Since moving to Columbus from Connecticut, I've been searching for good pizza. Nothing in Columbus so far is as good as the pizza in New Haven, but I have to say that Grandad's is pretty close. My wife and I went one evening on one of pizza searches, and we were both pleasantly surprised. If you want carry-out, just go directly into Grandad's. If you want to sit down and have a drink with your pizza, go into Byrne's next door. It's a neighborhood bar with a neighborhood feel to it. We loved it. You can order any of several Irish beers there and order your pizza from next door from the same bartender. It's the marriage of Irish and Italian that makes anyone from the Northeast smile. We ordered a large pepperoni and onion pie. It comes cut into small squares, which is somewhat odd, but easy to eat. It's a thin crust pizza with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. The one thing that kept it from being perfect, in my opinion, was that the crust was a little too stiff. Other than that, it was great. And the large (I think it was 14") was the perfect size for the two of us. I recommend Grandad's Pizza, as well as as Byrne's Bar, if you're in the neighborhood. Even if you're not in the neighborhood, take a little trip over to Grandview and try them out! I will again! read more

Worst customer service and all around establishment in the Grandview area. After not receiving my online order for 3 hours, I decided to call the restaurant. I was greeted with "we're no longer taking orders" and hung up on. After this happened to me 3 times, I decided to get food elsewhere and I would worry about my refund in the morning. About 5.5 hours later I receive a call from the manager telling me an item on my order is no longer available... Long story short, go somewhere else. read more

While I love Donato's and I have to celebrate them on their 50th anniversary year, I discovered Grandad's Pizza 3 months ago and I haven't been able to order from anywhere else. It's similar to Donato's with the thin crust and the not-too-greasy cheese, but the flavor is excellent. I'm never disappointed with the staff, the service or the product. They are open late and deliver until 2am, unlike a lot of the pizza places in town. You can also order from right inside of Byrne's pub. This "Grandad" is a smart dude :o) read more

I just don't understand the hype of this place. They put way way too much of their nasty sauce on their pies. The sauce tastes like they just opened a can of tomato paste and dumped it on the pizza then spread it around. It had no seasoning and the tomato paste flavor completely overwhelmed the entire pizza. I had high hopes for this place from all the good reviews but I would rather eat dry, cardboard Papa Johns pizza than eat another grandads pizza. read more

I live in Grandview and this pizza never disappoints. It is my go to. The crispy flaky crust is one of the best in the city and they don't cheat you on toppings. No place to eat at the actual shop but they pass it through a window at Byrnes pub next door and you can enjoy it there. Also delivers to Grandview theater. Good stuff read more

This is for their Italian Subs: the bread was light and crispy, almost like a pizza crust. Generous amounts of meat and veggies. My only negative was I wish they would make their own Italian dressing . Their pizza is excellent as well. read more

Best pizza in Grandview. Dough is light with a subtle crunch (similar to Donatos), only fresh. Cheese is exce. The only thing keeping from a five star is the sauce buildup near the edge makes it hard to hold and I don't care for loaded sauce. UPDATE: had the chicken bacon ranch pizza. It's 11/10. It is nice to stop in to a Local place like this. Especially when it is pizza and not from Dominos, Pizza Hut or Pappa Johns. The guy at the counter was great, the food was pretty good. I would probably return. I gave 3 stars instead of 4 for a very good reason. It is cool to be a dive place, but man oh man, how about cleaning the place? While waiting to pick up the food you get to look around. With each minute passing I found more and more gross things going on there. Molding falling down off the ceiling, and a floor that looks like it was last cleaned in the Reagan Administration. Me & my fiancé will drive 2 hours and we will not leave without a couple of pizzas from Grandad's. He loves it and it's not even the way pizza is made where he grew up. He's addicted to pizza and says himself that Grandad's is the best that he has EVER had. I have ordered from Grandad's 20 times according to my receipt. Second bad experience in a row. I had a free coupon for a 1 topping pizza from the last time, when I ordered I called and asked if I could just pay for extra toppings. "Of course" she says. I order a pepp, mush and banana pepper pizza. Sounds delicious right? Each topping is 1.50 and I also order a sub, perfect. My pizza arrives, and guess what's not on my pizza? Cheese. You know what's NOT listed as a topping on the menu? That's right, cheese. Second time in a row, the printed menu has been the problem. Apparently. Otherwise, it was good enough to order 18 other times in 2 yrs. It's not as good as Cowtown, which offers better toppings. Just seemed like kind of a dick move not to put cheese on it. Grandads is similar to Donatos as far as the thin crust and how they cut their pie. We typically pick Granddad's over Donatos to support small businesses even if it is a little more expensive. They always have coupons or deals on their website. If you do pick up there is a street parking and a small on the right after you pass granddads to run in. Also, delivery is fairly quick in my experience. A solid pizza place if you're not looking for anything fancy and just a thin crust pizza! read more

