I love the ice cream here--tasty and well-made. Recently, had my birthday and was craving their ice cream. Decided to call first before I made a visit; you could not make a call for mailbox was full. So, I did an email and was told the flavors I wanted were available. I go there and the ice cream section is closed, Then, go to the other part--see ice cream flavors --NONE WERE THE FLAVORS I WANTED, Asked the woman when the ice cream section would open--said she can't open due to no water. I asked if she had idea when she would--said she had been waiting almost 6 weeks and had no idea when they would be there. First, if your ice cream section is closed-you should have a message that states this and have no time table for when you will be opened. Secondly. there is more than 1 plumber in this area, so why didn't they find another. I know they are frustrated losing money, but they must consider letting customers know they are not open. read more

ICE CREAM GREAT....Customer Service BAD...Not sure if it was because they were closing in a hour OR my Skin color!

I have been going here for years & years now and stopped in a little while ago today to see if "my favorite corn in the whole worldwas in( it wasn't, as I surmised but still worth a trip to this incredible fruit/vegetable stand!) but the owner assured me it should be in , a bit later in the month, for "SILVER QUEEN" corn is a "late corn!" It is so hard to find this corn anywhere( believe me, I look! I live in West Spfld., Ma but traveled all the way to New London ( vegetable stand I found one summer on the way to "Ocean Beach", in New London, Ct. I go to Granny's Place multiple times a wk when SILVER QUEEN CORN is in. Today, I bought their Butter & Sugar corn( my husband's favorite & it is fresh .... they pick it "daily", today, peppers, cucumbers, cabbage ,lettuce & you get the idea, a host of impeccably fresh & delicious veggies & fruits( strawberries & blueberries)! I go no where else for my veggies once they open. They are always so very friendly( carried my bags to the car for me, helpful & as always... couldn't do enough for my husband & I. The owner answered some questions for me & two young girls couldn't have been nicer or more friendly. I asked for a couple vegetables that hadn't been brought out yet, I got there early because I had to meet our son. The young girls ran quickly ran into the back to bring out what I was looking for & said "No problem!" Unfailingly, everyone that works here ( family run, I believe)is friendly , helpful , accommodating & they care about each & every single one of their clients! Their produce is impeccably fresh, reasonably priced & they always have a huge selection of everything. Been here many times and have always loved it! But today I went and had an experience with an employee, that makes me never wanna come back. She was basically the Mexican Karen. As soon as we walked in, she said we have to wear a mask in the store, so we put ours on. We only have bandanas so sometimes they fall off or slide down a little bit. Ours slid down a bit, just under our noses, and Mexican Karen started freaking out on us. And when I say freaked out, she absolutely FREAKED OUT. Started yelling at us how we have to wear our masks in the store and stuff very rude and disrespectfully (especially for an employee) and we told her she doesn't have to be so rude about it, and that she could have just asked nicely. So she freaked out even more telling us we can shop somewhere else then (very unprofessional). So I pointed out none of the employees (4 of them, and one even came out from the back) were wearing a mask in the store, which made her even more angry cause she couldn't deny it, and it made her look stupid, and she called someone in about it (seemed like maybe the owner?) and she was still freaking out, just not as loud cause she was in front of her boss, even tried getting some poor elderly lady involved, saying "she's my witness!" (Crazy!) and we told her (the maybe owner) what happened, and even she told Mexican Karen to just say put a mask on and not be rude. Even the other employees working were looking at this woman like she was off her rocker. We were there to spend over $100, but only spent $40 cause this employee was so crazy. This woman should be fired due to her behavior towards the employees, cause she just lost our business, and all the people I've sent there business, and she's the reason you guys lost your perfect 5 star review.
