cleared incredibly fast, and the food was worthy of a $7.00 buffet (not mind-blowing, but not amazing). My lunch buddies at work are two guys who have appetites as big as mine so there are plenty of days where we're looking for a big meal for a small price and GSB provides that. Will I come back next week or next month? Probably not, but I'll keep it in mind for the next time I'm craving a meal of gluttony. read more

I've never eaten here and I never will. I work at one of the businesses within that plaza and I've witnessed on several occassions their cooks inside the dumpsters in the back of the building. They are wearing their work clothes, including aprons. Went here for dinner on a Thursday night , after trying the other two Chinese buffets in the RIT area. Price was $12 and you get 6 rows of food. Food was pretty average , you got ribs, clams, Chinese food, and a selection of sushi and grill. Service was average but everyone was nice. Place was quite empty and quiet at 7 pm. Overall this is a decent location for students and adults and children. Have yet to try this place on a weekend so I can't describe the extras they will serve on those days. Price and quality is average so try it out and see for yourself. Their Ice Cream selection is 8 different types. I've only tried their vanilla and it's good. BOL folks read more

Coming to the actual food part - well, I've been to buffets before and I usually hog onto everything - appetizers, main dishes and desserts. This time, I just had the appetizers and desserts (a lot of them) . While they two were delicious, the main dishes weren't so great. The rice was bland, so were the noodles. The soups - I've tasted better at other places. The sesame chicken was dry, but weird at the same time - probably soggy. Clams weren't that great either (I threw them away).
