Super disappointed. We just tried to eat there for the first time. We waited 15 min to be acknowledged and nothing. Asked one of the food runners for our own menus and waters. We then said we were ready to order but we have to wait for someone else to take our order. The one girl taking orders ignored us for another 15 min so we just got up and left. Fantastic Yelp find! We were literally just looking for any old breakfast place in between where we were staying and the highway my friends needed to get to, and lo and behold we ran across this absolute gem of a place. I'll start by saying that these folks are obviously, and rightfully, proud of their food as well as their service - and that to me is a great indicator of what to expect from a visit to any restaurant. The menu is reasonably simple and generally falls in the "traditional Southern breakfast" genre. One can find an assortment of breakfast platters, bowls, omelets, and cakes & French toast. I ended up choosing the real, "not that canned stuff", corned beef hash with two eggs over easy. Our waitress (who was an absolute delight) double checked whether I really meant over medium - to ensure the yolks are still runny, but to avoid the sliminess that can come with over easy eggs. I don't ever recall that level of attention to eggs (dare I say eggcellence?!?) at a restaurant ever before! One of my pals chose the Go Lean omelet. The other couldn't quite find what he wanted in a single omelet, and when he said that our waitress looked back at him earnestly and said "Let's talk about that!" In short order she had him hooked up with just what he wanted. When the food came out, we were extremely pleased. All of it was well-prepared and yummy. And though I could go item by item, I will just leave that coverage right there - because the meals don't need me to go further than that. I will however highlight two "details" I think perfectly punctuate the great food & service notion I started with above: 1) When they say they have a bottomless coffee policy, they mean it - Granny's absolutely runs at the front of the pack with respect to making sure your mug is kept full & hot, and 2) Toast. Yes, I said "Toast". One has to know how little I care about bread overall to truly appreciate my level of appreciation here. I generally see bread as wasted calories, unless it is truly fresh and "homemade". As it turns out, Granny's serves some kind of magic bread/toast... Out of this world fresh & delicious, and despite getting fairly full on the main components of our meals, we pretty much demolished all the rye & wheat toast that accompanied our meals. My point simply being: if they put that much care into coffee and toast, it simply follows that their main dishes are almost certain to make one very, very content. So, if you're ever in the Winchester-Berryville area, do yourself a big favor and head over to Granny's - my friends and I are pretty confident you'll be glad you did! read more

I have not lived in this area long but I found this place about a year ago and I enjoy the atmosphere, friendly people, and terrific menu. I would say the only problem I've had is my baking and not being crispy enough for me. Often times I need to send it back once or twice. Anyway I would say go there and enjoy your breakfast anytime! read more

The food was excellent! The service was also excellent, despite the fact that the poor woman working was serving, cooking, and bar tending. That seemed ridiculous. I felt bad for her. Best breakfast I've had in a long time! Decided to swing in based on Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! My husband and I both enjoyed delicious omelettes with a side of country ham. All the positive reviews are for BREAKFAST, not dinner! Did not notice this before showing up for an evening meal while passing thru town. Should have known better, no other diners present on a Friday night...only other patrons were local bar flies that were sloppy drunk, loud and vulgar (I am no prude but do not want to hear profanity repeatedly during a family dinner or have intoxicated strangers approach our table to introduce themselves and shake hands during times of COVID precautions). Food for our party came out one plate at a time for 6 people; waitress said the "grill is small". The food was nothing to rave about. The waitress was friendly and tried to make our experience positive by shushing the drunks but we wIll not risk going back for breakfast to verify those positive reviews. read more

The good: They opened up for us when they were closed. Jamie was exceptional. She obviously is the energizer bunny of the place. She was mopping the floor when we arrived, she took our order, cooked our food and came around and filled my coffee. She was great. Place looks like a fun place to have dinner. the Meh: my potatoes were undercooked. But seeing how much she had on her plate I was cool with it. The bad: nothing. read more

Food was delicious. Hash browns were really tasty with onions. Pancakes tasted homemade instead of from a mix. Bacon had great flavor.

I came here looking for something different from the ordinary. Made fresh when you order and the food is over the top. If you like home cooking this is the place to come. Traveling through we found this place and I must say it didn't disappoint. Don't judge a book by its cover is all I can say. It's a small mom and pop place, I ordered the steak bowl and it was amazing. It took a minute or two longer but I see why, everything was cooked to order and didn't leave that greasy film like most chain places do. Holy Cow! Just found my new favorite Sunday Brunch spot. While searching Yelp for a Brunch spot Granny's Public was recommended. So happy we decided to try it! So I wanted a BLT for lunch today so I called Granny's to place an order. When the lady answered the phone I ask if I could place an order? The lady responded by saying; " you're just gonna have to wait because I'm with another customer, then put me on hold. I held on for about 10 minutes she never came back. This was really uncalled for. She could have nicely ask if I'd hold and that would have been fine. I did end up getting my BLT but not from here. My husband went to Five Guys and got it and it was so good. I will never try to eat at Granny's again. read more

And, omelets cooked in a pan - double-check. The owner was present and actively working - something that always warms my small business heart. We had a great time. This will be our go to place in Winchester, VA, especially for breakfast. And, we'll try the other meals, too. We are visiting from out of town. Out of all the places we where dragged into by our family.. this was by far my favorite! The food was really good! It was fresh vegetables in my omelette vs the other places we went on our trip. Some places used Jared and caned veggies. I highly recommend this place to all who are down to earth and open minded. Great place to stop on your biker run! Wish I could take this place home with me. Newly remodeled and still smells of fresh paint. Every staff member introduced themselves including the man who prepared our food. Love the menu. read more
