Well worth the money! We wanted to grab breakfast on our way out, so we stopped in shortly after they opened. We were seated immediately. By the time we left, the place was packed. I ordered a 2 egg breakfast with hash browns with cheese. They let you choose between bread, biscuit or pancake which is awesome. So obviously I got the pancake. My husband got the chicken fried steak, which is what he orders anytime we go to a country cooking style place. He was more than happy with his choice. I was amazed at the bill. $21! Neighborhood spot is an understatement. These locals and workers were family!! Yes it's Grannies cookin' and kitchen talking- I heard so many yes ma'am, yes sirs from the patrons (young and old) and employees- real nice to hear!! I sat at the bar so I could get the whole feel. These workers are non stop so please don't get sensitive when they can't hold a super long conversation with you- they have food flying out the window. Their food is fast, hot, and yummy! The sweetest elder lady was my waitress- I feel she's been there awhile- everyone knew her and she knew everyone! Even with me being a new face she made her little funny remarks to make sure I was ok - just like at my Grannies!! It's always fun to find the spot where the locals eat - we made a decision to find a breakfast restaurant before heading back home to the east coast after looking at the spread at a local hotel, trust me sometimes you need to avoid the free complimentary breakfast bar. Of course being an active yelper I knew the options in the area and no I didn't close my eyes and pick one I actually read the reviews prior to making my decision. It's always nice to see that familiar Yelp friends have blazed the trail before you arrive or at least it is for me. We arrived on the early side and the parking lot that others have pointed out as challenging was only partially filled but the entrance was mostly underwater and of course I had just washed Roxy (the Jeep) go figure. We walk-in and I felt like a celebrity, it's seems it's definitely where the locals eat and nearly everyone in the restaurant turned their heads and I even got a shout out from a server and like she promised she was right with us. We were seated without a wait and my coffee arrived piping hot, strong and delicious and with real half & half. The menu and menu boards read like a novel, I not one who struggles with making a decision but with all the options available it requires some focus. It wasn't really that difficult since I'm a traditional breakfast person who rarely strays or is tempted by anything outside boring. Our server was efficient and outgoing and I could tell she was thinking "it's not that difficult" so after her stopping by for the 3rd time I was ready to pull the trigger which seem to thrill her. Two eggs over medium, grits, toast and country ham less the red-eye gravy which I highly recommend you don't follow my lead on that choice I love country ham but besides being extremely salty it was Mojave desert dry but still delicious. She decided on a veggie omelette of course which I think completes the food pyramid and it's only 7:00 AM and some home fries it looked delicious esthetically even if it didn't have meat on the plate. Grannie's Country Cooking was true blue and amazing southern food. It makes me want to go back and change my 5 star ratings at other places to 4 stars, because the bar has been raised. This is truly a "where the locals eat" kind of place. We ordered a variety of different meals at our table and I tasted them all - smothered chicken, meatloaf, chicken tenders, and multiple different sides. Everything, I mean, EVERYTHING was beyond good and made from scratch - you could tell. The server was friendly and the service was lightning fast. Might have been due to its proximity to the manatee festival, which we learned about while there haha. We had various omelets, chicken fried steak, breakfast sandwich, BLT, a little of everything and it was all good. Loved that pancake was an option for toast (or biscuit or toast). They were super good and we didn't have to decide between getting a sweet or savory. We also got harassed and called out by one of the waitresses who looked like grannie herself, me for wearing a puffy jacket in Florida and my dad for using a knife and fork to eat his BLT. Here for the first time as we were on our way to visiting family about 15 minutes from here. Dottie and I are from Naples. My sister Janet from St. Petersburg (posted our picture) The breakfast we three had was great tasting and a generous portion. Bottomless cup of coffee and we were very pleased as it was our first time there. I only had pictures of my one dish. But here is the BEST part. LORIN was our server and it started with something funny she did about giving me my wife's pancake that she declined. We were fortunate to get to speak with her about it, had more laughs throughout our time there. LORIN was very professional, personable, funny and a pleasure to have met her for our short time there. She was great. This was a memorable breakfast because of our interaction with LORIN. Went here because our go to was closed today. 1. The greeting was "take a seat anywhere!" Kind of in a smoked too many packs of unfiltered last night at the bar kink of way. 2. After taking a seat and wiping down the table from a sloppy previous wipe, we waited. And waited. And waited some more...just as we were going to leave, our "server" threw the menus at us and disappeared again. 3. After a five-7 minute wait she manifested at our table and proceeded to be impatient as we made our selection. 4. Drinks come. 5. After a 20 minute wait our food arrives...mostly cold, some like warm. 6. The sausage which is turkey sausage (not on menu) and is pretty crunchy and dry. 7. After we are what was edible (not much) the server decided to try and get a bigger tip by changing her attitude for the check presentation. 8. After taking back two plates full of cold food, she never asked if we had a problem with the food. 9. Paid bill, left a cold tip, wiped the dust from my feet as I left this dump! Stopped in based on the great reviews and the reviews were spot on. Took a seat at the counter and was sipping a hot cup of coffee as soon as I sat down. Breakfast menu had a decent selection and I opted for Grannie's Supreme 3 egg omlette (ham, cheese, onions, green peppers, and tomato) I picked the homefries and the biscuit which made for a perfect meal. The restaurant seemed quite busy and despite that, my meal came out really quick and was able to enjoy my coffee while it was still hot. Service was great and was welcomed as if I were a local. All in all, a really solid meal. Definitely a great establishment that all the locals go to. I also ordered a chocolate chip pancakes to go which were also tasty and devoured by my son who opted to sleep in. Despite being packaged to go, they were still good. I have relatives that are local here and on every visit they've recommended this place and we finally made it in. Doesn't look like much in the outside, but hits the spot and is right off the highway. Small parking lot that was pretty full when we arrived. We were told about 15/20 minute wait, and able to wait in the AC of our vehicle thanks to the "buzzer" instead of standing out in the heat since the restaurant was full. Got called in within about 10/15 minutes. Service was quick and efficient. You can most definitely tell this is a locals joint with its down home vibe and easy going staff. The country ham had a lot of salt for my taste, but everything else was enjoyable. The white sausage gravy had a nice consistency and flavor, Albright the biscuit a tad undercooked.
