Setting aside the fact this is a family small business that deserves patronage. I don't see how anyone rates this beyond a one. It's charming sure but full of workers who are bowed in morning prayer (glued to their cellphones). No one looks up. Paper bowl and plastic? The server literally dumped my bowl and wordlessly shuffled off. They were all so engaged in chitchat I had to get up and ask for things. This is a regular priced restaurant with CHEAPLY executed average quality food and no service. Today there are six workers in a chat circle behind the counter. I just don't see why anyone would come back twice. I'm going /

Cute little diner, delicious food, friendly atmosphere and great service. Came to check out this breakfast spot with a friend, and we were not disappointed! They have custom coffee cups and serve local coffee (gotta look up the name, but I checked out the coffee shop day before coming here), how awesome is that?!!! We both got the steak omelette and it was delicious! The only downside is that they use paper plates and plastic utensils, but I think that may be due to covid? Next time I'm visiting this will be on the list of breakfast spots for sure!

Grandma's Diner is a wonderful place to get breakfast in the morning in Charles Town WV. If you're looking for a more local feel and good food. It's a little cramped in the restaurant but the owners have been responsive to The CDC's Covid 19 guidelines and so they limit the number of customers in the restaurant. There is no outdoor seating but they do delivery though Grub Hub. I had the steak and cheese omelet with hash browns and rye toast. I thought it was delicious. When you arrive, you will see that's it's a family restaurant and the owners are extremely friendly. I found the prices are fair and reasonable. I would recommend stoping by to try it if you are in the area or are passing though Charles Town, West Virginia.

This is an amazing diner located in downtown Charles Town that serves breakfast and lunch. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and the prices are very cheap! I highly recommend this local diner if you are in the area.

I really think supporting local small businesses is important these days but I should have gone to McDonald's (same quality) . Went in, sat down, no acknowledge. The group of 4 that came in after me were. Few minutes later the waitress came to take my order, ordered my coffee and coke and my breakfast. My breakfast came out in literally 5 minutes but I didn't have my drinks. The girl just acted like I wasn't even there and continued to serve the other table their food and drinks. I waved her down and asked for my drinks. Then nothing after that, Coke went empty and nothing was asked about how my food was. Anyway, I hate when staff acts like it's a hassle to deal with customers who are paying for service and good food. Bacon-flabby sausage-ok eggs-broken yolk homefries-tasteless and undercooked PAPERPLATES??? Saved the best for last, if you want to get sick, this is the place to go. I went to pay, the waitress was putting some food together and wiped her bare hands on her pants before touching the computer and my debit card. GROSS! The cook lady had no gloves on and had a slab of bacon out putting it on the griddle and touching the spatchula WITHOUT washing her hands.... You can make people sick by these actions. At least if your kitchen is visible to customers, practice cleanliness please. In the end, I had to find a bathroom immediately after I got into my car to leave. Basically paid $20 to take a crap... I will not return here at all nor recommend to anyone.

If I order Jalapeños on my sandwich, and you bring me fresh peppers rather than canned peppers, you have a loyal customer in me.... I love this former 'White Castle' diner in charming downtown Charlestown WV... The food is good, the prices are quite reasonable, and the staff is extra friendly. What more could you want??

I ordered the Western Omelet with hash browns and toast. The food was great and well prepared. Hash browns were cooked perfectly, the omelet had all of the flavors I had expected, but the service was lackluster. There were two people in the diner, and I was only ask about a refill for my coffee once in 45 minutes. It almost made me feel as if I were an outsider, as it was my first visit to this restaurant. I ight come back for the food, but I will not be back for the service. Unfortunate.

That's what I recommend. Now I wouldn't say pass them by, just don't expect a top 10 meal from Alstadts, they will fill you up and that is all.

This place is right on the property for an outdoor adventure park that does tubing in the winter and river tubing/ ropes courses/camp in the summer. Being in Harper's ferry and given the neighboring business this is a captive audience gold mine for a restaurant. Sadly, we came here on a Saturday and it was PAINFULLY obvious their service capabilities could not match the customer demand signal. We started at 4PM and they were about at 50% capacity (generously). You order your own food at the bar or via QR code. This is a standard practice so nothing wrong there, but it did take us about 10 minutes to then get our drinks. The food came out within 15 minutes. Food was descent if not a little on the expensive side. Beer was fairly priced. They don't have a super large menu and they were out of a handful of things. Like for one, being out of iced tea seemed like an easy fix from my perspective working in bar/restaurant management in the past. We went and enjoyed the Christmas lights and then went back in around 615PM for a nightcap. This is where things went off the rails. The inside was full the outter tables were 40-50% taken. Overall I would say 80% of a jam packed house. We ordered 2 Irish coffees and a beer. 25 minutes later I went in to check on our drinks and the patrons faces inside said it all. The couple at the bar had been waiting 30 minutes to pay their bill, one lady got up and left because people had come in after her, ordered the same thing, eaten, paid, and left before she got her food. They hadn't even started our drinks and when I went to the bathroom I could see the kitchen order display and half their tickets were lagging, badly. From what I could tell they had 3 people tending bar/running food plus other food runners. I don't know what the kitchen staffing was. This place should be KILLING it with how they are set up location/clientele wise but I can say for certain they will take a hit on return business tonight. This place has great potential and I hope for the owner's sake this was an off night. As a bartender/bar manager watching personnel work tempo, efficiency, etc... I was screaming inside.

There was only one choice available for the first two courses, and two for the main course. We don't eat pork so we both had scallops for dinner. The food came excellent! Thank you to the kitchen!! We placed the order and the tuna steak came out excellent! However the burger was stupid raw!!!! The evening was beautiful, the restaurant was as quaint as you would expect!! The tuna was cooked PERFECT! Thank you to the kitchen staff!!! I asked for the check and paid it ....(despite the fact that the waiter disappeared for over 15 mins and I had to walk to the bar to ask for it!!) Left a tip and then proceeded to leave the restaurant and head to our car since both kids hadn't slept and it was past 8 pm (when I overheard the following...) Once again the server was kind and charismatic despite ignoring us in an empty restaurant where she had 3 tables when we arrived and two when we left. As we were walking out of the restaurant, the server, had the stones to show my signed check, with a 10% tip, as was warranted after ignoring us, serving me raw food and not coming back for along time.... (Sorry kitchen but the raw burger was on you for this one!) And she, had the gall to brag to another table of patrons, showing the receipt in my wife's face, that were taking away from her money, when she provided poor service!! I wouldn't dream of having her fired, hence the reason I'll never name her. " she might have had a bad day!", BUT I want her to learn a lesson about treating every customer with respect! My wife and kids didn't deserve a poor experience for our first time in your restaurant! Be kind. Be loving and understanding! Everyone can have hardships in life, as we all do, but if you're in this industry, be kind, be watchful and give a care about your job!! You never know the negative impact you can leave for fellow strangers, especially little children that enjoyed Harper's Ferry for the first time!
