Setting aside the fact this is a family small business that deserves patronage. I don't see how anyone rates this beyond a one. It's charming sure but full of workers who are bowed in morning prayer (glued to their cellphones). No one looks up. Paper bowl and plastic? The server literally dumped my bowl and wordlessly shuffled off. They were all so engaged in chitchat I had to get up and ask for things. This is a regular priced restaurant with CHEAPLY executed average quality food and no service. Today there are six workers in a chat circle behind the counter. I just don't see why anyone would come back twice. I'm going /

Cute little diner, delicious food, friendly atmosphere and great service. Came to check out this breakfast spot with a friend, and we were not disappointed! They have custom coffee cups and serve local coffee (gotta look up the name, but I checked out the coffee shop day before coming here), how awesome is that?!!! We both got the steak omelette and it was delicious! The only downside is that they use paper plates and plastic utensils, but I think that may be due to covid? Next time I'm visiting this will be on the list of breakfast spots for sure!

Grandma's Diner is a wonderful place to get breakfast in the morning in Charles Town WV. If you're looking for a more local feel and good food. It's a little cramped in the restaurant but the owners have been responsive to The CDC's Covid 19 guidelines and so they limit the number of customers in the restaurant. There is no outdoor seating but they do delivery though Grub Hub. I had the steak and cheese omelet with hash browns and rye toast. I thought it was delicious. When you arrive, you will see that's it's a family restaurant and the owners are extremely friendly. I found the prices are fair and reasonable. I would recommend stoping by to try it if you are in the area or are passing though Charles Town, West Virginia.

This is an amazing diner located in downtown Charles Town that serves breakfast and lunch. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly and the prices are very cheap! I highly recommend this local diner if you are in the area.

I really think supporting local small businesses is important these days but I should have gone to McDonald's (same quality) . Went in, sat down, no acknowledge. The group of 4 that came in after me were. Few minutes later the waitress came to take my order, ordered my coffee and coke and my breakfast. My breakfast came out in literally 5 minutes but I didn't have my drinks. The girl just acted like I wasn't even there and continued to serve the other table their food and drinks. I waved her down and asked for my drinks. Then nothing after that, Coke went empty and nothing was asked about how my food was. Anyway, I hate when staff acts like it's a hassle to deal with customers who are paying for service and good food. Bacon-flabby sausage-ok eggs-broken yolk homefries-tasteless and undercooked PAPERPLATES??? Saved the best for last, if you want to get sick, this is the place to go. I went to pay, the waitress was putting some food together and wiped her bare hands on her pants before touching the computer and my debit card. GROSS! The cook lady had no gloves on and had a slab of bacon out putting it on the griddle and touching the spatchula WITHOUT washing her hands.... You can make people sick by these actions. At least if your kitchen is visible to customers, practice cleanliness please. In the end, I had to find a bathroom immediately after I got into my car to leave. Basically paid $20 to take a crap... I will not return here at all nor recommend to anyone.

If I order Jalapeños on my sandwich, and you bring me fresh peppers rather than canned peppers, you have a loyal customer in me.... I love this former 'White Castle' diner in charming downtown Charlestown WV... The food is good, the prices are quite reasonable, and the staff is extra friendly. What more could you want??

I ordered the Western Omelet with hash browns and toast. The food was great and well prepared. Hash browns were cooked perfectly, the omelet had all of the flavors I had expected, but the service was lackluster. There were two people in the diner, and I was only ask about a refill for my coffee once in 45 minutes. It almost made me feel as if I were an outsider, as it was my first visit to this restaurant. I ight come back for the food, but I will not be back for the service. Unfortunate.

My favorite spot in Charles Town. Reasonably priced food and the staff are courteous and quick. Reliable quality of food every time I go.

Serviceable diner, food. I did ask for my eggs over easy and they came well done. And the paper plates and plastic ware were not optimal.

David and his crew are always on top of it, and the food is amazing. An old school, small town diner with friendly staff and patrons.

came here for dinner twice while staying at the Inn for a little getaway. everything was very tasty…read moreand well made. they have unique dishes on the menu which makes for an interesting dining experience. service was excellent too. the tables are in the main house of the Inn which is a really old and quaint building. the decor is so beautiful. our first night our table was in front of a wood burning fireplace which was lit and tended to by our waitress. this place is completely off the beaten path and in the middle of nowhere. if we were ever in the area again, we would definitely stop by. also, the restaurant serves a fantastic breakfast which is only open to guests at the Inn.

We agreed they were definitely worth the $30ish tab for 2 they would have been if we weren't guests of the inn. The dinner we had was good, but not amazing. There was only one choice available for the first two courses, and two for the main course. We don't eat pork so we both had scallops for dinner. The first two courses (a gazpacho and shrimp+grits kind of deal) were both good, but it was really the scallops that won us over; they were delicious. The cheese plate for dessert had 1 kind of cheese, and we were disappointed there were no dessert options involving chocolate. Overall, we had a nice meal, but didn't really think it warranted the $250 we spent.

Stopping in for dinner on our drive home from a family trip. There was something for everyone-…read moremeatloaf platter, soup/salad, French dip and kids chicken finger meal, and a slice of smith island cake to share. Jack was our server and he had a sweet young lady shadowing him in training. Service was friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. The meatloaf was well seasoned and had been griddled and covered in gravy with homestyle mashed (with small lumps.) The chicken and dumplings soup was well seasoned and with big chunks of chicken and carrots. Our small person was delighted that she could swap her fries for mash and had her choice of gravies. The teen was defeated by the enormous French dip and fries. He practically drank the au jus. Everyone was full until they heard there was a smith island cake (many thin layered cake with chocolate icing and white chocolate curls. Three forks made quick work of the big slice. We would happily stop in on our next time thru town.

When I first moved to town around 8 years ago I had to try the Mountain View Diner because everyone…read moresaid it was the best place around. They lied. I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. They were all terrible. And the interior was trashed. Did not revisit for 8 years. Had heard its been thru several new managers and owners. Out of boredom and curiosity I went back. It was worth the trip. The interior still looks ratty, but they did install cute modern hanging lamps. The food has improved considerably. I had the Monty Rey chicken which I suspect is what they call their Monterrey chicken. Probably about a pound of meat smothered in cheese and BBQ sauce, which is not something I would normally order but they made it sound good, and it was. Came with a big pile of rice that also did not taste terrible. And a very short cob of corn and an OK but not great bowl of broccoli cream soup. Dessert was a generic slice of cake with cheap orange frosting. Not terrible, not good. Will never order it again. Service started rocky. The hostess was constantly busy with phone orders. And all the wait staff ignored me and the patient but unhappy lady in front of me. And the place was not busy, either, just managed poorly. Once I got seated they took good care of me, and apparently did well with the nice lady too. James was always checking on me and got everything I needed. My only real complaint is for some odd reason both the salt and pepper had a very strange odor to them. Not the shakers, the condiments themselves. That was weird. Never smelled that in any restaurant before in my life. Overall I was happy and since things appear to be running better, I will make return trips. Definitely not going back to any of the chain restaurants in town.
