After spending the morning at Three Sisters Springs checking out the manatees, we worked up an appetite and stopped in for lunch at Grannie's Restaurant in Crystal River -- and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Grannie's is a cute little diner with simple décor and classic comfort food. Nothing fancy, just the kind of place that feels welcoming the second you walk in. Our waitress, Trish, was an absolute pistol -- quick-witted with a slightly sarcastic edge, and I loved every minute of it. We had great banter back and forth, and she made the whole experience even more fun. There were four of us in our group. The ladies both went with the vegetable soup and agreed it was tasty, though a bit heavy on the tomato flavor. One had a grilled cheese, the other a BLT, and both were happy with their sandwiches. Me and the other guy ordered the Monster Melt -- think patty melt vibes with a cooked-to-order burger patty, melted cheese, and diced onions. I had mine on rye bread, while my buddy went with a bun. We both agreed the burger meat was good quality and cooked just right. He paired his with crinkle-cut fries, and I went with fried okra because, well... when in the South, eat like a Southerner. After lunch, we shared a slice of homemade carrot cake. My wife thought it was a bit too sweet, but I say there's no such thing as too much money, too much fun, or too sweet of dessert. If you find yourself in Crystal River, do yourself a favor and stop by Grannie's. Ask for Trish, come hungry, and be prepared for some solid comfort food and a little entertainment along the way.

My friends and I stopped in to Grannie's Restaurant for Sunday breakfast before heading home the day after attending the Manatee Festival. The restaurant was conveniently located near our Airbnb. I ordered the two egg combo with sunny side up eggs, hash browns and bacon. I added toast for egg dipping and fried onions to the hash browns. I wish the onions would have been mixed into the hash browns when prepares. But otherwise everything was hot and fresh! Klaara was our friendly server and she kept my friend's coffee coming. The restaurant had a few tables, several booths and a counter for seating. It had a charming country vibe. We arrived about 9:30 AM and we were seated right away. But by the time we left at 10:30 there was a line out the door. I suggest arriving as early as you can on the weekends. They also sell fresh pastries and pies. Next time I'm in Crystal River I will stop in to Grannie's for lunch or dinner since I've tried breakfast.

We stopped here for breakfast on a Sunday morning after swimming with the manatees nearby. This place gets very busy, so you might have to be patient finding a spot in the lot. There was a short wait, but we were seated fairly quickly. The service was friendly and fast. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I always appreciate a diner that offers a single pork chop breakfast. And the portions for breakfast and lunch/dinner are very generous. I definitely recommend Grannie's if you're in the Crystal River area.

We had a great experience. Coffee was hot. Food came out very quickly. I had an omelet, kids had waffles- they weren't super crispy but they enjoyed them. Son had a cinnamon bun that was warm and he loved. Husband had biscuits and gravy and he loved that. Would return.

Great old school diner! Large portions and warm, friendly servers. The breakfast was huge and came with homemade blueberry butter. Lots of baked goods too!

Perfect hash browns! My fiance enjoyed his omelette and home fries as well. The pancake was excellent. Reasonable prices. Kitsch-y adorable diner vibes. Patti was a great server.

What a hoppin place! They close at 2, so we got there right about 1, waited 5 minutes to be seated as they were busy. We looked over the menu and placed.our orders. I got the chicken & waffles. The waffles were light and fluffy and the xhicken was very, very good!

Old Florida local place. Breakfast was delicious! Service was good. Another low key place that's very relaxed. We ordered Biscuits and Gravy and also Eggs, Bacon and Grits. Loved all of it!

We came to Grannie's Restaurant in Crystal River as first-timers... and accidentally got adopted. First -- the food: legit comfort food. The kind that makes you immediately question every life decision that didn't involve ordering biscuits earlier. You don't eat here... you enter into a long-term relationship with blueberry butter. I'm fairly certain I would now spread it on drywall if given the opportunity. But the real star of the experience was our server, Tracy. Tracy did not "serve" us. Tracy managed us. She roasted us, corrected our menu decisions, judged our drink choices, and somehow kept our coffee cups filled the entire time. At one point I'm pretty sure she made eye contact from across the room and my water refilled out of pure fear and respect. We tried to act like mature adults ordering breakfast -- Tracy immediately saw through it.She kept us laughing the entire meal and somehow ran the table like a combination of a stand-up comedian, a kindergarten teacher, and a cruise director. I'm convinced:Grannie's doesn't run on electricity. It runs on biscuits, blueberry butter, and Tracy's personality. We showed up as customers and left feeling like we just got fed at a relative's house... except the relative is hilarious and will absolutely call you out for not finishing your pancakes. 5 stars for the food. 5 stars for the atmosphere. 10 stars for Tracy. If you go to Grannie's and Tracy is your server -- don't worry... she'll take very good care of you whether you deserve it or not. We will 100% be back. Probably partially because of the food... but mostly because Tracy would be disappointed if we didn't.

great little place in crystal River. we stopped here before going on a kayak tour to see the manatees. we were in a hurry and they were very fast. ordered our food and they had it out in ten minutes. my corned beef hash was good and you could tell biscuit that came with it was homemade. my kids chicken tenders were not frozen ones and the pancakes were huge.

This hidden gem has exceptional food and service . I don't think I have had better bread pudding and I've been to London. This place is tiny with a large menu and outstanding service. I got the blackened catfish and eggs. The catfish was so delicious my 7 year old ate an entire filet. The biscuits melted in your mouth and were gone in minutes Honestly this is the place to visit in Crystal River. Get the bread pudding heated with whip cream. Thank me later.

Amazing. Spectacular. We've been talking about this place the entire weekend…read more We stumbled across Biscuit barn as hungry tourist. We were immediately greeted with a warm "hello" by a lovely waitress who put us on a 15 minute waitlist. About 10ish minutes goes by and my name was called, the place was very busy and the staff appear very attentive like they were pros at handling a little chaos. My boyfriend ordered the chicken co-op and I ordered the country eggs Benedict. These were some of the best biscuits we've ever had. This is a no frills kinda place but delicious. For 2 extremely full breakfast, a side of corn beef hash and 2 iced coffees (they even put ice on the side for us) with tip the meal was $43 and we took home half of our plates.

The grits and biscuits were delicious. The biscuits were golden brown, soft on the inside, and perfectly paired with the sausage gravy. The grits were also very well made, and perfect in the bowl! Three complaints: (1) parking was limited but definitely of size for the seats available in the restaurant; (2) the coffee was WAY too strong, bitter, and lacking normal coffee notes; and (3) they added a restaurant fee on the ticket. Still, we'd go again!

At the end of the night as we're getting ready to go back home, we went back for one last drink. We both presented valid, unexpired South Carolina driver's licenses that were genuine and in good condition. At the door, the bouncer told us they don't typically accept South Carolina IDs, but ultimately allowed us inside. When we went to order drinks, the bartender refused to serve us, claiming our IDs had "scanned as fake." When we questioned that, we were then told they didn't actually have an ID scanner. We even offered to have local law enforcement verify that our IDs were legitimate, but they still refused to serve us. We completely understand the importance of checking IDs and appreciate that businesses have to be cautious. However, being given conflicting explanations and feeling like our valid out of state IDs were dismissed without a legitimate verification process was frustrating and embarrassing. If there is an official policy regarding South Carolina IDs, it should be clearly communicated. If there isn't, I hope management addresses this so other visitors with valid out of state identification don't have the same experience.
