What a lovely local business!…read more Family owned and cute spot with great service. We came in for dinner and were not disappointed. Ordered the fish and chips obviously - one haddock and one cod. Upgraded my side to their chowder and we got a side of mushy peas. I have absolutely no complaints because i think they do it right. Chips are fresh cut fries and the fish is battered well- not oily and super crispy. We got to chat with our waitress who told us they're pretty particular with the fish they bring into the store and after eating it i believe it. We also had some leftover to take home. I need to try the Orange roughy one of these days when they have it in, because it's not everyday you see that as an option. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!

This is our go to fish and chips place. We get takeout a lot. Our older son loves loves everything…read more Only on one occasion did I find a bone in the fish. But after so many times doing takeout it only happened once, so not bad at all. Halibut: 4.75/5 crispy and then soft inside. Yum. Sometimes could be a little more tender but most times we have ordered it was perfect. Chowder: 6/5 So good. So much flavour. Mushy peas: 7/5 How do they make it like that?! Never will peas taste that good. Chips: 5/5 Great chips! And excellent gravy to accompany. Onion rings: 4.5/5 Pretty good! Sometimes the batter is a little consistent but they are good overall. Highly recommend!

Tip: There's a tip jar at the counter…read more A recent Yelp elite experience introduced me to The Big Catch in Newmarket. It recently opened a store in Markham, which I look forward to visiting. I have been to this plaza a few times over the years. I've been to the Tim Hortons a handful of times. I was at Mom's Pan-fried Buns a few months ago, which is a couple of businesses down from The Big Catch. This plaza has lots of parking. I pulled into a parking spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, efficient woman. I got halibut and chips as my main meal. I paid for a can of Diet Coke with a credit card. Tap. Done! I found a table. I caught up with some photos on my phone. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. I had to ask for my Diet Coke. She was running the entire fry-seating show, so I was patient. I finally got my drink. Yay! The halibut was a decent portion. I got a lot of fries. My meal came with a lemon slice and tartar sauce. There was also a bottle of ketchup on the table. I loved the halibut. The batter was light and crispy. The fish was flaky and yummy. I loved dunking my halibut in the tartar sauce that tasted homemade. The fries were good. Just too many of them for my liking. I dunked them in both ketchup and tartar sauce. My Diet Coke helped wash everything down. Thank goodness I got one. It was cold. I got a straw. The woman was great. She asked how my meal was while I was dining. It was a nice touch. I had to use the washroom twice. I came into the eatery after driving for 1.5 hours from Mississauga and downing a beverage. It's a single stall for everyone. It was clean, but dated. I used it again before I headed home. It's funny that I had washroom in mind when I got here that I completely forgot to grab some change to leave a tip. I went back to my car to get some, came back into the eatery, and let the woman know that I was back to give a tip. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I'd return again when I'm back in this plaza and have a craving for halibut. (373)

If you dine-in they bring the food at your table and clean up after you. Staff is very nice and patient despite it being busy. Prices are pretty standard to what it is now. Roughly $20 after tax. Got the chicken fingers for the kids with $4 extra for poutine. The poutine gravy was very salty though. Can't eat the whole thing. They also offer rolled ice cream with 3 free toppings for about $10. I would come here again if I'm in the area. Rating 3.5/5