I thought this place was okay. A few pictures that I saw made it look like a specific small local chain from my hometown and I was PRAYING that it tasted similar. It didn't. The crust was thicker than I anticipated, and while I DID ask for extra sauce, it was absolutely dripping in pizza sauce. I'd eat their pizza again, but I wouldn't specifically order from here. I'd say it was slightly above average. It WAS a good value, though. read more

Apparently the place is under new ownership/management, so issues in the past may no longer be relevant to the current situation. This is as of 10/11 from what I've heard. If you like Donato's try these guys out. It's Columbus style pizza. Thin, crispy, very flavorful pepperoni and really good cheese. Their attention to customer service is top notch. I had a very minor issue which they apologized profusely for. They fixed the matter quickly and courteously. The driver wouldn't even take a tip for the free order! The true colors of a business shine through when they have to deal with a problem, and these guys know how to treat their customers.They've definitely earned repeat business from me. read more

The first time I ordered from Grandad's the pizza was pretty good. However, it increasing became worse and worse. The main problem was the pizza was not cooked thoroughly and was almost like slop. This happened to my friends and I at least twice. I have also had there subs and bread sticks which were also not very good. I would look elsewhere for your pizza cravings. read more

These reviews are way too low, and as Ive had Grandad's probably close to 100 times I felt the need to chime in. First of all, you guys need to make sure that you ask for your pizza "well done", as this will take care of the pizza sticking to the box issue. They will also throw in crushed red pepper and/or grated cheese if you ask. This is some of the best pizza in town imo, and pretty well priced. The Italian sub and hot sausage sub are also well worth checking out. I usually go for the large pizza, half pepperoni and mushroom, half sausage and extra cheese. This is hands down the best pizza place in Grandview. Best pizza AND best service. They're extremely friendly on the phone and when they deliver. Great customer service. I have to say, sometimes the way a business handles a mistake is much more indicative of how they operate then how they handle the day to day easy business. I work at a local business that orders from Grandad's all the time. We love their pizza, and they are prompt and friendly. Today we ordered and there was a very understandable mix-up. They were courteous and prompt in fixing the mistake, and still managed to deliver us hot food on what is likely one of their busiest days of the year. I was in town for work and ordered a pizza for delivery from them and it arrived exactly when promised. Being near the OSU campus, of the 4-5 times I've ordered pizza from different restaurants, this is the only one who's delivered on time. Also, I had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It was very hot and tasty. None of that sweet buffalo sauce from these folks, this pie was spicy! My mouth and lips were numb after a few pieces! This is your basic thin crust, cut into squares pizza. When I first moved to Grandview I lived about 30 meters away from Granddads so I grabbed it quite often, especially when I found myself at Byrnes late at night. They also have good tasting subs if you get tired of their pizza. My one problem is that they, at some point seem to have changed their sauce, its tastes much sweeter than I remember, I think that's what contributed to me going to Cowtown more often, which was also across the street. (At least at that time). Overall, it's your basic cheap, local pizza, better than Massey's (sp?) but not better than Cowtown. But do not let me be the one to tell you, try it out for yourself. read more

I didn't fall in love with Grandad's Pizza. I ordered a mushroom and extra cheese pizza. I found it to be very average. The crust was soggy and seemed slightly undercooked. The sauce was OK, but the pizza was way too greasy in my opinion. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered extra cheese, but with all of the other good pizza options in Columbus, I don't think I'll try to give it another shot. read more

Grandads is our go to when we want to get a pizza. Now that they have a location inside The Pointe Tavern, it's even easier for us to get it. I've yet to have a bad pizza from any of their locations, it's always the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, & toppings. It's thin crust & manages to not be too greasy, ever! If you're looking fir reasonably priced pizza that tastes amazing, then do Grandad's! You will not be disappointed! read more
